I've owned two of the smokers now and both of them malfunctioned within 6 months. The first smoker stopped working during a cook on the very first use. The replacement smoker stopped working on the 6th use. This is one of the worst brands and products that I've ever used and I hate to say it because it looks great and for the few times that it did actually work, it cooked very well. In my opinion, it's just poorly made and not built to last. Buy at your own risk.

Best smoker, and so easy to make the best barbecue.
This is the best thing., ever for making great barbecue. I I’m using post oaks chips. The flavor is great. The smoker cooks everything perfectly. The chicken is so moist, The ribs fall off the bone. I have been doing the carnivore diet.

It works great. My big complaint is the blue display that is extremely difficult to read in even moderate light. 5 stars otherwise

Small smoker
It is smaller than it looks, if you're looking a smoker that can handle a slap of ribs this is not the one. Has far has heating control it works well so far ran a 12 hour smoke and it worked well.

Lots of assembly required!
Start with once the pain is over the product lives up to its description. To the pain - the box arrives it is 70lbs - no handles make it difficult for the 75-year-old to maneuver. Once it is position you notice that you are warned "no sharp knives" and you attempt to pry this tape off the box - not coming off - got a heat gun no luck - f it going in with the knife. Opens and once you get it pried out from its Styrofoam womb - you begin to uncover parts that have the full alphabet to identify (they use numbers for the screws). So you lay them all out and then cross check them against the part list and you have discovered you are an hour into this task and you paid $270 buck for the experience. You convince yourself the worst is over now it 1-2-3 smoker in the backyard. You take the first 2 parts, I and J that the instructions tell you to connect - you try to attach the first screw and you realize there is nothing to screw it into. After all the crap to uncrate, unbox, open several different boxes to find parts, the first attempt to construct this product is failed because one of the many parts is defective - no part to accept the screw. Can't be - you search for the insert a simple plastic part - no luck. What now? repack the whole mess and ship it back - no that is not happening. You fix it and find a replacement that will work - so it is now almost 2 hrs into this ordeal and I am looking for a screw and bolt that will work, find it, install it and then proceed to complete the product. Over 3 hours start to finish --- at my age time is a precious commodity. You need to be far more specific about the time needed to erect this smoker - it works fine and appears to be sturdy - but a real pain in the ass to assemble.

AMAZING Smoker!
To be clear, I'm only giving this East Oak Ridgewood Pro 4 stars because I am focusing on my first impressions during my first smoke. I will come back and give a review based on the end results. I CAN say that it's got a 3 year warranty and according to reviews, has superior customer service. It does come to you VERY well packaged and also includes a nice, easy to understand manual that includes QR codes for easy registration, first time use, and prep. East Oak makes it so easy to get your initiation to the smoker done right! AMAZING product! The capacity of this smoker is especially wonderful! I expect to smoke some of my favorite spice combinations. The heat retention has shown to be quite impressive! The overall fit in my space is stellar! The seal on this smoker perfection! I can say that it seems quite sturdy and doesn't strike me as being a "puddle jumper" smoker- I have a cookshack, a Primo, and a ReqTec. I'm impressed and highly recommend! If you are looking for a good smoker in this price range, you can't go wrong with this one. Obviously, I chose it over the smokers in the same price range- because I did my research and talked to friends who shared their dissatisfaction in the other brands.

*BUYER BEWARE*
*update* after less than 10 times used, the smoker has died. The units temp control has completely fried. Setting the temp at 275° will not reach a temperature of 187°, which will NOT work for smoking meat. The unit is completely useless until the manufacturer refunds or replaces the faulty board or the entire smoker.
*The manufacturer was aware of the issue, and informed me the boards were on "back order", which means nothing to the consumer except to look elsewhere for a reliable smoker.

Great smoker excellent customer service
When we first got the smoker one of the legs were bent and prevented complete install. I called manufacturer customer support gave them the part info which was “G” and they shipped it right over at no additional cost and through in a cover as a courtesy. We are very please with the smoker and their customer support added to how pleased we are with everything.

Assembly was pretty straightforward. It was well packed, and directions were plain. I’ve only used it once for smoking, but it has been the best batch of salmon that I’ve ever smoked. Even heating throughout the entire chamber. Very happy at this point in time.

Great Product, Be Aware However
I didn’t fully understand why this model with a stand was cheaper than the one without.. East Oak has a poor marketing team it seems as I still can’t tell after reviewing the two against each other. If it weren’t for the reviews you’d never know.
Yes this one with a stand is cheaper but it unfortunately doesn’t come with a remote to tell you internal temperatures like the other (still not sure the other model does but based on reviews it seems it does). Seems like a simple add on that would make this product 5 stars but they left it out. The quality is great. It feels like it should be way more than what it sells for. Would’ve been nice to know this
Model has no remote or app before assembling however.

Awesome smoker!
I stepped up to this unit from an electric table top ninja. Should have done it sooner. I looked at reviews, between East Oak and others, once you learn the temp swings, and the smoke technique, it's duck soup from then on. I smoke every weekend with out fail, wouldn't have it any other way or with any different smoker!

Convenient, attractive, needs some guards on the feet.
This is my first smoker so I am not the most experienced reviewer. In addition, due to the brutal winter in western NY we have been unable to take this outside in order to use it consistently. I gave it one test run in the house, using our chimney and a fan to extract the fumes.
The unit is really attractive. It is a handsome black with a nice design. Assembly is trivial as you just have to put a few components together and then add the shelves, etc. You can't really go wrong. The metal is sturdy enough for its intended purpose and the entire unit does a great job of shielding the internal heat from outside users. The metal legs are a bit irritating as they are sharp and I keep hitting them accidentally. I'd put a rubber guard on there.
Inside everything is very clean. There's a good rubber seal on the door. The door itself is solid and moves easily on its hinges. The steel shelves are simple but effective and the tray and chip chamber are made of perfectly adequate metal. The latch works well and everything seems reliable.
Again, we only had a chance to run it once. Everything worked fine. The controls were easy to use and the unit heated up appropriately. I did not use the included thermometer, relying instead on our usual kitchen thermometer. The smoke level was as expected and was way better than the previous week where I burned a pizza.
All in all I think it appears to be a nice little unit, but I need more time with it to give a full review.

A no-brains road to Deliciousville
I've been smoking food my whole life. My dad got me my first smoker when I went off to grad school. Since then I've smoked chicken, fish, turkey, beef, pork, ribs, vegetables - all the stuff. I've used all sorts of smokers with all the tips, techniques, hacks & recipes. I've used different woods, different levels of moisture & heat...
I know what I'm doing. I couldn't wait to assemble this smoker & get her going. Its inaugural mission was a low-cost bottom round, ~ 8lbs. Gave it a nice rub, pitted some garlic in there & smoked it.
I added veggie scraps to the water & I used wood from an old dead branch from the kindling pile.
I pulled it after about 3 hours at an internal temp of 130f, then let it rest for a half hour. A bottom round is a cheap cut of beef, similar to a chuck steak. If you don't cook it SLOW, it'll end up rubbery as a tire. You'll never be able to chew it.
As you can see, it came out near perfect (I meant to pull it at 125f, but beer). But the flavor & consistency were perfection. It had a deep, rich smoky taste without overpowering. A lot of times if you use liquid smoke or similar, the whole thing just tastes like smoke flavor.
This tasted like rare roast beef, smoked to perfection. Tender & juicy like butter. I piled up slices of it. It came out like a tenderloin. You'd never know it was a bottom round.
I love this smoker & I'll use it all the time. It's such a great investment & it's so easy to learn. Must have.

Awesome smoker! Very large capacity. Consistent temps and good smoke.
Very high quality smoker and very easy to use. There's a decent amount of assembly required which took me about an hour. The instructions were clear and all you need is a Phillips screwdriver. It took about 2 hours at 275 to get the remnants of the assembly oil to smoke off. I use a two zone BT thermometer so I probably won't use the temp probe often, but it works. So far I've made a large batch of pork belly burnt ends, and smoked a whole turkey for Thanksgiving - both turned out perfect! One batch of soaked apple/hickory chips per cook was plenty - good smoke throughout. Temperature remained more or less consistent with no more than 5 degrees variation. The door seals nicely and the only smoke coming out was from the top mounted adjustable smoke baffle. The glass front is nice, but plan on cleaning it after every cook if you want to see inside. No paint peeling anywhere. Quality surpasses that of my MB upright that this replaced. No issues to report and I'm very happy with it! I would recommend and it definitely deserves my 5-star rating!

Works well
I’ve been smoking my meat on a medium BGE for the last decade, but I finally broke down and got this electric smoker. Don’t get me wrong, the BGE works great, but I have to monitor the temperature all the time and with the East Oak smoker I can set it and forget it. Plus, I have very limited space on the BGE, whereas the East Oak has 4 pullout shelves that are ~15” wide and 12 1/4” deep.
This smoker, with the legs, took me about an hour to assemble, but it’s worth it to have that extra height which helps when I’m inserting and removing the meat (not as much bending over). There’s also 2 wheels on the back legs and a handle bar that gets screwed to the back of the smoker, which makes wheeling the smoker around very easy. After “burning out” the smoker for 2 hours per the instructions, I soaked hickory wood chips in water and discovered that I had made about twice as much as I needed. Next time I’ll measure the amount of wood chips necessary in the smoker box and then soak those chips. I was surprised that the wood chips were still smoking after 5 hours, but I did fill the smoker box to the limit. My pork rib racks were longer than the shelf width of 15”, so I had to cut the rack in half and both halves fit on one shelf. Two shelves of ribs for the trail run. I followed the Franklin method of cooking ribs and they came out great. It was a little windy during the smoke and the temperature displayed on the smoker was all over the place, so even though I set it for 275, it basically stayed in the 220 to 270 range. At the end of the timer I set on the smoker, it beeped a few times and then automatically lowered the temp to 120. The ribs came out great and took less effort than the other way I was smoking my meat, plus I can smoke 4 long racks of ribs at the same time.
