Solid, heavy-duty charger without the app bloat.

Built in Canada, this no-nonsense Level 2 charger lets you manually adjust the amp settings—which I prefer since my Ioniq 5 handles all the tracking I need. It outputs a reliable 9 kW at 40 amps.

My only minor issue out of the box was a loose rattling nut, which was no big deal since I had to open it up to configure the amps anyway. Great backup charger, especially for a free-charging work commuter!

Seems like an excellent product so far

In 2024, I bought the Grizzl-E "Classic" with CCS adapter for my Ioniq 5, and I paid an electrician to hardwire it and mount it outside my house. I just bought the newer Grizzl-E "Classic Connect" with NACS adapter for my new BMW iX3. This time I didn't hire an electrician, I simply cut off the power at the circuit breaker and replaced the old box with the new one.

Thoughts -- (1) FYI, the external housing and mounting bracket are the same as the older "Connect" model, but the internal circuit board is totally different - it's not just a WiFi module or daughter board attached to the same main board. (2) The NACS cable is much thinner and lighter than the earlier model's CCS cable. Also, the wall holster for the NACS adapter is totally different and uses different mounting screws. (3) The physical installation was pretty straightforward - I have no notes. (4) IMHO, there are few genuine benefits to including WiFi in a charging adapter. Both of my cars already have functions for remote turn on/off and scheduling, so a person probably will be 100% fine disabling the Grizzl-E unit's WiFi entirely. The website has instructions for how to do this. I'm just mentioning this because I see a few reviewers handing out 1-star reviews because of WiFi issues that seem totally avoidable to me. (5) I have a Ubiquiti home WiFi network with two separate SSIDs - one that is 2.4 GHz only and is for IOT devices, and the other that supports 5 and 6 GHz and is for everything else. I connected the Grizzl-E unit to the 2.4 GHz network. It took two tries, and I had to "reboot" the Grizzl-E by power cycling it in the middle, but since then it has been connected just fine at ~-69 dBm despite the signal passing through multiple 100 yo brick walls. Note that the Grizzl-E box has its own mini server - point the browser of any gadget on the same network to its internal IP address and you will have direct access to information about the current voltage and current flow, security settings, system status, etc., so you aren't solely reliant on the (somewhat lacking) phone app they provide.

Great charger, app has finicky wifi setup

Great charger! I got the Classic Connect 40amp with NACS.

The only reason I'm not giving it the 5th star is because this is the first smart home device I've used (of dozens) that doesn't support spaces in the wifi password! It isn't hard, they could just make the app stop artificially rejecting the password. I literally had to set up a second SSID and password just for this one device just to avoid changing the password on 30 other devices.

But it works well! It doesn't seem to have any thermal issues in the handful of charges I've done so far. Feels very rugged, and installation was super easy. Just two screws for the mounting plate into a stud in my garage. The NEMA 14-50 cable that plugs into the wall was just long enough, but I could see a few more inches being useful for others.
