Works really well, definitely worth checking out.

I have used this now for several Zoom, Teams and Google Meets video conferences and it has been solid so far. It does have a great job of controlling the background noise during the calls when you adjust the settings. I have the Link Pro camera attached to it, while it took a bit of prying to get the plastic cover off, once you get the two linked, it works really well. I have been traveling with it and it works well, I just wish it was a bit lighter.

The Mac software has been solid so far, I just wish you could back the zoom from 1.0 to something less than 1.0x. I would buy it again though.

Review from a daily user

I used it for a month then write this comment. I think it is an innovation product and its compatibility with mac and window are great. The voice recognition could run locally to show on the screen in real time, which is astonishing for such a small size. The camera is even better than Logitech since it could change its length and focus in a smart way. Overall it is value for the money, especially for a remote-working man like me. However, I rate it 4/5 is because it’s AI face tracking algorithms is not that mature that it could easily lost tracking and turn to wired angle. And if I use tracking based on the sound source, it would not tracking in proper position accurately. So the sound source tracking hardware is not that good. Plus, one annoying thing is that, it’s noise canceling algorithms on the mic will remove the first few seconds of my sound in the meeting every time I start to speak, this affects a lot when I tried to raise questions to the others. This problem happens a lot for multiple mic hardware and might be able to optimize through next OTA

Crystal clear recording. Long sound reach with great clarity.

This microphone catches a lot of sound very clearly. When the device is turned on, the microphone moves up to expose an touch screen. The screen has prompts to start recording and other functions. It is easy to read and crystal clear. There is a suction cup on the bottom of the device to hold it to the desk. The device is a little heavier than others, and when it lifts, it becomes a little top heavy. The suction cup holds it down well, preventing it from falling over. Its own weight will not make it fall, but if it is knocked into, it could fall over without the security of the suction cup.

Setup was very easy. Just be sure to remove the packing materials, which includes black stickers on the device. The device quality is great. It is very well made, and easily comparable to big brand name devices. The touchscreen has the controls. It's easy to get a recording session started, just hit record in the center of the screen. The time is always displayed on the screen with the action buttons. You can also add their Link 2 video device on the top of the Wave device and they link to each other to work together.

The battery takes about 5 hours to charge and I have gotten a good 12 hours of usage time from the battery. The battery life is as described on the product page. The device easily plugs in to the computer with the USB cord to run and charge at the same time. I have really enjoyed using this device. I didn't realize how much I could use a microphone like this. I did not expect to use it to dictate letters and writing. It has become more useful than I expected it to be. It's a great value. It has become a device I use daily. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely Amazing and Versatile Speakerphone

It’s funny, but when I first turned the speakerphone on, I felt like I was viewing a product from the future. just the way that it raises up revealing the touchpad below is genuinely cool. The system itself is actually really easy to use. You can pretty much get the hang of it in no time. The functionality of this device is absolutely amazing because it does so many different things. Not only can you just use this as a speakerphone or microphone or voice recorder, but it also has software that can actually identify different speakers and help give you transcriptions of your conversations. Likewise, the battery life is good too. Overall, this is an unbelievably good value for the money. Very highly recommended.

Great even for a solo work at home person

This is an amazing device and I am going to summarize some of the highlights here:

Pros

- The mic quality is truly good — I used to use a condenser USB mic and the mic arrays in the Wave sounds almost as good, certainly good enough for conference calls

- The speaker is loud — in a good way. The quality is also good enough for watching YouTube videos, for example.

- The bluetooth range is very good when I use it to connect my iPhone 17 Pro for conference call. For my computer I use the wired USB connection

- The recording feature is the star of the show — it allows me to easily record a call with just a touch of the button.

Fun Features

- When you are recording a call, the recording is transcribed live and the text shows on the small display. I do not know if the transcription is done on device or via API calls to the web.

- The height adjustment on the unit is fun - I have it set to max height mostly so that I can use the touch screen better. However that means the start up time is slower.

Pro Tips

- Remember to set the mic pattern to fit your use case. When I am using it on my own, I set it to super cardio.

- Turn off the alert tone feature to disable the start up and shutdown music.

Annoying Features

- It needs a separate app for my Mac to control the Wave. Using the app is not required but helps

It is hidden in the app. If you sign up and ended up with a user interface in Chinese, there is a setting under your profile that you can use to change to English. Go to the account area.

- Pulling files off the device is not easy. I have to enable the USB file transfer mode on the device, then copy the files out.

- Similarly I think the only way to delete recordings on the device is to use the touch screen, which is hard to use.

- Alternatively, and I think this is the mode they want you to use - is to enable cloud sync. Then the recording is uploaded to the insta360 web platform. Then use the web portal site to view the transcript and AI summary.

- It is nice that they include a very thin USB dongle for connection. But USB-A in 2025?

Installation

- When you first plug the device in, it wants you to get the desktop application installed from the device storage — however that did not work for me. I couldn’t get the USB to mount at first. I ended up just googling for the software off their website.

- For my Mac — when I updated the desktop app it stopped working. I went back to the older version.

Great Design, Dynamic Sound

This speakerphone/recorder/microphone looks like it could be a prop in a science fiction movie, but it’s got a lot of bells and whistles that are quite impressive. First of all, the design and packaging are first-rate - opening it reminded me of getting a new iPhone. Downloading their software took a few tries and the instructions could be clearer, but my PC recognized it as a new device and I can easily use it as an option in Zoom meetings. The coolest thing is when you push the power button, the unit “rises” from its base a few inches while it’s “power-on” music plays. I’m not crazy about the base’s suction cup which works a little too well, making it a bit of a challenge to move around. But on the plus side, it will never fall over.

I haven’t used it the accompanying AI software which is supposed to summarize meetings. But as a speaker/mic, it’s excellent.

Great quality you'd expect from insta 360 products, beautiful design and great microphone.

I have several cameras from insta 360, the go 3s, RS with extra lenses, and a few of the x series-x2 and x5 and this microphone does not disappoint in the expectations that I have formed from them. Firstly the design is really nice, they clearly put thought and attention to the ascetic just as much as the function. Its really nice to see a product that has a focus on design and this one looks great but also functions amazingly. Its made well and you can feel it when you pick it up, its solid and the parts are clearly made with solid quality materials. Nothing on it feels cheap or flexible or likely to break. When you turn it on it lifts up exposing a small touch screen you can use to start recording or access settings and files etc. It has a very small base so it can fit into small spaces or not have to take up a lot of desk space which is nice. I recently had a loss in the family and I got this with the intention of recording conversations with friends and family about the loss and preserving some of those memories. Overall the attention to detail with this product is great and this is another great product from insta 360. Check out my photos or video for a closer look and I hope this was helpful.

Great for multi-speakers, though noise cancellation will muddy the quality.

I don’t know what I was thinking, but this is a pretty neat speakerphone!

I can’t keep my hands off of the newest tech, and I’ve always wanted to try out a speakerphone like this and this has a lot of features that work well enough—and then some. It’s well-built and durable, even including a nice case.

That being said, as a single person using this in a noisy environment (lots of fans from an HVAC, air purifiers, dehumidifier), it’s NOT an ideal solution, which makes it a bit less of a value for me.

This is clearly best suited for environments with multiple speakers as that’s where most of the tech comes in handy. It really does isolate the speaker’s voice (my voice), and allows for the selection of different modes to get a better pickup pattern. For me, alone, supercardioid is the way to go, but for 360 pickup, I’d use Omni -directional.

The reason why it disappoints is the AI noise cancellation is just about as good as anything I’ve heard. That is to say, it’s not really that great because it sounds like highly compressed Bluetooth audio. BUT, I admit that my voice still comes through clearly, and the noise in my room is suppressed. It just sounds unpleasantly robotic to me, to the point where I can’t see myself using the noise cancellation feature over a more properly positioned mic.

The other thing that irks me is that it doesn’t come with essential accessories. So you don’t get any cable to allow for simultaneous data and power, and this is really the ideal way to use it, in my opinion. And I find it disappointing that there’s no 1/4-inch threads to mount this on a tripod—that’s also a separate accessory. Those two accessories not being a part of this package reduces the functionality of this in ways that I think should have been included.

That being said, it’s tall enough to work at a desk setup and does work wirelessly, so it still functions quite well. And while the audio may not always sound professional or crisp, it does sound high-quality when properly set up and in a reasonably quiet environment.

As far as the other features, like the ability to pair it with a specific camera (not included) and the AI transcription (may require a subscription), these are neat, practical add-ons that are well-suited for an office environment.

Overall, it’s a nice speakerphone-mic with some cool features. Just don’t expect the highest, studio quality when using noise suppression.

Hope this helps!

Fantastic speakerphone!

Ok, so I’ve been using this insta360 speakerphone for about a week now and here are my initial thoughts. For the last 10 years or so, I’ve used a Jabra hockey puck (I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s a portable conference speakerphone that kind of looks like a hockey puck). The sound quality on that is pretty good and it’s super portable. This speakerphone, while technically portable (and comes with a nice travel bag), it’s not really small enough that I’d want to take it over my jabra when I go into the office. If I was hosting a podcast or something where having 360 audio and speakers or ai capabilities is important, then it would be worthwhile to take this one. I like that it can be run on batteries (or be plugged in) and has many connection methods to connect to your computer. It comes with a USB A dongle which I kind of find strange. The dongle comes with a usb c adapter…. I would have thought the standard is now usb c and the edge case requiring the adapter would be usb a. Not a huge deal though. I have asked my coworkers if they notice a difference in the way I sound or the overall audio quality… their answer is a resounding no. I will say though, I have been able to get up and walk around and have it still hear me well and not pickup background noise.

Overall, the build quality is great. It’s about the size of a large Red Bull can. I included a photo next to a can of water for scale. The speakerphone does some cool opening and closing sequence and has a neat touch screen… these are all very fancy and cool, but honestly, when I see these things, I just think “one more part to fail on me”. I can only imagine the motor dying or the screen breaking or something and suddenly having a paperweight.

To be honest I haven’t really used the Ai capabilities deeply. I tried them out and they’re neat. Reminds me of copilot which I already have through my employer. I suppose if you’re a podcaster or something, this functionality could be a game changer.

I’ve been enjoying the speakerphone so far. It is easy to use, high quality and very tech forward. I would recommend to any early adopters or people with specific audio requirements where people may be speaking from many different places in a room.

A second brain for all your meetings.

Overall I really like this product. The audio quality is great, the form factor and build quality is excellent. I use this as my desk computer speaker and whenever there is an online meeting it is already connected and ready to go as my speaker and mic. I can use it to record and transcribe the meetings so that I'm sure I don't forget any action items.

In addition to online meetings you can use this device for in-person meetings the same way. Just hit record and it will save the audio file locally until you get back to an internet connection so that it can be uploaded to Insight (Insta360 Wave Online Portal).

In short it is like a second brain for all your meetings.

Pros:

- Formfactor

- Build quality

- Flexible uses, computer speaker/mic, bluetooth connection to your phone speaker and mic.

- Built in storage and battery. Can be used to record meetings in locations that do not have internet or power.

- Directional mics (user configurable)

- touch screen controls.

- Adjustable height.

Cons:

- Setup was a little challenging. I believe this might be due to it being an ealry release product. I tried the included and onscreen directions and they did not work. I had to go to the Insta360 website and find the controller software download for my PC. Then because the Wave would not connect to my PC I had to force an update on the software I just downloaded. Then the Wave connected and started working. These steps are not outlined anywhere. I just stumbled into getting it working after an hour of trial and error testing. Hopefully Insta360 gets this straightened out on future releases.

Excellent Tools for Meeting!

I’ve been testing the Insta360 Wave for a few weeks during remote meetings and recording sessions, and it delivers clear audio that feels professional. The eight noise canceling mics do a good job at cutting background noise, and the AI transcription has been surprisingly accurate in different languages. I also like that it doubles as a voice recorder with plenty of storage, which makes it easy to review meetings later.

Setup was straightforward, and the compact design means I can take it with me for podcasts or livestreams without needing extra gear. It’s more than just a microphone it feels like a complete productivity tool for anyone who spends a lot of time in meetings or creating content.

Another Insta360 Win!

Insta360 is always at the top of the technology spectrum with every product they offer and it seems the Insta360 Wave is no exception. By combining top notch audio hardware with AI assistance they deliver a premium speakerphone set up that makes meetings, podcasting, and live streaming easier! They've combined noise cancelling and beam forming to create a microphone that is superior at capturing multiple voices from around the room while simultaneously reducing almost all the different types of background noise effectively. When you combine those features with the ability to transcribe in multiple languages you end up with yet another cutting edge product and win from this very innovative company! Great product and value!

Clear Audio & Smart AI Features in One Device

I’ve used plenty of speakerphones, recorders, and a bunch of the new AI voice recorders, but the Insta360 Wave is truly on another level. The 8-mic 3D array picks up voices clearly from across the room (up to 16 feet away), background noise reduction is excellent, and the AI pickup patterns really help whether I’m recording a podcast, an interview, or a conference call. Noise cancellation works extremely well too (see demo video/recording).

What makes the Wave stand out is the built-in AI transcription and meeting assistant. You get real-time transcription in multiple languages plus automatic summaries after meetings. The only downside is the subscription model. The free plan (300 minutes a month) is generous for casual use, but if you run a lot of meetings you’ll probably want a paid plan for extra minutes. Even without the AI add-ons, the Wave is worth it for the sound quality (Hi-Fi 48kHz detail) and 32gb of onboard storage. I also like the pre-record feature, which captures the last 5 minutes if you forget to hit record.

Build quality feels premium, just like other Insta360 products. When you turn the device on, the speaker "floats" up to reveal the screen. The touchscreen is sharp and easy to use for recording, switching modes, or uploading files. Setup is plug-and-play over USB or Bluetooth, and it pairs seamlessly with the Insta360 Link 2 camera for a full AV setup. I do wish it came bundled with the Link 2 since the integration is such a big selling point, but with the webcam at $200, a bundle would likely be pricey.

I recorded an audio test using the Wave and included it as a video attachment showing both the audio quality and how the live AI transcription looks on the touchscreen. I also added a screenshot of the AI generating a summary from THAT exact recording so you know what to expect.

At $300, this is a professional-grade tool that combines a speakerphone, USB speaker, voice recorder, and AI assistant into one package. If you do regular meetings, podcasts, or content creation, the Wave is a solid investment that delivers premium audio with useful AI features.

Very good speaker phone hooked to a transcription service model

The hardware is interesting.

When you turn it on, an actuator raises the top part with the mics and speakers to reveal a circular touch interface with a clock and basic controls.

The sound reproduction is very good and there is a handy noise cancelling mode for work meetings as well as a more natural sounding "live" mode.

It's a USB C device, cable included, and you can connect it directly to your Mac or PC for more control.

The weird part for me is it's actually a device that is part of a meeting transcription service, which has a monthly subscription fee. It defaults to the free tier but it's limited to 300 minutes a month.

I don't need the transcription service at all, but I did need a better mic and speaker combo for our small conference room and this is a good one. Excellent sound, a really well built and designed, responsive and easy to use controls.

If you need a device that can record and transcribe without needing extra software, this is a good one.

Because so many of the add-on services die for these products due to a flooded market... this would be more valuable if there was a simple way to have the recording and trascription done by the provider you are already paying for like Zoom and the AI companion or tl;dv.

Overall, this is perfect for a lot of specific use cases and delivers a ton of value from solid, dependable hardware.
