A pretty decent and affordable regular old reverb

This is no Strymon BlueSky, it's a trusty old fashioned reverb (at less than a tenth the price.) If you just need reverb, without all the floaty modulated sparkley stuff, get this one. If you want to play ambient music, you'll want the Strymon or something like it.

The reverb modes sound pretty good. There are the normal subtle digital artifacts, but I can hear them in the Strymon and my rack mount Alesis, too.

It's in a heavy aluminum case that will survive gigging.

Standard clicky foot switch. No pop. It doesn't say it's true bypass anywhere, but it passes the signal through when you unplug the power, so it almost certainly is.

The pots feel good. The detents in the mode selector switch are a bit soft, it would be easy to bump it into a different mode by accident, but it's serviceable.

Takes the standard 9v center negative power most pedals do. Doesn't come with anything, so if you don't have pedal power, you will need to get something to use this. It requires 140ma, so the cheap 100ma power supplies will likely not work properly.

It's very well protected by soft foam in it's little box. Comes with a little manual, but it's printed with a tiny font. Download the one off their web site if you want something you can read.

All in all a good sounding unit for a reasonable price. It's on my pedal board for now. Even if you ultimately decide you want a different sound, this is a great and inexpensive place to start your search.

Great sounding and great value

What a great pedal for the money. Donner pedals sound great like boutique pedals which are 6 times more expensive. They take up minimal space on mybpedal board! Love them!!!!

Finicky about power supplies, needs isolated power

Worked great for about 6 months, now it has 2 modes: true bypass and atonal buzzing.

No longer passes any signal. Pedal has been babied and never left home studio.

EDIT:

This pedal does NOT like to be on the same power supply rail as any other pedals. The buzzing mentioned is caused by using a common switched-rail power supply like a 1Spot to power it and other pedals. You'll need an isolated power supply to use this pedal alongside other pedals.

Doesn't work

The pedal doesn't do anything. The LED turns on but that's it. What a bummer.

Horrible Digital Reverb

First- I don’t like slamming products. If you just want reverb for practice, there’s your one star.

The review: this reverb sounds like someone described reverb to AI and it was programmed on the spot. It clicks, it modulates like AC adapters do but audibly, and sounds sterile and lifeless. Even the church reverb, unless cranked to unusable levels, has a slight pitch modulation that renders it unusable.

I play metal and jazz, weird, but this sucks as a paired reverb in clean or distorted tones. The echo modulates and clicks.

Go buy a series three from JHS or use a plugin.

Guitar: Les Paul, strat standard, alleykat

Amp: Marshall origin 50, JTM 45

Use: about 1.5 hours with cleans and 10 minutes with OD

I LOVE donners beginning instruments and power supply, this just is not the same. At all.

Zelda likes it!

I bought this incredible deal because the Surfragettes are coming to town and I dont want to be left behind. Seven varieties of reverb and now I'm sounding like a pro.

Spring reverb is not very good

I compared this with a Digitech Digital Reverb. In particular, I was interested in slring reverb. The spring reverb on rhis pedal is ok, usable, I giess, but doesn't sound anywhere near as good as rhe DT. Also, the printing on the face is absolutely tiny, way too small to read without a magnifying glass.

It worked for about one hour and then malfunctioned

I used it for less than an hour then it malfunctioned. I’d like to return it

Great value for money

Honestly this product is great for the amount that you pay. It boasts 7 reverbs, however I find myself only using the church, plate, and mod verbs. The others sounds kinda sub-part. Love the small form factor. Packaging was very professional. I love experimenting what it can do - especially the mod effect. You can create some cool swells using it. However, I noticed that mod effects seems to have some type of feedback loop once you turn it up high enough where the effect won't stop till you stomp on the pedal. You're just going to have to tinker with it to get the sound you want. Worth the price in my eyes though.

Best low cost mini pedal

I was skeptical at first to buy one of these “Donner” pedals. The price seemed to good to be true at the time of purchase. I went ahead and purchased it only to have my socks blown off my feet. I was amazed at the sound quality of the effects. The chassis of the pedal feels sturdy and well made. The knobs are stiff and definitely don’t feel cheap. I recommended picking one of these mini pedals from Donner because from my experience they work as advertised.

I’m loving it!

The Donner Verb Squared is part of an inexpensive pedal board I put together. It has provided me with many hours of musical experimentation and is loads of fun. Highly recommended!

Great for the price.

I bought this reverb along with a chorus and tuner from Donner during the holiday sales and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pedals. I've been digging the spring, studio and mod settings. Great for the price.

Great sounds for the money.

This is a versatile pedal for any music style. I was looking for a reverb pedal to ad some depth to my sound and this did not disappoint. It sounds amazing. Big sounds for small money. You can hear it in my clip of my original song Into The Blue. (Note it is last in my signal chain behind a chorus and boost pedal.

Great for the price!

I love my Donner pedals. Is it the best reverb? No, but for the price you can't beat it. The size is small, the weight feels very solid and the case is metal (Looks like aluminum) If you are setting up a pedalboard on a budget, Donner pedals are a great way to go.

Donner Pedals Are Awesome!!

This is the pedalboard that I use when I perform and as you can see, only 4 pedals aren't Donner. This is due to the quality of the pedals and the tone that I get from them. When you perform 200+ shows a year, you have to have something that is rugged and dependable and that's just what Donner pedals are! The newest addition that I have is the reverb pedal, and it truly doesn't disappoint! When comparing the reverb in the Fender G100 that I use, I actually prefer the Donner reverb over the digital. I've always been a fan of analog gear as every piece of gear has its own unique tone and character, and this reverb pedal is amazing and it does great things for the tone that I get. The reverb pedal gives a silky tone that allows full control over the amount of reverb and the tone of the reverb as well as the level. My particular favorite is the spring reverb setting, it gives the reverb and tone that is as close as you can get to a spring reverb tank. While I have onboard digital effects in my Fender g100, I still prefer the old school effects with all of their imperfections to something that can sound dull, digital, and lifeless.

Thank you Donner for making such an oustanding pedal and I hope to use more in the future!!!

The Reverb Pedal You've Been Looking For

Donner gets it right again with the Verb Square Reverb pedal. I've recently been getting into different sounds with my guitar and was looking for a reverb pedal with some variety. I kept shopping around after finding this pedal and came right back. This pedal has 7 different options ranging from a small room setting to something as vast a church, and you can definitely appreciate it. For those looking to add an essential effect at a great price point that you can trust, this pedal is for you.

Great Pedal at an Excellent Price

I was hesitant to buy a reverb pedal because the competitor's prices were way too high. Upon finding donner reverb I immediately ordered it because it was at a good price. The product came fast and was packaged well. I use this pedal, along with donner reverb. Both are integral to my sound on the guitar. The pedal itself features 7 different modes that are easy to access due to a friendly user interface. The sound quality is excellent and the pedal barely takes up space on my pedalboard. I highly recommend this product and if you buy it YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!

A Great Affordable, compact, powerful Pedal. Works great!

This product was as advertised. It gives you a great sound. It is very compact yet has a big sound. I would recommend Donner pedals to anyone who want to have a versatile sound and dont want to spend allot or waste allot of pedal space.

This is a good affordable reverb pedal.

Great sounds and a good value

This pedal has lots of good sounds. It is very versatile and built out of metal, so I know it is durable, too. I have a couple of Donner pedals and they are really nice pedals. I made a video so you can hear some of the sounds. My favorite sounds are the hall and studio reverbs

Great bang for the buck!

So far, this pedal has been great. It has more reverb effect than my stock reverb from my roland blues cube. For the money, I'd say this has a great deal of reverb styles, and enough effect to satisfy most amateurs to semi-professionals. I am by no means a professional guitarists, I just like to dabble with pedals, and this is great. I do play the steel drums and use this as an effect from time to time and I love having it to change my sound from time to time.

I added a video of me with how I will actually use this as guitar is more of just a hobby and steel drums is what I primarily play. This is my first video review, which I recorded on a Zoom Q2N 4k. I apologize for the shoddy video skills.

Good effect. Tone control instead of Rate (much better!)

I use this on a small board for acoustic guitar. My electric guitar board has a boss RV-6, and this pedal sounds as good as the Boss, except for the Mod reverb on the Donner, which sounds a little too digital/crisp to my taste, even when tone is adjusted.

Speaking of TONE, my pedal came with the far right small pot labeled Tone instead of Rate. The knob functions as a tone control, which is very useful. I like my reverb to be more subtle and warm, so I adjust the tone very low, and the effect responds well.

The only objective complaint is that switching the effect on/off produces a significant “pop” sound in line. It’s noticable in between songs, but not noticeable while playing. I can’t remember if switching off the pedal keeps the reverb tail.

You can't go wrong with Donner pedals!

My first effects pedal was the Donner Blues Drive and I absolutely LOVE IT! For my birthday this year, I decided to order some more pedals from Donner and start building a pedalboard. With the quality and affordability of these pedals, you really can't go wrong. I play mostly in church with our praise band and this reverb pedal works perfectly for what I need it for! There are not any other affordable reverb pedals out there that offer seven different modes and while some of the modes are very subtle, a few of them are quite pronounced and sound beautiful!

Reverb in spades plus other fun stuff!!!

This little Donner Reverb pedal has some cool added features you may not find in similarly priced reverb pedals There are 7 basic modes or types of reverb.1. Room 2. Hall 3.Church 4.Spring 5.Plate 6. Studio and 7. Mod. Each of these is useful depending on what you are hoping to emulate. These are of course digital representations of these reverbs and as such are not identical to the originals. See the link below for further description of the pedal functions.

In my accompanying video review I have tried to show some typical uses although that is personally subjective. I am fond of a couple specific settings for one the Mod setting which adds a slightly detuned pitch to your original sound and the hall and room sounds can be set subtly and add ambiance to an already good tone. My suggestion is to use these fx pedals sparingly so that you enhance your good tone not wash it out altogether. Thanks to my crew of one RV Velasco and our pets who may have the final word. Big shout out to Shaggy's in Cat City and to our friends at Donner.

Great sound and solidly constructed

I have been testing the Donner Verb Square pedal for several days now. My first impression was that this little pedal is very well made. Solid construction and smooth control knobs. I've owned other well known brands that sometimes have gritty feeling controls or they've had sticky spots when making adjustments. Not so with this pedal. With 7 different modes you have plenty of options to choose from for your reverb needs. I would try to describe the sound of this pedal but instead I've made a video demonstrating all seven modes. My personal favorites are the Hall for most styles of music, Church for a surf rock tone and the mod which seems to add a bit of a chorus effect.

Packing is also very well thought out. A piece of fitted foam keeps the pedal from shifting around in it's box and protects the control knobs.

Many Nice Sounding Options

This new true bypass Donner Reverb offers a lot of options at a super affordable price. The pedal has small foot print, and is housed in a very nice strong aluminum-alloy casing. All connections, including power, were tight and sturdy. The pedal runs on a 9v adapter, which is not included.

You get 7 reverb modes covering all the reverb types that one would want. You can adjust the level of the reverb, the decay which sets the duration, and you can adjust the tone to get darker to brighter sounds. For your big open sounds, you have the hall and church modes. The church mode gets a bit synth sounding on the decays. My personal favorites were the room, spring, studio and mod. I got the best sounds out of these modes running all pedal settings at about 11 o'clock with my amp, and Donner seems to get modulation right in all their pedals. I also noticed that with all the modes, a sort of punchiness when playing almost as if I there is a light compressor setting applied. I will be adding this pedal to the board, and it will be a welcome addition, since my amp has my least favorite reverb which is plate reverb.

Versatile Reverb Unit in a mini size guitar pedal.

This is a very versatile reverb unit in a mini size guitar pedal.

The Verb Square has a durable casing with a padded bottom. In addition to the Room, Hall, Church, Spring, Plate, Studio & Mod Reverbs it has an effect level, decay, and tone knobs allowing you to dial in many different sounds.

I own many Donner effect pedals and products and this is another fine inexpensive unit worth the money. I'll have to try it only vocals soon.

Overall I'm happy with The Verb Square pedal and would recommend it.
