The more important the moment, the less likely you are to connect.

Stable internet and a wired camera can't overcome Google's poor connectivity and loading. Time and time again, the camera will not connect immediately following a push notification.

Combined with the system's tendency to end recordings early, Google Home and the Nest Cameras are PERFECT for anyone wanting to spend a lot of money to not record or capture important incidents.

Big fan of Google products

Personally, you got this for my kids' room to make sure that I can monitor them if anything for the night. The reason why I love google is the fact that everything is easy to store, easy to start, and also it's secure backed by Google own in house software. My biggest nightmare is to buy a camera that software is made by a unknown company, and they have a backdoor where they can watch my kids sleeping that's why I went with Google. Good quality, easy to setup and works without any issues.

Don't waste your money on this camera get something better...

I bought this camera straight from Google and I've had nothing but problems with it. It continuously disconnects from my WiFi and in order to reconnect I have to go through the process of completely hard resetting the device and adding it back to my Google home. Very insecure if you ask me, I had an old nest camera before Google bought them and I never had a problem with it. This camera also sucks at transitioning from day/night modes, in low light you can hear it continuously clicking as it switches back and forth....

Great camera

Really great camera for the money. Easy to setup, basically plug and play. Great picture day and night that you can zoom in or out.

I use it outside under our porch to look at our cove watching boats go by and storms as they come and go

Excellent Video Quality and Easy Setup

I’m very happy with this Google Nest Cam. The 2K video quality is sharp and clear, and the night vision works incredibly well, even in rooms with very little light. Setup was quick and easy through the Google Home app, and the motion alerts arrive promptly on my phone. The two-way audio is another great feature—the sound is clear in both directions. I also love its modern, compact design because it blends beautifully with my home décor. It gives me extra peace of mind when I’m away from home. Definitely worth the purchase!

This is more so on

Package came used when I bought brand new. This camera has definitely been in a house fire. Unsure if it works because I refuse to plug it in. But I guess 5 stars to durability for surviving the damn thing.

Mounting Challenges but why better than no name brands

Does NOT have magnetic mount (alexa for shopping ai says it does) & does NOT accept 1/4 20 tripod style screw mounts, (again Alexa for shopping claimed it did). The earlier version of the Nest Indoor Camera (v2) had better mounting options. For reasons unknown google made it worse & the alexa for shopping ai thinks this version has native options that it does not. This camera (v3) really wants you to drill it into a wall using only the screws it comes packaged with. Trying to customize the native mount is difficult. I wanted to mount these in specific ways & I can’t.

Way better than blink! Great quality

Best doggie cam for crate training a pup! Easy to use and activate to your app! Works great’s pulls up the live video within seconds, a lot faster than blink! Great night vision too

Customer

Great security camera

I have several of these, they are quick and easy to set up, you can personalize the settings to fit your needs. Some of mine are in windows and some are inside my home. They work flawlessly, crisp, clear pics even through a window screen. Price was right, no batteries, these are wired. You can look at all your cameras at a glance, zoom in, zoom out... Peace of mind knowing who is at your home when away and when packages are delivered. The camera will alert you.

Can't recommend enough

Fully featured indoor camera- works flawlessly with the rest of the Google Ecosystem!

The Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired) is a major upgrade over the previous generation! This is a top-tier indoor camera that delivers a premium experience, great functionality, flawless connectivity, and improved Night Vision!

The Good:

Seamless AI Integration: When paired with a Nest Aware subscription, the AI features are incredible. The summarized notifications that appear as GIFs on my phone are a game-changer for quickly checking on things without opening the full feed.

Superior Quality: The image clarity is excellent, and the physical build feels even more premium than the last gen.

Mounting Versatility: There are tons of interesting third-party mounting options available, making it easy to place exactly where you need it.

Motion Detection: Works great, and lots of options to customize zones, and type of motion.

The Not-So-Good:

Subscription Dependent: The primary downside is that many of the "must-have" features—like AI summaries and 24/7 video history—are locked behind the Nest Aware subscription. Without it, the camera's utility is more limited.

Higher price than Is like but quality backs it up

When I got a camera for the dog room I went cheaper as I thought I just needed basic functionality. Queue the newest addition to the family having separation anxiety and requiring a closer eye and recorded events to see how he ended up in certain situations (i.e. how did your crate end up in the middle of the room) so I could share with his vet and trainer. I already have Google cameras on the outside of the house and when I saw it was on sale I grabbed so I could have everything on one system. So glad I did. The difference between the cameras is insane! The picture and sound is way clearer and the field view is way wider. I ended up creating a comparison pic, I was so shocked at the difference. The top is a Google nest and the bottom is blink. Initially I was worried about switching from a 360 cam to stationary but the view is so wide I don't need to worry about it, I can see all my dogs at a galnce. I haven't tested the speak function but assume it works like my outside cameras. I will note, I don't pay for the best subscription my security company does. Overall I'm satisfied with the buy

Dependable

This striking red wide-angle camera is an absolute must-have. It’s reliable because it doesn’t risk losing battery charge. Its long wire makes it easy to plug in, especially since it fits perfectly on top of a tall cat tree. Knowing that our pets are safe and sound when we’re away gives us peace of mind.

Solid Indoor Camera if You’re Already in the Google Ecosystem

I set up this Google Nest Cam Indoor in the dining area of my apartment, angled toward my living room and my puppy’s crate, mainly so I can keep an eye on him when I’m at work or running errands.

Setup was very easy and only took about five minutes. I had no issues connecting it to Wi-Fi or adding it to the Google Home app. Video quality looks good during the day, and the night vision is also clear enough to see what’s going on after dark. The two-way audio is clear and easy to understand, which is helpful if I want to talk to my puppy remotely.

Motion alerts are generally reliable, though occasionally it will pick up motion from the TV if it’s on. Reviewing clips in the app is simple and straightforward. I already have a Nest Aware subscription for my doorbell camera, so adding this camera was easy, though I do wish more features were available without a subscription.

Overall, this has been a solid indoor camera for pet monitoring and general home awareness. It works especially well if you’re already using other Google Nest devices.

Does the job.

Little hard to mount but overall no complaints. Video is good quality and provides peace of mind. Really useful also if you have other Google devices as you can access them all from the Google home app.

Reliable and Red: My Review of the Google Nest Cam Indoor

The Google Nest Cam Indoor (Wired, 3rd Gen) is a solid security camera with impressive performance. Its 2K video quality is very clear, making it easy to see details both day and night. Installation is simple and straightforward, even for first-time users.

It works perfectly with Google Home, making it easy to view your camera feed, control settings, and integrate it into your smart home routine.

The camera comes at a reasonable price, offering great value for the features it provides. I also love that it comes in red, which is my favorite color—it's a fun touch that makes it stand out from typical security cameras.

Overall, it’s a reliable, easy-to-use indoor camera that looks good and performs well.

Not worth it

You will have to pay extra subscription service even for a small feature like longer recording. So disappointed

Garage door alert makes this more than worth it

We have two single garage doors-one has a new, wifi connected door opener that shows in a (clunky) app if it is open. The other is an old opener without wifi capability. Having teenagers who drive means there are more people who may accidentally leave the garage door open. We have this camera pointed into the garage so it can see the doors. I have the app set to notify me if it sees a garage door open for more than 15 minutes. It has only happened a couple of times, but it worked perfectly. The camera uses AI to decide what an opening and closing garage door looks like and I get notifications when it sees either thing happening and if it's left open.

The camera is easy to install and connection to the app was instant. I really like the Google Home app and how quick it connects to see the garage. Our previous camera seemed to take a long time and several phone clicks to get to a live feed. The Google Nest cameras come up instantly and the picture is great. The cord is plenty long to reach the plug too.

We have three Nest cameras and they all work together in the app which is nice. I can see what's happening in the garage, the driveway, and the porch all at the same time. I will continue to purchase Nest cameras in the future since they are all compatible. Overall very pleased and would definitely purchase again.

The great quality you expect from Google

Overall at about $99 this is a fair value for a 2K Google Nest indoor camera that ties straight into the Google Home app.

Picture quality is very good with a sharp, detailed image and nice color, and the night vision makes it easy to see what’s going on in a darker room. I like the small rounded look of the camera too – it blends in on a shelf and doesn’t scream “security camera” which I really like. The two-way audio is clear enough for talking to someone or checking in on pets, though it’s not going to replace a dedicated speaker or anything.

Setup and connectivity were simple: plug it in, scan the QR code, and connect it to Wi-Fi, and after that the connection has been stable for me. This one is wired only so there’s no battery life to worry about, but you do have to be near an outlet and live with the cable. Compatibility is mainly where the tradeoffs are – it only works with the Google Home app (not the older Nest app) and is really aimed at a Google ecosystem, so if you’re using a mix of platforms there are cheaper, more generic cameras out there. For a Google Home household though, at $99 I’d still call it a fair value, especially if you can grab it a bit cheaper on sale.

Nice, home centric camera

First impression of this camera is that it's way heavier than it looks. The body is hard and heavy but it sits by itself without problem if you choose to place it on a flat surface.

As an indoor camera, it's got pretty good clarity. Looking at a live picture and zooming in still shows a pretty good picture. I can see faces and objects fairly easily. Night vision is fantastic and I can see perfectly. It had a very wide angle view, so you can place it centrally and have a really good view of your room.

Camera records motion and identifies people, animals, etc. Even though I have notifications on, I don't get push alerts to tell me when things are happening. Still trying to figure that out.

I can't find a function to record with the basic version. I can view live and that's it. I also only get motion alerts saved for 6hrs, I think. If you're asleep when something happens, it may not be available to view by the time you wake up. That's where their premium plan comes in. It's like 100 per year and though not required, it kinda is if you want your cameras to actually function as a recording device.

Setup was extremely easy. You need a Google Home account and it walks you through setup and even wall mounting step by step, with photos. Extremely easy and user friendly.

I love the gray on these; I feel like they blend in better with the background in neutral rooms and outdoors. Overall, it's one of the better made cameras (just based on first impressions of the camera body) and picture. Base function is adequate but be prepared to pay a subscription fee to get the full use of the cameras.

Nice improvements on picture quality same easy to install and use platform

The picture quality is much better than the first generation! It’s super easy to set up. It seems to also capture a wider angle. I like the red color option. I added two pictures on my porch of my husband feeding the cats taken a day apart, one with the original nest and the following day the new nest

Amanda

My favorite camera!

Okay, first of all the color is ADORABLE and the packaging was stunning! Second off, it’s wide angle and can be mounted or sat on a shelf (I opted for a shelf). It gets my entire living room in the view with no problem! The app is Google Home and allows me to see all of the events from the day without paying for it (thank goodness!). It detects humans (my cat sitter) and pets (my kitty cats) flawlessly! The quality is also fantastic! Super functional!

Great if you’re in the google ecosystem

If you’re already in the Google/Nest ecosystem or looking to build your smart home around it, this is a solid option. I do worry a bit since Google has been in the process of killing off Nest and their support ever since the acquisition hasn’t been great, however. There’s been a lot of things they either failed to deliver on or took forever to do so, which leaves me concerned for ongoing support for Nest branded products in the future. I’m also not a fan of the fact that the activation process requires you to waive your right to sue Google in favor of “binding arbitration”.

That said, this thing is pretty cool. Actual video quality is quite good but also what I’d expect from a more premium camera, not any better or worse, but the implementation of the Gemini AI here is honestly incredible. Being able to get detailed notifications that a package was delivered or that a group of people walked by, that there were dogs running around, etc. is some seriously futuristic stuff. Supposedly it’s just going to get better as time goes on too—provided Google does indeed keep to their word with this product and deliver updates as promised.

Foggy night vision and a blue hue.

I’m a long time Nest camera user. So far, this new camera disappoints. It replaced an older generation Nest camera. I have it set up indoors and for much of the day the streaming video has strong blue hue to it, which didn’t happen with the previous generation.

Further, the night vision has a very “foggy” look to it compared with the previous generations with much less clarity. This camera has to be installed on the Google Home app, so I had to move all of my cameras from the Nest app. The upside is I now get Gemini AI analyzing what it sees and can summarize the activities of the day. The down side is I’ve now lost “Hey Google” on my Nest IQ cameras. Hopefully there is a fix for the image issues soon or this camera is going back.

Pictures show previous gen video grabs compared with the new camera during day and night.

A Truly "Smart" Camera - The Future of Home Security is Here!

I've been a longtime user of various smart home cameras, but the Google Nest Cam Indoor (Wired, 3rd Gen) with Gemini is in a league of its own. This isn't just an incremental update; it feels like a generational leap forward in home security.

Stunning 2K Video Quality:

The first thing you'll notice is the incredible video quality. The 2K HDR resolution is exceptionally crisp and clear. Colors are vibrant and details are sharp, which makes a huge difference when you're trying to see what's happening in your home. The wider field of view is a fantastic improvement, allowing me to see almost my entire living room from a single vantage point. The night vision is also top-notch, providing a clear picture even in complete darkness.

Gemini Makes It Genuinely Intelligent:

What truly sets this camera apart is the integration of Gemini. The promise of being able to search my video history with natural language is a game-changer. I'm excited for the upcoming features that will provide detailed event descriptions. Knowing I'll be able to ask "What happened to the vase in the living room?" and get a summary with relevant clips is exactly the kind of smart functionality I've been waiting for.

Seamless Google Home Integration:

Setup was an absolute breeze. The unboxing experience is clean and simple, and the instructions are straightforward. Using the Google Home app, I just had to scan the QR code on the camera, and it was connected to my Wi-Fi and ready to go in minutes. The app itself is intuitive, making it easy to check the live feed, review history, and use the two-way audio. The two-way audio is crystal clear, making it perfect for talking to my pets or family when I'm not home.

A Breath of Fresh Air for Connectivity:

My house is currently full of cameras from a different brand, and this Nest Cam might just be my turning point. I've grown so frustrated with my old cameras failing to connect. I have a fiber connection averaging over 300 mbps, yet I'm constantly waiting for attempt 2, then attempt 3, just to see a live feed. The Google Nest Cam connects instantly, every single time. That reliability alone is a game-changer.

Peace of Mind in a Sleek Package:

The design of the camera is modern and unobtrusive. The "Snow" color blends in nicely with my decor. The alerts for people, vehicles, and animals are accurate and timely. I'm especially looking forward to the familiar face detection with the Google Home Premium subscription.

If you're looking for a smart indoor security camera that offers exceptional video quality and truly intelligent features, the Google Nest Cam Indoor with Gemini is the one to get. It's a fantastic device that provides peace of mind and a glimpse into the future of home security. Highly recommended!
