I had this same model Hunter fan model 50486 builders plus put in my new house.
It lasted less than 5 years. Looking for replacement. Lowes does not carry model now. Found this one here. Don't wanna have to buy another extension rod or light kit. Hope this will work. I've had ceiling fans last ten to 15 years. Quality is gone. They are made in China.

This is a beautiful Hunter fan. It reminds me of the original Hunter-Classy & Vintage. I ordered the smaller one and it looks stunning in my office. Mine had the modern label. View in photo.

This fan is a big improvement from the one we replaced with it. The fan is quiet and works great. We have it on the short rod. It gets hot in AZ even with the ac on so good ceiling fans are a must. Thank you!

Update 5/26/24: its working still beautifully
Reduction of stars due to it being super hard to squish 15 total rubber rings into the blades. This was ridiculous and hurt my fingers so bad. 3 on each blade and this can definitely be improved. I do diy crafts and wood work myself and not no weakling but this was not ok. Those blade holes were so small that this rubber ring thingy would not fit cause it was way too big. I needed a screwdriver and had to watch out to not damage the wood. Now that its done, its def nice. It doesnt make no motor sounds and is strong. The light bulbs that cane with it are super bright so i had to only use one&also got me a weaker light as the 2nd one. Its all in all a very easy description on how to connect the wires (for beginners even) and it wasnt overly heavy so I liked that a lot. Overall look I’d say is elegant and modern.

I am satisfied with this ceiling fan. I operate 24/7. Air circulation is just at a velocity I want; don’t dry out my eyes. There was an oily smell at first use but after a day of 24 hours of use it was gone.
Con: almost quiet. If I run it 24/7 it have a very slight ticking sound that’s hardly noticeable. At night while sleeping I like perfect quiet. So I turn it off a few minutes a day that has taken care of that sound.
The speed control was confusing at first. It’s the reverse of normal ceiling fans. I notice 1 pull is high. 2 pulls is med. 3 pulls slow. 4 pulls stops it.
Otherwise perfect.

When contractor came to install the fans, we found one of the blades broken in the box. I would like replacement blades for one of the fans.

Nice look, quiet but took 4 hours to put together. We were so frustrated! Screws are very small. No remote control in box. Don’t really need one though.

For the price is a good deal.
Ask someone to helping you with installation. It will be way easier. As a single man it was not easy to install it alone.
I use it for s bedroom and the light is enough for bedroom :)

This fan looks great, feels solid, and works quietly. This is a small thing, but I appreciated that the different hardware parts were packaged in separate and distinctly marked bags. It removed the guesswork. Some of the written instructions were a bit vague and the accompanying pictures unclear, but not bad; a few moments of head-scratching and we were back on our way. Because of the angled ceiling, I had to order a longer downrod, and wish there had been an option between the 3" downrod that came with the fan, and the 12" downrod I bought, but whatever, close enough. I really like the look of the fan, the solid feel of the switches and the silent operation of the fan.

I have installed a lot of Hunter fans. This one definitely took a little longer than most I have done. With that said once done it’s a great nice finish quiet motor fan, and for the price you can’t go wrong.

Our old fan had a definite humming sound. This one is completely quiet and we run it all night every night. It's very pretty in our bedrom, too. I'm so glad my husband added it.

You get what you pay for. Hunter fans are the best on the market if you ask me. I had another brand name fan and I loved the style and color of it but I could not balance it even with a balancing kit. I would lose sleep from it knocking at random times. This new Hunter fan is extremely balanced, does not rock at all and is dead silent.

Very nice looking fan. The large blades put out good air movement. The light kit looks nice... but for my purposes the lights are to bright. Wish they had a dimmer. I will replace the factory bulbs with a lower wattage

Read the instruction. If an 85 year old grandpa can put two of these up in one afternoon, anyone can. They both work as should and quiet with no vibrations. I hooked them up tp a light switch to turn just the lights on and another switch just to turn on the fans.

We ordered this to replace a fan that had a burned out motor...it took us over 5 years to finally get around to replace it lol.
Install was pretty easy and the fan works well. Since we had existing wiring we were able to do it ourselves, so that was a plus. We did change the light bulbs for LED ones which are dimmer than what that picture shows (that was before we went to the store).
However, about an hour of it running I did notice a smell...kinda like burning plastic but not as strong... it's hard to describe. I searched the web and saw something about oil burn off or what not and that if it still smells after 48 hours then it's an issue with the fan. I did check the housing for excess heat and it was slightly warm, but not at all hot, so I decided to see what happens as far as the odor dissipating.
I went back in the room almost 24 hours later and started purposely sniffing the air (in case I was used to the odor) and no longer smell it, so that helped ease my mind a bit.
I docked a star because of the initial odor we experienced.

Love the fan, but immediately rejected the light bulbs that were given. WAYYYY to bright. So went to the store and bought Edison bulbs for this fan. Looks amazing and runs so quietly compared to my old one.

I ordered 2 of these fans .. One for each of the bedrooms! And when I say they are amazing I mean it.. They are super quiet and smooth.. I read reviews about other fans and this one and was a little hesitant at first but took my chances.. And I'm glad I did! I love them..

I read a lot of reviews, some of which suggested a hum or other anomalous sound. I found this NOT to be the case. I bought 3 of them and mounted them in three different rooms. None of them make any extraneous noise. I also had read that the fan speed was not fast enough, or that there were other performance issues. Again, I found this NOT to be the case. All 3 of my fans perform flawlessly.
One of my fans was missing one of the two pull chains that come out of the main unit (not the extension chain). I was very unhappy with Hunter's customer service, since after three calls, nobody ever answered the phone. I spent a long time on hold. This, to me, made the problem a complete non-issue.
Am I happy - you bet your bottom dollar I am. All fans were very easy to assemble (which, contrary to others who were miffed at this, I found to be a bit of a fun project). The instructions included several methods of electrical assembly, which worked nicely for me since I rent and want to take them with me when I move - so I was able to wire each of them to their own respective 16 gauge heavy duty extension cord and plug them into wall outlets. I'll spare you my other mounting details, since I'm sure very few buyers have the same chalet style exposed roof beams that I have, which allowed me to fabricate my own 4 screw mounting units. But, if you can find a way to contact me, I'll be happy to share my approach. I've attached a photo though, so you can see. Ignore the cord, since that was a sloppy mount to get them running. I've since used a spool of color coordinated 16 gauge wire to hide the cords along the ceiling contours. ;)
Anyway - I highly recommend these fans. They are pretty - yet masculine in appearance, the lights are bright enough for my needs, and I'd make the purchase again in a second if I needed to.
