Good offline music player for kids despite outdated tech

I bought this MP3 player for my child who needed something for music and library audiobooks without full internet access. It serves that purpose well, but comes with some notable drawbacks.

The biggest issue is the outdated operating system. Don't expect any security updates, which is concerning if you plan to connect it to WiFi. The screen technology also feels very dated compared to modern devices. It scratches much more easily than what you'd expect if you're used to Gorilla Glass on phones and tablets. My kid had visible scratches within the first week of normal use.

On the positive side, this does exactly what we wanted for controlled access. The parental controls are somewhat limited but they exist, which is better than nothing. It's perfect for kids who just need music playback and access to library apps like Libby for audiobooks. The fact that you can restrict internet access while still allowing specific educational apps makes it ideal for parents who want to avoid the full smartphone experience.

The 4 inch touchscreen is decent sized for a dedicated music player, and the built-in speaker works fine for casual listening.

Overall, it's a solid choice if you specifically need an offline-focused device for kids and can look past the dated technology. Just be prepared for a more fragile screen than modern devices and no software updates.

Broken after 2 months :(

Will not turn on after only 2 months (was a late Christmas gift) and less than 4 full hours of use. I had such high hopes for this given the reviews and testimonials. My poor heartbroken music loving son. We followed the instructions, troubleshooting tips, help videos…nada. Black screen. No life.

Feature‑Packed Music Player That Feels Like a Mini Tablet

The 160GB storage is generous, and with support for up to 1TB, I don't have to worry about running out of space. It handles many music apps smoothly. The 4.0" touch screen is bright and responsive, making it easy to navigate apps or playlists. Bluetooth pairing with headphones and speakers works reliably, and the built‑in speaker is surprisingly decent for casual listening.

What I like most is that it keeps me focused on entertainment without the distractions of a phone. It's perfect for kids or anyone who wants a dedicated player for music, podcasts, and audiobooks. Overall, this device blends the nostalgia of an MP3 player with the convenience of modern streaming. Compact, versatile, and practical. A solid buy for everyday listening.

Cybersecurity Risk, Unconfigurable, Not Worth It

Firstly, if you want a VERY simply device to play mp3s, this will work. But, you should use something else instead. While the packaging for this product is good, and it does come with some useful accessories (as it should considering the cost), the software is the major drawback here. The hardware is good. Responsive screen, premium feel of the device in hand, nice physical buttons, etc. The device has 32GB natively but comes with a microSD card that expands storage by 128GB. Good start, but the software is a custom kernel made by the company that you CANNOT UPDATE. You cannot update the Android version from what it comes with (version 8.1.0). This is a major security flaw. Let me say that again. THIS IS A MAJOR SECURITY FLAW! You CANNOT connect this device to the Internet unless you want to open yourself to hundreds of known compromises that any script kiddy can download. Incidentally, you also are unable to install your own apps. You're stuck with the out-of-date (insecure and clunky) apps it comes with. I may try to flash this device with Linux Mobile or something, but as it is, I would never use this. Do not buy it unless you want a security liability hanging off your home network. I'm giving it one extra star because it does indeed look and feel like a good product, and let's face it. It does what it says it does... Plays mp3s.

Amazing

This MP3 player is amazing! The 4-inch touchscreen feels great to the touch, very responsive, and easy to use. It’s comfortable to hold, lightweight, and simple to operate — perfect for kids!

Very solid music player (anf more)

I am honestly not sure why Inioasis has labeled this as a "kid's player". I believe that the Innioasis G1 and G3 player have more or less become the standard. I visited the site because I could not figure out the difference between the two players. The G3 is the newer of the two, and boasts double thje ram. This player has 32g on board, whie the G1 has 16G. Other than that, the two are more or less indistinguishable. The last two photos show the pre-loaded apps on each playetr. (The G1 is on the left).

The player is a good size. It can easily be carried in a pocket, front or back...but, do rememer that the svcreen is glass, so a back pocket might not be the best idea ;)

The G3 is preloaded with apps for the most popular music services, a video player, music player, photo gallery, kindle, the Chrome browser. Neither has the play store. The G1 explicitly states that you can not add apps, but I do not see that statement on the G3, though you may have to sideload them since the play store is not on the player.

Both the G1 and G3 have blue tooth 4.2, which is pretty old at this point, but functional. I believe they both have older processors. No information was available in "about device".. but, they bothj run Android 8.1, with the last security check in 2021.. have never had an issue with security, viruses... and I havbe used the G1 for years, and the G3 for months. I just use spotify and the music player, so I can't really tel if there's a security issue. Since I haven't used the browser much, so I am not really exposed to potential security issues.

In short, the player works well, is very easy to set up and to use. It runs smoothly. I have never experienced lag, or dropped signal. It is a very sturdy player.

It also has good build quality: plastic back with aluminum sides, glass touch screen which comes with a screen protector pre-installed, and I can (unfortunately) say that it works well, having accidentally dropped my player on a concrete deck more than once. There are hairline cracks in the screen, but the protector has prevented worse damage, and the player continues to work well.

At the current price I think it is a great buy.

Out of date OS and apps. Kindle would not download any books, claiming app needed updating. No way to update app.

Just stopped working

I thought this would be a great player. To play music while I was working with out getting notifications from my phone when I play music on my phone. But this thing just stopped working for no reason i used it 2 times. To late to return it have to go through the manufacturing company.

So sad....

Update: Keeping the 1 star rating. Seller was nice enough to reach out and, since my original product was still under manufacturers warranty, they sent a replacement. However, right out of the box, the new one has same, but worse, bluetooth connectivity issues. The thing is incredibly slow and apps are constantly 'not responding' and then the apps decided they do not want to open at all. So, now I have 2 nonfunctioning innoasis mp3 players instead of one functioning product. This is a very sad day. I would gladly send both players back to get my money back if that was possible. I am even more sad than before.

Bought last September and the bluetooth no longer works and it will not read the whole sd card. It just started randomly not showing all of my songs and will not scan/read the whole sd card. It has never been mistreated. It has never been dropped. It has always been in a protective case regardless. This mp3 had been pretty good until a month ago when the problem started. Unfortunately, I have not received any contact from anyone about the issue. I am very sad about this.

I

I have a question does this book have i…

Either you send the right SD card or refund my money!!!!!

The sd card won't lock in WTF!!!

Very very fragile

It’s a clunky product, but it definitely had what we wanted and did the job. We are postponing giving our 13 yo boy a phone as long as we can.

It broke after a 2 ft drop after having it for 3 weeks. If you buy it, be sure to buy protection, a case, or don’t ever drop it! Its pretty good, but I wish it had been built better

Sold as 160GB storage. Even said it on the box. Actual storage 32GB. Buyer beware. Not to mention it was as slow as paint drying.

Yes, I know I can use my phone as my main music player, but I’ve graduated from that phase. Now, I appreciate the merit of using a dedicated device for playing music, especially during specific activities like long walks, hikes, or cycling trips. This approach saves my phone's battery for essential uses and keeps it protected in my bag while I operate the more compact MP3 player, which fits easily on my arm or in my bag's tube compartment.

This player feels almost like a small phone in terms of form factor, weight, and overall feel. It’s slightly on the heavier side, being made of metal and glass. Running on Android 8, it has its limitations, but it’s more than adequate for its intended purpose — you’re not going to use it for work or browsing. It supports basic music apps and utilities like a calculator, clock, recorder, and photo gallery. Additionally, it includes Audible and ebook readers like Kindle, though I’m not inclined to read books on a small screen with average resolution.

The device is quite responsive for its size and price range. It connected easily to my router and Bluetooth headphones and plays even large audio files without lag. I appreciate that it supports most common audio formats, including lossless FLAC, AAC, and OGG. Impressively, it even plays WMA, for those who might still have that format in their library. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support TAK, but that’s understandable. It has a small internal speaker that I only use to quickly sample tracks when earphones aren’t available — unsurprisingly, it’s not suited for high-quality listening. The Bluetooth connection, despite being version 4.2, is stable and has a decent range. Battery life, if you manage screen brightness and Wi-Fi usage properly, lasts a long time.

Audible, which is crucial for me, worked well in terms of connectivity, performance, and controls. The absence of Google Play can be frustrating, but you can work around it by sideloading APKs (though YouTube and YouTube Music aren't available). I understand the parental control rationale, but it’s puzzling that the pre-installed Chrome version doesn’t default to safe browsing.

While frequent app downloads are unlikely, as you’ll set up your system preferences early on, it’s worth noting that the device’s system is stripped down to the basics. I don’t need anything more for a simple music player. However, I do wish there were more plain color options for the background; it only comes with one picture, and you’ll need to copy or download your own backgrounds if you want variety — even for a simple black background.

One nice surprise is the inclusion of an FM radio. I miss when phones had this feature! The player easily catalogs available stations, and you can start listening as soon as you plug in wired earphones. It can also record broadcasts, though that’s more of a nostalgic feature for me.

The build quality is impressive, with a refined finish that reflects its metal and glass construction. The device has a protective plexiglass cover pre-installed on the screen, so all you need to do is peel off the outer layer, leaving it protected and responsive.

The inclusion of a microSD slot for expandable storage is a major plus since 32GB isn’t sufficient for my music and audiobooks. Thankfully, it comes with a 128GB chip, giving it a total of 160GB of storage. I’ll likely upgrade to a 1TB card in the future when I find a good deal, but this setup works for now.

While the design is polished and the available colors aren’t overly flashy, I wish there were more neutral options like silver, black, or white. The current choices are pastel green, blue, and purple. Fortunately, the case I bought covers the device entirely, giving it a sleek black look.

Initially, I thought the price was a bit high for a regular, non-hi-res music player, even with its premium build. However, when considering comparable products, the included microSD card, total storage, screen quality, and battery life, the price feels justified. I’ll dock half a star for the minor issues mentioned (and the fact that the vinyl graphic on the music app annoyingly doesn’t animate while playing - see video). Overall, this Android player earns a solid recommendation!

Best yet

Love the small screen form factor for a dedicated audio player (DAP). This one hits the perfect balance of quality, affordability, and features.

The prior model (G1) was already great, especially since it’s the only one in its class that seems to support USB-C Audio.

Now the G3 provides more internal memory and more importantly the ability to sideload Android apps - so now Plexamp can run on it!

I hope the next model has better compatibility of USB-C Audio, support for Bluetooth LE Audio, and voice commands/assistant.

BROKE after 2 weeks, no one is responding to our claims

Worked great until 2 weeks after purchase, this screen popped up. We've done factory reset multiple times and nothing changed. We can't get a hold of the buyer or the insurance claim company, and are very disappointed. we DON'T RECOMMEND purchasing this!!

Glitchy

Came for Christmas was excited. Big let down for our 9 yr old. Wanted something that Spotify could play on. Was super slow moving from app to app and was glitching while streaming Spotify. Sent it straight back. Don’t waste your time. Buy USA.

A good mp3 player

I ordered this to transfer old ipod music to a new mp3 player. This player holds 3 whole iPods of music plus extras from the computer. You can get a lot of music in 128 meg of space.

The instruction booklet was not as helpful as it could have been. It was not written by a native English speaker so it was challenging at times to understand what the words meant. I experimented a LOT to get it to duplicate what the booklet mentioned. But that could have been because I didn't understand the instructions.

Even when I made a mistake deleting apps I would not use, I was able to reset the device back to its original settings and undo my mistake. That was very helpful. In case you aren't familiar with how to reset the device, I have attached a video to demonstrate what to do. No need to turn on your speakers to watch as there is no talking in the video.

One thing I need to mention is that the print is originally set to "micro-sized" print. It is seriously so small that the first thing I did after resetting the device was enlarge the print. You can do that by going to Settings > Display and looking for the font size setting.

One little hint: make sure you upload your music to the SD card rather than the internal drive. You will have much more room and won't waste time finding that out later.

This is a great little mp3 player. Its size is so convenient you could drop it in your pocket and use it throughout the day. I highly recommend it.

Very Nice Like an iPhone Running Android

Very nice player that runs Android and works like an iPhone. Has good earbuds and sounds great.

Nice Size

I love the size on this. It’s a bit heavier than my beloved Apple iTouch, but it’s also just a bit smaller, which means it can easily tuck into a pocket to be carried with. It includes wired headphones, but it supports Bluetooth and WiFi, so my earbuds are still usable.

I use my MP3 player primarily for Audible audiobooks, with a side dish of Kindle books and podcasts. I don’t do much surfing on these players, but it is nice to be able to check email and such if I’m expecting a package or waiting for other notifications.

This things hold a LOT of files. I’m not used to that, so I’ll be exploring options down the road.

I couldn’t find it in the advertising, but it measures 4.33 inches x 2.5 inches x .39 inches according to another review and that checks out.

Very good MP3 player

I’ve wanted an MP3 player for some time in my car as I wanted to keep my iPhone only for calling purposes. This MP3 player fits that itch very well. The gold color really pops out for me, screen quality could have been better but then again, its purpose is to play music and audio files. The chrome web browser is really responsive and I was able to go online and download pictures to set up as a wallpaper on this. The overall size reminds me of the iPods when touchscreen became more prevalent.

The 32 GB storage is very adequate, and they give you a 128GB microSD card for additional storage. I also transferred several audio files from my computer onto the microSD card. The single speaker on this is woefully bad, but Bluetooth headsets/ear pods are a necessity. The included wired pods are ok if you want to utilize the 3.5 mm wired connection.

Connecting this to my car’s audio system was easy and now I am able to play what I wanted in my car, and have my phone ready for any calls without any disruptions to what I am listening to. This also came with a screen protector which was nice, but it scratches very easily so be careful. What I wished it came with was a back case for it (one is available online which I ended up getting).

Overall, very nice MP3 player.

32 G player + 128G card

The Innioasis G3 is a good streaming digital audio player (and more). I have been using their premier player, the G1, for a couple of years. I was very happy with the ease of getting online, up and streaming... more or less instantly. Now, I could already do that with what is, for all intents and purposes, the standard bearer in low cost/ entry level DAPs. I started looking at other players because the one I had been using for years only lasted 2 hours with wifi and blue tooth on {In my experience the Innioasis can run for approximately 8 hours with wifi and blue tooth on.} There are other differences as well. My older player has some audiophile features: It is a high res. player with a dac, lossless blue tooth codecs.

There are now a lot of streaming players available, you could say, to suit every taste. The new Innioasis G3 is very close to their original G1. This player adds 720p video, a library app, an equalizer, and...

It sits on an Android platform (Android 8.1) which means that you can not upgrade preinstalled apps. It produces some interesting peculiarities in Spotify, for example, where things I put on my playlist are randomly replaced with covers or live versions (Spotify says it is a metatag thing). That does not happen on players running Android 11 (or newer). That can be interesting, and I have heard versions I was not previously aware of.

On the G3 they have also added higher resolution video (720p) and have multiple ebook readers, the Audible player is on both the G1 and G3, but the G3 has also added a new (basic) music player (for music you have downloaded to onboard storage, or your sd card, and it comes with a 128G card, which is a pretty solid amount of storage, but that still does not make it a 160G player because while you can store msic, videos, photos, and ebooks on the card, you can not run apps from it.

In sum it is a reasonably priced Digital audio player, video player, ebook reader, and more. For most people, this will satisfy your ability to stream music, play video, store and share photos, without putting a strain on your phone (battery).

I rated it 4 stars because I fall into the group of people with more audiophile leanings, and so prefer players with a dac, lossless codecs, to an array of other apps. For many people this will be a 5 star player. It is easy to use, has a very good build quality, great battery life, at a very reasonable price. There is a lot to like

{Note my second photo compares Innioasis older G1 player to the new G3 player (this listing).}

A great alternative!!!

This MP3 player is a great alternative for those parents that don’t want to invest in cell phones/iPad for their children. A bonus is that it looks like a cell phone, so kids don’t have to be worried about how it looks. It comes preloaded with various apps and you can download others. It has an android platform. It comes with a charger, SD card, USB-C. It is wifi and bluetooth enabled. Overall, a great little MP3 player for the price. I recommend it.

Battery Life - 4 stars

Easy to Use - 4 stars

Easy to Hold - 4 stars

Easy to add Apps - 4 stars

Memory/Storage - 4 stars (sufficient so far)

Sound Quality - 4 stars (sufficient, not overly bass heavy)

Very nice! And so compact! Sounds great and holds my entire audio library.

This is a very compact MP3 player, video player and ebook reader. It has 32 gigs internal storage and comes with an included 125 gig SDxc card. I really like the SD card. I stuck it into my computer and copied my entire 80,000 song library. Took a while! But very worth the trouble.

I've got all my songs in my pocket now! It comes with a nice user manual which came in very handy while I was figuring this thing out. It also includes stereo earbuds. Me, I use a high quality bluetooth headset. It has real bass and really clear sound, but... If you want to use the built in radio tuner you HAVE to use the earbuds because it uses their cord as an antenna! Not a big drawback by any means. I haven't tried yet, but I suspect I can listen on my bluetooth headset while the earbuds are plugged in.

One thing that's kinda funky is that this is an Android device. It THINKS the device is a phone, even though there is no phone. Basically, aside from that it seems to BE a smartphone! If you're an Android user, everything will be VERY familiar. There are a lot of installed apps, actually, and you can download more.CCThis player comes with a really wide assortment of apps for music, like Pandora, and an even wider set of apps for ebooks, including Kindle. You can actually play music without earbuds or a headset. It does have a speaker built in, but being a rather tiny speaker, the sound ain't all that great from the speaker. It does work though!

I've used Ipods. This is a LOT easier to use!

I did notice one drawback - sort of. You do NOT want to put your hands around the TOP of the device! That interferes with the bluetooth, and I use bluetooth all the time. Stick it in a pocket and you're good to go.

I really like this player. I'm listening to it right now, playing Christmas music in great fidelity. If you buy one I think you'll agree that this is a great gadget with great sound for all your favorite tunes.

...LATER... I use it tethered to my home theater amp via bluetooth. In that mode at least it is a battery HOG. It is probably best to turn it off when you're not using it. I don't know yet whether it is always a battery hog, or only when it is transmitting over bluetooth. That's not a drawback as long as you keep it charged. But remember to never let it go below about 30% charge because that ages the battery prematurely. On any lithium battery powered device, not just this one.

Not every product is a good product

I'm not changing my review. THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PRODUCT AND IS IN MY OWN WORDS. THERE IS VIDEO PROOF, TOO, SO I DONT KNOW WHY THEY KEEP DECLINING MY REVIEW.

When I first saw this device, I thought it would be perfect because I would be able to put my music apps and my game apps all on this device. And I wouldn't have to have it on my regular phone. When the device was delivered to me, I was even more impressed. It was a small device, not cumbersome it all. And it comes with earbuds and a 128 gig Mini SD card for extra storage/memory. I turned the device on, and it was at 96%. So fully charged, turned it on and saw that it had aps already loaded like Spotify. It also has a an App Store where you can upload other apps and you can go onto the internet through Google. Everything seems good, everything seems like it's going copacetically right? Wrong.

When I tried to download an app that I normally use on my phone, It made the motions showing that it was downloading it. And the next thing you know, the phone is going haywire! There were other windows that are opening, I see typing going on and I'm not even touching the screen. This is just going on by itself. I recorded it ... you can look at it in my video. It is wild and it was very scary. I am not going to be using this. I'm actually gonna be turning it back in or just destroying it. I don't trust this kind of device it seems like it's being controlled via a remote person and I do not recommend that anybody purchase this. Maybe it's just a bug or a defect, but this is very alarming. Oh, also, the only app that it would download properly was TikTok!! So do what you will with that information. I'm giving it a 2 star's out of 5. Because the device has a lot of potential and it has a lot of extras that come with it, so it looks really appealing, and it seems like a great purchase. But the experience that I had with this phone and the amount of alarming things that happened, I can't give it more than 2 stars.

Great music/video player

I got this because I'm tired of having my phone battery drain because I can't to listen to music. I was so pleasantly surprised that I can also watch videos on YouTube through the Chrome app on the device! This also comes with 3mm corded earbuds, though I've tried them with corded USB C earbuds and the player will play through these as well. Overall a lot of bang for your buck, if you miss the days of a phone and an iPod, this is the device for you!
