Amazing battery life.

I bought this specifically because I don't want to have to pay a monthly fee to have access to video of my front door camera. This fits the bill nicely. The homebase sits next to my cable modem and router and also functions as the doorbell. When I want or need to review the video from today (or anytime in the last few days. I've still not tested to see how far back it stores them) I can do that right from my phone without a subscription. That is exactly what I was looking for.

I've had this in place for just under a year now and it has worked flawlessly. Since I've had it in place for nearly a year, I am writing this review for one reason and one reason only: to talk about battery life. In my image, I have a screenshot from the app taken on 4/16/26 after 293 working days, 2152 events and 909 recorded events. That was on the first charge of the battery. In fact, I am so lazy that I didn't get around to charging it until it had been working for 321 days and was down to 7% battery life. I only recharged it then because running on such a low charge isn't good for the battery.

Prior to purchase, I read many reviews that said the battery life was poor. That is not my experience at all. When set to balanced surveillance, I got very close to a year. As I said, that was detecting over 2000 events and recording more than 900. I'd have likely been able to get much more if I could have lowered the recording length to less than 30 seconds -though maybe not, there was rarely motion for that long anyway. Mostly just delivery drivers leaving packages. In one case, a package was pretty light and the camera showed it being blown from my porch into a plant north of my house where I found it after reviewing the video.

The picture is great, it works day/night, records audio and video and you can also talk to the visitor from the app on your phone. All that with no monthly fee. This is well worth the price.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great doorbell, but battery life could be better

The eufy Security Video Doorbell S220 works great overall — clear video and reliable notifications. The only downside is the battery life; it only lasts about a month with frequent use, so I ended up hardwiring it. It offers a couple of connection options, which is nice. I still prefer Ring for performance, but for the price and the fact that there are no monthly fees, this doorbell is an amazing value.

Love everything about this Eufy doorbell!👍🏽

Really happy with my purchase of this Eufy doorbell/Storage server. The photo quality is GREAT in both the daytime & nighttime. Mounting & setup was super quick & easy. One of the biggest reasons I chose this doorbell was the feature of not having to pay a monthly subscription fee for storage or monitoring & that's definitely one of the nicest benefits. There is an option to sign up with Eufy for more in depth monitoring (similar to having an alarm system monitoring company) for a monthly fee, but it's not necessary for me, personally. However the option is there if you want it. The storage device also has the option to increase storage space even more by using a mini SD card, however I've had my doorbell setup for almost 2 years now & have hardly made a dent in the available storage, even without using any additional SD card. I love that I can check live footage of my doorbell anytime without needing the doorbell button to be triggered first, which I know is required on many other doorbell models. I haven't had any connection issues with the doorbell or related app & battery life has been really good also. Just remember, the more motion being detected, the more you're going to have to recharge the battery... so just configure your motion detection settings accordingly. My only complaint is that it's hard for the person at the door to hear me talking to them sometimes & I wish the volume was louder. I can hear them perfectly, they just struggle to hear me. I DO live on a very busy road though, which is probably part of the problem but all in all, I'm really happy with this purchase & highly recommend it.

Poorly made mounting bracket.

Camera quality seems good but doesn't matter since the device wont snap into the mounting bracket like it should. Not only does this leave the camera venerable to theft but I was afraid to leave the device in the bracket out of fear that it would fall and break.

No live feed and cannot talk through it

I worked with this camera for about a month. I got 3 replacements after speaking with the customer support! All replacements had the same issue. I spent a lot of my time reconnecting new cameras, on the phone with customer support. Doing every change they suggested to make this work and it just wouldn't.

Mind you, it would detect movement and work for only that instance. It would try to connect to talk, but essentially failed. The only thing this was good for is a temporary use to see if someone was there. But it was frustrating for me and the visitor when trying to talk.

I could never check live feed to see if there was a package the camera missed. Or just to see through it. Installation wasn't terrible, but after setting up a total of 4 cameras one right after the other.... quite irritating. I really wanted this camera to work. Ultimately, I returned it and all the others. I got a Google nest instead. And that was so much easier to set up and I haven't had issues yet.

Ugh!!!! So frustrating.

I was super excited about this but I am about ready to hit it with a hammer then roll over it with my car. Constant P2P connection issues. Sometimes it works, but usually not. I've tried everything possible such as reset, reinstall, remove 5ghz WiFi from my router, Ethernet connect, port forwarding, dancing with it, signing to it, taking it out for drinks... nothing works. I've spent HOURS trying to get it working. Ordered a replacement and same thing.

I'm disappointed because I had high hopes for it. Emailed support, but from other reviews it'll likely end up in me returning the whole dang thing.

Perfect NuTone replacement and existing Eufy system addition

Just in time for Girl Scout Cookie sale season!

I replaced a 30+-year-old NuTone 4006 doorbell using an eBay-sourced Ring mounting plate (from thedoorbellman - had to drill one hole). Works great, the field of view is fine, and Alexa integration means I can actually *hear* doorbell-pressed chimes and announcements throughout the house, vs. the elderly NuTone's wheeze.

A few points: (1) Firmware updates frequently so many online how-to videos are obsolete. I had to add the HomeBase 2 unit first, then the doorbell cam. (2) My Orbi RBS750 router saw the HomeBase on both Ethernet and WiFi during setup. I attached the HB to an Orbi RBS350 Satellite's Ethernet port for operation and the router still sees both ENet and WiFi. (3) Alexa integration with my existing system is a snap, just turn it on in the Eufy app and add the Eufy Security skill to Alexa (mine was already on). (4) Doesn't reach NuTone patio station; I may add a dongle-and-chime for when I'm in the backyard.

Updates to come, when I have the data: nighttime operation, video announcement on Fire TV, etc.

Slow reaction time for apartment

We chose this video doorbell due to the lack of a subscription needed, and the information being stored on the home base instead of the camera (in case it was stolen, because it is mounted to our door instead of drilled into the wall because we’re in an apartment). The video quality is comparable to the other two brands we tried out, but the motion detection lags so much that it barely recorded people as they walked by. We had a problem with package thieves, with this camera they would get away with it if they just ran by! Definitely not the product to go with if you need fast motion detection like in an apartment or dorm hallway. We tried Ring as well, but ultimately chose Blink (with a sync module) to stay with.

GREAT 2K Battery Operated Doorbell Camera/Homebase Chime

My son has one of these, after doing some research, I purchased, recieved quickly. Easy Set, install. I didn't have enough room to replace my wired doorbell and install the eufy doorbell, so I mounted to the left of my front door. It says to drill a 15/64 in bit/hole for the inserts, I used a 1/4 in bit the inserts worked fine, didn't want to have to go buy another drill bit. Very good quality video, audio and the 16GB storage is great. Only downside is the battery is Rechargeable, but not replaceable if the battery dies, that is the ONLY downfall I see with this. HIGHLY recommend this camera. I have a RING at my other house, yes, have to pay for cloud storage, but when it dies, I will get this doorbell to replace it. I used the 15 degree wedge, Wide Field of View.

Should your money buy you a product that works and lasts?

The biggest con with usage of this product is the motion detection / re-triggering is poor. It does not consistently trigger & re-trigger when motion is present. It might get the first half and not the rest or it might start in the middle of an event leaving this initial motion out of the recording.

Additionally, I have had 2 of these doorbell units fail on me in the past year. The first one lasted a month. I chalked that failure up to a fluke. The second failed just a few weeks after the 1 year warranty ended. Surprisingly, Eufy support refused to help. I have sincere concerns about the longevity of this product.

I'll be seeking another manufacturer with better motion capture capability and less failures / better support.

C

Constantly rings on it's own with no one there.

Human Detection does not work if you carry something large like a big box that changes your shape. Then it won't record video or notify you of the motion. The reason for a one star review is, This doorbell constantly rings (the chime rings and I get a doorbell ring notification) without anyone actually at the door. This mostly happens at night and often wakes me up. The attached video is of a supposed "ring". I can't get any help from Eufy. The lack of support for this or anything for that matter just ads to the frustration. At this point I'm regretting this purchase and about ready to switch to another brand of video doorbell.

Never Too Old To Learn

Doesn't need cloud storage

We had an old wired doorbell, but we didn't want to mess with the wires, so we put up our new battery operated Eufy doorbell right next to the old one. We have stucco over concrete blocks for our house construction, and although I have a hammer setting on my drill, we couldn't make a nice hole in the wall for the screws. So, we put up the Eufy doorbell with heavy-duty double-sided tape, and it's holding well. (EZlifego Double Sided Tape - Nano Double Sided) Also, I didn't want to have to pay extra every month for storage. The Eufy videos are saved in the app on your phone, and also stored on the Homebase. You can easily delete videos you don't need to save from your phone and from your Homebase, from the app. The Homebase plugs into the wall, and connects to your Wi-Fi, and pairs with the doorbell and your app. They give you suggestions as to where to mount the doorbell. We had a lot of bright backlight, so we mounted it on the side wall next to the front door. We set it to "motion" alert, because we really don't get animals on our screened-in porch, but you can set it to only recognize humans. When someone comes to the house we get an alert on our phones (both my husband and I), and if they press the doorbell, we get an alert and also the doorbell chimes on the Homebase. It only takes a couple of seconds for the Eufy to start recording. We generally delete the videos after watching them. You are supposed to be able to interact with your visitors, either speaking live, or using a recorded comment, but we haven't figured out how to make that live interaction work yet. But the video of the person at your door pops up immediately on my phone, so I know who is there. The night vision is very clear, but if you want full color you can get a Eufy motion-detecting light. The first doorbell we received wouldn't hold a charge, so they overnighted a new replacement. I have to say that customer service is amazing. I have to keep my phone on the slower Wi-Fi setting, because the doorbell doesn't work with 5G. But we are REALLY liking our new Eufy doorbell.

Update: I was wrong about the 5G. I put my phone on 5G, and the doorbell works perfectly.

Second Update: I just got a notification from the app that the Eufy battery was low. It has been over 7 1/2 months; 503 motions have been detected, and we watch almost all of the videos. Wow! We love our Eufy video doorbell! I also finally was able to drill holes in our stucco-covered concrete block house, and screw on the doorbell. We highly recommend this doorbell.

Third Update: I called Customer Service to find out how to talk to the person at the door. As I already said, Customer Service is amazing. They explained simply how to speak during a live video: On your phone, touch the notification, and go to the live feed. Make sure the arrow is clicked for it to play live video, and a Phone symbol will show beneath the video. When you touch it, you can speak, when you touch it again, you can listen. This is a great system.

Excellent Quality and NO subscription required

I researched all of the video doorbell options, but I was very uncomfortable buying one that requires a subscription. With a subscription, I feel very vulnerable as the manufacturer could raise the subscription price at any time, change the terms, lessen the storage capacity or even shut down altogether (I actually found one brand that had done just that, leaving the buyers in the lurch). There is something to be said for having your security files stored locally and being in full control of them.

The Eufy doorbell camera is one of the very few that offer a subscription-free solution. I chose the version that hardwires to the existing (old) doorbell circuitry and runs off house power since I planned to mount in a location where power was available in the wall. However, before I went through the trouble of hardwiring it, I ran it off it's internal rechargeable battery first to see how long it would last.

I have found that I get a solid 6 months between recharging, so I have decided not to bother with the hardwiring. Recharging is super quick and super easy.

The Eufy app is as good as it gets, offering a range of settings for motion detection including adjustments for sensitivity, "human-only" detection, specific activity zones, etc. These setting are essential if, for example, a sidewalk or a street is visible from your front door as it enables you to isolate the street and/or non-human activity like cars and omit them from triggering your camera.

Image quality is sharp and clear, even at night, and audio quality is on par as well. I chose to share an image in this review from a recent party I had that was obviously a night shot and does not show faces out of respect for my guests' privacy. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it was devilishly fun to hear their comments to each other as they left the party lol.

In the end, I liked the Eufy Doorbell Cam so much I bought the Eufy Outdoor Floodlight Cam and then the Eufy Indoor cam as well, and I am equally thrilled with each of them and will review them separately.

I can't recommend the Eufy doorbell enough. It is everything we hoped it would be and actually quite a bit more.

Cheapest bargain

First day out of the box:

Pros

Super easy to setup/install

No fees with lots of options

Loud/adjustable base doorbell ringer

Clear day vision in direct sunlight

Notifications were almost instant

Local storage

Better than cheap ones I returned

Cons

Using the key to remove doorbell is a pain and will get worn out over time

Easy to lose the key

Night vision is just ok good to about 10-15ft

Charging the doorbell takes forever, 4hrs only added 20%

6+month F/U, I would only recommend if you get this on sale, the battery life is really good, with normal use it def goes the 6 mo Mile, however the notifications and AI need much improvement, it misses package deliveries quite often, even with human motion on highest setting it still misses. The night vision is only avg and I've had to mount this a tad lower to be able to see my packages. It also seems to not be apparent that this is a door Bell and guests tend to just wave their hands in front of it instead of pressing the button

Battery Eufy Doorbell Cam.!👍

I’ve only had this camera for two days but so far I love it! I like that I don’t have to pay a subscription fee and it’s very clear and sensitive and picks up everything that I need to see. The sound is great and very clear. I have a very funny video of my daughter-in-law chasing my grandson up the street because he doesn’t want to go home. It picked up a whole one minute video of the action and I could hear every word. I’m going to add one to the back of the house to watch over the pool. I will give an update later on battery life and to make sure everything is still the same and working good. So far I’m very happy with The battery operated Eufy doorbell cam. Two days and only at 98% Battery with a very busy day of recording on Sunday. I’m able to save the videos and send to my video and camera roll on my iPhone 11. Hope this review helps anyone looking for a good doorbell cam.

I’m very satisfied with Eufy cameras

I waited to give the Eufy cameras a n honest review because I wanted to be thorough in my assignment. I wholeheartedly recommend the Eufy security cameras for the interior and exterior of your home. The setup and installation is flawless. The picture quality is very good and the range is perfect. Currently I have the doorbell, three floodlight cameras, and one cam2 pro. I have the Cam2pro with the built-in solar recharger on order. I’ll probably order another for the exterior and two more for the interior. Eufy is the way to go for home surveillance.

Extremely unreliable!

UPDATE: Oct. 2022- To my shock and embarrassment, a neighborhood preschool girl stopped by yesterday to play with my kid and after ringing the door bell, she started at the door bell and took off running INTO THE STREET! Eufy has updated my doorbell to play Halloween screams whenever someone rings the bell. I was not notified if this change and I cannot find any method in the app to change the doorbell back to how it was or to turn off the screams. What kind of an update is this supposed to be?! Terrible invasion of privacy. I wish I’d never bought their products. UPDATE: Jan. 2022–I’ve now has this system for several months. This system is extremely unreliable. DO NOT rely on this for life safety. You’re better off with a dog, a peephole, and a gun. Specifically, when an alarm is triggered and you open the Alert to open the app to watch the video, more often than not, the video will not load. Forcing you to exit the app entirely and the open the app and try to access the video via the recorded events. Also, when you open a camera to have a live view, more often than not, it will take an e ornous amount of time (20 to 30 seconds) fir the feed to start—but most often, it won’t load and you’ll have yo try again. I go to work VERY early in the morning and I don’t want a phone alert yo wake my wife so I prefer to open the app and turn off the doorbell motion detection as I exit. Often, including this morning, this feature simply did not respond. I tapped the icon to disable it and the screen gave a “loading” icon (spinning circle) but the command never processed. For what these systems costs, this is terrible.

Original review:

I guess it’s OK for what I wanted, but I’m not thrilled or amazed. The saying goes “when seconds count, the police are only minutes away”. Likewise, when trouble comes a-knocking, I don’t think I’d want to bet my life on this. Why? Because the load times and lag are profound! I have a WiFi router and 2 WiFi extenders on my property. If my phone is logged in on the same WiFi antenna as the camera, it loads within a few seconds. If my phone is logged into a different antenna (e.g. the camera on the primary router and my phone on a WiFi range extender), the lag can be ridiculous. Like 20 to 30 seconds kind of ridiculous! That’s all if I’m at home. If I’m away from home? Forget about it! If I’m on cell data, the lag can be long or the video (whether live or recorded event) may not load at all. I don’t know if I can catch any porch pirates with this. I think it’d be more like getting a notification and saying, “Hey! 3 hours ago someone came up to me door and took something! I wonder what county they’re in by now?”

It was fun to thinker with, but I spend most of the time just deleting useless footage of my wife and I going in and out of the house. I’ll keep the system. It’s better than no camera at all. Maybe Eufy will update the app or the firmware to make it a bit faster. I have another Eufy camera and performance is the same. For the price, I expected faster response and better reliability. I’ve included some photos of the typical load screens I get. Picture quality is OK, but I don’t see any benefit WDR setting. Whether it’s on or off, there are areas of the image that are white due to sunlight. I have 2 of these doorbell cameras, both are in covered covered patios so they are out of direct sunlight on the lens. When it’s sunny, the sunlight reflecting off the street asphalt, appears white and anyone approaching the door looks like a silhouette until they are all the way up to the doorbell. So, as far as I can tell, WDR does not work at all in these doorbells.

Defective products

Apparently homebase 2 has a defect direct from the factory. Don't expect to get it replaced after a year. My Homebase 2 now restarts over and over, Apparently it's not an isolated incident. Wish i could return this but it's too late.

"Thanks for your information.

According to your information, I am sorry to say your Homebase is defective. Sorry for all the inconvenience it caused to you.

Unfortunately, your order expired its 12-month warranty on May 9th, 2021. Since this order is already outside the warranty period, I'm afraid an exchange is not possible."

Exceptional video quality*

I love eufy products; I have two cameras, one this video doorbell, and the eufy Indoor Video Camera. Both of these cameras have 2K resolution which gives a true clear picture, with little noise or distortion.

This video doorbell is my first so your milage may vary, but I love this thing.

I live in an apartment without peepholes. It's a complex so there is no building; whoever is knocking at your door has immediate access to you and you wouldn't even know who it was.

Considering the immediate city of the suburbs I live in is seeing an increase in crime, I wanted something that would allow me to see who was knocking at my door without risking opening the door and letting an unsavory entity into my apartment.

The eufy Video Doorbell has an incredibly wide range of view, as you can see in the photos. I can't really see beneath the camera, which is why I am glad that the doorbell can capture someone walking up to my door a few seconds before they ring the bell. If someone thinks ducking is going to prevent me from seeing them, they are mistaken. This is why I appreciate eufy's wide range of view.

The one thing that sets this video doorbell apart aside from the resolution is the lack of monthly fees. You can record everything on the accompanying base station, and on that base station, you have the option of adding a thumb drive. This is cool and all but if you have a NAS, like I do, you can setup a live stream or live recording directly to your NAS which is fantastic.

I have an Echo Show 8 in my home office, where I spend most of my time and I can view a live feed on it with the eufy Security skill which is a nice feature.

Since everyone is so close to me, I decided to turn off motion detection and motion notifications. If I had left that on, my phone would ding every 30 seconds. Just too much activity in the small throughway in this complex.

This is a great video doorbell camera for apartment dwellers as it is battery powered and really doesn't need much in the way of mounting and wiring.

I recommend this camera for apartment dwellers who want to smarten up their apartments and having peace of mind seeing who is at the door.

* The night vision is a non-factor for me. We have night lights in the throughway and it never gets dark which is how it should be. I can't give you a definitive review of this feature as it does not apply to my use case.

Maybe the wired version is better

Update 6/29/2021

Last week, I received a motion notification and when I clicked on it, it took me to live view, which have set it to do. I saw someone at the far end of my driveway get in a car. I went outside to investigate and there was no one. I revied the recorded notification and saw that a package had been stolen. It seems I missed the delivery notification - I was away from my phone - and USPS left the package in plain view. The Euphy did not trigger a notification until the thief was ~10 ft from the package. I literally reacted immediately and missed the thieves drive off by about 10 seconds. You can even see me at the and of the video going out to inspect.

Since then, I have increased the motion detection area. I'm not unhappy with Euphy, but I am disappointed.

Update: 2/4/2021

After initially writing the review below, Eufy reached out to me and offered me a free Wired version of this doorbell, the Wired 2K. I did not have a wired doorbell, but took the offer and had an electrician install a 30AV transformer and chimebox (knowing the wired doorbell would not work with the box but having it installed for posterity). The cost was $200. After having the Wired doorbell for a few days, here are my thoughts:

Doorbell presses send instant notifications and app opens to live view very quickly. Minimal delay when speaking. This is great. The wireless chime also works well.

Motion detection notifications are delayed by 5-20 seconds. Meaning if I get a notification of someone on my porch, by the time I open the app, they are gone. The good thing is that the 3s buffer means when I review the event history, I can usually see the person approaching (as opposed to the wireless doorbell where all of the activity was missed). Still, that kind of delay in notifications is disappointing. Delay is reduced at night, likely due to the color contrasts.

Speaking of color, people approaching the camera in broad daylight are hard to see, as their faces are darkened. This is true whether HDR is on or off. My doorbell is located on my porch, which has a 6-ft overhand, meaning the person approaching is likely to be backlit but not super frontlit. I feel like this should not be a problem though because enough sunlight hits my porch. I am hoping there will be a software/firmware update to improve this.

Install was easy with the exception of me having to order a custom bracket to fit on my dutchlap vinyl (cost $35 via Etsy).

I would upgrade my review to 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 because of good customer service/

[Old Review:]

I really wanted to like this, but it just isn't going to work out. I'll start with the pros. Eufy Doorbell 2K (battery) has great video and a great app with excellent features. Video was clear and covered a large area. Using activity zones and the highest level of sensitivity, I did not get over-notified of cars, etc. and I like on a busy street.

That being said, I got under-notified. It detected all motion, but often they would be at my front door or leaving by the time it sent a notification and certainly by the time I opened live view. There was a 5 +/- second delay on video and longer on audio. Note that my doorbell was 5-feet from Homebase 2 and 10 feet from the router. This was the dealbreaker for me. Seems useless if I can't get to the video when someone is approaching and/or at the door. I have heard the wired version does not have this problem; however, I do not have doorbell wiring. If I eventually get doorbell wiring, I will certainly give Eufy a try again.

In addition, it does not come with a vinyl siding mount, meaning you will need to purchase one from Etsy.

Great experience with the product and the support team!

------ Update on Dec 16, 2020

The customer support connected me promptly and shipped a replacement quickly. There is no complaint about such wonderful and kind people! The new replacement doorbell camera is the exactly same as previous defective one and I really hope Eufy can fix this issue soon. Thanks!

-----------------------

The camera works very solidly, no complain about that. But the big design flaw is the click button to remove. There is a tiny hole under the holder. Only after 2 removals, the push bar on the camera is almost destroyed (see the attached picture w/ red-colored circle showing the destroyed push bar). So it's matter of another 1 or 2 removals to completely destroy the push bar resulting in non-removal of the camera.

Not sure whether this could lead to the attention from the buyers, seller or manufacture.

Must download app before installing!

This product does not work. The button is broken on my device. A professional electrician installed it and came back to see what was wrong.

*** I originally gave this item 1 star because of lack of customer support. I re-rated at 3 stars because I figured out how to install it. What no one knew (including my electrician) is that you HAVE to install the app to set up the doorbell to be wired directly to the house. Once I did this, the inside chime worked. The app isn't user friendly (I wouldn't have chosen scissors as an icon to take a picture of the screen). There's a lot of unnecessary options and it's like an advertisement for the rest of their products. The picture is very clear and sound is good. You can only access the doorbell on one device at a time. Since mine is wired to the doorbell, I can't see right in front of the doors and there's no tilting or moving the camera. Overall we're satisfied for now. I wanted a video doorbell to document visitors without having to pay a monthly fee. I am concerned about it's longevity because my front door gets a lot of direct sunlight.

Really great video doorbell with chime!

This video doorbell is awesome. It was very easy to setup out of the box. I like that it comes with a doorbell chime built in to the hub station. Accessing the camera is easy through the app. I get an alert wether someone presses the bell or if the AI built in detects a face. Two way audio makes it easy to talk to someone.

One thing I didn’t know before I bought was that if my front door was less than 10ft from the property line, I would need to place the system on a side wall or I would get a lot of false hits by cars driving by. I measured well over 10ft so was able to install it on the main door frame.

It took about 10 minutes to install. I used the 15degree bracket to get more of my driveway and am happy this was included.

eufy system IS NOT independant; if servers are down so are you!

*UPDATE* Whether you subscribe to the cloud service or not, if eufy servers are down YOU WILL NOT GET VIDEO PLAYBACK. Servers went down June 12, 2020 (late evening, when I noticed, for several hours). Event notifications were still sent to my phone, but "tap to view" = no video. Previously stored videos = not available. The eufy app noted "your phone is not connected to the internet" = not true, and terrible diagnosis, as if it was my fault (my cell signal is set up to kick in). I spent an hour reseting/updating/restarting, and even waited for chat tech support. Called eufy, and got "servers are down... up in a few hours." Called again, 'cause I swore servers weren't the cause of my downtime; message said "we're closed...email and we'll respond in 24 hrs." The eufy app fell victim to the ourtage, and I went to the online community forum- OH BOY, bad times for eufy. The system did get back online, but the damage is done. I only had the system for 12 days and this happens. Plus, I was led to believe eufy HomeBase2 was independant from server/cloud/subscription. A down server should not render my system useless. AND THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO REDUCE THE PRICE TO TODAY (purchased for $200, on sale now for $169)!!! Setup was a breeze, the video quality is better than good, battery is on the way to last about 45 days (not 180 days), motion detection is ok, tech support = [*from 0 to 3 out of 5, they worked with me to test/assess and ultimately send me a replacement unit under warranty*]. The eufy team could've at least tweeted, posted on the forum in a huge banner, or broadcast in someway to keep customers informed! How about an email, you know the one I gave you when I set up the account!?! I will be returning, and am searching for an independent system that does not rely on servers.

Installed for almost two months - working great

This doorbell has exceeded expectations. Very high quality. Easy install and setup. Wifi is working well even though the home base is installed in an area of the house with weak wifi coverage and old plaster-lathe walls. Battery is down to 53% after almost 2-months and 1138 detected events in variable Chicago Spring weather conditions. (I have 'optimal surveillance' mode enabled which also tends to shorten battery life.) Human detection is very accurate with maybe 1 false alarm that I can remember. When it does detect a human on the porch, it notifies the apps on our phones (whether we are home or away) within seconds with a picture of the person's face. The iPhone app works great and is super responsive. The home base stores the videos for later reference and has an indoor chime. Camera quality is great. There was an issue with the 2-way audio that was fixed in the latest firmware release, so their support does appear to be motivated to dethrone their competitors. In the attached picture, we have it mounted using the angle-wedge next to our front door so it can view people coming up the stairs to the screen door immediately to the right (not visible) in the photo. My wife added the "doorbell" lettering so people know what it is.

You get what you pay..

Update: after the exchange, I am extremely satisfied with my eufy door bell. What a huge difference it made. No more red screen. And is as clear as my other cameras. Thank you, for the hassle free.

Red screen is before the exchange.

I really love this door bell I would’ve give it a 5 star if they would’ve help me fix my problem. Had me uninstalled and installed the doorbell so many times and still didn’t fix the problem. The doorbell works well, motion sensors do too. The only problem I had was having a red view during the day outside. The view is blurry and not clear as the eufy cameras.

High quality of video & fast alerting

Been using this doorbell for a week, SO FAR SO GOOD!

Pros:

- Installation is pretty easy(except one thing I'll mention in Cons), I have it mounted on the door frame, there is nothing much labor than just drill 2 screwers.

- Low latency live cam with 2k resolution, I felt only under 1s delay view app live, that is pretty impressive with this high resolution.

- Fast recognition and alerting, whenever a movement is captured, phone app alert is trigger right away, almost no delay. Been able to alert me before deliver folks even press the doorbell button.

Cons:

- App setup instruction is missing one step or one page. If you are totally following the manual for setting up the homebase(the big guy that connects to your router), you won't be seeing the step of adding the doorbell to your homebase in the app, trust me, it took me 5 minutes to find out why the doorbell is not connected.

Must be attached with screws not tape...great customer service!

This was my third purchase of a doorbell this week and I am hopeful this is THE ONE. So far so good! I watched all of the videos and read every review online before purchasing and installing. I went thru the manual page by page to make sure I got everything right....it went smoothly! My first issue was not having an extra ethernet port, so I unplugged my cell's booster and used that one for the set up. On the first try, the home base had trouble connecting to my internet and got "stuck" in downloading an update. So I backed up and started all over again and everything went fine, the software was updated. The wood trim by our door is a little angled so I didn't need the extra angle adaptor (I had been hoping to attach to glass bricks but it is too heavy for tape). The screw heads were too small to work with our screwdriver, they stripped out easily, so my husband used our own screws. I was happy to be able to unplug the home base from the ethernet and use it with Wifi; I moved it closer to front door and adjusted the doorbell ring so it wasn't so loud. The image is crisp, clear and wide angle. There are still a couple of things I don't understand, like what is "quick response"---the manual doesn't explain that. I am assuming it is pre-recorded messages? Also I am not sure if someone speaks to the doorbell if I can only hear them thru my phone or if the sound will also come thru the Home Base, would be nice if I didn't have to go hunt for my phone every time. All in all, the installation, set up and first day went well. Now we need to test it some more to learn about all the various settings! One more thing, the packaging was great, everything was very professional, so much better than the cheaper ones I had tried earlier in the week. I am trusting that Eufy will keep us updated with any improvements! For folks like me with no wired doorbell, this device is a blessing. Hope it stays that way! Will update this review when I have more info. And yes, I did stick their security warning label by the door! (see photo)

UPDATED REVIEW: March 2020

Updated Review: Eufy support contacted me to address the concerns I expressed in my review and sent in to their support email. I reinstalled the doorbell cam, after doing a firmware update. I re-positioned the camera but because of my doorway recess, the infrared-lights cause a bad glare when using at night off the adjacent walls. This is noted as possible to occur in the installation manual, so I have them disabled at night and footage is still visible.

I have increased my rating to 3-star from 2, as having the Eufy Battery Doorbell Camera in place over the past 2 weeks has proven useful for my family despite still having some small minor issues listed below. There is no option for a 3.5 star review which is what I feel is an accurate grade.

The camera works well and is very helpful seeing getting push notifications when family members arrive home or a package is delivered. While the doorbell detects motion accurately within the predefined zone & human shapes (as indicated by it lighting up when being approached) I am getting delayed notification on my phone once I have already entered my house. Tested on both WIFI and LTE connection. The delay is approximately 8-10 seconds after the doorbell indicates it is detecting motion.

Footage still is capped at 15 fps and even after the firmware update. This is not a deal breaker but results in missing frames when someone is moving fast. Example, a package delivery took place at my home and the camera showed the top of the carriers hat as he bent down to place the box, (dropped frame) then his back as he walked away.

Although casting to Chromecast/ Google Nest is in Beta, it is unusable. Footage streams from the Eufy Battery Doorbell Camera is more than 30 seconds delayed from what the live view is and what you are seeing on the Chromecast/Nest Hub.

----

Original Review: Unfortunately, the Eufy wireless doorbell takes one step forward, two steps back. The video quality is just acceptable, I am not sure what the exact frame rate is, but looks to be 15fps, even in bright daylight, the footage is pixelated. This model does not have the 3-second pre-record feature because it is battery powered and does not do constant recording. Even though the doorbell has the option of being wired, for some odd reason, you cannot have the constant recording that would have allowed the 3 second recording. This is a step back from the wired doorbell which does have this setting.

The two way audio is a mess at the moment with serious delays communication. And the recorded footage loses audio if you are having two-way chat. Some of the issues or more than just small complaints, they are advertised features that are not functioning as expected. I really wanted to like this, especially with the homebase 2 included and no subscription, but unfortunately, I dont want to buy a product now, especially a security product and cross my fingers that a future firmware update may fix the issues.
