Good camera

A good webcam. Video is a touch too bright but that will depend completely on how much light you have. Very sharp video and the auto/manual focus works well. What makes this different is that you can point the camera straight down so you can share what you are doing on your desktop. The whole mount converts to a mini tripod which is a nice touch. You have to really kind of force the bottom part out though.

Wonderful Video

The video quality with this camera is A+, I use it for zoom meetings. My laptop camera went out (three months out of warranty of course) and I didn’t want to hassle with a repair so this camera came in very handy. The camera has a little weight to it it isn’t a cheap plastic thing. There is a privacy slide button in case you are concerned about someone hacking your camera. There are various settings available and setup was smooth and easy. This is a solid 5 star item.

Excellent 1080p images, manual focus is of limited use, worked w/Windows 11 but not 10

All things considered, I'd say this is a great camera. It provides excellent images and videos, despite being small enough to fit in a pocket when folded. The colors are brighter and more vivid than the real world colors, but I preferred the results over several integrated webcams that I compared it to. It does a good job even in low light settings, though some items in the distance took on a slight green tinge. The microphone quality was also excellent--I tested it by speaking in a normal voice at a distance of 30 feet away and could be understood easily in the videos that I recorded.

The User Manual states that manual focus can be used for distances between 15cm-100cm, but you aren't going to get any interesting "depth of field" effects. For instance: if you hold something like a pencil up in front of the camera and there's a person standing further away--and you focus on the pencil--the person in the background still looks to be in focus. The manual mode just gives wiggle room in getting precise focus on the pencil...and then holding that focus level steady even if the pencil moves a bit. It's not too useful when using as a webcam, but helps give sharp results for up-close things (like snapshotting documents).

The webcam was plug-and-play on a Dell with Windows 11 and worked with Zoom, Microsoft Team, the Microsoft Camera App, and a commercial program ("Debut"). But both a Surface Pro and Lenovo Yoga with Windows 10 did not register the webcam. I called the Technical Support number that was listed in the Instruction Manual and, after a short wait, I spoke to a representative who assured me that he had used the device with Windows 10 and had no problem. But we weren't able to get it to work for me--so if you only have Windows 10 computers, you might want to wait until such drivers are available to purchase this webcam.

The 6'8" USB charging cable isn't detachable and it doesn't come with a power block so you need to have or buy one. It does come with USB-C and USB-A plugs and both are attached to the charging cable which makes it is easier to keep up with them.

Great Dual-Purpose WebCam for Conferencing and Document/Desktop Sharing

The integrated webcam and microphone of my laptop were not providing the level of quality I desired for web conferencing, so I decided to look for a better option. I found the J5CREATE 1080P HD WEBCAM WITH MICROPHONE. Now, my video and sound quality have dramatically improved, and I like the many additional features. It has a 2-in-1 mounting clip so that you can use it as a conference webcam, or you can pivot the camera downwards towards your desktop and easily use it as a document/desktop camera (do a long press on the red button to flip the image and engage the manual focus). The base has a tripod-capable mount. There is a built-in magnetic privacy slide cover. It was easy (plug and play) to install. I am very happy with my Webcam upgrade!

Quality webcam, heavy and bulky, but does good.

This is large and heavy webcam. Has a manual or auto focus. It does as good as my laptops webcam and maybe a bit better. The sound on this is better than my laptop cam. The box is high quality and giftable for sure. It takes really good photos of documents, and will adjust for shadows and odd angles. This a great quality cam for a desktop computer.

I rated high due to the design and build.

I will admit that when I first decided to test this webcam out I was a bit leery of it due to the cost. It is expensive, so I had set up high expectations. So far, I’m impressed. However, I am also a bit torn on how to rate this camera. To start, every thing about this says "quality".

I am retired, but I teach conversational English to kids in China, using Zoom. I’ve also been teaching online for a very, very long time. That means I’m pretty darn good on determining camera abilities. This unit is extremely well designed and thought out. There are so many small details that this webcam has that other cameras simply don’t even consider.

The mounting bracket and system, it is superior. The manual/automatic focus is a really nice touch. The ability to easily pan/tilt works perfectly. The only thing it doesn’t have is a light, which to be honest I’m glad it does not as they never work well.

So, what about the image? This is a camera, so that is important. The image quality is a bit stark, but it is crystal clear. It is fairly wide angled, but you can use software zoom if you need to tighten it up. The colors are good and fairly true, but not perfect. Using a green screen with this requires more tweaking than a lower quality camera, due to its color profile and sharpness. If you are lazy, then this might not work for you. If you push for high quality transmission, then it can be very good.

As to sound quality, I never use camera mics, so I did not rate this area at all.

I said I was torn on how to rate, my reasoning is that in some ways the image is not quite as good as I would expect from a camera in this price range, but is far better than lower cost units. The upside is the design and build of the actual unit, it is superior to any other webcam I’ve seen and that includes units costing twice as much. I will reluctantly give this 5 stars. I’d give it 4.5 if I could.

I write all of my reviews to reflect my personal observations and opinions on a product. It matters not if I have purchased the item myself or if it was provided to me for review. My goal is to provide other potential customers as much real-world knowledge as possible to make an informed decision. In most cases I will return to my review in 6 months or less to see if I should alter my original observations. In no case will the cost of a product influence my opinions at all. In addition, I will try to include multiple images and or videos on each product, if practical.

Innovative Stand, Does Well in Low Light, Good Autofocus

I got this webcam to use for recording video of equipment on top of my desk. It seemed as if the manufacturer is marketing it for this purpose. I was curious about the stand for the camera and it is indeed unique and interesting. The camera can rotate 360 degrees on the stem where it is mounted. The section of the mount by the camera can slide out to make it longer and the bottom section can open like a clamshell to be used as "feet" for the camera. Extending the mount and rotating the feet allows you to get the cameral lens about 6 inches from the surface. If you want to go higher, you will need to add a tripod or something similar to the camera by screwing it into the tripod boss on the bottom of the mount. The focus is automatic when the green light is illuminated next to the focusing know. One of the photos shows it with the green LED, when you change to manual focus by pushing in on the knob, it turns orange which is shown in another photo and you focus by twisting the knob. I think automatic focus will work most of the time, but it is nice to be able to tweak the focus when needed. I tried the camera on my desk looking at the manual that was included with both no added desk light and with a desk light. I actually think the image may be sharper without the extra light. I took the photo of the box for the camera with no extra light and sitting on the floor (also the box is pretty dark colored) and I think it looks pretty good. It is nice to be able to get good images without having to augment the light too much. The mount for the camera, when folded back to use on the top of a monitor or laptop does not present any issues due to the "transformer" design, but it is somewhat heavier than most webcams, which might actually be a plus. The microphone is pretty average when you record with it, not bad, just nothing extraordinary. Overall, I like the camera for both desktop and web conference uses, although it will probably be single purpose for desktop use in my case.

Updates: 1. If you press and hold the focus button, it will flip the image which is very useful in the document mode. 2. They cable has both a USB C and USB A connector, so if you have a laptop with USB C only, the camera is ready for that.
