Perfect Indoor Security Camera—Essential for Peace of Mind on Vacation and Everyday Use!
I bought the Ecobee indoor smart camera along with the Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera before leaving on vacation, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my home security setup. This camera allowed me to monitor multiple entry points in real-time while we were away, giving us total peace of mind.
Reliable Monitoring for Every Entry Point:
Setting up the camera was quick and straightforward, and I positioned it to cover a key entry point in the house. During our trip, the camera’s live feed and instant alerts let me check in anytime, providing an extra layer of security beyond just the doorbell camera. The clarity of the video feed was excellent, both day and night, and I could rely on it to see exactly what was happening at home.
Great for Future Use:
Now that we’re back, the camera is still proving invaluable. It seamlessly integrates with the Ecobee ecosystem, meaning I get alerts directly on my thermostat and other devices. I can also use it to check on our home in real-time, which is perfect for keeping an eye on things when I’m out. The fact that it doubles as a chime for the doorbell camera is an added bonus, making sure we’re alerted to any movement at the front door as well.
Overall:
Whether you’re going on vacation or just want to keep your home secure day-to-day, this Ecobee indoor smart camera is an outstanding investment. It’s reliable, easy to use, and gives you peace of mind, both when you’re home and away. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their home security!

DO NOT BUY! Deceptive Company! Requires monthly fee to use!
This camera does not work without a monthly subscription! It doesn't say that anywhere on this page so they are deceptive!
I have several cheaper cameras and they ALL work with no monthly fee! The cameras notify my phone every time they see motion, capture video, you can use two way voice with them, etc. so why do we have to pay our hard earned money to Ecobee for the SAME functionality that every other company does for the cost of a camera a third of the price of Ecobees?
Also, it says "Smart Security is intelligent enough to recognize your pets and kids, so you won’t get unnecessary alerts." The camera was sending me NON-STOP notifications because it thought my parked motorcycle was a human. LOL!
Now that my "free trial" is over, the camera is literally nonfunctioning garbage. And that's where I have to throw it along with my $99.
I will NEVER buy anything from Ecobee again. The GREED of wanting our money every month for doing NOTHING is astounding!

Poor connection with HomeKit, bad night vision, most features require monthly subscription.
Using this as a baby monitor, in that mode. This unit drops signal all of the time. Wifi access point is in the same room, attached with 1GB CAT6 back-haul to the router. The app drops the signal and the unit will be unavailable for a few minutes, then will come back on. This is every few hours via the Ecobee app. When this happens, the camera in HomeKit goes "offline" and I am alerted. Even when I can get it working in the app on my phone it takes 5-10 seconds just to pull up the signal (even you have just tabbed away from the app it drops the view and needs to retrieve it again when you return) and it would 50% of the time still be offline in HomeKit. For having the WiFi Access Point in the room, it is not a great picture. Should be crystal clear, but seems to compress and re-set the keyframe every 1-3 seconds on the live feed. Motion detection does not seem to work well at all and to take a photo or video you need the monthly subscription, but I am using HomeKit for that purpose. Night vision is very poor compared to other baby monitors we have tested. We got this one for the HomeKit implementation because we wanted it to be visible on our Apple TVs in other rooms. Instead I now need a dedicated iPad running the Ecobee app to get it 80% of the time. On numerous occasions I have woken up to my son crying in his room but the camera has lost the signal and he is very upset. It also makes a VERY LOUD "CLICK" when you turn to IR, which can wake the baby. Bad radio, bad connection, bad quality, bad IR.

Terrible night vision
Great during the day, terrible at night!! When there is plenty of light, that camera is fantastic, the motion sensor, and following feature are great… however, turn off the light and the world doesn’t exist anymore. It’s so bad, that, if you look at the attached photo, the two faint white lines you barely see, is a door, 10 feet away, with the light of the room reflecting on it.

Nothing but FRUSTRATION
The amount of time I have spent in utter frustration, anger, and annoyance with this camera is insane.
We received it off our baby registry. I had done my research and was excited to use it as a baby monitor. For the first few months, it worked quite well. This may have been because the camera was set up in our room and we were always quite close to it.
At 6 months we moved our baby to her room, on the floor beneath us. Our bedroom is stacked directly above hers. The only barrier is the floor. This is when the camera started going sideways. We religiously used the “audio monitoring” feature to listen to her since it’s very hard to hear her through the house. We’d leave the audio monitoring on overnight as we slept so we could know if she started to cry.
Well - the audio monitoring began to REGULARLY cut out. The feed would fail. This is impossible to know when you’re ASLEEP. We’d wake up and wonder why she was so quiet - she wasn’t. Our dumb camera had just cut out at some point in the night. This started happening multiple times per day and night. I had to buy a back-up old school monitor just so we could sleep without worry.
So often I’ve opened the camera and had to keep refreshing, dozens and dozens of times to get the camera to load. And it still won’t. Little did we know it would also power cycle on and off when it was having trouble connecting which would flood our dark nursery (with baby sleeping) with bright white flashing lights and wake her up.
I am so so so so fed up with this piece of garbage. I’ve tried calling customer support, and they tend to blame it on our Wi-Fi - which is whack. Our Wi-Fi is perfectly capable of supporting other devices. It’s the camera. It’s awful. I wish I could return it - but it was a gift. So know I need to drop a bunch of money on a new camera so I can sleep peacefully.

Perfect from security camera to baby camera
I like the motion detection and the day quality. The night vision can be improved but for the price and camera quality it’s perfect! The HomeKit connection is good but sometimes I experienced some issues trying to acces from the home app.

Pretty Cool!
The app gave me a little problem at first but once it's all set up it works great. It's super easy to mount. The app can be downloaded on multiple devices and use same log in to access live footage.

Good camera for a good price
The quality was really pretty good and I love the panoramic view. Other cameras I’ve purchased had to be placed as far back as possible to see the whole room. But this one was much more convenient. The app is simple to use, and I love that it has an alarm feature.

It’s well built super nice video quality. I don’t like that it doesn’t have an SD slot so you can record on an SD card, however, it have a video recording service you can purchase for $4.99 a month.

This is an easy to set up security camera, with excellent sound and ease of use. I also like that it has the option to sound a siren. The pictures are clear.
I don't like that I have to pay extra for some options, like recording.

False person detected notifications, lots of them.
Overall a good camera but it alerts me all day everyday to "person detected" when there is no person there. Quite an annoyance to have 50 to 100 9f these every time I'm away. I have sensitivity set to lowest setting and activity zone set to only view windows and door. Have turned this setting off but it still sends the alerts. I've gotten 3 while I wrote this review. Make that 5.

Sleek great picture
I’m excited for our new indoor Alexa enabled home security camera. Now when I’m reading in bed, hear a noise and assume I’m about to be a goner, I can check my app and stay lazily laying in bed. The picture is great, you can pan and the design is sleek. If you’re in the market for a baby monitor this would a great product to get!

Nice security camera
I was looking for a good indoor security camera for our home. And liked ecobee indoor security camera because of its sleek design and useful features. Now, the one thing that I don't have to worry about is home security, when we are away.
Setting it up was such a breeze. Quick and easy to assemble. Its lightweight, and can be fixed on wall or placed on a flat surface for monitoring.
My favorite feature is the smart focus feature, which recognizes when a moving person enters the frame and adjusts camera's focus to keep them front and center as they move.
I love the ease and convenience of its control via Ecobee app on my phone. Now, I can see whats happening at my home from anywhere.

Limited compatibility but well done
Overall the camera provide a clear view that will meet the needs of most homeowners. Although this is an indoor camera, there is the window view option that allows you to place the camera in a window to capture the world outside. The night vision was pretty solid compared to other we have tested. The camera uses 3 high-powered infrared LEDs with mechanical ICR filter. It was able to spot our all black cat and zoom surprisingly close for nightvision. We found the camera to be very reliable even when we were away. The smart detection features were extremely accurate. The setup was relatively easy however we did have some challenges and things we felt could be improved upon with future updates. I think this is a solid start to the expanding ecobee ecco system. This will be a great option for people who already have a ecobee thermostat and want a very simple and easy to use home monitoring system. The biggest drawback I think for most people will be the monthly subscription.
In order to access any of the video capturing features you will need to subscribe to their home monitoring program. Ecobee is at the beginning phases of rolling out their home monitoring product line. With that being said the product line is limited to the indoor camera, a few sensors and the thermostat. I think for most people adding an additional monthly fee for such a limited product line might be hard for people to justify the expense. You are far better off using a echo dot for voice commands. Where the feature is usefull is on the two way commincation where it acts as a baby monitor. Now for the setup process. We ran into a lot of hiccups here. Although the process is pretty straightforward we had a hard time connecting to the ecobee servers. In addition one thing I think could be solved for with a future update in the wifi network search. Unlike most smart devices where you will see a list of local networks, currently it is manual and you have to physically input your SSID. The setup also requires you to input your personal phone number which I think might be an issue for some people. With such a bold product statement as: “The indoor security camera that gives you more insight into your home.” I would have liked to see more features packed into the camera that actually give insight into your home like temperature, air quality ext.More advance home autiomation enthisists may find the camera limiting especially if you already have a home monitoring system, adding this camera at this time doesn’t seem like it would be worth the $180 price tag.

Great motion detection, clear image, and seamless integration with Alexa and my smart watch
Initial thoughts:
The ecobee SmartCamera with voice control was extremely easy to set up. Within minutes of opening the box, I was on the app and able to securely monitor my home remotely. The camera is heavy and well-made and the magnetic mount options are versatile and easy to use. The camera has an excellent field of vision and is easy to control through the app. It is so great to be able to keep an eye on my child in his nursery using the ecobee SmartCamera with voice control and to monitor my home.
After using for one week:
I still love the Ecobee SmartCamera with voice control and I have really enjoyed using this to monitor my home.
The image is very clear and bright. It is easy to see details during daylight or in incandescent lighting. The nighttime vision is excellent and clear.
The tracking feature is very appealing. The internal camera moves to follow an object, but the outside of the camera stays in the same location. This helps keep the camera more incognito. My absolute favorite feature is the ability to detect a person. The Ecobee app will alert me right away if there is a person in the field of the camera. As someone who has pets, this is an amazing feature. I love that I know instantly what is triggering the motion alert.
Through the ecobee app, I get a notification on my phone when the camera is armed. I also have the ecobee app on my watch, so I receive a notification there as well. When linked to Alexa, I can receive an Alexa notification when there is motion on my camera. It is great to get instant notifications as soon as motion is detected.
The monthly subscription unlocks additional services, such as the ability to save videos and to capture photo snapshots of images on the camera.
I have really enjoyed using the Ecobee SmartCamera with voice control to monitor my home and keep my family safe.

Pretty little thing!
We’ve only had this for a short time, but right out of the box it’s beautiful! So sleek and not an eye sore. It was super easy to set up. I love that it’s not filming all day long and you can set up motion detection for when you are away. We already have the ecobee smart thermostat and love that you can activate it all through Alexa or Siri. So far we totally love it.

Perfect Pet camera!
We set this up in our living room for our dog Cheese! He's usually good when we are away, but sometimes we need to keep and eye on him and keep the other residents in our neighborhood happy - with less barking. So now we can monitor his every move, and train him to keep quiet ;)

Peace of mind & blends into my decor!
We have tried so many different monitors & cameras over the last 6 years and settled on a brand we have been loyal to for a while. When asked to give ecobee a try, I didn't anticipate I'd want to switch our entire house over and yet here we are. The selling factors for me were: 1. the option to have the camera turn off when family members were detected in the room (no more feeling constantly watched in your own home!) 2. The difference in color and quality of the video and 3. The ability to pan the camera to see more of the room. This camera literally can replace two existing cameras because it can pan from the front door to the back door with just one camera! (This would also have been really nice when our kids were first out of cribs because we "lost" them so many times due to going out of the frame of our cameras. I love that unless you're looking for it, you don't even notice it in my decor! Not having to compromise aesthetic for peace of mind is a huge plus for me! For more photos and video of my unboxing and initial impression, follow my ig @goodasitgoetzhome and check out the highlight "ecobee"!
The camera was provided to me as part of a collaboration, but the opinions are 100% mine! :)

Sleek design camera
First impression of this camera is this camera comes with a nice packaging . It also has mounting screw so you can put on the wall if needed. However i use on a desk as a monitor to watch my newborn baby.
The installation is easy. Just download the Ecobee app and create an account and set it up.
The video quality is 1080P HD which is the highest resolution indoor camera on market . Also it comes with autopilot motion which allow you to receive notification immediately from the phone.
The only thing i dont like about this camera is it must be wired all time but the wire charge is long enough . I look forward to Ecobee that will make wireless version later so i can get another one for my parents room.

It’s a camera and an Alexa in one
If you need a camera that is simple to install, has great day and night quality, has loads of features (person detection, away detection, automatically take photos), integrates with Alexa and is an Alexa itself, this is the camera for you. I really only had one complaint during setup which is that it had me type in my SSID for WiFi instead of finding available WiFi. Other than that, it set up in minutes. It could be mounted or goes on a stand. It has two way communication (mic and speaker).

Good Visual Quality
When purchasing a smart camera, you need to determine what attributes are important and what device you want to connect it to. The camera's video quality is great. I currently have Ring and the quality of this camera beat the socks off of Ring. Also, with the app, you can move the view right, left, up, and down so I liked the functionality of the camera.
The camera does not replace an outdoor camera. It has to be plugged in so you will definitely need to use it somewhere indoors, which wasn't an issue for me since I already use Ring video camera outside. It would be nice if it had some temporary charge when not connected to power, but when the power is disconnected, the camera doesn't work.
I was able to connect to Alexa pretty easily. I had to enable a skill, which is key, prior to making it work. I was also able to connect it to Apple Home Kit very easily. I also use Google Home/Assistant, but after three attempts to connect it, I gave up. I will only use it with Alexa.
So, my opinion, is that it doesn't replace your outdoor camera, but the quality is great and is good if you are looking for an indoor option.

Easy Set-Up
I've been using this cam for the last few days. I came well-packaged in a box with easy to read instructions and hanging supplies should you want to mount it. Set-up was super easy, just download the Ecobee app and follow the on-screen directions. Took less than 5 minutes. I placed mine on top of my kitchen cabinets for optimal view of most of the first floor.
This camera does require you to plug it in to a power outlet, but connects to wifi seamlessly via your mobile device (at least it did with my iPhone). I added a picture i screenshotted (yep, made that word up) from the live view during the day, and the same view at night. You can see the image is a wide view and very clear.
You can customize the alerts for motion detection and person detection by drawing the area of interest on the screen. My favorite feature is "autopilot" which uses your phone's vicinity to determine if your camera should be on or off. Basically, once your phone connects to your wifi when you arrive home, the camera turns off (you can toggle it on manually should you want to see something). When you leave and your phone is no longer detected, the camera turns on.
There is an option to add paid monitoring. I don't know how much it costs because I have a Ring system on my house and don't need additional monitoring costs. There is also an option to link this camera to your Alexa, but after I did it I couldn't figure out the benefit. Like, what did it do for the camera? Nothing that I could tell. When I would talk to my Alexa, it changed to the camera speaker to reply to me for everything (even when I selected the Echo speaker as my primary speaker in the Alexa app). So, I unlinked the Alexa app from the camera to stop that.
All in all, a very functional little camera that's easy to use.
