As a piano teacher with 30 years experience, I love everything from the Faber Piano Adventures library! This series is great for adult beginners (or teens). It can be used to study under a teacher, or if you don't have access, can be used for study on your own. There is so much great instruction in the book and each piece has an accompanying video to assist with practice. There are also supplemental books to provide fun extra music that is on the exact same level so you don't run into anything you haven't learned yet. Highly recommended!

Not for beginners. A teacher is required to read the book with you.
This book is awful. It’s hard to understand. It’s got parts you’re expected to have a teacher play along with you for duets. There’s hardly explanation on the lessons or why you’re doing them. There’s QR codes to go watch short videos which are not helpful.
It just straight into really advanced stuff and you’re expected to have a teacher playing duet with you? Why do so many people recommend this?

Good Piano Book
Kids are learning the piano, and I’m learning along with them. The teacher asked me to buy an adult book that covers everything from the basics to more advanced levels. I’m starting from the beginning, and it’s a really good book🎹

Book cover damaged
This methods manual was purchased in good faith as brand new. The front cover was bent and creased. I did not pay for a damaged book but I don’t have the time to return it and wait for another. Bad business practice here.

Nothing but praise - late adult learner after 2nd Adventure book
I don’t know how to write a good review, so I will just state what happened to me with this book.
I bought this book in the spring bound form( listed $17.99), with tax and shipping for $19.38 more than two years ago. I started with a private teacher almost immediately.
Previously I never learned anything musical, except for general music classes up to high school -- more than 30 years ago.
It took me a weekly private lessons of 8 months, to finish this book. Currently I am in the 15th month on the 2nd Adventure book(finally done with the last song, Pachelbel Canon, only this week) with the same private teacher — just so you’d know how musically (un)talented I am:)
Compared to the 2nd book, which turned out to be quite challenging, this was just so much fun, inviting, and fast!
I strongly believe this 1st Adventure book helped me build the very basics to move forward in my piano journey. Now I am looking forward to the next book, 3b, yes also with the same teacher.

Extremely Well Thought Out In a Big Way
I've used books from Alfred's collection in the past and found them fairly good for learning with or without a teacher.
If you look at the second image I shared with parts of Amazing Grace on it, you get a good idea of what they're trying to do and to me it is brilliant that they're teaching these aspects so early in the pianist's learning process. These will build good habits as a result.
If you notice they have both L.H. and R.H. next to the numbers in the book. You will also notice that the numbers are up and down around the words, and this is laying out the groundwork for paying attention to the way the music is flowing up and down the staff. Not only is it doing that, but by showing you the finger numbers you get an early subconscious introduction to how Intervals work. Of course, the very fact that they have you playing with both hands from the start is also very good for building that foundation.
I'm currently at Page 60 and I do not see any real issues learning this on your own, but if you have questions there are plenty of forums, Facebook groups, reddit groups, or other ways to find your answers.
Honestly, the little details that I had to learn the hard way, make all the difference in this book and they really set it apart as one of the better beginners' books for learning.
I know some people are upset about the pieces that are included, but honestly, I find they're appropriate for beginners and if you're struggling with those, you can pick up the supplemental book (Adult Piano Adventures Popular Book 1) for more modern pieces, or the classical supplement. Either way, the book is appropriate and if you find you're beyond those pieces, then maybe you should start with a different book in the series.
Overall, I'm fairly impressed with the books flow and information... I would recommend this to anyone just starting out as an adult beginner.

Awesome
This book really takes you step by step and it is very important to know the theory and also is impractical ice you fingers on the keys. If you are intelligent then this book is for you. If you don’t have a teacher please check on the you tube videos for clarifications. I really like this book.

Easy to read and learn piano with!
I love this book! I’ve been using it now for a while and it’s really easy to learn piano with and it’s super helpful! I love that it has on every page diagrams that are easy to follow along with. I had tried learning piano a few years ago and it didn’t work, I tried this book out and it’s amazing!

This book is amazing , I highly recommend it for everyone who wants to play the piano. The songs are great and the book is really easy to follow. I'm 17 and learned how to play the piano using this book and others from this collection ! It's worth it! The video is from me playing a few months after I got the book , the book teaches you enough theory so that you can read whaterver song you'd like to play.
