Outside dent (damaged somewhere)

I am using this the first time. After one hour I had to refill the wood chips. The smoker came also with a dent (see attached picture). Sending it back after unpacking seemed very difficult. At least I would think that I get a price reduction for the damaged corner. The sturdy built I hope will not change the way it works.

East Oak smoker

Giving 5 stars right now. Looks good, very well shipped. Haven't tried it yet, but will be soon. Luckily I got it though, FedEx stopped in front of my house but walked past my porch and placed it in the driveway of the neighbors behind me. So, technically delivered to wrong address.

Handle defective! Doesn’t fit on the back of the smoker

The handle that came with the smoker didn’t fit- was too long. East Oak Customer support responded promptly to my inquiry and sent me a timely replacement. I am happy

This company rocks!

I would just like to say this company and everyone working for this company is amazing. I bought the regular smoker without the glass pane in 2024. I had a phenomenal time smoking things throughout the summer of 2024. Then came 2025 summer and for some reason it did not work. I said dog on it and spent the whole summer barbecuing on my grill rather than smoking thinking the company could do better. Then came this summer of 2026 and I said dog on it again. These guys should at least help me out with a replacement heating element. I reached out and the company responded almost instantly and they sent me a new heating element. I installed said heating element, but my unit did not work. I reached out to them again and then they sent me a new control panel, which did not work so I reached out yet again… and they sent me a brand new unit that had the meat thermometer, and glass pane. I plugged it in and all I had in my refrigerator was three dropper to test it out but boy oh boy was the experience a blessed thing that I had not partake of in over a year shout out to this company and their customer service I could not recommend a better company than East Oak. These guys are absolutely phenomenal and they didn’t pay me anything to say this. This is a real post from an absolutely happy Customer.

AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! Sadly we bought this for Fathers Day and didn’t get around to opening it until the summer in July. When we opened it, it was dented on one side.

East Oak Contacted us after our review and offered us a full refund or replacement!!!

We asked for a replacement and they got it right out to us!

Don’t wait, buy it NOW!

As someone completely new to smoking meats, I couldn’t be happier with this smoker. I purchased the 30” East Oak electric smoker because I wanted something beginner-friendly, and it has exceeded my expectations.

One of my favorite things is how easy it is to use. The temperature stays consistent, the controls are straightforward, and I never felt intimidated trying it for the first time. I’ve already made several different meats, and everything has come out tender, flavorful, and perfectly smoked.

As a woman learning this hobby on my own, this smoker has given me so much confidence in the kitchen and outdoors. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I’m excited to try new recipes and techniques because this smoker makes the process so approachable.

If you’re a beginner—or just want an electric smoker that’s simple, reliable, and produces great results—I highly recommend the East Oak 30”. It’s made smoking meat fun instead of stressful, and I wish I had bought it sooner!

EAST OAK 30" Electric Smoker

The smoker does a fantastic job and we love the flavor. It comes with a three year warranty. After a little over a year of use, the control panel stopped working properly. Contacted East Oak about the problem and they sent a new replacement control panel. Great customer service.

Great Smoker!

I love my East Oak

30” Electric smoker . I’ve used it 3 times now I’ve made Steak, ribs, chicken sausage and bacon wrapped cream cheese Jalepenos. Takes about 30 minutes to preheat and start smoking using a full box of wood chips at 275, I just smoke with the chip box lid off. For2 -4 hour smoke you only to load wood chips 1 time. Easy to wipe down with scrubby sponge when warm with a Little soap and warm water keeps the glass clean.. love it!! Shipped and packed well.. power cord is about 4ft long. Mine sits on a tempered glass table under a covered patio . No heat issues and is very Sturdy. Door seals and only smoke comes out from the vent.

Amazing product and Amazing price.

Amazing for the price. Amazing smoker that is super easy to use and no real setup needed. Just take it out of the box. Wipe it down on the inside for any factory dust. Wipe a little oil on the walls so residue is easy to clean off. Change the wood chips every 4 hours. Add a little water every six hours. Meat comes out tasting better than a restaurant.

Great Customer service

Absolutely the best built smoker I have seen. I looked at a lot of smokers before I settled on this one. Customer service is top notch! I bought this on the 22nd and today, Memorial day, customer service reached out to address a small concern of mine. I truly recommend this East Oak smoker!

Great beginner smoker

Bought this for my son for his birthday because he grills and cooks outside all the time, and he was really excited to try smoking meats. Overall, we have been very happy with it. The smoker was easy to put together, looks nice, and holds temperature pretty well once you get used to it.

There is definitely a learning curve if you’ve never used an electric smoker before, especially figuring out the wood chips, timing, and temperature settings. After a couple tries though, the food turned out great. It was ready to set up an start using.

One downside is the glass gets dirty really fast, especially after longer smokes, so be prepared to clean it often if you want to keep that nice look. Other than that, it has worked really well and was a great birthday gift for someone who loves grilling and BBQ.

It works well and holds temperature, but it will not ignite wood chips until around 250 degrees.

This smoker is built well and holds temperature nicely. I bought the extra base to raise it up and that makes it much easier to use. I am giving it four stars because it will not start smoking the wood chips until it reaches about 250 degrees. I smoke fish at around 150, so that was disappointing. The manufacturer does mention this, but it is in very small print and not easy to find when you are buying it.

Because of that limitation, I had to buy a pellet smoke tube so I could smoke fish at the lower temperature I prefer. With that said, I probably could have just used my pellet grill and a smoke tube and gotten the same result. Other than that, the smoker works fine. It appears to be insulated well and it cooks evenly. Cleaning takes some effort because once the smoke sticks to the inside, it does not wipe off easily. Overall, I still like the unit, but the chip ignition temperature is something buyers should know.

Quality Smoker

Purchased this almost a year ago and really happy with it. This is my first smoker and it’s really beginner friendly and makes some awesome food!

Solid!

This thing is solid! Just finished my first smoke and am very pleased with the heat and smoke retention. Quality build for a good price! I did have to buy a pedestal separately, which I wish was part of the build like previous models. Without the pedestal, it is extremely short for my preference. The separate pedestal is from East Oak, but is noticeably different in shape compared to what used to be built on.

The light serves zero purpose. When the door is closed it only illuminates the top of the door frame. When the door is open, is just illuminates the ground in front of the smoker. But, whoever cares when you've got a smoker this good for the price! Solid purchase.

Great Smoker can not miss.

I researched smokers for my 1st smoker purchase price was great. The unit arrived well packed with no issues. Very well made and instruction book well written. Followed instructions to get smoker ready for first cooking. Last Saturday made baby back ribs using 3,2 & 1 method and potatoes used olive oil and seasoning. My 1st meal from smoker was a hit with my foodie critics they are tough to please they were amazed. The unit maintained temperature well and controls very easy to use. Able to cook on 3 of 4 shelfs with 4th used for drip pan. I had no leakage. Bought 3 pk of wood chips apple, mesquite and hickory. Clean up easy. The previous reviews from others were very helpful in making my purchase. Can not beat the price and quality of smoker. Looking forward to doing Brats, Brisket, Burgers, Meatloaf, Sweet Potatoes, Vegetables & Cobbler. Buy one and have a great time smoking meals.

Safe way to smoke meat that is tender and juicy

I'm done with grilling! I love the smoker! We buy big tough chicken breasts here and I've never found a way to make them tender. This does it.

My salmon and pork loins (in pic) are perfect. Today I baked potatoes with the pork. All taste great.

I've been smoking in winter on my porch. It seems to cook warmer than I've set it, but maybe it's compensating for the weather. That's easy to fix- just cook at a lower temp right now. I

I really love that it's electric. I don't worry about running out of gas or the cooker getting too hot and starting a fire. I feel safe. I searched for a cooker with a probe too. I feel safe that my meat is adequately cooked. All good features.

EXCELLENT smoker! Highly recommend!

This is a fantastic smoker. I was constantly having to adjust the temperature and the smoke would just stop. However, this East Oak smoker is excellent. First, the thing actually smokes! It makes our meat taste like the wonderful meats we had in Kansas City - which is famous for their BBQ. The meat comes out tender, moist and extremely flavorful. The glass door is a plus as you can see inside without having to open it. It comes with a thermometer which works fine and the "set it and forget it" feature of the electronic thermometer is perfect. I do routinely check my meats because I tend to be a perfectionist about the smoked quality but the smoker makes the entire process super easy. I love this smoker!!! I never thought it could be this much fun to smoke our own meats. Thank you East Oak!!! The price is very reasonable as well. We did buy the stand for the East Oak smoker as well as we did not have a place to put the smoker otherwise.

Impressive quality in a more compact package

After my 8-year-old MasterBuilt 30" electric smoker finally bit the dust, I ordered this cute replacement based on specs and reviews... it did not disappoint.

Packaged more securely than I had imagined - I enlisted my wife as a helper as we unwrapped everything and separated the styrofoam from the cardboard to the point where we could lift it out and stand the smoker on end for further inspection. Some smaller parts were packaged in their own boxes, such as the grates, smoker box for wood chips, and a small water pan. The owner's manual and associated literature were packed in their own plastic sleeve. The manual was well written (I'm a writer and I know some stuff) and adequately illustrated. A detailed parts list was included in the literature. The paperwork alone was impressive and gave the company a good first impression. It seemed clear that they were proud of their product.

Assembly was easy enough, but it was helpful to have a helper since I'm a disabled veteran with some mobility issues. Once all was unpacked and the styrofoam disposed of, I ordered the leg assembly and East Oak cover since this unit will reside in the Florida heat and humidity, not to mention our occasional monsoon rains. The only hitch was two missing screws that hold the long handle that attaches across the upper rear portion of the smoker unit. I supplied my own hardware and got it attached with no problem. That handle is handy to have if you have to move the smoker more than a foot or two on the attached wheels - it cannot be seen in the attached photo. I was rather surprised to learn that two small screws were missing since everything else seemed to be so carefully packaged, but it's not a deal breaker.

One item of note - the temperature probe plugs into the top right side of the controls and has a small rubber cover to protect the opening. When not in use, it can be safely stored out of the elements until needed. Someone designed this unit based on experience.

Since this unit was smaller than the smoker it replaced, I also ordered a small roaster pan to catch any drippings. The grates are approximately 15" X 12" but adequate for our use. We will be smoking a 23-pound turkey for Thanksgiving, thanks to East Oak. Read the reviews and buy with confidence!

Good smoker! Great customer service!

Excellent electric smoker. I used it six times already doing various recipes. Temperature control is very good and the meat probe that comes with it is very useful. I got the one with the glass window which is very useful for first time users, because they can keep an eye on what's going on without opening the door and losing the heat and smoke.

Relatively easy to clean, especially when you learn to not overfill the smoker and keep the meat above the drip tray.

Last time I used the smoker I dropped the wood chips box on concrete from 10 ft and it bended, the lid won't stay put. I went to purchase a new box but they were all sold out. I contacted the customer service, told them what happened and 2 weeks later I received the part free of charge.

GREAT customer service!

I would probably buy this again at the end of the smoker life just because I know they have good customer care.

Thank you!

Great First Time

Up date: I accidentally missed a rack for the smoker. Customer service is responded and taking care of me. I also ordered the stand legs that came with two wheels. **** Came boxed and and pack extremely well. No damage. I was surprised it was not as heavy as it looks which is a good thing for me. Easy to move around and sturdy.

Did my first smoke using chicken thighs. Came out great. From warm up to final cook was 3.5 hours. Using apple wood chips about 3/4 full in the firebox still plenty of smoke. I think I could have gone a couple of more hours with out filling the firebox. Very surprised. I am sure different woods burn at different rates. To make clean up easier. I took two small aluminum SHEET pans that fit the depth of the rack and was just over half the width, place one on a bottom rack over the fire box. I then staggered another on the next rack up on the opposite side. I then placed the thighs on a third rack. Worked out great. Smoke could still circulate. Easy peasy clean up. The aluminum sheet pans about 12x 8 in. or so, only have a 1 inch or so edge on them.

Perfect

Honestly, I love it. Just did my first rack of ribs in it. Might take a little getting used to but so far its perfect. Very easy to manage tempurature. Very much a "set it and forget it" operations with temp settings and timer settings. It turns off after the timer sounds and retains a warmth to keep everything to temp. Pretty light-weight. I can pick it up by myself pretty easily. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AND READ WARNINGS. This is not a pellet smoker, it is meant for use with WOOD CHIPS. Use wood chips. My experience, there was plenty of smoke production from the wood chips. This little little smoker is a badass and perfect for small family meals versus wasting a whole big smoker set-up for just a single chicken or rack of ribs. 10/10, would recommend.

East Oak Smokinnn!

We really like this smoker. It is smaller than the more pricey ones but works great. It does take a while to get the temperature up but it smokes great!

Great introduction to the smoker world

This is an electric smoker not too different from other brands and offerings but there are a few things I’ve come to like after having it a few weeks and using it regularly.

First, if you have any desire to move it around or in and out of a shed or garage, the wheels on the back are bad. You have to tilt it very far down, the wheels spin but it feels more like dragging it than rolling. If you plan to wheel this thing around it’s worth buying some M6 stem casters and swapping them for the included feet.

Second, this smoker has a flat top which I appreciate as a place to set something down on top of. It’s surprisingly helpful having a clean place to set a thermometer or a pair of gloves or even just a surface to set your food while you unlatch the door before placing it in or out.

Third, it’s a smoker. I’ve had no issues maintaining temperature (granted it is summer and not at all cold outside) and a full hopper of wood chips gave me easily 3+ hours of smoke and even at the 8 or 9 hour mark a full hopper was still lightly smoldering without adding chips. It’s a great set and forget kind of use which is ideal for me. Read the instructions to season in properly I honestly do not think you can go wrong. I originally was a little regretful of cheaping out and not getting the model with the window but I really don’t miss it. Seeing the food isn’t all that helpful if you are relying on a thermometer or timer anyway.

Lastly, they make a stand to raise it up if you’re sensitive to bending down but it’s not been as much as an issue as I had expected. If you can endure loading an oven or dishwasher you are probably not going to be bothered by it not being taller.

First time use! Perfect! Smoked for over two hours.

Did ribs and baked potatoes! Smoked for over two hours, very impressed.

Easy to use with delicious results

We are in love with this smoker! It's good looking and works well. The control panel is very user friendly. The included remote is easy to use when checking the temperature and meat temperature from inside the house. My only complaint is the light. The placement inside about the door makes it hard to see into the smoker when the door glass has drippings on it. It would be easier to see inside if it was lit from the back, but that is my only complaint. Otherwise, this is a damn good smoker! Fun and easy to use. Thanks.

Best electric smoker for the price

I've owned two electric smokers before this one. One thing I learned is that it's too much of a pain to keep smokers with a window clean and clear enough to be useful. I stick to the windowless ones now, plus I think they offer even better insulation than a windowed smoker. For the money, this East Oak 30" smoker is the best you can get by far.

This smoker arrived very well packaged, though it took far too long for it to arrive; a full two weeks. Shipping could definitely be quicker! Installing all the parts is easy, especially if you have prior smoker experience. I recommend following the instructions to make sure you don't miss anything. I noticed a mistake was made at some point during manufacturing, because the water bowl max fill line is actually spelled backwards, lol, but no big deal. What's most important is that everything seems very well made! I was a bit nervous purchasing this smoker since it's from a brand that's new to the smoker world, but after my initial experience I am completely happy with it.

My favorite feature of this smoker is that is uses a wood chip loading tray that can be pulled out without opening the smoker door. This is something that I've only seen with the patented design that Masterbuilt has on their smokers, but this design is different because the shape and size of the tray is larger, allowing for a longer-term smoke. I love that, as I can load it once and not worry about it. 3-4 hours should be plenty of time to get the smoke flavor into anything you're making. If you need more time than that to cook a larger meat such as a turkey, ribs, or brisket, then finish it in your oven. Not only will this save on your smokers heating element by increasing its lifespan, but you can also take that time between swapping from smoker to oven to wrap the meat in foil and add a small amount of water to allow the meat to steam/tenderize better in the oven. Smoke only penetrates so deep into the meat anyway, so what some people don't realize is leaving meat in the smoker all day long isn't going to give it any more smoke flavor.

Know that this model is cheaper than most but the only shortcut it seems to take is not to include Bluetooth to connect an app with your phone for temp controls and timing. I find that once I've set the temperature I rarely if ever change it, so that's not a problem. I also use a wireless meat thermometer of my own choosing in order to track internal temp without having to open the smoker door and check it manually. I just smoked some pork loin and salmon today and was able to route the cable for the temperature probe through the smoker ventilation outlet, which ensured I could keep the door area completely free of any obstructions.

One thing to note - please read the instructions and be sure to perform the initial seasoning steps as outlined in the product manual. I've seen some of the reviews here state they took everything out of the box and cooked right away as if they skipped that step. That means your meat was getting the factory fumes and residue into the meat itself. Gross! My advice is to perform the seasoning steps, then let it cool down, then add water to the water reservoir, fill the chip tray with your smoking chips of choice and just let it run around 220-225 for about 3 hours. That will further take care of any odd smells/taste before your first smoke with food!

The first thing I smoked was a rack of ribs which I included a picture of on this review. They were in at 225 degrees for about 3 hours and when I took them out to move them to the oven I noticed the bones were already exposed about half an inch, which is a good way to know that they are already getting tender.

** Update as of 1/6/2024 **

I noticed after several times using this smoker that no matter what I cooked in it, the meats were getting done much quicker than suggested times said online. I picked up an oven thermometer the other day and hung it from the center rack, turned it on to run a cycle with just the water tray filled to proper line, and some smoking chips. I set the temp to 225 and let it heat up. I came back and checked, and found the outside temp was reading 230. I opened the door and it was up to 265! That's 45 degrees hotter than I set it to. I then let some of the air out and set the temp to 200. Gave it time to settle and discovered that my 200 setting was displaying 197 degrees but actual interior temp was right around 225.

Be careful when cooking, as mine seems to run hotter than it's supposed to. Now that I figured out this out, I know to run it lower to get a more accurate cooking time. I knew there was no way that the ribs I had been smoking were getting done so fast, or that I was able to cook a brisket in 4.5 hours. I also ruined my first smoked turkey experience because I went purely based on time for pound, and even though I checked it early it was already way overdone and crispy. Perhaps my smoked meats will be more juicy and tender once I figure out the proper temps.

I had to knock a star off due to the inaccurate cooking temperature. That aside, I do love everything else about the smoker. The price has gone up about 30% since I purchased it though. Maybe wait and see if it goes on sale, or else it might be worth going with a name brand you trust if it's near $300.
