1st one arrived busted but the 2nd arrived in perfect condition and so quickly too! Thank you for shipping in a smaller box with paper! It worked!

This Radio is beautiful. Great design, perfect size. Not too big or small. Synced with my phone really easily. I love the sound quality. It's crisp and has a great base. I heard subtle details in a song that I never heard before. Wish it was made of real wood though. Well worth the money I think. I'm not sure how long the battery lasts yet but I'll find out in time.

Pleasant surprise.

It may be me but when I see a new shiny Bluetooth speaker I tend to buy them even though I already own several. Some become your favorites and others just kind of find their way into the drawer or closet. Luckily this one became a fast favorite. I really like the overall design of the speaker and it reminds me of the old vintage 40's and 50's radios. The tactile buttons are great and I love having this thing on my desk. I quite like the tactile buttons. Its nice to have play/pause and volume readily available. Overall the sounds is pretty damn good. Its slightly on the warm side and the bass is surprisingly good and it gets pretty loud. I also like that it has a micro SD card slot on the back along with a 3.5 aux jack so if you have other sources of music you can utilize those. Given its overall build quality and its features and sound I can highly recommend this little Bluetooth speaker. Looks great on a desk or a shelf for sure.

Not the 'real wood' I was expecting, but looks and sounds phenomenal

PROS: fantastic retro styling; wooden outer chassis really does provide richer sound, the bass is especially deep; easy to use controls; AUX in port (and cable is included!); USB-C port can be used for input from other devices; quickly and easily detected my phone and laptop for Bluetooth connection; strong BT signal while in use; SD card slot and playback controls included

CONS: based on the product description I thought the outer shell would be made from a single block of wood that was hollowed out with a router or something, but it's apparently some kind of wood covered in a plastic covering with woodgrain printed on it. There's a nice stamped woodgrain texture, but the fact that the woodgrain print is in soft focus gives it away as a plastic covering. The illusion is pretty convincing indoors but when I took it out in sunlight I could immediately tell I wasn't looking at a real wood surface.

However, it must be constructed of real wood inside because it does sound noticeably richer than my all-plastic or plastic and metal speakers---I have several. Even when played at high volume, the sound doesn't get tinny or distorted.

I guess it's still a good value for the price, other speakers I've seen that ARE made from a solid block of wood also cost about twice as much as this.

Old School look and nice sound

This speaker is ok, I do love the retro look. It's easy to connect to Bluetooth, the sound is good just enough for a room, has nice base as well. I really like the buttons too, such a unique look and very easy to use and big enough to see. Has all the connections in the back it needs. For me though the price is really steep for such a small speaker with OK sound. The look is unique and cool which I think might be why the price is a bit steep for me, but if you're looking for retro this is it.

Blown Away

I've had my fair share of both connected and bluetooth speakers. This one is one of the best I've heard and given its small size, that's very impressive. Let me first say, I'm no audiophile. I probably couldn't tell much of a difference between a $200 speaker and a $2000 speaker outside of intensity and air movement. This thing is not big. It's a little smaller than a motorcycle battery but really packs a punch. Turning it on and connecting it to my phone was simple enough as the buttons are clearly marked on the front of the speaker. There's a audible and tangible click to the buttons that let you know you've activated that button. The +/- buttons work both for volume with single clicks and work to forward or reverse the tracks with a press and hold. I tested this speaker with several genres and tempos of music. The bass reproduction is so much bigger than this speaker and it gets loud with very little distortion. The little that I heard could probably be chalked up to rattling around it but didn't investigate further as it was plenty loud. I'd describe the sound generated as warm and as full as I've heard from a bluetooth speaker. I was able to walk away from the speaker and walk throughout my home without interference or the sound breaking up. Overall, I was highly impressed with this speaker and for under a $100, it's well worth the price. This speaker isn't going to fill a hall with sound or even a large banquet facility, but it'll pump the tunes while you're cleaning or working in the garage. Again, I'm not an audiophile and I'm well aware there are far better speaker systems and bluetooth speakers. That said, I'd rather have 3 of these than 1 of the more expensive bluetooth speakers. I'd definitely purchase again and recommend this to anyone looking for a new and powerful bluetooth speaker.

~Sound is crisp and sounds good overall. There however is not much low-end bass if you are wanting that.

SUMMARY

I have this beautiful little speaker on my office desk at work. Since I can't blast music in this setting, this speaker is perfect. The sound overall is really clear and more than adequate. It also looks so nice and unobtrusive.

Awesome Speaker

We use this in our living room that has no TV - basically this room is for sitting, reading, listening to music, etc. With the dual input methods this speaker has - it is perfect to stay connected to the record player via the audio port, yet can easily connect to a cell-phone at any moment via Bluetooth for other music.

The wood finish looks great, retro, and more classy than a white or black plastic. The little speaker sounds great and the extra wattage adds a nice bass and tone to it.

Highly recommended.

For $99 I would pass. Decent bass, muddy sounding highs. Cute aesthetic.

It's a cool looking speaker, the feel of the wood and the build quality all feel great. The BT prompts aren't overly annoying. It gets fairly loud while playing fairly clean. The Bass is good for a sub $100 speaker. Those are all the positives.

The rest of the sound is complicated. For one it's a very directional sound, so if you are not sitting on-axis the already subdued highs get even worse. Sounds very muddy when compared to a $50 Earfun U Boom, literally half the price, same bass (until the last volume steps, then it gets thinner). But even sitting on-axis it's missing a lot of the sparkle in the upper range. I would not pay $100 for this speaker. Buy 2x Earfun U Booms for the same price and have a stereo soundstage with much bigger sound. The U booms are very stable at good distances, you can create a very large stage with them.

Great looking retro speaker

Aesthetically this is an outstanding BT speaker.Charging and set up were simple and connection to my phone was a snap. You turn it on for the first time and it automatically pairs with your phone. Easy Peasy. Sound-wise it is very good. If you like bass, this is the speaker for you. Mid and bass are strong while upper ranges aren't quite as crisp as I would like. "S's" in lyrics are not clear, but it is a small speaker and you can't expect perfection. The sound doesn't measure up to my favorite speaker (rhymes with Nose), but it might not be fair to make that comparison. This speaker is better than many others I've had and it will be used often.

Big Sound and Style, Tiny Speaker

This isn’t my first Edifier and I’m pleased to report that the quality of this speaker is even better than what I was expecting.

I have about 100 portable Bluetooth speakers. Some are good, some are horrible, but none of them have ever been great. This speaker is great. From the detail and care taken with the packaging to the actual speaker itself clad in real wood and metal, this is an impressive product.

The styling is fantastic. I’m a big fan of mid-century design and this speaker is oozing with that 1950s/1960s aesthetic. From the wood to the fabric grill, the details are flawless. It’s worth mentioning that the wood and fabric are on the front and back (no cheaping out with a plastic backside). The controls and logo medallion are a copper tone that gives the speaker a touch of modern. It looks great on my bedside table.

The sound is the most important part though isn’t it? Well this little powerhouse delivers in the sound department. By its very nature as a Bluetooth speaker it isn’t going to be audiophile quality but it’s still very good. The volume is completely sufficient to fill a small room like a bedroom or office and is exceptionally clean and clear. The highs are crisp without being tinny or shrill and the lows are surprisingly rich and deep with no boominess or muddiness. The sound stage is wide and detailed no matter where you are sitting in relation to the speaker.

To sum up…this speaker is great. It looks fantastic, it sounds wonderful and it is built immaculately. This speaker gets my highest recommendation.

Wow! Wow!

This little speaker rocks! Sounds fantastic mids, highs and plenty of bass shine together nicely! The retro look is also where this speaker shines. Build quality is fantastic as with other Edifier products that I own. Charging was fast via USB-C. Battery life is sufficient. Connected seamlessly to my iPad. This is a top notch Bluetooth/wireless speaker. I highly recommend.

Looks expensive, meh sound, no bass

This has no bass whatsoever, but it’s a good speaker for watching YouTube videos. I’ll probably get something a little better for the house for entertaining but this is fine for work or to use in my classroom. The set up is easy and I love the old time radio look. I’m just disappointed in the sound quality and it’s not worth the price tag.

Attractive bluetooth speaker, sounds really good...but a bit expensive

This Edifier bluetooth speaker interested me for a couple of reasons. First, I'm familiar with the brand, particularly the well-regarded bluetooth bookshelf speakers they've been making for a while now. Second, the appearance of this speaker is quite distinctive, with a wood-look, midcentury vibe. Very cool.

You should not that this isn't particularly designed to be a carry-around speaker, although you could, I guess. It's a decent size but clearly looks like it's supposed to sit on a desk, in a bookcase, or somewhere else it can be admired, as it's very attractive. I like that it doesn't just look like every other black and chrome bluetooth speaker. I also like the control buttons on front that are clearly but unobtrusively marked, unlike on so many speakers. In all, a nicely designed unit.

The Edifier speaker comes well packaged; it seems pretty impervious to shipping damage. It comes in a box-within-a-box style and includes both a charging cable and a connecting plug for use with just about anything with a micro port (sorry, current iPhone users). I like that it has this option besides the bluetooth-only approach in most speakers I've seen lately.

The speaker connects quickly and well to bluetooth sources. But how does it sound? The answer: It sounds really good. I played For a portable bluetooth speaker, it has a nicely balanced sound with quite good bass and nicely clear but restrained treble. (Some speakers have a treble tone that seems harsh to me; not this one.) The speaker seems to have quite a battery capacity, too; I played it quite a while and it held up nicely.

Any downsides? The only thing that comes to mind is that, while it's very nice, it still costs about a hundred bucks. That's not out of line with similar products, I guess, but it still seems like a pretty good chunk of change for a bluetooth speaker. Still, I appreciate the Edifier brand quality and the performance of this particular product, so maybe it makes sense, especially if the vibe fits into your living space. Bottom line: I like this speaker a lot.

Looks great, sounds great.

I like the compact form factor and wood finish— it just happens to be almost exactly the finish of the furniture in our largest guest bedroom. I hang out in there sometimes, so background music from an actual speaker and not just my phone is going to be nice. It doesn’t come with a usb power block, just the usb-c cable that plugs into a power block, so know that you’ll need to provide your own usb power source.

Connection to my phone via Bluetooth was quick and easy. The buttons are simple: on/off, play/pause, Bluetooth connect, and volume up or down. It should be self explanatory and useable for most guests we would host. I’m very pleased and believe it’s a reasonable price for the quality. It doesn’t sound great at full blast (too echo-y on the bass), but for background to moderate volumes, it’s very good.
