Great addition to my lighting!

If you do photoshoots, having an RGB light is a must-have! I picked up the Godox LC500R Mini RGB LED Light Stick as an accent light for my photo shoots and videos. This light comes in a really nice carrying case, the light itself has barn doors to help you direct the light - they're also removable. There's a battery grip that can be attached and removed. You have so many controls to change the brightness from 2500 ~ 8500K and the shade of each color with 360 variations with 15 different lighting effects. There's also an app you can download to have remote control over the entirety of your light stick.

Overall, this is another home run from Godox! If you do any model shooting or studio video work this is a must-have light stick.

Excellent light weight LED light stick!

Godox has another winner here with this light. Overall, I'd call this an excellent, lightweight and portable light stick. Let me break it down with pros and cons.

Pros:

1. Light weight and easy to move around with on the go.

2. Really good battery life. I never have had it not last through a shoot and it is quick to recharge.

3. Dead simple to control and adjust the lighting.

4. Barndoors for light shaping and control are integrated.

5. Removable and replaceable battery! That hand grip battery will get tired one day and now you can just buy a new one!

Cons:

1. I was hopeful there would be more light from the stick if I'm honest. A few times I was looking for a little more pop and it just didn't deliver as much as I wanted. For most people and most shots it should be fine but I'd like more.

2. Construction feels a little cheap with all the plastic but that's the sacrifice to keep it lightweight and portable. Just understand that you have a plastic product.

So what's this light for?

I found it really useful to throw splashes of color into shots. A subtle back light or hair light for photos to add some depth. It probably doesn't deliver enough to be your main light but if you need a lightweight fill or a back light, this could be your answer. While not something I used it for, I'm sure for video work this could be a useful creative tool.

All in all, great light.

Outperformed my expectations

This bar light outperformed my expectations. I owned several bar lights before, and the one thing I don't like about them is the configuration. I mistakenly always set the wrong settings. This one, on the other hand, has a configuration that feels good. I can easily make the necessary adjustments.

Not only is it easy to use, but it is also well-designed. The light quality is good, and like most new lights these days, the light temperature can be easily adjusted. Plus, you can control it with the Godox app and it also features RGB functions.

You can power on the light with the handle, which is also the battery, or you can power it with the provided USB cable. I like that it includes barn doors, which I found very useful. Lastly, I was very surprised that it also included a bag and flash holder bracket. The bracket is a great accessory because it allows you to adjust the angle of the light when mounted on a stand. I'll be buying another one of these bars soon to complete the pair

Such a Premium Product

I’m genuinely impressed with the quality of this light. It’s really well-made, comes with a nice carrying case and a light stand adapter and just has a truly premium feel. The quality of the light coming out of this is excellent and I like having the barn doors so you can really shape the direction of the light. I’ve tried a few of these kinds of tube lights in the past, but I think this is definitely my favorite one. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Light

Great and truly versatile light for photo/video work. The Godox LC500R has earned a spot in my wedding bag.

The quality and brightness of the light is great for the size. The tube nature makes for interesting portrait work, and the barn doors help with that as well. it's reasonably soft light right out of the box.

I've been using it in all sorts of setups, makes a great key light for close up pet photography. Makes a good rim light for people portraits.

It's great on set or in the studio because you can get additional battery grips and just swap them as needed. I never cared for built in lithium batteries that you can't swap.

The controls are also fantastic. They are simple and very responsive. The buttons feel nice as well.

And i really like that there is a "mute" button. A single button that cuts brightness to 0% at a single press and back to its previous setting when you press it again. I know that sounds silly but when in the studio or working with talent it's really helpful to be able to cut the light without powering it down.

It also makes a surprisingly nice work light, especially if you have a mini tripod or gorilla pod screwed into the bottom. I find myself reaching for this light when i need to poke inside my computer or do other random house tasks.

My only complaint is that the LED chips are sort of large and there arent many, so as you can see in my photo you can sometimes get awkward lens flares. This only seems to be an issue when shooting almost directly facing the light though. I guess as compared to other lens flares these ones seem rather un-athestic to me.... but this is a minor complaint.

Lcd broken on one of my models

I ordered two of these products and one of them doesn't have their LCB turn on so it's going to become a lot more difficult to sync up theirhues and brightnesses when it going into shoots.

I like the product, but their QA is atrocious if they let something as blaring as the info LCD be broken on delivery. 1/5

Portable, bright and colorful!

I love my Godox RGB light stick! It’s portable, bright and the bulbs are able to change to many different colors. I took it out at night and it was able to illuminate the entire area which gave a very cool effect to my photos.

Better than I thought they'd be

I have a LOT of Godox products, and I didn't know exactly what I expected, but these are even better.

They come with a fantastic carrying case, and the material of the tube lights feels very nice, but lightweight at the same time. I think they made the material a bit thinner than they could have because they are meant to be handheld as well as on a light stand, so I appreciate that.

It comes with barn doors which can easily be removed or reversed depending on whether you're using bi-color or RGB mode (they are on opposite sides).

The remote is awesome, and has color presets, which are great to use, or good starting points for tweaking.

Very bright and color accurate as usual, and you can see in my last photo how much bigger they are than the Nanlite Pavotube II 6C. The Pavotubes are only 6 watts while these are 32 watts. Granted, the Pavotube II 6C are meant for a slightly different application, but they are very dim compared to these, so I think that makes these more versatile.

They are perfect for backgrounds, back/accent lights, practicals, light painting, and more.
