Nothing like the lightning a TV would give emit.
I’m not sure if this one is defective, but it does not resemble TV lightning at all. A strobe flash every 5 seconds is not fooling anyone.

The FakeTV Burglar Deterrent is an inexpensive little addition to your home security equipment. This palm sized device sits atop a desk or table and, from the street, gives the illusion of someone being at home, watching TV. No complicated set-up or subscription plan. Pretty much just plug-and-play.

Wow! Fool the fooler! Something you must have even if you don’t think you need it.
There has been petty car thief in the neighborhood. Cars that are left opened and kids stealing whatever is inside the car. I live in a very safe neighborhood and area as well. This looks like someone is home. I feel not only helps me but my adjacent neighbors as well safe as well. This is also nice for piece of mind if you live alone to extra security. Bought one for my elderly mother too. Not thought I would rate this as a must have, even if you go out to dinner or nosey neighbors. Haha Set up couldn’t be easier. Watch the video...

Picture shown of the product is deceiving
This is a 2 3/4" x 3" product. Not sure how effective it can emulate a large screen tv. The alternating lights are, however, very realistic.

There's a good chance you won't get the more expensive FTV-11
Well - I kinda needed it in a hurry - and since it was so highly reviewed, I thought I would ignore one commenter's warning that you may get the 10, instead of the 11. I wanted the FTV-11 because it appears to be more bright and powerful. Instead - even though the box had a sticker indicating it was and 11, over the old 10 label, ... I got a 10. See the pic. It's going back.

My unit artived broken. It was an FTV-10 with and FTV-11 sticker on the box. It didn't work.

FakeTV, Real Results!
After a rash of vehicle break-ins in our community, I've been hunting for low-cost, common sense security measures to keep our cars safer at night. In my search, I happened across this FakeTV from Hydreon and snapped one up straight away. The light ships in a small box, complete with multi-lingual instructions (English pictured) and a five foot power cord.
Setup is a breeze; you simply connect the light to the two pronged power cable, plug it in, and select your setting (Always On; Dusk + 7 Hrs; Dusk + 4; Off). I keep ours on the +7 setting in a room upstairs facing the street. Note that it doesn't have to be too dark in the room for the light sensor to respond, so be warned that the FakeTV may click on a bit earlier in the evening than you might think (meaning that it may shut off earlier than you might think as well).
Looking up at our windows where the product is placed, you'd never know that the light being emitted from the room was from anything but a big, vivid television screen. The 12 LEDs are super bright, and the flickering patterns they produce are extremely authentic. Power consumption for this item is advertised as being really low, and it doesn't get hot over time—which is paramount as you'll most likely use the FakeTV when you're either asleep in another room or away from home altogether! All told, I'm really pleased with this purchase, and while there's no guarantee that this will keep our cars completely safe... I'd like to believe that it's an easy, affordable discouragement to all but the boldest of criminals.
