They’re compact, easy to set up, and incredibly convenient to use with my iPhone. I love the wireless freedom and having two microphones available when needed. I’m just getting started with them, but so far, I’m very happy with my purchase and excited to put them to more use!

You don’t have to spend the big bucks to get a great microphone! I’ve been so happy with my Hollyland Lark A1 that I ended up getting one for my son, too. I use mine for creating content, and it’s been a great value for my needs. I’m pleased enough with it that I felt confident choosing the same one for him.

These are amazing!!! I always wanted to try them so I went ahead and bought them as a small birthday gift to myself…and I don’t regret my purchase at all! Simple plug and play connection, the noise cancelling is top tier and the audio quality is superb. I’m a DJI girlie but these are fast becoming my fave and the Matcha Green color is everything! They’re small and weightless and charge quickly in the case. I love these so much.

I really wanted to like this microphone, but unfortunately mine appears to be defective. I tested it on multiple Apple devices including an iPhone and iPad, followed the setup instructions, changed settings, reconnected the microphones several times, and tried troubleshooting, but it still kept blinking and recorded no audio at all.
The sound quality cannot even be tested properly because the microphone never worked correctly from the beginning. I’m leaving this review so other buyers are aware that there may be quality control issues with some units.

The Hollyland Lark A1 wireless microphone system I reviewed came with both a lightning receiver and a USB-C receiver and two wireless microphones and a charge case that is both a battery and a charger for the microphones.
I was super impressed with the quality of the packaging, presentation of the product, instructions and first impression.
I actually own the more expensive competition to this by the drone maker ... but will say out of the box, I was blown away with the size of these microphones, very small and the magnets are very powerful. Some might say a con is no clip on the microphones, but for the intended use of these I think the magnets work great and are positioned on the inside of the clothing, while the mic is position on the outside of the clothing. The strength of the magment makes it secure very well to my shirt, but because the size is so small -- it really isn't noticeable (visually, as its small ... but also it does not sag the clothing or feel like your wearing anything) ... where are both is a huge positives.
So how does it sound? It sounds great and you can use it with or without the app ... but there are a few extras you can adjust with the very good hollyland app (I used only the ios version). Apparently if you use both mics on say a hat, the app does allow them to record in stereo ... otherwise its a mono recording.
I love the size of the carrying case which can charge the mics twice on a single change ... and the inclusion of a USB C cord to charge the case is a nice touch.
I will say that the first time I used the mics, they appeared to be dead .. which is because I had forgotten to remove the plastic from the mic charging contacts ... so make sure to do that first, then it will charge as expected. In fact that allowed me to test how long it would take to charge inside the carrying case ... and it seemed ready to go in an hour or two (not long).
I tried it with both my iphone 13 mini and a couple different generations of ipads. I had no problems with any of the devices and nearly instantaneous pairing when plugged in. I will say, I love how this are so automatic, just pull them out and plug them in and your ready to record. There is a button on the mics that does a few things, but the main one is to activate noise reduction or deactivate it. The default mode was fine for me, so I didn't charge it ... but using the app you can easily change it if the default mode isn't your favorite. I was impressed how the defaults were all exactly how I wanted to use it and sounded great ... no adjustments needed to work great. That's how a good device should be, ready to go and the defaults are perfect for the majority of users. Well done!
When I did some test recording on both iphone and ipad there was no comparison between how much better the Hollyland sounded vs. the built in iphone/ipad mics which are high quality but not even close.
As I mentioned before, I own a higher priced set of mics and they are nice ... but really for the money, this is a no brainer bargain and they are much smaller than the competition and very well priced for what you get. The range on these is more than anyone would likely ever need, so I never found the limit and most people won't either. The entire carrying case with both receivers and both mics inside ... is super comfortable in my shorts pocket.
On the cons, which there are very few ... I would say I wasn't able to plug the lightning receiver into my ipad with a big case on, but it did work fine when the case was removed. Thats not really a fault but the plug is nice and compact, but that means cases could get in the way. My iphone case wasn't an issue, but my large ipad case which is built to save the unit from drops ... was too thick. I did my testing on my other ipad which didn't have a case on it. Operation was flawless. I would say there is no onboard storage ... so these are just microphones and you record on the device that the receiver is plugged into. Not really a con, since this is how most mics in the world work. I am just pointing out there is no emergency recording on these and I've really never needed one but maybe a pro might. The dead cat wind covers are really nice ... but they cannot be stored in the case itself, so you need remove them and store them in the carrying bag that holds the charging case. Not a big con, since the bag also protects the case and doesn't add any bulk.
I also tested the USB C with my laptop and it worked great. I think having both a lightning and USB C kit is great because it will work with anything and everything. And a side benefit these have on lightning or USB C is that the receivers also provide USB-C female jack, so you can charge the units with USB-C even with the receiver plugged in ... even the competition hasn't done that to my knowledge.

I’m very pleased with this mic! I’ve tried a couple different mics and either one wasn’t working or the feedback was different once I played the video back. Not this one. The voice was clear. I like that everything was compact and the pouch they provided was big enough to hold everything in them. I’m honestly not sure about if there were any other settings because I didn’t look at the instructions. I just like how easy it was to set up. I took photos of everything that was in there. The mic has a magnetic piece that is strong to attach to clothing. There wasn’t a clip, and it’s not needed as long as you don’t lose the removable magnetic piece.
When I have time, I’ll try to update you on more of the functions if I need. Easy to set up for either a regular iPhone or any type of USB-C port device. Just plug in to device, and hold on the mic until the blue light turns on and shows it’s connected by the blue light on the receiver attached to the device. So far, I can say that I think it’s worth it to purchase THIS one out of the others in the price range.

I'm really impressed with this system — the sound quality it captures is amazing considering how small and lightweight it is. Plus, since it's plug and play, setup is super fast and easy. I recorded the audio for my review video by simply plugging the USB-C receiver directly into my computer, no installation needed. Excellent product, highly recommended!

The audio quality is very impressive, the build quality is equally impressive, the charging case adds a ton of convenience, and having so many controllable parameters in the app lets you dial in exactly what you need with ease.
Within the app you can control the gain / volume level — I kept it at 5 out of 6 for all my tests and never had issues with distortion or needing to add gain. You can control the level of noise cancellation — the lower you keep this the better the audio quality will be, but even at the highest level the quality drop off wasn’t too tremendous. You can control EQ depending on what you’re recording, and you can also add reverb which sounds nice with singing & instruments.
If you watch my review video, you’ll see a unique application at the end — attaching a mic to a guitar. Sometimes I post short clips of playing guitar & singing to instagram stories, and this will be a great way to get more creative framing with not having to be close to my phone for good audio.
My main use cases will be for home videos — attaching the mics to my kids — and for some social media content where I don’t use my professional cameras. These mics are going to be perfect for both of those uses.
Overall I’m stoked about these mics and will be throwing the case in my pocket when I’m feeling creative!

When it comes to product design Hollyland is the one that comes to mind as the most thought out, and this new Lark A1 does not disappoint in that regard.
While the microphones come in a charging case, it ALSO comes with a bag that is perfectly sized to fit the included wind muffs and charging cable. This way you don't have to worry about losing your wind muffs when you toss everything in your bag to go. Nice!
These units are much smaller than I was expected. I guess I couldn't grasp just how tiny these are from the pictures of the product. Putting it in my hand for scale, it smaller than just about any other wireless lav I've used.
The unit design is basic.... No on-board recording, no 3.5mm jack for an external lav, no 3.5mm receiver to run into a mirrorless camera, just a simple no fuss system specifically designed with a cell phone use in mind, at a very reasonable price.
The audio quality is better than built in camera microphones, especially at a distance. I rarely use noise cancellation as I will edit that in post, so I have no major comments related to the multiple levels of cancellation this allows.
A couple features I REALLY appreciate...
1. Being able to disable the LEDs while in use
2. Ability to charge your phone while the receiver is plugged in.
3. Simple and firm wind muff design.
A few minor gripes...
1. The "product markings" on the back of the tranmitters, receiver, and case are all stickers and nearly impossible to read. These can easily be removed altogether if desired.
2. The magnets are a plastic material, which is fine, but a nice rubberized material would have put this over the top!
For the price point, it's really hard to complain about the above too harshly. The build quality otherwise is very good, and the subdued styling very appealing and sleek while in use.
If you want something that is easy to toss in any bag on the go, and not overly distracting, this Hollyland Lark A1 may be the product for you.
