Got a dent the first time I used it.

I bought two of these. The first time I used it to go to Columbia it got a dent in the corner. Very disappointed. Other than that happening, it’s an excellent suitcase! We love everything about it.

Suitcases are not a matching set.

As others have noted, the zippers are sketchy. Also, I ordered two of these suitcases one week apart and also ordered a larger and a smaller one at the same times. They don’t match. The colors match but suitcases do not match and are completely different material and zipper colors. So if you’re going to order more than one get them all at once.

Sadly, I had already given my old suitcase set away and my trip won’t allow me to send them all back to get a matching set. Disappointing for sure.

Does NOT TIP!!! Top opening is the best!

This thing is the BEST suitcase I have ever owned…only one that rolls completely smooth with a very heavy large bag on top…NO tipping ever! The top opening lets you fit so much more I don’t need the 21inch I was carrying. I purchased the checked bag size and it’d also amazing!!! Somehow the surface does not scuff. I’m getting this in every size…

Beautiful but SMALL CAPACITY compared to similar sized carry ons

By no doubt, it’s a beautifully constructed suitcase — but if you’re looking to get the most out of this suitcase and stuff your carry on to the max, I’d look somewhere else.

I just came back from a 4 day NYC trip in winter, where I stuffed my Samsonite carry on. After directly transferring the items in my Samsonite to my newly bought Hanke to compare their capacity, the Hanke couldn’t hold even half of the items. And there’s no chance I can access the items on the bottom if I needed.

In the attached photo, all the items still in my Samsonite suitcase (pictured left suitcase) are the items that couldn’t fit into the Hanke. It’s a huge capacity difference despite appearing to be roughly the same size carry on. It’s a shame because I really wanted a top open suitcase, but it’s not worth it to me to lose the extra space!

Nice front opening suitcase

Been looking for a front opening carry on suitcase. It came quickly and the product looks great. 4 starts because I was expecting the color to be more white than this dark creme.

Sleek, lightweight and functional

I really love this elegant carry on. It's a good size and is light weight, but sturdy. The color is a nice creamy beige which will stand out from all the dark suitcases in a classy way. I love the look of a cream colored suitcase but was hesitant because everyone knows a light color would show scuffs. But... the texture will help hide minor scuffs that may happen over time and if it does get permanent marks, I can replace it without feeling too guilty considering the reasonable price. The handle extends easily and the wheels turn smoothly. I love that it is NOT the "clam shell" design that takes up so much room when you open it. If you use a couple of packing cubes, I bet you could easily fit a week's worth of smartly chosen outfits. I thought it had a "wet pocket" inside, but it doesn't. Just two mesh pockets. This isn't a big deal to me considering TSA limits wet items you can bring anyway and I will pack those in a separate bag. It has little feet on one long side so it doesn't have to rest on the wheels if you need it to orient another way. Overall, I am very pleased and can't wait to go on my next trip!

10/10 would buy again :)

As I was hunting for a spacious carryon for my travels to Italy for two weeks, this and the Travel Pro were my top two. I didn’t want to splurge on travel pro without a good sale right before my trip so I decided to go with this one. I loved the trunk opening of this one as opposed to the clam shell. I was nervous as the price could’ve been equivalent to the quality of the item. It proved me wrong though as we navigated through the cobble streets, trains, metros, and buses of Rome, Florence, Bologna, Naples, Sorrento, and the ferry rides to and from Capri, Salerno, and Positano. Its durability and reliability amazed me. I feel I like I got my moneys worth in that trip alone. I only wheeled that and a travel backpack and was fine. You do have to pack smart but I would say that about any carry-on suitcase. The suitcase itself is light, but what you put in it obviously makes a huge difference. What I will say is, even in the last part of our trip where I put all of checked things in it and it was significantly heavier than when we arrived, it was still easy to pick up and move.

I do wish they made a 22in in this but I made do with this size just fine.

I loved this suitcase, it was good to me and I’m glad I bought it for my trip. The picture is of after its 1000+ miles of travel.

Expensive and non functional

It’s beautiful, but it won’t open and there’s no directions and there’s no way to reset the TSA lock. SPENT WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A SUITCASE. IT DOESN’T EVEN WORK.

Perfect size for medium check in but flimsy locks

Updated review July 2026 - zipper pull locks are flimsy and easily break

July 2025 - Luggage hardshell exterior survived overseas trip via Korean Air in June & July. No scratches or dents. Love the design with the top opening. Perfect check in size. Packs a lot but the size makes it easier to meet the weight requirements.

First U.S. trip via Delta - one of the lock fasteners on the check in luggage was missing after arrival. Fortunately, still able to lock with one fastener. Lost my favorite ladybug luggage tag during this trip too.

Update: July 2026 - one year later. Both locks - gone!!!! I made my 2nd overseas trip since purchase one year ago. I’ve used the case every other month for US travel the same year year.

I still love the top loading opening. My only complaint is the locks. I just returned from Korea. The luggage survived all the way back to LAX with the one beat up zipper lock. As I was lifting the luggage at baggage claims, the remaining zipper pull lock broke.

Unable to find a match. I rate the case design a 5, but the lock issue takes the rating down 2 points.

If rating the company that sells the product - ZERO support. The very least they could do is offer replacement zipper pull locks. I would be happy to purchase from them to get the ones to match.

Perfect Travel Companion – Durable, Spacious, and Effortless to Roll!

I recently used this hardshell luggage on a two-week international trip, and I couldn’t be more impressed! From the moment I packed to the moment I rolled it through multiple airports, this suitcase delivered on every front.

Comfort & Rollability: The 360-degree spinner wheels glide like a dream. Even fully packed, the suitcase moved smoothly over carpet, tile, and even cobblestones. The telescoping handle is comfortable to grip and locks in place securely. Rolling it through busy terminals was absolutely effortless.

Capacity & Roominess: Don’t let the sleek design fool you—this suitcase is incredibly roomy! The interior compartments are thoughtfully laid out, with zippered sections and compression straps that helped me stay organized. I packed enough clothes, shoes, and toiletries for two weeks with space to spare for souvenirs. My absolute favorite feature of this luggage line is the zip top in lieu of the standard clamshell design. This simple design feature saves you so much floorspace by allowing you to only unzip the lid. And I feel this feature allows me to pack more inside.

Durability: The hardshell exterior held up beautifully against rough handling by baggage handlers. No dents, cracks, or scratches—just solid protection. The zippers are sturdy, and the built-in lock added an extra layer of security for peace of mind.

And last, the value of what you get for this piece of luggage is amazing. I hunted and hunted for new luggage before my trip and researched all of the very expensive brands. Luckily I found this for a reasonable price the provides all of the features I was looking for with the durability I needed.

Overall, this luggage combines sleek style with serious functionality. Whether you're a frequent flyer or planning a big vacation, this is the suitcase you want by your side. Highly recommend!

Your stuff is safe with this bag

This bag was mangled on a recent flight to Europe. Dented, warped, one wheel looked like it was coming off and I could not stand up the bag.

So, my first thought was: cheap material.

But think again.

My husband has the identical bag and it arrived without a scratch. And judging by the damage to my bag, it had to have fallen off the trolley and run over or maybe crushed by the baggage belt system.

The bag had NOT come open despite the damage and no content was damaged or missing.

We decided to do a basic repair at home. It took 2 men and brute force to get the dents out and to straighten the frame. And guess what? The hardshell material, polycarbonate (considered the most suitable by consumer research) did not crack or break despite all this force and I could actually use the suitcase on my return flight home. Its not pretty anymore and I will replace it whenever United decides to reimburse me but I can say, your stuff is safe with this bag.

The design of this bag is so simple and yet makes so much sense. A clamshell bag takes up twice its' footprint. This bag has a lid and when open only takes up the single footprint of the bag. Genius

AND, it is lightweight and the wheels roll ever so smoothly.

I highly recommend the Hanke 24 inch and even my grouchy husband, who did not want a new suitcase, admits that this bag is amazing.

BEST Travel suitcase .

Absolutely LOVE!! So glad I purchased . I didn’t know how easy traveling was until I pushed this through several airports this week.

Great carry on!

I spent a rather unhealthy amount of time searching for a new carry on that would fit my needs for both air and car travel. I needed something that was roomy but still carry-on approved, and of course, sturdy enough to handle TSA and uneven terrain. Tried it out on my most recent flight to NYC and it worked really well!

DESIGN: I love the color and classy appearance. The grey-blue is bright enough to stand out but nothing too bright/neon. I wanted something that would not scuff easily and the textured design really helps hide any scratches it may ever accumulate. I had to gate-check it twice due to available space on the plane and it arrived to both destinations without any damage. There were a few black scuff marks but I was able to wipe those away with my thumb. There isn’t any reinforcement on the corners. Wheel side should hold up fine, but particularly the bottom corners could potentially be problematic if not packed right. I may reinforce them myself at some point, but they’ve held up so far. The metal reinforcement around the main body of the suitcase is a nice touch for durability and the material is strong enough on the sides where there’s not a lot of give but enough to where it’s not too rigid. The telescope handle does not take up much space on the inside, about an inch, and the lining is loose enough so I could pack smaller clothes between the bars without issue. The interior pockets on the top panel do not take up space in the main packing area based on zipper design. I love the waterproof pocket as well. They’re not particularly big, but smaller items or a swimsuit can still fit nicely. Since the top panel does not take up space in the main compartment (something that laptop compartments often do) I was able to utilize that space to toss my jacket or raincoat on top and still zip it up easily (without sitting on it!)

SPACE: The major selling point was of course the top-open design. I don’t think I could ever go back to a clam-shell hard case again. It worked great in the small hotel room, fit beautifully on the luggage wrack, and was a game-changer when I needed to open it up in the airport to toss my jacket inside. My toiletry bag is on the bigger side and fit great with plenty of room to stack clothes and other things. I’m an over-packer and had plenty of room for a 3-day trip. I was able to fit my toiletry bag, first-aid bag, small purse, 4+ days of clothes, 2 pairs of shoes (heels and boots!), curling iron, and raincoat with some room to spare. I used a small vacuum-seal bag for pants, a dress, and a sweater and folded up, it fit well inside.

WHEELS/MANEUVERABILITY: This thing glides so smoothly on flat surfaces. Thicker carpet is manageable even with a backpack on top, and without the backpack it rolls great. It held up well on escalators/flat escalators with no issues getting on or off with my backpack on it. Rough terrain like cobblestone would probably require it to be pulled behind you, but I’m not concerned about the wheels holding up on such surfaces.

MISC: YKK zippers on the outside held up nicely. The TSA lock was easy to change and worked well. I like how it’s located on the top as I feel like that’s less likely to get damaged. Of course, if someone really wanted to get into your bag they could, but it’s a nice touch. Weight is pretty standard for a carry on. I was able to lift it into the TSA bins easily.

CONS: While there are not any major issues with this suitcase, I gave it 4 stars mainly for the handle design and lack of bottom handle by the wheels. The handlebar is not seamless with the telescope rods which could potentially be problematic when taking off any bag with a built-in luggage strap. It has quite an edge to it that is manageable but not when needing to remove a bag quickly. My backpack has a detachable strap I use to wrap around the handle, but for someone with a strap flush to their bag it could be a deal-breaker. There isn’t an additional grab handle on the bottom by the wheels, so moving it into the overhead bins, TSA bins, car, etc. is a little awkward and you kinda have to hold onto the wheels which isn’t the most user-friendly. If there was one thing that I would absolutely change about this suitcase, it would be to add an additional handle on the bottom. The compression straps on the inside of the bag could be a little longer, and they’re also attached unevenly which has its pros and cons. For one, the attachments utilize areas already inside of the suitcase so there’s no additional hardware taking up space, and it may help a little bit more compression-wise, but at the same time the one side is really easy to lose if you’re not careful when packing. I had to unpack once to retrieve the strap. The straps that prop the top panel up are also quite long, which is nice if you want to lay the panel flat, but since there are clips to detach it, the length is a bit overkill and just got in the way when zipping it up. I may just cut them shorter at some point.

Overall, I’m really happy with this suitcase and am excited to use it on future trips!

Lucky Extra Surprise, Love the Trunk-Style!

Luggage arrived with the wheels pre-used? Which is a little annoying. However… I’m not sure if I’m the only one that: inside the suitcase I found a 6-pack of pink bagsmart compression packing cubes! Must have been a return and someone left me a little gift 💖 my lucky day, especially as a 2025 bride doing lots of travel! This year im a bridesmaid too. Thank you kind stranger! Normally I am a “checked bag” person, I’ve never had carry on luggage, so not sure what to compare it to. But the lift-top trunk style is awesome!

Can’t wait to “give it a spin” on my upcoming travels. Let’s see how it holds up!

Perfect for travel!

I loveee the green color as it won’t show any blemishes it might get along the way! You can seriously fit so much in here, especially if you use packing cubes. This works well when you are traveling and you don’t have a ton of space in your room because you can just open the lid instead of having to fold open a normal suit case. The handle is super sturdy and can handle rocky European streets. This is my favorite carry on I own!

Very well made, fits in over-head bin of Delta Connection's CRJ-900, and NOT a clam shell design

I’ve always had a small carry-on for short trips and the largest allowed carry-on for longer ones. But the larger one did not fit in Delta’s Canada Regional Jets a.k.a., CRJ900 (much smaller over-head bins). This 20” carry-on is just slightly smaller than my other one, but it fits in the CRJ over-head bins. As for what I can fit inside…. I really have not had to leave something behind because it didn’t fit (when compared to my other slightly larger carry-on).

Looks: It is actually quite stylish, I think. The grayish-blue (or blueish-gray) tone is nice.

Function: I hate the “clam shell” luggage. You have to be careful when closing/opening a lid that holds half of your clothes. If it has a full divider that zips closed, then that's "less bad". But you are still closing a heavy lid. I did not want a fabric/canvas one, even though those have a top-lid design. I searched and searched for hard shell luggage (both online and at local stores). All I kept finding was the dreaded clam shell design. I finally found this one which has a hard shell (well, not fabric/canvas, but flexible polycarbonate PC material) AND a top-lid design. GREAT!!!! The lid also includes straps that keep it from going all the way over (a nice touch). You can unhook these straps, if you want. It includes the TSA lock. That being said, the combination wheel looks flimsy. But that may be deceiving. Time will tell. I have not seen any review stating any problems with it. So maybe it’s just my wrong impression. The wheels work VERY well. My home airport has carpet, which I hate. Many times, I tilt my 4-wheel carry-on on 2 wheels and pull it like the older luggage because the wheels don’t roll well on carpet. But WOW…. The wheels on this one work very well on carpet (my other carry-on is a Samsonite, and the wheels on this one work much better). The retractable handle does not take up much space on the inside, and the lining is loose enough so I can pack smaller clothes between the bars without issue.

Durability: This luggage includes an aluminum reinforcement ring/frame, which not only adds strength to it, but adds another stylish touch. This is my first polycarbonate PC luggage, so I cannot yet attest to the durability of the material. But it is supposed to be strong, and so much luggage is made of this material these days, so I’m not worried. I remember seeing a video of someone sitting on it, showing its strength. So I tried it. I sat on it while waiting for my flight (about 175 lbs.). No damage.

Measurements: Interior dimensions are 18.5" long, 14" wide, and 8" tall (see where the measuring tape bends in the attached pictures). The lid adds one more inch to the height for a total of 9" interior height. Exterior dimensions, including wheels and handles, are 22", 15", and 9.75". This carry-on is just slightly smaller than my "largest allowed" Samsonite carry-on. But it fit in the Delta Connection CRJ-900 over-head bin (the largest allowed carry-on does not fit, which is why I bought this one).

Negatives: Nothing is perfect. But the negatives for this luggage are so minor, I almost gave it 5 stars, regardless. But then decided on 4 stars because, though minor, it has negatives. #1, It lacks a handle at the bottom (by the wheels). I use that handle a LOT with my other suitcases. You can pick up the suitcase by both the top and bottom handles for a quick move without having to zip up the lid. #2, The handles are not centered. I imagine this is because of the aluminum reinforcement ring. But with the right design, you can have the aluminum ring AND handles that are centered. Off-centered handles make it hang awkwardly when picked up. #3, The retractable/telescoping handle is too wide. My backpack has a strap that is designed to go over the handle so that the backpack rests on the suitcase and does not fall over. But with such a wide handle, I have a hard time getting the backpack strap over it.

Overall, I am very pleased with this suitcase. My larger 26” canvas check-in suitcase ripped during my last trip (I had it for maybe 15-20 years). So now I’m looking to replace it with the 26” version of this one. So yes…. I am quite pleased with it.

Lasted a year and half

It was good for a year and half, maybe 10 trips with 8 flying (check in not carry on). I really liked this suitcase! But the morning of our most recent trip the zipper broke and all my stuff fell out. I had to move all my stuff to another luggage 5 minutes before my Uber arrived. Thankfully it didn’t happy during transit. My husband’s (an identical one bought at the same time) also nearly broke on the last day of our recent trip. I had to ask the airline to give me a big plastic bag to put the luggage in so it doesn’t fall apart in the middle of the flight! Now I have to replace both :(

rooney & co

Very nice bag

This bag stood out the most to me because of the top of the bag that’s just a flap instead of a full clamshell. It seems well made, very roomy on the inside. I got the 20” inch version, taking it on American Airlines and United. I’ll report back how it holds up. It’s very cute!

Update: Was able to carry it on with me on both American and United Airlines. The material on the outside is a bit scratched up, but not bad. Rolls really nicely through airports. Make sure you use compression cubes or bags because there isn’t a ton of room. I was able to pack a weeks worth of clothes, but it wasn’t easy because I’m an overpacker. Make sure you put your toiletries in clear plastic bags- I had 3 small bags for my skincare, hair care, and makeup. I didn’t place any valuables in here obviously, so not sure how a laptop or anything would do in here.

Love, Love, LOVE IT!!!

Man, I was watching this suitcase in my shopping list just hoping for a deal and really hoping they would add more colors! I was soooo happy to see that they finally did! I LOVE this color green!! The front open design is amazing! I hate the clamshell designs and it's always prevented me from purchasing hard sided luggage. This seems to be well made and the wheels roll effortlessly. I'm not sure how I feel about the zippers yet. They're like a curvy design that I don't love and I also wish that they (the TSA lock) were on the side on the bag, instead of the top. I may just end up using my own TSA luggage locks, instead of the built in ones. Especially since I prefer the 4 digit locks anyways.

I really hope this luggage stands the test of time and that the wheels, zippers and case itself really hold up for a long time! So far I would highly recommend this luggage set!

26” Perfect for my four day trip

Many years ago, I used the suitcases that had the top top open and the deep compartment, like this one. When the new style came out where you unzipped the suitcase and you had two deep pockets, I began using those. I decided to go back to this one, and I prefer it.

1. The open top with one deep compartment is easier to find a place in the hotel or Airbnb room To keep without taking up too much space.

2. I was able to pack inside of it one pair of booties, cosmetic bag, toiletry bag, electronics bag, hair, accessories, bag, clothes for four days, and my winter trench coat.

The only negative I have is that upon my return from my trip I noticed the zipper was broke. I did check my luggage in at the airport, so I am wondering if the zipper snagged on something based on the way that it is broken. I was able to unzip it and get it back on track, but now I’m nervous about checking it in at an airport and the zipper busting and the contents falling out. I will use it on my next road trip and update here when I return.

Handled everything that was thrown at it

UPDATE: 6/2/2026

We have now put this luggage through the wringer (and the airlines have had a hard go at them too, trust me) and I have to say these are the single best suitcases we have ever owned. Our last trip we took five flights and the airlines did manage to put a a dent in one suitcase's side, where the aluminum runs (see picture), but the case kept everything inside safe and it opens and closes without any issue. I was already able to get the dent out from the inside.

We got white so it would stand out on the carousel which means plenty of visible scuffs and scrapes, but who cares? I have found nothing survives airline luggage handlers for long anyway. The photos are to show you how little damage these cases took after eight countries, plenty of cobblestone paths, and numerous luggage handlers.

We have transported glass bottles and ceramics in these cases and came home with everything intact. The zippers and the locks continue to work well. The wheels roll along as good as the day we bought the luggage. This past trip I I didn't see a storm drain opening and one wheel went right into it with a full suitcase (46 pounds); if that hard stop isn't going to take a wheel off, I don't think anything will.

We now own three- 2 for checked luggage, and one carry-on. I lead overseas trips and rarely recommend luggage (I don't want to be blamed if something fails on a trip) but I have actually been sharing the link to these suitcases with my groups.

Previous review:

I wanted to wait until we had a major trip before writing a review. We completed a 22-day trip overseas and this luggage handled spectacularly. Here is a breakdown of what we wanted, and how it performed:

Hard shell that won't crack or dent- I literally tripped trying to get both mine and my wife's suitcases onto a shinkansen (bullet train) and drove my knee with 190 pounds behind it right into the the center of one suitcase. Nothing. No damage at all.

Wheels that move and don't break- Japan has yellow raised textures on the sidewalks for the visually impaired throughout the cities, it can can play merry havoc with suitcase wheels. These wheels danced right over them and always stayed on track. On smooth surfaces the suitcases felt like they were floating. Side note: Put the suitcase on its side when on a train or hill, if you cannot hold on to it or lock a wheel in with your foot, the suitcase will take off on you!

Zipper: So far, so good. Easy to use, didn't get stuck, and didn't come open.

Lock and zipper pull-tabs: the built in lock is nice, but I know just how rough airlines are, almost all of my past suitcases have had zipper tabs ripped off. I used a suitcase cover to ensure these were protected. I wish the company had a little bump-out on either side of the zipper lock so that the zipper pulls would be better protected, but we had no issues.

FRONT OPENING!!: This was a really big deal for us. We wanted hard shell, but I hate the clam-shell designs that are everywhere. Hanke got it! It worked perfectly. So happy with how this functioned. We had a Delsey, front opening suitcase, and the zipper really could not handle the corners, just not a good design. The zippers failed too quickly, which was a shame, because otherwise Delsey makes a good bag.

Handle: So comfortable and easy to adjust. I like a recessed button so that I am not constantly changing the handle height accidentally (looking at you Samsonite).

Size: We got the 26-inch and thought it was overkill, but we wanted a slightly larger checked bag because there is no option to expand this suitcase. We left for Japan with half-empty bags, and they were packed when we came home. It was relaxing not worrying about organizing and space for the return, we just shoved everything in, and still came in under weight. Again, it was a longer trip, and we picked up some nice ceramics on our travels (nothing broke on the way home, the hard-shell did its job!) but maybe a smaller one for week-long trips.

Hard-shell and color: Let's face it, white is going to show everything, but I'd rather be able to pick my suitcase out at luggage return and the suitcase covers not only protected the zipper pulls, but kept the scuff marks off the luggage. The luggage was strong! Very strong.

Overall: I have to say, with a few domestic trips, and its first international under its belt, these suitcases have proven to be the best we have had in ages. At this price-point, I have not had anything perform as well- and I have gone through a few! I have been so frustrated with wheels that don't track, handles that break, zippers that fail, or soft-shells that look like box cutters were taken to them during loading.

Let's put it this way, even if the wheels had broken off, I would buy this suitcase again. We brutalized the luggage this trip, and it took it all. I fully expected something to break at some point, just the fact that it didn't has made me a fan.

Lightweight, convenient, super-sturdy yet spacious

I had been looking for a replacement to my disheveled 15 year old (and relatively heavy at 12 lbs) Briggs & Riley soft carryon and was really kicked about discovering this piece. Wanted to get a decent yet inexpensive hardcase but everything else looked either too flimsy, too heavy, not really 22x14x9 (this one is pretty close) or that awful clamshell design (which is why I had stuck to soft cases up until now). Not only was it quite light for its polycarbonate design (see pics), but it is super-sleek looking, moves like silk, really sturdy in feel and form and overall pretty spacious for its size. I haven't used it as a check-in yet, but it works really well in the overhead carryon bins - easy to lift and get in or out, and glides smoothly when getting in and out of the plane. It has two small pockets for wet & dry laundry and nothing superfluous. The two TSA latches work really well.

I like this carryon and its overall design so much that I'm considering getting one of the larger check-ins next. I see that the carryon price has come down by a few bucks since I purchased it for 175, so I'd say this is a terrific bargain, well worth it, especially compared to the more expensive name-brand clamshells with unnecessary bells and whistles.

Pros: everything

Cons: nothing

Poorly Quality & Even Poorer Customer Service

If you were attracted to this suitcase because of its chic look and claims of durability, I urge you to save your money and look elsewhere. I unfortunately took the chance and spent good money on this bag only to have it look like someone used it to skateboard down the street after just one flight (didn’t even make it through an entire trip). The “scratch-resistant” claims, are completely false. Upon retrieving my bag after the flight, one of my zippers was completely gone (both pieces of the zipper, like it was never even there), the edges were frayed, and it was all scratched and banged up, where in many areas, the silver base material was showing through. Again, this was after ONE flight.

But I think the most disappointing part about my experience was that when I reached out to the seller about my issues and request a replacement, he told me to try wiping the luggage with a cloth (as if I hadn’t tried that already) and the scratches would go away. Clearly, that didn’t work. Then the most he offered me was a discount on another purchase or to send me a replacement zipper. A ZIPPER?!? Oh, and I would have to be responsible for finding (and paying) the repair shop to put the zipper back on the bag. Wow. Who wants a replacement zipper anyway, if the rest of my brand new suitcase still looks like trash? After much time spent going back and forth, the seller refused to send me a replacement bag and literally just stopped replying to my messages. How’s that for customer service? Needless to say, I will NEVER waste my money on these company’s faulty products again and unless you’re looking for a one-time use only suitcase, I encourage you to do the same and avoid the headache.

Easy to stuff full; lightweight and durable

We are a military family, so we not only travel a lot, but move often. I have tried a LOT of luggage, and tend to be very particular about carry-ons especially. This 20 inch carry-on is awesome. The top zippered opening means that a lot more can be stuffed into this suitcase than one that opens in the middle (see my video). It works really well with packing cubes. The handle (which I find to be the weak point on most rolling luggage, even the more expensive brands) is sturdy and not wobbly; this is especially important to me as I always use the handle of my rolling carryon to attach my personal item (generally a HEAVY backpack). The handle locks at four different heights (I mistakenly say three in my video), so none of my family has to hunch to roll it, or struggle with the handle being too tall. The wheels roll smoothly, change directions easily, and do not "lock up". There are adjustable straps inside the opening of the suitcase and two zippered pockets (one of which can hold wet items), and a small zippered pocket plus compression straps for the interior. The suitcase has a combination lock (TSA approved).

I LOVE the "ivory white" color, which is very distinctive and was easy to spot on the luggage carousel after we were forced to gate-check this carryon. It survived luggage handling with only one minor scuff mark, so I was impressed.

Overall, my husband and I are very happy with this sturdy, roomy, well-made piece of luggage, and I would not hesitate to order it again. I would recommend this carryon.

Beautiful Top Zip (not clamshell) Hardside Luggage

Wow! LOVE at first sight!

I travel a lot and always have luggage envy and I’ve been struggling to find “non-clamshell” hard side luggage for years, and I just found my match.

I hate clamshell luggage and could never bring myself to buy those other brands.

No more luggage envy for me now!

This luggage is beautiful. Sophisticated and professional! The perfect ivory color! So light weight. NO weird petrochemical smell!! Wheels glide well on wood floors at home!

I bought both sizes. 20 & 24.

I LOVE that the handles pull up to same height on both the 24 checked price and and 20 carryon, makes them easy to roll together with one hand.

🥰🥰

Customer service was super fast to respond and notified me when I inquired about when the 20” would be in back in stock

& they shipped FAST!!

Only negative is… I thought they were expandable. They aren’t, that’s ok. I’ll make do. I need to pack less anyway. Lol!

I can’t wait to go on my first trip and see how they perform.

Love 5 stars!

FANTASTIC, quality suitcase with great spinners

Recently, both of my softside suitcases came off of planes (separately) with the pull-up handles broken. So I decided it was time to try a hardside suitcase. I'm really happy that I chose this one.

This suitcase is attractive and looks very sleek. The silver detailing down the sides makes it look like it opens in the middle like most hardside cases (but is actually there to be reinforcing), while this one has the packing benefit of a lid that opens along the top. Opening along the top makes it seem like I can fit a lot more items compared to using a split open suitcase - so I like that design a lot. I ordered the black, and the finish is very nice - although to me, it is much shinier in person than it looks in photos. I think the product page photos look almost matte, but it's actually quite shiny. I may have chosen the ivory if I knew it was this shiny. Still, the black looks very nice.

The spinner wheels are 360 degrees, and roll and turn incredibly easy, even when the suitcase is packed with my stuff. The suitcase has convenient straps that keep the lid from falling open all the way (but that can be easily undone if that's what you want). The pull-up handle works easily, and has an option to lock it in place about halfway up. I also really like that the lock is a TSA lock so I can secure my luggage from anyone who shouldn't be able to open it, while knowing that TSA can open it without damaging my bag. I also like that I was able to change the combination to something easy for me to remember. The bag is relatively light-weight (I can easily lift it with one hand when empty).

I will be taking this bag on a month-long international tour very soon. If it doesn't hold up for my entire trip for any reason, I will be sure to update this review - but given the apparent quality, I'm hopeful.

Ease of use and capacity of a soft side suitcase

Hanke Carry On Luggage with the top load is exactly as it claims for it's design that has benefits like that of soft sided suitcases. There is one full compartment for all your belongings and just a flap cover for some small items. The carry on case measures 8 deep, 19" long and 14" wide. I can stuff it fully and close the cover. The long thin zippers click into the locking latch for security and for longevity of the zipper pulls if this case has to be checked in and run through a conveyer. The zipper pull springs out when depressing the unlock button for the 3 digit combination lock. The handles have 4 different heights for different family members. The thin dual wheels do spin and slide easily.

My only dislike is the wheels seem pretty thin and have large gaps in between. I prefer thicker wheels or even a large center wheel.

Overall I love this Hanke design carry on for a hard spinner suitcase.
