Extremely powerful and perfect for multi-input setups
𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿: This little unit is extremely powerful. The 4.4mm balanced output puts out a ton of power, and with three gain levels it handles everything from sensitive IEMs to demanding over-ear headphones without breaking a sweat.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: This is where the ZH3 really shines. It has USB, optical, coaxial, and RCA inputs, so if you have a multi-input setup, it's incredibly useful. Switching between sources is quick and easy, so one box can serve your PC, TV, console, and more.
𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: It's a DAC, headphone amp, and preamp all in one. On top of the 4.4mm and 6.35mm headphone outputs, it has RCA and XLR outputs for speakers or an amplifier, so it can be the center of a whole desktop setup.
𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹: If you have multiple sources and want one powerful, flexible hub to tie them all together, the ZH3 is a fantastic choice. It's packed with features for the price and does it all really well.

Great for PS5 and Sennheiser Headphone Connection
Possibly thee BEST purchase I've ever made!
I bought a pair of open-back Sennheiser headphones and wanted to use the 6mm connection with my PS5, instead of the 4mm or 3mm connections, so I bought this bad boy. I honestly wasn't sure about this product because I didn't know if it would be compatibly with my PS5 console too. But the setup was so simple and my PS5 actually recognizes it as an audio device as soon as I turn it on, unlike my other USB connections where I have to manually go to the settings and specify everything. And it looks very clean and sleek, it even fits under my mic arm.
On top of that, I can actually modify the audio and control the Bass and Treble! So far the audio quality on my games has been at it's absolute Peak! I Love this little magic audio box!
(Gonna take some pointers from the pictures in other people's reviews of this product, to see if there's anything else I can upgrade in my own setup.)

Note to self: RTFM
This DAC replaced a Fosi ZD3, which was paired with the same ZA3 amp in a desktop PC system. I just needed a headphone jack and the ZD3 does not have any. So, I ordered the ZH3 with little to no research, assuming it was the same DAC with added HP outputs.
I was obviously quite wrong, and what I immediately noticed was that this is the superior DAC (compared to the ZD3) for sound quality in this budget, near-field, desktop system (JriverMC>ZH3>ZA3>Fluance SX6's). A marked difference in overall smoothness and not as bright/brittle. It was after that initial impression that I then discovered the Bass/Treble adjustments and FILTERS- a DAC first for me. Kinda blown away by it, really.
For headphones, same thing. Found the "gain" adjustment after already liking the sound. Tested ATH-M50x and JT7. Both sound great. Very pleased.

Impressive Performance With One Major Drawback
I picked this up during Prime Day for around $80 after applying a coupon. I already own an SSL 2 MkII, which, thanks to Julian Krause’s measurements and reviews, is known for having an excellent headphone amplifier. Still, after reading so many glowing reviews of this unit, I was curious to hear whether it would offer a different presentation—perhaps a little more punch, dynamics, or headroom.
After spending some time with it, I can say it does sound very good. If anything, it may have a slight edge over the SSL 2, but the difference is surprisingly subtle. The SSL’s headphone output was already excellent, so I wasn’t expecting a night-and-day improvement. One feature I genuinely appreciated, however, was the addition of balanced XLR outputs.
My biggest disappointment is the heat. Within about 30 minutes, the chassis becomes uncomfortably hot to the touch, even sitting idle with no music playing and without driving demanding headphones. That doesn’t inspire much confidence. By comparison, I can push my SSL 2 for hours at high volumes and it barely gets warm—it simply does its job without breaking a sweat.
Perhaps I received a defective unit, or maybe this is simply how it’s designed. Either way, it’s something potential buyers should know. At the $80 I paid, I think it’s a solid value. At its regular price, though, I’m not convinced I’d purchase it again.

Es increíble por el costo. Independientemente sentí el cambio en mis auriculares. Es una pequeña bestia.

THE headphone amp to get if you aren't getting a tube amp
Forgive the dust in the picture, it's spring cleaning time. I've had amps of all kinds, varieties and price points. Unless you're out for a specific sound from a specific set of headphones for a specific purpose, this is THE headphone amp to get. It's well priced (if you can believe it) super easy to setup and just... Works!
I use it with my HiFiman HE400SE's and they're fantastic for driving it. If you can, please PLEASE get cables to use the balanced output. The 1/4" output is fine, but clearly inferior to its balanced counterpart. That said, if you're spending money on a dedicated headphone amp with a balanced output, you really should be doing that anyways.

Excellent Product and Excellent Service
I had a little issue with my unit and reached out to Fosi. They were super responsive. They helped me diagnoise my issue and provided a replacement. Follow up service was super, I got "Linda’s best service". I will add more FOSI products to my setup. I highly recommend these products and this company.

Amazing sound!
At the heart of my system is the Fosi Audio ZH3 DAC and Fosi Audio BT20A MAX power amplifier, forming the core of a clean, high-output 2.2-channel setup. The ZH3 handles digital conversion and preamp duties, while the BT20A MAX delivers strong, controlled amplification with excellent dynamic headroom.
The amplifier drives Quad 12L bookshelf speakers, supported by dual PreSonus Eris Sub 8BT 8-inch powered subwoofers for extended, well-integrated low-frequency performance.
Signal sources include an iPhone connected via USB-C, streaming TIDAL and a library of over 7,000 lossless CD-quality tracks on Apple Music, along with a Fire TV for movies and streaming content.
Connections are upgraded with Nakamichi Excel Series 24k gold-plated banana plugs, and both the amp and subs use heavy-duty power cords. The entire system is powered through a Black Lion Audio PG-P Portable Power Conditioner for clean, stable power delivery.
Acoustic treatment is handled by TroyStudio 12" x 12" x 4" broadband acoustic foam panels mounted directly behind the seating position at ear level to control rear-wall reflections and enhance imaging clarity.
For video, the setup includes a ViewSonic M2 1080p portable projector paired with a QualGear 100-inch fixed-frame 16:9 4K Ultra White projection screen (1.2 gain), creating an immersive large-format viewing experience.
The result is a streamlined, Fosi-centered system delivering strong stereo imaging, dynamic impact, and cinematic scale in a medium-sized room — a compact but dynamic 2.2-channel system focused on clarity, controlled low-end, and strong stereo imaging. I want to work at Fosi!!!!

Fosi Audio ZH3 Review: A Sonic Powerhouse in a Compact Frame
Fosi Audio ZH3 Review: A Sonic Powerhouse in a Compact Frame
I’m absolutely blown away by the performance of the Fosi Audio ZH3 headphone amplifier. The sound is nothing short of phenomenal—rich, full-bodied, and incredibly detailed. Whether you're diving into delicate acoustic tracks or pounding through bass-heavy beats, the ZH3 delivers a listening experience that feels immersive and alive.
One of the standout features is the XLR connections. I used them in my setup, and the clarity and depth they provide are simply amazing. They elevate the entire signal chain, ensuring pristine audio with zero noise and maximum impact.
What really sets the ZH3 apart is its versatility. The range of input and output options makes it a dream for anyone who loves to experiment with their audio setup. I paired mine with two Fosi Audio ZA3 amplifiers running in mono mode, and the synergy between them is stunning. The ZH3 acts as a perfect control center, unlocking the full potential of the ZA3s and pushing my headphones to new heights.
If you're looking for a compact amp that punches well above its weight, the ZH3 is a no-brainer. Fosi Audio nailed it with this one.

Exactly as advertised 👍🏻
Impressive performance from such a compact unit. While I wouldn’t call myself an audiophile, I appreciate the smooth, detailed, and distortion-free sound this little amp delivers. Streaming Apple Music up to 192 kHz works flawlessly. The balanced headphone output drives all of my headphones with ease, and through the RCA outputs into my classic Bose Wave Radio, the sound quality is surprisingly refined. Fosi Audio continues to impress—highly recommended.
