Great Budget Microphone for Streaming and Content Creation

The FIFINE K688S is a solid option for anyone looking to improve their audio without spending a fortune. I like that it offers both USB and XLR connectivity, making it flexible enough for beginners who want a simple plug-and-play setup and creators who want to use an audio interface or mixer.

The dynamic microphone design is useful for streaming, podcasting, and recording voiceovers, especially when you want to focus on your voice rather than picking up every sound in the room. The onboard controls are also convenient, and the overall design looks clean and professional.

For the price, the combination of versatility and creator-friendly features makes this microphone worth considering. It's a good option for people building a streaming or recording setup on a budget.

Clear sound and great build quality

I’ve been really impressed with the FIFINE K688W. The voice quality is clear and crisp, and it sounds great for gaming, Discord, streaming, and recording. I also really like the flexibility of having both USB and XLR connectivity, depending on how you want to use it.

The microphone feels solid and well-built, and the controls are easy to use. The touch-mute button is especially convenient since it only requires a light touch to mute the mic. Overall, it’s been a great addition to my setup and I’m very happy with the sound quality and versatility.

Honestly impressed with this microphone

For what it is, this microphone is pretty impressive.

It comes with a stand that's about 9.5" tall. The microphone itself is about 7" long. There's about .75" between the cage and the capsule, so when the windscreen is on, there's about 1" from the capsule to the tip of the microphone. The shock mount is pre-assembled and screwed into place. It does look like the rubber bands on the shock mount can be removed easily, if they need to be replaced. It also has a mute button on the top, but it's not tactile, so it's easy to accidentally hit the mute when you're adjusting the microphone position.

The bottom of the microphone has a USB-C port, XLR, headphone jack, as well as volume knobs for the microphone (input) and headphone (output).

I have ordered multiple AM8s for myself and friends. This one seems to handle input better. It also feels heftier than the AM8.

I tested this on zoom calls and in discord and, while no one could tell the difference between this and the AM8, where I really noticed the difference was in singing. Granted, these mics aren't really made for singing...but that didn't stop me from testing it out. This mic isn't really meant for singing, but I was impressed with how well it handled vocals. It did clip some, but overall, it handled it better than I expected.

The video test contains both speaking and singing tests. Both of the video sections are recorded with OBS with zero post-processing. The speaking test was done without any filters in OBS. The singing test was done with a reverb filter, but no compression or EQ filters were added.

Great sound quality

Great mic for streaming!

I’ve been using the FIFINE K688 for my gaming and streaming setup, and I’m really impressed with it. My voice sounds clear and crisp, and I love how easy it is to use with USB.

The mute button, volume control, headphone monitoring, and USB/XLR connectivity are all really convenient. It also feels sturdy and well-built, and the shock mount helps reduce desk vibrations and noise.

I love that it works great for streaming, gaming, Discord, voiceovers, and content creation. It’s been a really nice upgrade to my setup!

Studio-Quality Sound Without the Complicated Setup

The FIFINE K688S XLR/USB Podcast Dynamic Boom Microphone has been an excellent upgrade to my setup. The sound quality is clear, crisp, and professional, making it great for podcasting, gaming, streaming, meetings, or recording voiceovers.

I really like having both USB and XLR connection options because it gives me the flexibility to keep things simple or expand my setup later with additional audio equipment. The boom arm makes positioning the microphone easy, and the overall build feels sturdy and well made.

Setup was straightforward, and I was impressed with how good my voice sounded right away without having to spend a lot of time adjusting settings. For the quality, versatility, and ease of use, this microphone setup is definitely worth five stars.

Spectacular Microphone — Exactly What We Needed!

This microphone is truly spectacular. We were looking for something with really clear sound for doing auctions on Whatnot, and this absolutely delivered.

The audio was so clear and everyone could understand us really well during our auctions. That was the biggest thing we were looking for, and it made such a noticeable difference.

I also really like that it comes with the desktop stand and has convenient controls like the tap-to-mute and gain knob. It feels like a much more serious setup than I was expecting.

We absolutely killed it on our Whatnot auctions with this thing. 😂 I definitely vouch for it if you’re looking for a quality microphone for streaming, content creation, meetings, or live selling.

An AMAZING product, its cheap but its high quality, ive recently paired it up with the fifine audio mixer as well and its amazing. Nothing bad to say about this mic whatsoever and I TOTALLY recomend you buy this if you want to have a good quality mic and still have money left over for something else

Dirty and Awful

The mic had all these black particles all over it. It looked so dirty I was shocked. It also sounds thin and tinny. An awful experience.

I can’t find any replacement rubber bands

Great microphone sounds amazing but the four rubber bands are the issue. It was all fine for about two days one of the rubber bands snapped, and I tried to replace it with the spare in the box, but it snapped while I tried putting it back on and due to the imbalance of their only being three another one snapped so now I’m down to two and I can’t find any replacements anywhere

Best budget mic of 2026

The sound quality of the mic even with no third party software sounds great, just plug in play using usb-c.

Sounds good

It’s a really good mic. Seems to filter out a lot of background noise. The only thing I wish the mute button was one you either felt click in or was on the front so I can know without straining if it’s muted or not. But not worth taking off a whole star

Good Microphone until my Computer killed it.

Don't get me wrong this microphone was great n all and had no problems with it until last night after my computer shut off and my GPU went into some safety mode where the fans went into overdrive forcing me to shut off my PC from the PSU (Now this isn't the first time it happened btw)

But when I opened up discord my Microphone wasn't being registered at allnwith Windows. I could see in my Fifine Ampligame mixer the audio from the microphone was being detected but windows wasn't registering it in any applications. So I'm just going to assume that my GPU or something killed my Microphone. I don't understand how that's even possible...

Bang for your buck

I really love this microphone. I’ve had it for many months now and it hasn’t given me any issues. The raw sound straight out of the mic is solid.

1St Mic I Ever Owned

The K688 Was my first Microphone, as soon as I seen it, I had to have it. I've had it a little over a year or so and its got good quality sound. I like how clear and pronounced my voice is when recording on it, The Amplification is spot on and you can adjust the gain as well as your headphones which is super convenient so you can hear that the sound is just perfect. Really solid choice for anyone on a budget and who cant afford the big Sure SM7B's of the world. Fifine has got you and it has real good premium equipment of all kinds.

Fifine k688 kit

The microphone works great, it really sounds like a professional microphone. In the other side, the boom arm is cheap quality and it’s uncomfortable to manage. If you’re thinking about getting this mic, I really recommend you to get a boom arm separately.

On The Line w/FIFINE K688 Podcast Microphone (plus kit)

I am not a professional in electrical or tech engineer, nor any other related profession, therefore this is not any personal advice, this is only from my own time related experience with the product. That being said do not depend on my information in regard to professional advice, rather if need be inquire from a professional before making your choice.

Read instructions, read limitations, read any warranty information if provided. If it is necessary to have and you’re satisfied with everything give it a try. I highly recommend this company specifically in regard to this item.

I haven’t used it much, but I haven’t had any audio issues specifically with the microphone and cables themselves. On the other hand it is noteworthy to check your device’s output/input capacity or ratings, and audio settings to adjust or set the default of your sound, etcetera.

Also note that the stand uses springs, and knobs to ergonomically adjust the positioning, therefore be careful to not use too much pressure and take care to very very lightly WD-40 the springs and knobs every often as needed.

Great mic for streaming and gaming!

Really impressed with this mic! Setup was super easy, and the sound is crisp and clear. The detachable windscreen and shock mount cut down on background noise, and I love having both USB-C and XLR options. Perfect for streaming or gaming without breaking the bank.

Excellent with the mic arm!

Works great with the mic arm super lightweight and fits perfect on the desk! Mic doesn’t have an option to mute only the monitoring feedback so I don’t use the output but very good sound quality!

This microphone features a sleek design and offers good value for the price.

The FIFINE K688 Dynamic Microphone has exceeded all my expectations. The sound quality is crisp, warm, and professional—perfect for my video calls, and recordings. It does an excellent job of isolating my voice while minimizing background noise, which is a huge plus in my busy environment.

I’ve paired it with the FIFINE Low Profile Boom Arm, and the combination is fantastic. The boom arm is sturdy, smooth to adjust, and keeps my workspace clean and clutter-free. It holds the mic securely and looks great on camera too.

Setup was quick and easy, and I love the dual USB-C connectivity for flexibility. FIFINE really nailed the design and functionality with this mic and boom arm combo. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their audio setup without breaking the bank!

Amazing microphone

I've been using the Fifine A6T for years and loved it, but I decided it was time for an upgrade, so I went with the K688. The K688 sounds super clear, blocks out background noise really well, and was incredibly easy to set up. Definitely worth the upgrade and I’m really happy with my purchase.

FIFINE K688 Dynamic Microphone – Great Versatility at a Budget-Friendly Price

I'm genuinely impressed with the FIFINE K688. It's a dynamic mic that supports both USB-C and XLR, making it ideal for beginners and experienced users alike. The sound quality is solid, especially in noisy environments, and setup is easy whether you're using a PC or audio interface. I recorded my entire review using the K688 via XLR.

The kit (K688CT) includes the mic, metal boom arm, shock mount, adapter, and USB cables—though an XLR cable isn’t included. Build quality is decent; the mic feels durable, though the boom arm is on the lighter side. You won’t find premium-grade accessories here, but for around $70, it's a fantastic starter option.

Tip: USB controls only work when not in XLR mode, and proper mic placement (2–6 inches) is key for clarity. You don’t need phantom power, and make sure to adjust your gain just right to avoid clipping.

Perfect for streamers, podcasters, or anyone who wants a plug-and-play mic with room to upgrade later. Highly recommend if you're looking for quality without the hefty price tag.

Good quality

It’s easy to set up and the stand it came with is super sturdy. It moves well if I need to move it close or out of the way. The sound quality is excellent. I don’t need a pop screen for it which is nice.

Surprisingly good voice audio results and comes with a boom arm

Item: Finfine K688CT Dynamic Mic and Boom Arm set

Price: $68.39 after vendor’s 5% discount

Every now and then I’m impressed with microphones that have low price points. I expect mediocre performance. However, with the Finfine K688CT, I was pleasantly surprised. The mic provided very nice audio for voice work. And while the boom is definitely of a budget design, similar to my utility desk lamps from the 1970s, it is well matched with this microphone. I was able to make all the adjustments needed to put the top of the mic about 6-inches and closer to my mouth for what ended up being a very decent audio in my test recordings.

It only took a few minutes to set up the mic and boom arm. I did find that for both the mic gain and the headphone audio level, the maximum dial positions on the mic worked best for my system. I recorded the mic audio into my video software while I simultaneously recorded the video on my studio Sony A6400. I synchronized the separate audio files to the video within the software. I’ll add that I used the USB-C output only, as I don’t have an XLR audio control panel. So for my dual output mics (USB-C and XLR) I record the audio directly into my video recording software. I would guess that using the XLR output would provide a ‘step up’ in audio quality. But I was suitably impressed with the USB-C signal.

The boom arm’s C-clamp for desk attachment is, like many other boom arms, a bit depth-shallow. If you have a flat-edged desktop, you’ll be OK. But if you, like me, have a desk with a routered edge, you’ll probably not have enough depth in the C-clamp to make for a firm hold. The depth of the boom arm’s clamp is about 1-1/2” deep. My desk’s routered edge is 1-inch, which only gives the clamp a ½” of flat with which to secure itself to the desk. That’s not enough. For one high end boom arm I decided to drill into my desktop, which I find is a bit more secure than clamping. You’ll also find that this specific boom arm design doesn’t accommodate your cabling from the mic to your recording devices and to your headphone set. While testing the set I simply wrapped the USB-C cable around and through the boom to keep it close. But if I were to use this on a regular basis, I’d use black velcro strips to get it ‘out of the way and close to the hardware.’

My overall opinion is that this microphone reproduces voice audio quite well. And the pairing of the mic and the boom arm makes for a very competent and affordable set. As mentioned earlier, if this is your first mic and boom arm set, you may find the quality better than expected and may not have reason to upgrade.

Fifine mic and LP mic arm

Received used item…

I received used items… Upon arrival, the box was clearly opened and damaged as shown from the taped damaged. Once I opened the box for the microphone, there was a missing foam piece that sits on top of mic for secure packing, but that was not in the box. The manual for the item was not included. The USB cord was unraveled. There was lots of dust and hair on the microphone. I did order this mic in a bundle pack with the Fifine Low Profile Mic Arm (white), and it saved me about $7, and the mic arm had a chipped paint on one of the pieces. The products work as intended and work great! The microphone is a lot nicer than the mic I was using from my Astro A40 headset. I would give a 5 star review, but I received clearly received used items and paid for the price of brand new condition items. I didn’t want to get it replaced for time sake, but the items work as intended, so I decided to keep it. I would be happy if I could get a partial refund :)

Fantastic, low cost podcast mic with LOADS of features

The first impressions of the mic exceeded all expectations. The build quality is solid and it feels way more expensive than what it costs. The included shock mount came pre-installed and the usb cable was very premium feeling and long enough for my needs. I found that even with fans and AC going there wasn't a ton of noise, but the included video has a slight noise gate to account for some breath sounds. I noticed that even though this came with a filter installed, there were still some plosives, but so long as you keep the mic at a slight angle (I have mine at about 30 degrees to the right of center so it can capture the sound of my voice, but not be in the direct line of fire, so to speak... that way when I do have to annunciate plosive heavy words like 'pressure' or 'preposterous' it's not absolutely demolishing the eardrums. I have a pop filter that I may try out, but for now this works really well and I'm extremely satisfied with the sound. As a note, the added clip doesn't have any eq or compression, just the noise gate, so what you're hearing is a fair comparison to an untreated bedroom with fans on.
