Great set up alternative to the "big" names

I was pleasantly surprised with this solar powered wireless security camera setup. It works well and did not give me the headache like with other similar, name brand products.

Installation took all of 10 minutes. There are templates included for the camera bracket and the solar panel bracket so there's no question when drilling holes. The box actually came with everything needed to set the camera up; however, like most products, the screws are crap. There is even a little screwdriver!

The USB cord from the solar panel to the camera itself is only about 6 ft long I would have liked to have had the option for a longer cord. The camera has the option for SD cards. The directions are easy to follow and comprehensive. All in all, it's a good value.

Simple install and self contained: solar powered, wifi connected

I love that this outdoor security camera is completely self contained. All it requires is a location that has access to wifi and you'll have it up and running in no time.

Despite having two components, the install is exceedingly easy. The camera mount bracket is attached to the wall with 4 included screws and the camera then attached to the bracket with 4 thumbscrews. The solar panel similarly mounts with 4 included screws and then plugs into the camera with the attached USB-C cable. If you have a nearby outlet or are installing this indoors you can just as easily use any 5V USB-C connection to plug in the camera.

Before installing the camera outdoors, I got it fully charged (via a wall charger) and configured indoors. The camera has a speaker which guides you through the process. The installation process basically requires installing an app, registering, and connecting to the camera. I also installed an SD card in the camera for local video storage.

Once configured and installed outdoor the camera was easy to operate. The app allows panning left/right as well as up/down. It has an IR night vision mode to allow recordings in dark areas. I did not see a way to enable that only in darkness so the video it records in daytime appears as greyscale.

Overall, for a quality solar powered, wifi enabled security camera with motion detection and night vision I's say this is a value.

Great cam for doorway or garage.

Got this for my front door and haven't been able to mount it yet. Thats my fault more than anything though. Theres no way to mount this from the top only the back so I have to make some sort of bracket. Other than that I did test it and it works great. Picture quality is nice even at night. Comes with everything you need to mount and set up. The solar panels is decent size, bigger than ones ive gotten with trail cams, so thats nice. Tested the wifi range and it had no issues connecting well past my garage and side gate. The cable is also a decent length leaving you a bit of wiggle room when mounting the panel away from the cam. Its quite a nice little system that I can't wait to get fully mounted. Just wish it had a top and back mounting point but thats on me.

I use these cameras in and around my horse barn and yard to keep tabs on everyone when I’m away at work. I’ve had these cameras for 5+ years; love the ubia app. And the customer service is top tier

app and camera work beautifully

this camera is slightly near the end of the signal range because the router is in the back of the house, 1st floor, and the camera is in the front of the house outside 2nd floor -- it works well except that it disconnects sometimes -- I am moving it to the back yard close to the router so I am not getting an extender -- the app connects from as far as 50 miles away so far -- I know distance from the camera and the phone doesn't matter -- the camera movement, for some reason works smoother when I am not at home, but I hope this resolves when I move it -- this does not track your movement but was not advertised to do so -- the picture of my head and T-shirt is using the IR lighting -- two other pictures show the IR light and the LED light -- the last picture is where it is mounted now -- I ran the wire for the solar panel under the window and is resting facing the morning sun -- the motion capture works everytime but like other cameras is too slow to capture vehicles or people walking past -- it does capture delivery people walking toward the camera -- I'm not taking stars off because there was no mention that it would do those things -- I ordered this to monitor a creek that runs 25' behind my property line -- the zoom keeps everything in focus and I can see clearly my Daughters house about 200 yards through the neighbors yard -- once I clear a path through the trees for a good line of sight to the I will change locations -- it only will connect to a 2.4Hhz signal -- 5 Ghz is a no go -- I lost the pamphlet that has the instructions and messaged the seller through the email listed in the app and ended up on a chat with them to resolve some app operation issues I had -- on a phone you need to expand and landscape the picture and swipe left to get the directional arrows to move the camera and depress the icon for the cloud to change it to SD to see the short video clips it captures -- I am happy to have this and I liked the quick support resposes that I received

Quality Camera - Great Value!

I am using this as my "bird cam", and so far this has exceeding my expectations!

1) I LOVE the solar panel power option. This makes camera placement a breeze because you do not need to be near any other power source. The sunlight is all you need! This camera also works on the cloudy days by using the stored up rechargeable battery life.

2) The picture quality is excellent! I've been using the camera for a few weeks now and have had zero issues with day or night vision.

3) The option to add a memory card for storage and playback is nice. I am not currently using a memory card for storage, but rather viewing the live footage. Which brings me to my next point...

4) AI motion detection is spot on! I receive all the notice I need, and I can turn off the notifications if I don't want the interruptions.

5) Installation was a breeze! I did pre-drill holes which made the bracket mounting easier.

6) The lens can be easily adjusted remotely from your connected device.

7) It is waterproof so I don't need to worry about weather impacting the camera function.

8) This camera is a great value at this price point!

great overall camera

This solar camera is fantastic. It was incredibly easy to set up and the 2K video quality is crystal clear, even at night. The solar panel keeps it charged with no effort, and the AI motion detection is accurate. It's nice having both free cloud and SD card options. A completely wire-free, reliable security solution. Highly recommend.

Good picture quality and easy set-up

I'm in the process of building a detached garage and ordered this camera for the main door. I'm not quite ready to install it but was excited to check it out. I connected it to my phone via UBox app. It is simple to set up and has a really nice picture quality. You can use the app to pan around and view a large area. It comes with all the mounting hardware you need and will be a simple install. The price is really good for a camera with so many options. I ordered the one that works on wifi and has a slot for and SD card and it will work perfectly for my needs.

Easy to use and works great

This camera is much better than I expected. First it's well built. It feels like a solid camera. The mount for the solar panel is metal, there is plenty of hardware, and the picture is very clear. I have other cameras connected to the app so this setup was very simple. But even though I've worked with the app before, I can still say it is very user friendly. And this camera in particular is just what I needed. I like to use it in my back yard so I can see what critters are coming and going. All I did was give the camera an initial charge, mounted it on a board (optional but makes it super easy install) and screwed it onto a wood post. I have a micro sd, no cloud subscription is necessary, and it's connected to my wifi. NO SIM CARD IS NEEDED. I can adjust my settings, view my occurrences, and not have to worry about power. That solar panel is huge.... Overall no complaints at all, very happy with it.

Unfortunate name, excellent camera!!

Ok.. I had a bit of a chuckle when I saw the name. If you don’t get it, that’s just fine.

This camera is wicked easy to install and set up, very easy to adjust, and the image is of super quality. Much nicer than my current home security system.

The camera isn’t too big, and neither is the solar panel. It remains to be seen how long it’ll keep this guy charged, but if previous security cameras are telling the tale, I’d guess it’ll work just fine.

Overall an excellent value for the money, and be advised.. you’ll need to install your own micro SD card!

Smart wireless outdoor security camera 2K PTZ

This Review is for solar power rechargeable Wi-Fi PTZ outdoorsecurity camera 2K resolution.

First thing to note it uses a UBOX app.

Second thing is you need to have a SD card if you don’t want to use the cloud service

The camera rotates horizontal (I am replacing account doesn’t do that)

Connection to the app very smoothly, voice prompts, and QR code. Lose your Wi-Fi password for this camera and add permissions for microphone in photo album. So far I’m testing it before I permanently place. So far everything works as I expected. Resolution is pretty clear even night vision. I took a lot of photos. We can see if the security camera pitcher needs.

You’ll probably need to have enough sunshine. It charged to keep it working.

Great so far

This has been a great security camera so far. Installation was very easy with the included brackets and connecting the camera to the app only took a few minutes. The picture quality is really good at 4K and decent on standard- as long as you have a good connection to the internet, picture quality should be great.

The solar panel is much larger than other cameras I’ve used. This can be a pro or a con based on your usage. I had plenty of room to mount it so the size is nice if it keeps the battery charged more easily. If you have limited space, the size might make it less likely to fit. The bracket that holds the panel also sticks out off the wall fairly far compared to other mounts.

Being able to adjust where the camera views and move it around in real time is amazing and I like that you can choose to use their cloud storage or your own SD card.

It is a really good value for the money. Quality camera, large solar panel, and a easy to use free app make this one hard to beat for the price.

Easy Connection Nice PTZ Cam

I have utilized many small WIFI cams over the past few years. They are so small and inexpensive recently the catch is that they try to get you to sign up to their cloud storage app. While this cam does offer a cloud storage service, it is supposedly free for the first 30 days, I was able to go into settings and change recordings to go to TF/SD card so motion events are recorded to the card and can be played back. So far so good, I have used it without fail but you do need to supply your own SD card. Overall the cam is bigger than many WIFI cams I have used as is its solar panel. It does have PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) controls in the app so that calls for the bigger body. I set up the app and connected immediately with zero issues and have been running it for a few days with great success. It could still start nagging for me to subscribe to their cloud service in the future but it is not a problem now. The image quality is great, adjustable from SD to claimed 2k and it looks good to me. I usually install these cameras outside but protected by an overhang to extend their life. It has performed as well or better than any other solar WIFI cam I have used before.

Connected flawlessly

Upon opening the box the very top item was the solar panel. I wasn't prepared for it to be so large. It is an impressive size and quality for such a small camera. The setup instructions are excellent with the instructions on how to hang the panel great but hanging the camera instructions are vague and disappointing. The bracket for the camera fits flush against the camera back with the 4 white screws holding the camera on. You must first mount the bracket then attach the camera. If the instructions were clear and having a diagram this review would definitely be 5 stars.

My camera is roughly 30 yards from the router and my signal is great. This camera has great resolution even with a closeup zoom. I'm extremely pleased.

The best investment

Excellent camera, very complete and easy to use

I bought this camera because of the distance and lack of internet access, and the best thing is that it doesn't need Wi-Fi, it works directly with the cellular network, which makes it functional.

It comes with everything included: camera, solar panel, battery, mounting accessories, and is very easy to install. The image quality is clear both day and night, the viewing angle is wide, and the motion detection works very well.

Have to pay an expensive subscription to use the camera. Waste of money

Requires an expensive subscription to use which wasn’t obviously disclosed anywhere, also only allows you to use their SIM card to force you to pay for their overpriced subscription.

Support Team very responsive

I'm I Jamaica and the built-in sim card does not seem to work in my country. The support team was very responsive within minutes of reaching out to them via the app and they offered alternative options for their technical team to assist with the issue within 24-hour. So far so good with this product. I will follow up with a final review at the completion of the service. Good job so far guys.

Best camera ever outdoors

I like everything about this camera no dislikes. I’m using this camera out at my ranch now. I can take care of my animals from my home.

Security when I'm away from home.

The easability and the price that I didn't need for a security company to try and RIP ME OFF over simple installation of a system that I can "PAIR" to my OWN PHONE without buying an EXPENSIVE ONE. Moto E6 out. Update 04/20/24 Camera now only shows me still pictures and takes up to almost 2 minutes to do that. My sister has an ANDROID phone and can see video footage in real time. I don't know what happened to my video footage but it was working fine at first. I had to change my rating for this product. UPDATE 05-15-24 I finally figured that I had to pay for more service not knowing that at the beginning so 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating it gets.

Poor customer service

Update to my previous review. I had originally purchased 4 cameras and 4 128GB memory cards. When one of the cameras went off line I tried to contact customer service. I tried customer service through email at 0900 as soon as they said someone would be available, e-mail being the only contact provided. I was then directed to the CHATBOT who Informed me that it would be 12 hours until I would get a response. If I can’t get any issues resolved during normal business hours I don’t want it. I’ve since sent all 4 cameras and memory cards back.

Does not work with other company SIM

They forgot to mention this camera works only with their provided SIM card. Even though the camera is able to upload the video just fine to the cloud with a different SIM, but when the app is opened, it prevents live view and shows this error message. This is proof they could allow other SIM without any issues, but didn't to force people to buy their expensive data plans. Also no response from the hosafe customer support when I contacted about this issue in UBox app. The original SIM that came with the camera got suspended, and there is no option to recharge it. So now I am left with a 4G camera that works only for recording 10sec cloud videos on motion detection. Buyers be prepared that if you buy this camera, you are stuck with buying only their data plans.

Subscription fee required

We purchased this camera to keep an eye on our pups while they were in the kennel. The color and night images were great. The two-way communication, the light, and the pan-o-vision was a bonus! I’m pretty low-tech and set-up by myself. Also…connectivity was never dropped, even 3.5 hours away from home. I definitely recommend it. The price was very reasonable, too.
