New England Yankee
Accurate, Responsive, and Covers the Basics
This is a very straightforward product. All functions are via simple long or short button presses. No menus. No hidden functions. Simple self-calibration (single button push with the cap on). And accurate. Understand that this is a general purpose meter. With .1 resolution, it is not meant for either high precision needs or very low light measurement. The sensor dome is fixed on the meter body. It does not record or have any kind of connectivity (e.g., Bluetooth). The case isn’t sealed. But it has the key functions a general purpose meter needs: Lux or Foot Candles, Min-Max-Average functionality, and Hold. An auto-off that can be disabled (good for min-max-ave measurements). It’s small, very lightweight, and comes with a decent cordura case.
Some additional nice touches for a relatively inexpensive light meter include the tethered cap, a tripod socket on the back, and a double-secured battery door which requires a button push to release in addition to the usual slide and click door.
I knocked off a star because the build quality could be a bit better. Again, non-sealed. No bumpers, rubber armor or anything of that sort. Buttons are actual, physical buttons. That might be viewed as a plus, but they feel quite loosely attached.
Nonetheless, the LT505 is a good, accurate, general-purpose meter whose functionality covers what most need, most of the time.
The pictures shows what you get. Meter. Case. Instructions. Batteries (not shown). No blister pack. No styrofoam. No gigantic box. No sales literature. How nice is that!
Recommended for the purposes mentioned - and should be on your short list if those describe your needs.
