Leveled up from original Hatch

I leveled up from my original Hatch because I loved it so much, I wanted to try the new Restore and it did not disappoint. The light and speaker are great quality and it gently wakes me up so my cortisol doesn’t shoot up first thing in the morning. It’s been great to ease into waking up earlier.

Disagree with bad reviews

Love the product very easy to control. I disagree with the people saying about stuff for the sounds and a payment fee. Because there are so many good free sounds and I wake up so more peacefully especially this product is very handy for school. Not sure about the battery life just keep it plugged in and you’re good battery. Life is amazing. I love the brightness because you can control how low or bright you want it. The lighting is amazing. You can customize what colors you want very easy to control haven’t had a problem with this product

The warm torchlight of my night

I woke at 3:17 a.m. absolutely convinced I’d been teleported into a rainforest. My sheets clung to me like they’d developed attachment issues.

As I sat there contemplating whether humans could, in fact, spontaneously become soup, a soft amber glow emerged from my Hatch Restore 3. It didn’t interrogate me. It didn’t blast me with an alarm that sounded like a forklift backing into a dumpster. It simply existed, radiating the calm confidence of something that had seen this exact sweaty nonsense before.

It’s gentle sounds slowly pulled my brain away from the feeling of being in an aquarium. I changed into a dry shirt, drank some water, and crawled back into bed. Within minutes I was asleep again.

Since getting the Hatch Restore 3, waking up has become strangely civilized. The sunrise alarm feels more like nature filing the proper paperwork instead of my phone launching a surprise attack on my nervous system. The sound quality is fantastic, the routines are easy to customize, and somehow the whole thing makes my bedroom feel less like a charging station and more like a place meant for rest and recoup. I also love its little unique shaped rubber feet!

Would it prevent me from waking up looking like I’d just completed a marathon inside a sauna? Apparently not. But it handled the aftermath with such quiet dignity that I almost felt bad for dragging it into my midnight swamp adventure.

Five stars. The Hatch Restore 3 may not control the weather inside my pajamas, but it made recovering from it unexpectedly peaceful.

Amazing for sleep quality!

I love this so much. The audio quality is phenomenal and helps me relax and fall asleep and stay asleep better than ever. The sunrise lighting feature wakes me up perfectly. I happen to wake up before the actual noise goes off.

Minimalist All-In-One Alarm Clock with a Catch

All in one sound machine and alarm clock that looks great on your nightstand. What I Love - The design is minimalistic and more attractive than any other sound machine I looked at. Compact size but big enough to add ambient light and read the time. Sound quality is good. The alarm and sunrise feature wake me up. Alarm sounds are much better than my anxiety-provoking phone alarm. What Could be Better - Really disappointed that the sound machine requires a subscription based app. There are free sounds available, however, for the cost of the unit it’s aggravating to have to pay an extra monthly fee to access all of the features. I debated returning it for this reason, but decided against it due to finding a sleeping routine I liked and the cost/space required to buy other separate products that had the same functionality. Also, for those of you looking for a purely “phone free” solution you may want to look elsewhere. It’s possible to set-up your routine once in the app and then start the routine each night without your phone straight from the clock, however, any modifications to the routine or alarm time do require you to access the app through your phone. Finally, the sound is good but not as clear as dedicated sound machines we’ve had in the past.

Very Satisfied with my Hatch 3

I chose the Cocoa color and was happy to find that the color matched my nightstand. I’ve been able to use the sleep and rise features for the last week and it has improved my quality of sleep. I would recommend this product to someone looking for a premium way of improving their daily life. If you own premium bedding, pillows, and lighting, the Hatch 3 is a no-brainer addition.

The Good:

The product has a very nice surface feel and weight. The buttons and sliders have a nice tactile feel and I find myself fidgeting with them sometimes. It’s a pretty decent size comparable to most bedside alarm clocks.

Its lights are controllable and can be very bright. Its speaker is also controllable and can get very loud if needed. I am a heavy sleeper and the “birds” wake up noise had no problem getting me awake.

It has a wide variety of colors and prebuilt music, white noise, alarms and short stories. This is all done through the app.

What I wish it had also:

While the Hatch 3 runs through the app, I would’ve liked ways to play my own music or use it easier without my phone. You can use the buttons to change between premade combinations but sometimes I would’ve liked to use it as a bedside speaker or nightlight without using the app.

Overall I am happy with my purchase. It is well made and improves my quality of life. Attached are photos of the hatch in bedside mode, color mode, lights and noise at night, the box, a rough size comparison to my hands(I have large hands) and some screenshots of the app.

I highly recommend!

I’m a stay at home mom of two toddlers, so by the end of the day I’m usually overstimulated and pretty exhausted. For me, the Hatch Restore 3 has honestly been such a helpful part of my nighttime routine. It helps me slow down, regulate my nervous system, also transition out of the stress of the day in a way that feels gentle and peaceful.

I’ve also noticed my mood at night feels calmer and I fall asleep feeling much more settled. I love that it helps create a peaceful bedtime environment without me having to rely on my phone, which is a huge plus for me.

I highly recommend!

Convenient Purchase

My experience has been quite good overall! I've been using the Hatch 3 for a few weeks now as my daily alarm as well a replacement for my bedside lamp, and it has been overall functional.

I've had a few days where I don't wake up to the hatch alarm - I think I'm still adjusting to the ringer as opposed to my iPhone ringer, but nothing too serious as I set backup alarms. I've been enjoying the alarm options from motivational speeches to nature sounds (although those are quite soft). One feature I wish would be implemented would be the option for the light to remain on after turning off the alarm in the morning. Being in the dark again after waking up is too easy for me to fall back asleep.

With a secondary function as a bedside lamp, it provide me with an ample amount of brightness for pre-bedtime doomscrolling. I also enjoy the winddown audios, especially the seaside noises. The ability to change the color of the light depending on my mood is also quite pleasant, although I wish there was a dial on the clock itself to switch the color rather than in the lamp.

I think overall I wish the clock itself had more functionality without needing to use the app. If I had a night routine without my phone, it would be nice to be able to set alarms, adjust brightness, and change lamp colors not via the app, as that would disrupt my winddown.

Helps a lot but high price

The alarm clock is nice, it takes time to get adjusted to it, it wakes you up gradually untill you set the alarm at a specific time, the sound is nice and the light is actually pretty strong. Turning the light towards me made a big difference like others said. Its better fitted for a single person since it might annoy the other person, wife hasn't complained about it, just the light once. I give it 8 out of 10 but not worth 200, probaly 100 to 120$ . Ive been waking up earlier and feeling way better waking .

A game changer for your morning and night routine

The Restore 3 is a game changer. I went from using the Apple phone alarms for years and finally made the switch to Hatch and it has already made such a difference in my mornings. Gently waking up to the sound of birds chirping compared to a blaring alarm has made it so much easier to start the day. Also the sunrise feature is so nice especially if you need to wake up when it’s still dark out or you have black out curtains. It actually helps you wake up and stay awake instead of snoozing and going right back to sleep. It was super easy to set up using the app and is totally customizable. There are so many content options to listen to before bed - I’ve really liked trying out the sound baths. I also love all of the different color light features you can use to add ambiance to your room at night. Plus the design is sleek and looks great on your nightstand. Highly recommend investing in a Hatch alarm clock!

Genuinely calming wake up clock!

I absolutely love my Hatch. It has quickly become one of my favorite purchases because it is so soothing and easy to use.

The sound options are great and feel genuinely calming. I also really like the ability to set up stepwise routines, which makes winding down at night and waking up in the morning feel much more natural.

The light works really well for reading, offering a soft but clear glow that is easy on the eyes. It also blends in beautifully with my interior and looks clean and minimal on my nightstand.

Overall, this is a thoughtful and relaxing addition to my space and I highly recommend it.

Best sleep I’ve gotten in years!

The Hatch Restore 3 is an incredible product, that has changed my nighttime routine and improved my mornings. I don’t want to include too many superlatives, but it has changed my life.

The setup experience is where it all starts. After downloading the app, it was incredibly simple to put together a nighttime routine that matched my sleep goals. The hatch app asks a handful of questions (when do you want to go to sleep? Why are you looking to change your habits? Etc.) The entire setup takes less the 5 minutes and the app creates a tailored plan to help you achieve your goals.

Once setup, you’re off to (sleep) races. It’s easy to navigate from the wind down phase of your plan to the sleep portion by easily tapping the button on top of the speaker. My plan included first a reading light (since I wanted to spend more time reading before bed) and then 8 hours of “Malibu Ocean”. The sound on the device is crisp and soothing, and it’s easy to quickly adjust the sound by turning the same button on top.

I’ve also played a few of the wind down stories (hound of the Baskerville!) and the sound quality is too notch.

The reading light is easily adjustable via the Hatch app as well. There’s a few options for reading lights - or you can adjust to any number of different colors with a couple of button taps. I’ve moved my lamp off my bedside table because I much prefer the reading light in the Hatch 3.

The clock works well too - because it’s connected to your device there’s no changing time for daylight savings etc. It’s also super easy to choose when you want the clock to display and when you want to hide it.

Bottom line - I was skeptical that this was the device that could get me to move my phone to another room at night. I was wrong. I’m feeling more rested then ever, I’ve been freed from my nighttime doom scroll and instead have started reading, and I’m getting up on time and ready to face the day.

5 stars - I’m gonna need another one for my husband’s side of the bed too.

Alice

Extremely scientifically effective sleep inducement and conclusion machine

I was skeptical but as a working professional in finance this was well worth the investment.

Several observations:

* As I suspected it wasn't super effective in getting me to sleep earlier as I'm a habitual night owl and my own lifestyle isn't changed by a little blue light and calming sounds from the device.

* However, the wind-down at night is so soothing, pleasant and spa-like I actually look forward to going to bed (ironically, I wind down by being on my phone for 30 minutes before bed still while the Hatch plays) and thus end up sleeping sooner most days anyway

* The BIGGEST ROI from this device come from the sleeping and waking phases:

- the white noise is noticeably more effective for putting me to sleep FAST than either the a) manual white noise machine I previously had with a mechanical fan; and b) the air purifier I used as a white noise machine. I used to rely on melatonin pills and blackout curtains to put myself to sleep fast when I needed to work late and wake early. I now have normal blinds, no blackout curtains, and have 0% need for anything besides my hatch. I'm convinced hatch specifically engineers their white noise for basically sedating you. I'm genuinely impressed.

- waking up is legitimately and genuinely gentle and soothing to the point where again, I am convinced hatch must do dedicated research to specifically engineer their sounds to wake you from sleep, even deep sleep, with a gentleness that no other generic alarm clock on the market can match.

I considered the Loftie because for me the sounds are the differentiator in preparing, inducing and waking from sleep; however the ambient light of the Hatch, while not the main mechanism, complements the sounds highly effectively for a more "enveloping" sensory experience that again, I am convinced scientifically is more effective for inducing, quickening, and gently ending sleep.

And you don't need to be a scientist to realize that.

Do I think this level of refinement in sleep experience is necessary for the average person? No, a normal alarm clock should be fine for most people. But if you're someone where the 5% difference in sleep efficiency and quality actually matters (wish I wasn't), this device brings you past that 5% threshold into sleep optimization.

Very well designed, app needed

Pros

*so pretty, very nice quality

*packaging and experience are very elevated - great for a gift

*easy to setup - you need to download an app and asetup an account, but it was very quick

*wide range of very nice sounds, meditations, podcast, etc available with subscription. Still a lot available without subscription. You can see the list on the website

*sunrise alarm is very nice and soothing

*all the lighting options are beautiful and there's a huge variety of options

*the control buttons are simpliedf and well designed so you don't have to use the app to regularly control it, but you need the app to set what all the buttons do

Cons

*the one I received had a small flaw on the fabric.

*you have to sign up for the free trial to even use the machine. you can immediately cancel it, but you can't NOT sign up and see what it offers without the subscription

can't stream your own meditations, music, etc. must use app. Many of the options and features are only available with subscription

Loving using this at college

My Hatch has been such an awesome addition to my college apartment!! It wakes me up with personalized sounds and lights that have helped with my bad habit of snoozing the alarm over and over. And, I didn’t even know it did this when purchasing, but it also has a nighttime routine feature where you can play meditations, music, or other sounds to help you relax and fall asleep. The clock itself just has 3 simple buttons on it but way more controls are available in the app which is also super user friendly. I’ve loved checking out all the features it has and am literally making my perfect nighttime and morning routines

The Ultimate Sleep Sanctuary Upgrade

Finally, an alarm clock that doesn't feel like a jump-scare for my brain! The biggest win for the Hatch is how it helps you stay off your phone before bed. You can program a "Wind Down" routine. For example: 20 minutes of warm "Campfire" light while you read, followed by a switch to "Brown Noise" with the light turning off entirely. Consistency: Because the routine is automated, it cues your brain that it’s time for sleep. It’s "habit-stacking" made easy. Sunrise Simulation: You can set the light to begin brightening 5–60 minutes before your actual alarm sounds. It transitions through soft reds and oranges to a bright, morning yellow, signaling your body to naturally suppress melatonin. Additional things I loved: Beautiful, high-quality linen design. Highly customizable sunrise/sunset durations. Excellent sound quality with three internal speakers. Promotes a phone-free bedroom environment. The clock is Network-Synced. It pulls time via Wi-Fi, ensuring it's always accurate to the second and handles Daylight Savings automatically. It's also compact enough for any nightstand

While it is an investment, the base features are more than enough to transform your sleep. It’s a 5-star product for anyone who struggles with morning grogginess or late-night scrolling.

If you feel groggy waking up without natural sunlight, this is for you!

My friend recommended the Hatch Restore 3 to when we were talking about sleep and morning routines I knew my sleep issues started the second I moved into my new apartment. The problem was my bedroom currently doesn’t have a window positioned in a way that lets sunlight in, so I stopped waking up to natural light completely. I live in an apartment, so I had another year to face before I could see about getting a bedroom with a window inside of it! Not waking up to sunlight affected me more than I expected (think oversleeping 3 separate alarms, waking up at noon having to explain to my boss why I’m running late which caused me to work later in the day, and not being able to plan my days ahead accordingly since it was a gamble whether I’d wake up on time at all). My mornings felt heavy and disoriented. I tried everything. Different alarms. Changing my bedtime. Phone apps. Nothing really fixed the root issue, and it was making me miserable.

I finally decided to try the Hatch after my friend’s recommendation, since I had nothing more to lose at that point, and I’m so glad I did. The first night, I noticed a near immediate difference. It made me appreciate how pleasant it is waking up to a gradual sunrise. It truly feels natural and calm instead of the three separate alarms I used (my phone, my Google Home Hub, my iPad) that were apparently still not enough from me sleeping through them, or turning them off and falling right back to sleep. My mornings started to feel calm instead of aggressive, and I was afraid it was going to be the classic placebo effect, and I kept waiting for my new routine to suddenly stop working. But it didn’t. The past few weeks, I feel like my true self again. Waking up to own the day, instead of it owning me.

I really like the different light and sound settings, they bring a uniqueness to your morning and night time routines, and it also includes an ‘unwind’ routine. The app took a little time getting used to—likely my one minor complaint—as it is not configured in a familiar way to other apps. It doesn’t feel as intuitive as the options it allows you to explore within it. For one, I do wish it had an automatic-play button when going through different sound settings and playlists, since the slight delay of choosing whether to play the sound on your Hatch or on your phone to test does feel like it eats up time initially when creating your routines. But after you get your routines setup, it’s smooth sailing from there!

The wind down feature is probably my favorite part. The playlists in the app are so good, and being able to tailor the routine to what I need that night makes it feel personal, not generic. It has such cute and endearing aspects too, such as playlists catered to stories from familiar classics. The design of the device is cute and subtle, it blends right into to any space you place it in. I WFH, so sometimes I’ll unplug it and bring it with me to my desk out in the living room to play different playlists on it or use the light feature. It helps me stay relaxed.

Overall, It’s simple, aesthetic, and it genuinely improved my relationship with sleep. If you’re somehow who seemingly has issues waking up without natural sunlight, I highly recommend giving the Hatch Restore 3 a chance.

Read this if you’re on the fence (and to understand the bad reviews)

I was so on the fence about purchasing this. I don’t think they advertise enough about the bedtime routines and how great they are via app. There’s a 3 part (optional 4th part) nighttime/daytime routine that you customize with the app and each part has a sound, volume and light option. It starts with a cue to wind down set at a daily time which I love. It plays soft music and a soft warm light to remind me it’s time to get ready for bed. You can do a next part which is it adds a meditation/wind down sound after you push the button but I turn this off. The third part is white noise (also optional) and I have mine set on “bedroom fan” on volume 70. I love that it saves the volume and is the same every night and same with the different parts of the routine. I can have my wind down low volume and white noise high or whatever you want. For the alarm clock it does a sunrise that you can program to start slowly turning on up to an hour before your alarm goes up with sound. The alarm volume also starts out soft and slowly gets louder. To switch to parts of your routine, turn your normal alarm on/off, or adjust volume you can all do it with manual buttons on the clock. The speaker quality is also insanely excellent- another justifier of the price point. The white noise loops perfectly.

Many bad reviews are secondary to an app subscription fee. I don’t pay for it but it’s 5 bucks a month. You get tons of functionality without it just fine. My favorite white noise sound, alarm, and wind down are all part of what’s included without the subscription. That being said, this is a $170 premium alarm clock. It is a bit comical that those who decided to make the financial decision of a $170 alarm clock cannot afford a $5 a month subscription. Point being it’s a luxury to have the alarm clock and it’s a luxury to have the subscription. Work within your budget. The alarm on your phone is free. Alarm clocks at Walmart are 5 bucks. If someone wanted the subscription for the extra content I honestly think it would be well worth $5 a month. I almost let reviews complaining about the subscription deter me from purchasing this. It has totally changed my sleep. I sleep better, I wind down better, I wake up better. I love it. The app is great and yes— you will have to use the app for intense customization. It’s the tradeoff you get for not having a screen on the clock. It’s so nice to disconnect. I hardly ever ever open the app. I have my routine set up and it just runs.

And if you’re trying to decide between this and a Loftie… HATCH ALL THE WAY! I had a Loftie first and returned it.

Better than a phone alarm

This is such a different experience from waking up to your phone alarm! The first time I woke up to the light, it startled me because it was so unexpected! Now I wake up every morning and feel less frazzled then when I use my phone. Hearing my alarm each morning made my heart rate elevate and started my day with anxiety. Whereas, waking up to a gradually increasing light does not stress me out. I haven’t ever had to use the actual alarm on the hatch because the sunrise wakes me up first! The bedtime routine is pretty cool, I currently listen to a brief story and then it turns a noisemaker on, which I love! There are a ton of different options in the app, so anyone kind find something they like.

Also, I like the way it looks on my nightstand! Neutral color with a neutral display.

Takes the pain out of waking up!

I am NOT a morning person, so I'm always looking for way to make waking up an easier process. (The sound of iPhone alarms I've used years ago still send my heart racing.) The Hatch Restore 3 has been a wonderful solution with a gentle alarm that takes the pain out of waking up.

It starts with a soothing sunrise light that slowly brightens in the lead-up to your wake time, so your body is already naturally easing into the morning before the alarm even kicks in. And the alarm itself softly fades in, calming tones without any sudden blare. Most days, the light alone has been enough to wake me, and the alarm is just a gentle final push into the waking day. Right now I'm really enjoying the "Blue Light Morning" alarm, but there are so many other options I'm excited to work through.

I've also added a second light-only alarm using the "Villa" light that I use as a mood lamp while I'm getting ready. It creates such a nice atmosphere in the morning and is a small thing that's made the whole routine feel a little more enjoyable.

On the wind-down side, I'm still working my way through all the "Unwind" options and have been loving the Sound Baths, Soundscapes, and Music selections. There's such a great variety that I can just pick whatever sounds right for my mood that night without overthinking it. My bedroom feels like a spa! I've been falling asleep to the water and rain sounds lately. There are actually several different options for the type and intensity of rain, which is a nice touch. I'm also looking forward to trying out the meditations, which I haven't gotten to yet.

I like leaving the clock on permanently, so I'm not tempted to look at my phone if I wake up in the middle of the night, but you can also set it to display the time only when you tap it, if you get clock anxiety at night.

Setting up the Restore and the app was pretty straightforward even without reading the directions. I'm still fine-tuning my favorite routines, but even the very first options I tried were great. Only a few days in and I'm already looking forward to both my morning and bedtime routines, which honestly says it all.

Sleep game changer!

I seriously love my Hatch Restore 3. It’s made such a difference in how I fall asleep and wake up. The white noise is SO good and really calming.

I use the meditations most nights and they actually help me wind down. It’s nice having something built in so I’m not reaching for my phone.

And the slow sunrise wake up is a total game changer. Waking up to soft light instead of a loud alarm is so much better. I feel way less groggy in the mornings.

Honestly one of the best things I’ve bought for my sleep. Plus it looks cute on my night stand! Highly recommend.

Finally getting some quality sleep

I got the Hatch Restore 3 recently because I struggle to fall asleep and get distracted by my phone, tv, or computer. I used to have my roommates Hatch until we had to move recently and I missed it so bought my own!

I never felt like I was sleep deprived until I started sleeping a couple more hours and was able to cut back on my social media apps at night. Instead of scrolling for distractions, stories, or asmr on my phone (which adds screen time and keeps me hooked), the alarm reads me stories in a soft voice that let's me fall asleep faster and cut back on phone time. I included a video of a story the alarm told me to show how it works and how soothing it is. I also love the gentle colors especially when I'm waking up and want to ease into my day. Once I'm awake it's always go go go, but this gives me a couple minutes to myself to start my day. Personally have really enjoyed it and also love that I have my own so I can customize it to my schedule and routines!

On a different note the look of it is also really sleek and neutral so it fit right in ti my decor without sticking out. As someone who values having a cohesive aesthetic I loved that!

Great Quality - Lots of Customization

Just received my Hatch Restore 3! I got this because I needed a bedside light, a clock, and also struggle to fall asleep sometimes, so this checked all the boxes. I got the cocoa color which is a nice light brown. The quality of the hatch is really good. The sound quality is full, and not tinny, you can choose when you want the clock to display (ex. I have mine to set to turn off from 12am to 7am so that I'm not bothered by any light when going to bed), and there is a button you can use to turn a bedside light on and off (separate from any of your sleep setting). Downloading the app is easy, but I will say it takes some getting use to in using the UI to customize your Unwind and sleep settings (aka meditations, lights, sounds, timing etc). I still need to experiment with the options to figure out what I like before going to bed. I think the app could be easier to use, but the amount of content makes me sure I will land on something I like for a daily routine. The alarms have been really reliable in the mornings and I'm happy to wake up to sounds that aren't my phone alarm. Do note that the app REQUIRES you to use a free trial of the premium version, either 7 or 30 days. If you don't want to be charged, you need to remember to cancel before. But the free trial is nice to be able to see it's full capabilities and see if it is something you want. I wish there was a way to see which offerings are part of premium vs the base offerings while in the free trial so that if you do like something that is premium, deciding whether to pay for it or not.

Nice solid clock, bright wakeup light, easy to navigate buttons

First off, it's a very nice clock. I'm embarrassed to admit one of my favorite things about it is that it's chic and looks great on my nightstand (see photo). I got the cocoa and it's a really beautiful brown.

It gets nice and bright to wake me up in the morning. It also has good sound quality for it's size, I was impressed. I also really like that the time display automatically dims, and you can do a simple tap to make it come up again. The buttons have a really nice/satisfying subtle click, they're easy to use even in the dark. The clock is easy to snooze and easy to turn off your alarm. I like the options to pause and switch between the unwind routines, as well as the button to turn the alarm off totally (for days I let myself sleep in.)

I bought it to upgrade from a different sunrise alarm that I had, so I didn't understand the whole deal of the routines, so that was a really nice surprise. I have been working to get off my phone before bed, but am naturally suspicious of anything that promises to help with that. You have to do the initial set up of the routines on the phone, but once you do that, they're all set and the controls are pretty straight forward. I have it setup now with two different unwinds and a few alarms I toggle on and off depending on when I need to wake up (e.g. some days I gym before my kid wakes up etc.) I really like the short little podcasts that come with the premium subscription. The history one and the "nightly" is very fun! I haven't tried any of the meditations but I like that they're there. I usually listen to podcasts before bed which kept my phone right next to me on the nightstand, but now I listen to the podcasts via the clock and so I leave my phone further from my bed at night, a big win.

I don't love that you have to sign up for the free trial of the premium content on initial setup, that was a little annoying. That being said, the content that comes with it is pretty good and I am now a paying subscriber, so they got me there.

It's a really nice clock, if you are trying to get off your phone at night and doomscroll less in bed, this will definitely achieve that if you invest the time in the initial setup to get your unwind routines set up. I've had it for a little under two weeks and I'm falling asleep faster and feel better rested. Definitely worth the money.

Replaced My Phone as an Alarm

I’ve never written a review before, but this product truly deserves one.

Packaging: From the moment I opened the box, I was impressed by how beautifully everything was packaged. I decided to try this product because I sometimes struggle with falling asleep, especially on nights when I’ve been scrolling on my phone too much.

Easy Setup: The setup was incredibly simple. The box includes an easy-to-follow 3-step guide, which I really appreciated. Unlike other smart alarms with tons of buttons and confusing features, this one has a minimal, straightforward design. Connecting it to the app was quick and easy as long as it was plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi.

App Interface: I love the app interface. It starts by learning your preferences and lifestyle, then automatically suggests settings that work for you. There’s a great variety of sounds, podcasts, and music to choose from. One of my favorite features is the wind-down mode, which encourages phone-free time before bed. I’ve been loving this new nighttime routine as I get ready to sleep.

As someone who used to search for YouTube videos every night just to fall asleep, this has completely elevated my sleep routine. I no longer need to scroll endlessly on my phone to find something to listen to. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to improve their sleep and reduce phone use at night.

Mandatory app with abysmal loading times

After weighing the pros and significant cons, overall I’m glad I purchased the Hatch (but just barely) as the sunrise alarm function has genuinely improved how awake I feel in the mornings, but the app you have to use to get full functionality of the device is very frustrating even for a digital native because of the loading times. I’m only glad I bought it because it was on sale, and with a gift card I got it for $90. It’s not worth the full price and definitely not the additional subscription. There are other sunrise alarm clocks out there that might work better for you.

Completely aside from the fact that the app costs a whopping $5 per month subscription or $50 a year for basic functions of an alarm clock, those basic functions are frequently buggy and unimaginably slow to respond. The loading times make the app almost unusable, with loading times as long as almost 1 full minute to simply select something, and going up from there depending on the complexity of actions or how many actions you’ve taken in a row.

For example, if you want to edit your routine, you can expect to wait 1-2 minutes to simply swap to the unwind routine you want to edit, and then wait another almost 2 full minutes of load time to save your edit once you’ve made it. The next routine you edit, the loading time will increase, almost as if the app gets “bogged down” by a log of actions you did previously. If you’re editing multiple routines at once, you’d better have something handy to do while you wait in between steps, because it could take you 15 minutes or more of wait time just to select a sound, change volume, select a lighting preference, all just for one step in one routine. Combine that with load times for adding another step, naming your routine, etc. and I was on my phone for 45 minutes tonight. Ironically, this makes the app a huge time-waster before bed if you want to do something simple like change the preset volume, and I find myself stuck on my phone which is what I was trying to avoid by buying this product. For context, I have an iPhone 13 Pro with plenty of space, and I don’t have this loading problem with any other app. I’ve tried closing out all other apps while using the Hatch app, all while having full bars of service and wifi, and the problem persists. You can close the app and reopen it to “reset” the loading times for an action or two, but they’ll be right back up to 2 minutes in no time.

Theoretically, once you get your routines set you shouldn’t have to mess with the app, but it’s been 1 month of having the app’s free trial and I still find myself sometimes wanting to adjust the preset volume or wanting to swap out sounds for the right fit. I can’t wait to cancel at the end of my free trial so I hopefully won’t have to bother with the app again. I don’t even care if I lose some functionality like the very helpful “sunset” Cue to Unwind feature which is tied up in the subscription, I will gain time in my life back. The app is certainly pretty to look at, but that might be what’s bogging it down.

Overall, I seriously thought about returning it but I’ll keep it because I got it on sale and I do like the device itself. Another sunrise alarm clock will probably do what you need it to do without the big price tag or frustration.

Would Buy Again & Recommend

My husband and I LOVE our hatch. I have had this product for almost a year now and cannot live without it and am better for it. Since getting it, I typically have a sleep score in the 90s. The hatch plus an Apple Watch is an unmatched combo for optimizing sleep. I love the bedtime routines available as well as the alarms that are available. When we move houses, we didn’t have WiFi in our new house for a month and the Hatch still did the last routine we had saved every day. I can’t say enough good things about it and wish everyone could afford such a marvelous product. My only complaint is that it is a little pricey & you have to get the subscription to access all of the product’s abilities. I truly understand… 200 for a clock… BUT I think that high price is how Hatch is probably able to afford all the unique speakers and musicians that they use to produce sounds, stories, etc. that really immerse you. Other than that I do not regret the purchase AT ALLLLLLL and would make it again.

The video is just one of the many bedtime stories we chose - Great Gatsby!

dupe vs the Hatch?? (Hairclip for size comparison)

Edit: I added a star because their customer service was so kind since I was unhappy with the product. Really sweet company!

It works fine and does what it’s supposed to, but it’s not the best out there. The app is so complicated and costs 4.99 a month or 49.99 a year. I don’t recommend bc why would I buy something for $170 just to pay monthly to get full access??? I found a dupe that works so much better. It’s doesn’t need the app.

Pros

- lots of sound options

- routine is nice once you get it set up

- feels luxurious

- lots of light options

- motivational alarms (someone is literally talking and getting you motivated for the day)

- sunrise is BRIGHT you are not sleeping through it

Cons

- the app is HORRIBLE

- hard to change routines

- app is unorganized and it’s hard to find anything so I was very overwhelmed

- you have to use your phone to set it up

- time isn’t shown unless you tap the hatch

- the subscription (I already paid $170 for this???? You need more money???)

- I don’t like how it looks. It so cute online, but in person the front fabric looks like it had threads pulled out and it looks purposeful

Just some other facts

- it’s really small? Maybe a con maybe a pro idk

- packing is really fun haha

- not a lot of buttons (I like more even though more is not aesthetically pleasing)

- if you want a really intricate routine that you change often I would say you might like this. But for me I can set up a sunset and play music on the dupe that will turn off after a set amount of time for my wind down time before bed and then I can wake up to a sunrise with birds chirping WITHOUT HAVING MY PHONE WITH ME.

Just more info

It does not seem durable! The volume button was messing up right out of the box. (Which is probably just a random thing that won’t happen often.) the fabric screen will get messed up soooo easily. It already looked like it had some snags in it.

IT IS NOT EASY TO SET UP and I promise I’m not dumb I have a masters degree haha

The time display doesn’t stay on all the time and I hate that

If you thinking of gifting it you better gift the subscription too for it to be worth it

Phone-Free Restful Evenings!!

I was searching for a way to use my phone less in the evenings and not depend on it for an alarm. The Hatch is absolutely best case scenario what I was hoping for. I bought the Hatch Restore 3 in Rosy, and I'm obsessed with the soft pink color. It helps me wind down without using my phone at night, and now I don't have to sleep with my phone on my bedside table. I'm way less distracted by it and it gives me such peace of mind. Now I can leave my phone charging in another room. Not only am I sleeping better, but it's just more fun having the Hatch to play wind down sounds and soothing lights in the evenings. The big top button is so satisfying and it's truly such a simple clean design. In the mornings, I wake up to gentle light and sound from the Hatch. You can customize it to whatever settings you need to wake up. The settings across the board are SO customizable to tailor to exactly what you're looking for. There's also a deep library of music/sound design paired with soft lighting effects with different themes to help you find what style best suits you. The app is SO PRETTY and well designed, they've made it so easy to use and clearly crafted with everyone's wellbeing in mind. Truly a huge fan of the Hatch 3 I'd recommend it to anyone searching for a calmer, less phone-invasive evening and morning routine. I'm so happy with the purchase.

My Hatch Restore 3 Review – A Game-Changer for Sleep and Mornings! ★★★★★

I’ve been using the Hatch Restore 3 for a few weeks now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time. I was hesitant at first because of the price ($169.99 isn’t cheap!), but after seeing it all over TikTok and reading some glowing reviews, I decided to take the plunge. Let me tell you, it’s worth every single penny. This isn’t just an alarm clock—it’s like a sleep coach, a sound machine, and a sunrise simulator all rolled into one sleek, stylish package. I’m obsessed, and I’m giving it a well-deserved 5 stars!

First off, let’s talk about the design. I got mine in the Putty color, and it looks so chic on my nightstand. It’s got this minimalist, half-moon shape that doesn’t scream “gadget” but still feels modern and high-quality. The materials feel premium, and it’s not bulky at all—it fits perfectly next to my lamp and books without crowding the space. The dimmable clock display on the front is a nice touch, too. I snapped a quick photo of it in clock mode (attached below), and you can see how clean and simple it looks. I love that I can adjust the brightness so it’s not glaring at me in the middle of the night.

Setting it up was super easy. You download the Hatch Sleep app, connect it to your Wi-Fi, and answer a few questions about your sleep habits. The app then suggests routines tailored to you—I got “The Sweet Dreamer” persona, which felt spot-on. It took maybe 15 minutes total, and I was ready to go. The app is so intuitive, and I love that I can control everything from my phone, though the new physical buttons on the Restore 3 make it even better. That “Big Button” on top? Genius. I can start my routine, adjust the volume, or snooze the alarm without fumbling for my phone in the dark. The side buttons for the bedside light and alarm toggle are clutch, too—no more accidentally blinding myself with my phone screen at 2 a.m.!

The wind-down features are where this thing really shines. I’ve always struggled to unplug at night (scrolling Instagram until midnight is my weakness), but the Restore 3 has totally changed my routine. My favorite sound is “Light Rain”—it’s so soothing, and it makes me feel like I’m in a cozy cabin somewhere instead of my city apartment. I pair it with a soft orange light, and it’s like an instant signal to my brain that it’s time to relax. There’s a huge library of options—ocean waves, meditations, even bedtime stories! I don’t have the Hatch+ subscription yet (it’s $5/month after the free trial), but even the free content is impressive. I’m tempted to upgrade just for the extra podcasts and soundscapes.

Then there’s the sunrise alarm. Oh my goodness, this is a game-changer. I used to wake up to my phone’s blaring alarm and feel groggy for hours, but now I wake up to a gentle, warm light that gradually brightens my room. I set it to start 30 minutes before my alarm, and by the time the birds chirping sound kicks in, I’m already half-awake and feeling refreshed. It’s not harsh or jarring at all—it’s like the sun is personally waking me up. I’ve noticed I’m hitting snooze way less, which is a miracle for someone like me who used to slap that button five times every morning.

The sound quality is fantastic, too. The speaker is clear and crisp, whether I’m playing white noise or a guided meditation. It’s not tinny like some cheap sound machines I’ve tried in the past. And the light options? So fun! You can pick from all these dynamic colors—pink, blue, purple—or stick with a solid glow. I’ve been using it as a reading light some nights, and it’s perfect for winding down with a book instead of staring at a screen.

I’ll admit, I was skeptical about whether this would actually improve my sleep, but it’s exceeded all my expectations. I fall asleep faster, sleep more soundly, and wake up feeling energized instead of grumpy. My wife even commented that I seem less stressed in the mornings, which is a huge win. It’s not wireless (you need to plug it in), but the cord is long enough that it hasn’t been an issue for me.

If you’re on the fence about the Hatch Restore 3, just go for it. It’s an investment in your sleep and sanity, and it delivers on every promise. I’ve already recommended it to all my friends, and I’m thinking about getting one for my mom as a gift. It’s that good. Check out my photo below of it in clock mode—it’s simple but so effective. I can’t imagine going back to a regular alarm clock after this!
