Outstanding Wireless Mic Kit for Cameras and Mobile Devices

This wireless microphone kit is a fantastic value for anyone on a budget looking for a compact solution compatible with SLR cameras, smartphones, tablets, and laptops. I needed reliable battery life, excellent sound quality, and the ability to record over reasonable distances, and this kit surpassed all my expectations.

The package includes two wireless mics with optional noise-limiting technology, which worked flawlessly. The receiver’s built-in battery lasted through extended use without needing a recharge, and the mic/transmitter units also had impressive battery life. Sound levels are adjustable on the receiver, though I found the default settings perfect for my needs.

The mic pickup is exceptional—I was giving instructions 20 feet away from two people wearing the mics, and my voice was captured clearly. The kit comes with all necessary cables, wind socks, and even spare magnets for securing the mics. I hid the mics under clothing during recording and was impressed that fabric rustling wasn’t an issue, though my subjects stayed relatively still.

This kit works seamlessly with my Canon DSLR cameras (both older and newer models), iPhone, and Android devices. Setup is incredibly straightforward, with minimal adjustments needed right out of the box. The reliable connection, ease of use, and outstanding sound quality make this a top-notch choice. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a versatile, high-quality wireless mic kit at an unbeatable price! If you find this useful, please mark as helpful.

Defective product

I just opened the box and I see that the magnetics from the clips were detached.

What can I expect from this microphone.

Fantastic audio quality, coming from a cinematographer

Be sure to watch my video in this review for an audio demonstration.

I'm a cinematographer and do a lot of work in the studio and outside. I have a number of wireless mics from different brands. I have to say this Godox wireless mic is the most compact version I own now and for such a small footprint, the audio quality is pretty amazing. Build quality is very good, as the transmitters fit perfectly behind the receiver as an all-in-one unit, that fits perfectly in the included case.

The receiver actually acts as a charging base for the transmitters as well, as you can see in my photos.

I was able to use this setup directly with my phone to record video and also of course my professional Sony camera's. In both scenarios the audio sounded fantastic.

I'm not one to typically use onboard built-in noise reduction but I have to say Godox has done a really good job with their DNR circuitry.

The menu system was pretty easy to navigate along with the touch screen allowing you to scroll with your thumb through different selections.

The microphones will clip to your shirt via magnetic attachment. They were so small that they are hardly noticeable. The only thing I wish is that they also had the option for a plugin lapel mic. But maybe excluding that option is what allowed the engineers to make the microphone so small.

Overall if you're looking for a compact audio solution that has great sound quality, I would highly recommend this product by Godox.

I have to admit, I'll probably be using this setup more often that I thought!

GODOX magic LAVALIER

The case doubles as a charger. The lavalier is easy to clip on to your clothing or even on another surface. The overall quality is good and the mic is good quality. The interface is easy to work with. I like being able to attach the touchscreen/charger to a hot-shoe.

Overall, a good lavalier option with tons of features. I recommend.

Exceptional. A practical mic system

This is one of the most practical lav systems I've ever used.

Sound quality is great for what it is. The microphones are tiny in comparison to my on-camera shotgun microphones. They're very versatile and fit the subject quite easily.

The screen on the receiver is touchscreen, which I wasn't expecting. Due to its size it can be hard to navigate but it works.

What I found interesting was the stereo option, which gives the microphones the ability to work together and create one stereo audio file. Otherwise, when using only one mic, the Mono option is preferred because under the stereo option, it only gives a left or right audio track.

Overall, highly recommended.

Great Audio

Great audio quality but lacking features that are in more current lavalier microphone. The audio does suppress some background sound, although; further impost editing is required. Overall, a great lavaliere microphone that is pretty standard.

Very well thought-out package

I bought these to replace my DJI Mic that suffered from interference and hum issues. The sound that comes out of these tiny little Godox mics is amazing. They have a surprisingly deep, clean sound, but they are also super-sensitive. I use the recording mode that protects from clipping. You can mount these inside or outside clothing with little, discreet magnetic discs or use the magnetic clip. The receiving unit acts as a storage unit and charger for the mics. It comes with adapters for cold- or hot-shoe mounting. After reading the instructions, I realized you don't need the adapters - the receiver just slides into the hot shoe. Audio is recorded onto your camera or field recorder through a cable - there's no memory card slot. I'm not a fan of fuzzy windscreens - I wish there were some foam ones for these. The pics give you and idea how small these are.

This microphones are amazing, the quality is unbelievable. The sound is so clear and the range is great. They are easy to use and easy to set up. They work with both Apple and Android. It has really good noise blocking capability. I used this on my vacation and the battery lasted all day long with continuous use. Amazing value and amazing quality.

Perfect Affordable All-in-One Mic for Content Creators

This is a super handy tool for content creators, especially if you’re someone who works with a bunch of different devices. It’s compatible with everything your phones, camera, tablet, computer, so you don’t have to stress about switching between gear. It even comes with all the cables you need, including 3.5mm, USB-C, and Lightning.

One of the coolest things about this mic is that the receiver is also the charging case, so it’s all in one. You just pop it back in when you’re done, and it charges itself.

In terms of performance, the sound quality is clear and stable, It’s great for most setups, and the noise reduction is a lifesaver when you need it. It’s not the absolute best compared to super high-end mics, but for the price, it does more than enough.

Overall, is a great, reliable mic for anyone who needs a mix of portability, ease of use, and solid audio. Whether you're a content creator or just need a dependable wireless mic, this one’s a winner!

Neodymium Bean

One of my new favorite sets for run and gun shooting.

This is the second set of Magic XT1 mics I've gotten and will admit it's awesome. The sound recording quality is really good, not the best, but still very good. Why I love this lav set is how compact and extremely convenient it is. The fact the lav's just pack into the receiver and can be pulled out whenever needed is outstanding. Really the only change I wish is the XT1 was somehow designed to slot into the smart shoe of whatever system you are using and it would be absolutely outstanding.

It's particularly great for run and gun shooting for people doing youtube shorts, or tik tok videos. lavs are really tiny and the magnet system they have is perfect for it. If you prefer clips it even has that. Sadly you can't connect a wired lav to the wireless lav so that's one of the limitations of the system. There isn't also any safety recording on the unit like some of the more expensive systems.

I found in testing the range is reasonable, though not close to the 200m listed unless you are in the MOST IDEAL environment. I got about 90 feet with a couple walls in between before some hard drops, and sometimes it even dropped before that. In open are I got a good 200~240 feet before issues, which isn't exactly close to the 200m listed.

Because of the convenience of this lav set, it's been a favorite this summer for me. The DJI Wireless Mic and Rode Wireless GO II has actually just been sitting at home while I use this for smaller projects and have been very happy with it. For more serious work those systems are used because of the redundancy.

Very Compact Lav Mics

These Lavs are really cool because they charge right in the receiver. this makes them super portable and they are always charged. The sound quality is pretty decent and well worth the $$$. The range is really good on these as well. We had no issues whatsoever with interference or cutting out. Im pretty happy with these and will most likely but another set for additional lavs.

Amazing wireless lavalier

The wireless lavalier microphones godox offer excellent sound quality with impressive range and clarity. They're incredibly easy to set up and use, making them perfect for both professionals and beginners. The battery life is also commendable, allowing for extended recording sessions without interruption. Additionally, the compact and lightweight design makes them highly portable and convenient for on-the-go recording. Overall, these microphones provide great value for the price and are a must-have for anyone serious about audio recording.

Great audio isolation

Decided to take it for a test in a crowded bar. There was music playing, a rambunctious atmosphere. I was pleasntly suprised that it isolated my voice so well. For the price i wasnt expecting this level of performance. Very satisfied.

Innovative and tiny

My other mic broke down so got this as a replacement. The innovation…a transmitter that’s also a charging case? You bet! Connection is great and crispy clear. They also have a hard shell case for you. But wait there’s more…the receivers are so tiny they are about half the size of my other mic. This allows me to use it more discretely which makes my life easier for small spaces or performances. For this price I’m getting everything I need. Great value! Will come back once I use it for long enough for battery life.

Very competitive for an 'entry-level prosumer wireless mic kit’

Item: GODOX Magic XT1 Wireless Lav-Mic Set

Price: $109.00 at time of review on 08 12 24

Speaking from experience, and having used the Godox Magic XT1 kit, I continue to be of the opinion that it’s one of the better choices when compared to other lower-priced prosumer wireless kits. Unique to the many other wireless kits I’ve reviewed, the Magic XT1 incorporates an interesting ‘all-in-one’ storage-charging solution, whereby the two transmitters click onto the receiver. While you do get a molded fabric case, the receiver nesting the two transmitters gives you a quick store and charge utility. And overall, 'compactness' is certainly what you’ll notice in this set’s list of features.

Distilling all the bullet points on the vendor page, I took some of the ratings with a grain of salt, but even then appreciated just how many features were included in this small but powerful mic kit.

* 1-click dynamic noise reduction * 10-level volume adjustment * Maximum 200-meters or for English measure, 656-feet wireless range * 16-hours working time (however, I’d say optimisitic if running all components at highest levels) * Each transmitter provides (approximately) 8 hours of runtime (again, optimistic) * Entire system powered by the Receiver/Docking function, which per the vendor supports (up to) 16 hours recording time

Overall a very competent wireless kit, high quality but with a price price point that I identify as the higher end of budget wireless systems. And most important, when listening to my recordings using the XT-1, I could hear nearly the same audio quality as with my high-end systems. So if you’re not wanting to spend well over the $100 mark, but want consistent quality performance, this might be worth a long look. And if you feel comfortable with the price point, I’d recommend the XT-1 as a viable ‘first wireless kit’ purchase.

Would recommend.

great product

I recently purchased the Godox wireless triggers, and I am thoroughly impressed. They are excellent and very compact, which makes them incredibly convenient to use. I am very pleased with their performance and highly recommend them, especially considering the price. Great value for money!

High quality hardware, clever design, mounts to camera

We recently did promotional interview-style videos for our company marketing, and we used both mics (the interviewer, and interviewee). The case/receiver has the ability to mount directly on the camera and plug right into its audio input. Everything worked flawlessly. We even positioned the on-camera interviewee's mic further down her lapel to avoid being seen, and there didn't seem to be any degradation of sound quality. This thing is very well thought out, and has an obvious quality look and feel to it. The noise cancellation did an acceptable job, but we still had better sounding results after turning off the air conditioner in the room.

Godox is a well respected brand, and now I can see why. Highly recommended.

Impressive Compact Mic Setup

I've wanted to have better audio when shooting video for quite some time but never bit the bullet so to speak, but finally did when I saw the GODOX Magic XT1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone. I had heard of GODOX and seen some reviews so I was a little familiar with them than others. I was quite impressed with the overall design and build of this microphone system. Extremely compact and that's something I love, as I don't want to be burdened with bulky equipment if I can help it. The cavaliers are super tiny and really like how they can be clipped or attached via a magnetic back (genius). Some of my favorite things are the touchscreen, how everything is in one piece for charging, and the great carrying case everything fits into. This set up is perfect for my needs and would suggest this to anyone looking to "up" their audio game.

Superior styled lapel mics.

I have tried out a few variations of these mini, portable lapel mics. Each with it's own pros and cons. These ones right here have definitely become my favorite to use.

The lapels themselves are a nice small size and use a magnet on the back in order to place it anywhere you want on a shirt. There is also a clip too if you prefer a traditional method. But those magnets are quite strong and I have yet to have any issues with them. Sound is beyond excellent too.

The best part is how the 2 mics connect into the main transceiver for an all in one package. Allowing them all to charge together without having to have a separate cord for ear. Very cool. On the transceiver itself there is a mini touch screen for options, sound levels, muting, and so on. The mics can be used in a left and right channel or combined together. With a variety a settings that can be manipulated. Yet, it also just works plug and play simple too.

Hooking up to either a video camera, cell phone, mixing board, or whatever you need these for. With my tripod I actually can clip the transceiver part right on the tripod to hold it in place. Might not work for everyone's setup. If you have a video camera it will attach to the hot shoe. If you are using a cell phone with an attachable section, the transceiver can be a bulky hanging object. Also, it has an extra slot for headphones to monitor the live audio and listen back.

Overall this unit is just so great in so many ways. Holds a strong charge, works at a distance, and just has instant excellent sound quality. Beyond impressed.

Great mic for a reasonable price

I really like this Godox Magic XT1 mic system. This is the second Godox system I own.

The box includes 1 receiver, 2 transmitters, a TRS to TRS audio cable, a TRS to USB-C audio cable, 2 furry windshields, 2 magnetic clips, 2 spare magnets for the transmitters, a USB-C to USB-A Charging cable, and a User Manual.

The Transmitters fit into the receiver for storage, and the receiver also serves as the charger for both the receiver and the transmitters via the receiver's USB-C port.

The Transmitters just have one button which serves as both the power switch and also to turn on/off the Noise Reduction.

The receiver has a touch screen menu for all the various settings, but you can also make adjustments through a combination of short presses on the power switch and short/long presses on the volume control.

The receivers has 2 channels which you can set as two mono channels, one stereo channel, or one mono + one safety (-6dB).

The audio out from the receiver is via the TRS output connector using either the TRS to TRS cable if you are connecting to a DSLR camera, or using the TRS to USB-C is you are connecting to a computer or phone, as I did in the test video.

Overall, I really liked the quality of the audio. I felt that the noise reduction did enough without affecting the quality of the audio, though in my testing I preferred the sound without the NR.

Casual Gearhead

favorite mic in a crowded market segment

So...I definitely feel like the market for multi-device, budget friendly wireless lav mics is pretty saturated...with most of the options being okay, but usually having at least one crippling design flaw. Let's check out this new offering from Godox:

Pros: I love the design here, and it is easily the smartest in the market segment. Mics are tucked up under the receiver when not in use...which is genius design. When done filming...the entire unit slips nicely into the provided case...a fabric case on par with the competing offerings, not the best in the segment, not the worst. But definitely an appreciated feature. There are two muffs which work fine, and two different ways to clip to clothing...using magnetic clips or straight magnets...with an extra set of magnets provided. Also provided are a usb c cable and camera cable to connect the receiver. There is a provided menu, but it is so simple that if you have even used a similar product, you will immediately recognize and intuitively know how to use this set...in other words, the provided manual isn't all that necessary with this one. And that speaks to smart design.

The sound quality is good, and so long as you don't turn on the noise reduction filter, which while aggressive, isn't the most aggressive in the segment but still unusable. I don't know why these manufacturers keeps including that "feature"...if you can't do final product quality, skip it, save the cost on the device, we will do it in post, which handles it better anyways. Everyone will be happier in the end.

The distance is really really good on this one, I ran out of room to walk before losing the signal, so long as I was in direct visual line. Just a few meters out and you will start losing signal with loss of eyeline. Here in my studio, I could face any direction at any time and didn't experience any signal loss...but I was likely never more than six feet from the camera.

The construction quality is good. Yes...it is mostly plastic...that's just what you are going to find at this price point honestly....but this is good quality. Didn't scuff as easily as others...but this will show wear in relative short time if you are taking it on the go every day. But that's true of all of them realistically.

The mic runs extremely hot...I had to turn down the signal to almost zero in camera to keep it from consistently bumping past -12 (I like to give myself some room for editing, not bumping right up against max...you can't tone down loud sounds later if they're blown)...but it is a very clean signal. I was a little shocked, I figured it would sound exactly like the previous set, just have a new body. These sounded better. Kind of a lot better actually. Not sure if it is just the housing design, or if they did switch capsules...but it sounds great.

So...I feel like I have said this three times in the last year, but to be fair, two of those times were on Godox mics....these are my new favorites, and in my go bag. I like them so much I kinda wanted them for my in studio mics, but, they just work so well for "on-the-go" that I feel like I'd be cheating them of their proper existence if I kept them locked up in my studio all the time. These deserve to get out into the world and record as much as they can. Just wish they had an onboard recording system built in...then they'd be perfect.

Game Changer From A Trusted Company!

I may be biased, but I tend to get excited when I see the name "Godox". I've tested a couple of their offerings before, and found them to be solid. This Magic XT1 wireless lavalier set is NO exception!

Shipped with the signature Godox protective case, they REALLY thumbed their noses at the competition with this set! It comes with a very small, compact form factor, as well as a multi-colored touchscreen that gives you instant access to nine different controls (without the need for annoying software/apps).

The form factor is built in a way that allows it to be compatible with any DSLR camera. It fits perfectly into the camera's shoe mount, allowing you to connect the provided 3.55mm to your camera's 3.55mm, provided that your DSLR has this capability! I say that because my DSLR (Canon EOS Rebel T7 - not T7i) does NOT have this feature, so for folks like US, they include a 3.55mm to USB-C cable, which enables me to connect flawlessly to my computer or laptop!

I actually have it connected to my PC via this cord attached to a USB-C to USB-A adapter - and it works flawlessly! I recorded a sample of my voice in Adobe Audition in order to hear how it sounds as well as test the frequency response in real time (pic included). As you can see, it attenuates toward the low end (bass) and gives you a nice mix throughout the rest of the spectrum. Even though the bass appears to be filtered a bit, it really does NOT take away anything significant from the natural bass inherent in those of us who have deeper, more "boomy" voices.

Now, let's talk about the MAGNETS. These little magnets are EXTREMELY powerful. Up until now, I didn't have much faith in magnets as means of connecting a mic to a garment, but these have changed my mind! Clearly, they were magnetized on Krypton prior to its destruction because these things are VERY powerful! I did 50 jumping...okay, I did 20 jumping jacks and the mic did NOT move! They also include traditional clamps (also inhumanly magnetized), just in case you need that option. They include the typical windscreens for outdoor use, but you may not need them due to the noise reduction features of these mics. I'll be honest, I tried the NR feature and really saw no difference, except a slight attenuation in the high end (which appears to be the standard protocol for NR in mics like these) but I have not used it outside, so take that with a grain of salt.

As far as the "safety track" feature...ummm...I have NO clue what this is. I'm guessing (based on my experiment in Adobe Audition), that it simply reduces gain? I really don't know what this means, but hey - it's there, LOL.

At any rate, Godox strikes again with another amazing consumer-level product that performs at a professional level WITHOUT the professional cost!
