I did some updateing on my bluethooth, I paired the jbl extreme 5, with the boombox 4 . It's like my old e,re awoke,I have hi-end ee that was put out of service aii done in my sound room. So now e bluetooth my main listening source ,the jbl setup is, a dream ,sound is amazing, even on low.

Not perfect, but pretty darn close. As the owner of two pairing capable (left & right channel) Aiwa Exos 9 bluetooth speakers for 7 or 8 years, I have been very pleased with them. They are still very capable of holding down a party. On a vacation visit to family I stumbled onto the JBL Boombox 4 bluetooth speaker. By chance I during a birthday celebration 🎂 I asked if I could connect to my friends JBL BB-4 to my cellphone to play my reggae playlist. Wow! 👌🏾 👏 😍 👍🏽 🥰 ☺️ 👌🏾. Awesomeness ensued. I had to do a comparison as soon as I returned home. OMGoodness, Wall shaking 🫨 😳 music came from the JBL'S that my Exos 9's could not reproduce. I immediately purchased a second. This time a black one. The available JBL Portable App is all you need to equalize, connect, create a left & right channel and more. Ok, you get it, I love these new JBL's. Finally, again I love the app. A day or so ago I could not get the brown speaker to connect using all the standard pairing tricks. Shut down, unpair etc. The app saved me as it gave me trouble shooting steps that if the speaker fails to connect to do a factory reset which got me back to enjoying these beasts. These are truly great speakers with sturdy build quality feel and great looks. Mobile High Fidelity 🎶 🎵

This thing is amazing. The bass it produces is nice. It's very loud and clear. Make sure you update the firmware via the app. A lot of people will say it distorts etc on YouTube but I'm pretty sure it was when this speaker was released. I have two Partybox 100's, but they are not as portable as this. The boombox 4 also hits lower bass notes than my party boxes. I also recently purchased a Flip 7 and Charge 6 which all pair together. The other two are great also, but lack the deep bass I crave. The other thing I like is the fact the battery is easily replaceable. I've replaced a battery on an older Charge 3 but it never worked well or sounded the same (random pops and connection issues). The picture shows the size compared to a charge 6.

Coming from a Boombox 3 Wi-Fi, I'm disappointed in the sound quality, however it was expected based on research. Although I don't ever use the 3 on wi-fi for better quality, its very obvious comparing the two even without the wi-fi.
But, I rarely use this indoors. I usually use my Xtreme 4 indoors for ebooks and casual music, and the Wi-Fi eddition of 3 lacks the ability to sync speakers. I want to for example place the Xtreme 4 on the other end of an area for local meetups, festival campground trips, etc.
I bought this for the louder bass, primarily outdoor use, and being able to sync the two speakers, as well as being lighter than the boombox 3. For my usage, the lower sound quality isn't as important, but it's VERY noticeable side by side.
You may want to consider a Boombox 3 if audio quality is most important to you, as the 4 lacks in mids. Its all bass and highs. And they can currently be obtained for much lower prices.
If your desire is outdoor usage and bumping bass, this might be for you. I'm still very disappointed in the sound quality, but I'll probably keep it and sell the 3 to a lowballer on marketplace.
Also on the bass boost settings, its quite low with it turned off. Which is a good thing, being able to tone it way down but still have some volume... Ex: When that 9pm or 10pm noise restriction kicks in lol.
Note: my Xtreme 4 easily connects to the other speaker and so far appears to work great, at least at short distances. I'll be testing them shortly at local juggling / "flow" meetups.

Excellent Bass, haven’t cranked it yet because it was late when we arrived at our hotel. It pairs very nicely with my Xtreme 4 with the Auracast and there’s no issues with lag or crashing like the PartyBoost. It sounds incredible in the dialogue with the Bass Boost off—perfect for hotels.

Muy buen producto, pese a las reseñas que vi en videos de internet que cuando lo pones al volumen al 100% distorsionaba, pero con un actualización ya mejoró. La batería no dura como indica el fabricante, pero tampoco le voy a pedir mucho por la potencia que entrega, en volumen al 70% dura como 6 horas

🙋🏾♂️I’ve owned the original BoomBox 1 since 2019. I had that battery and brick replaced in February of 2023 and that thang never lost any of its sound quality over that 4yr period. Sadly those replacement items just gave out on me on February 3,2026. I contemplated replacing the battery and brick once again because the speakers were still grade A in sound quality…but then I saw the Boombox4 and thought,”why spend another $200 when I’ve already done so?” I paid $499 for Boombox1 so I wasted no time ordering Boombox4 and I’m thrilled to see that the engineers have designed the 4 without a brick and that it’s charging system automatically shuts off once it reaches 100%. This was the only issue I had with the original Boombox1 and now I look forward to YEARS of usage. I’m a FedEx courier with a rual route and I spend 12hrs a day out there on the road! JBL Boombox4 has no issues keeping up with my demands…just like the original. Come to think of it,I’m going to get the battery and brick replaced on the Boombox1 and keep it as well,salute JBL…I am your #1 supporter ✊🏾🖤

That said, If you’re about bass the boombox 4 is for you! Upgraded from a pair of Charge 6s and thought they were the bomb. Still are but ya can’t compare apples tomatoes. The boombox 4 also have changeable battery pack, power cord

Absolutely exceptional! 100% the best speaker jbl has created. Also 110% the absolute best PORTABLE Bluetooth speaker on the market hands down. I have the boom box 1/2 didn’t see hype for the 3 so never bought it held out for whatever was to come and in glad I did. This thing bumps the bass is insane. Keep in mind you need to play around with the position in your home on where this speaker sounds the best I say that because I a lot of people don’t understand sound acoustics lol if you get it in a corner and have it on bass mode. Whoa… it’s a lot.
It’s light weight. It will be used daily.
Caution *** if you live in an apartment may want to get the smaller one. Haha just messing. But seriously she bangs and sounds so dang good. BUY IT

Updated- they fixed the distorting and intermodulation issues with a firmware update for the most part, still can distort slightly but much better sounding and preforming now

The clarity and highs are really great on this thing but the bass will distort and the drivers are way over powered, it has intermodulation issues as well, until they fix it with a firmware update i can't recommend this speaker, especially not for 550$ a speaker this expensive should not distort

I would like to start this by saying that I’m having to rewrite this as my first one violated community guidelines so I guess. But I wanted to preface that I have owned at least 1 of every generation of the JBL Boombox Series (1 OG BB, 2pair Gen 2, 2 pair Gen 3, 2 for the current JBLboombox 4!!
I’m also extremely into audio and technology and speakers are an expertise of mine! I personally think that this was the biggest leap forward in the series and although I am still disappointed we reverted back to a 2-way system instead of the pioneering 3-way set up and that is a bummer but as far as feeling the music, want bass? Can’t get enough. These Boombox 4 CRANK that low Freq and can sustain a sub 40 Hz base note on battery for extended periods of time. I had no idea that physics would allow such a small item to create base like it does and that’s given proper acoustics of the room of the hallway ~~you know, you put your speaker somewhere and you’re like it sounds the best right here. That’s the soundstage (ish) but wow! The two base boost options are awesome and remind me of the OG BB with what was called “home and outdoor mode”
When I’m rocking my stereo pair of Boombox 4s I basically always have the bass boost feature turned on the deep base (mode 1) and the other option (mode 2) is to have “punchy base” however I don’t recommend that one. Overall super happy with Bluee & Squad box! I will say that the only lighting feature on it is to me a very useful and fun incorporation of LEDs into a portable speaker as the color whether orange or white will show you from a distance what bass mode you’re in but also, you can verify it by a glance and rockin’ these dark orange glows, white punches or nothing at all. :)
Oh and the Original JBL I got in 2017 is still working like a charm in a buddy’s garage of mine (battery is shot, must stay plugged in to use)
But JBL will last a long time, there’s such a big variety to choose from on the Bluetooth market these days that you can find a speaker for any size occasion or prefer preference.
Lastly…✅✅✅✅ AURACAST ✅✅✅✅HAS BEEN FLAWLESS!! 🤩 as I had connection issues with every type of linking JBL’s had to offer since Connect… so JBLs Connect, Connect+, partyboost, ect ….. no good! ESPECIALLY in a dang stereo pair. Now when I turn on both speakers, they automatically link into stereo mode and it is simple as can be and they haven’t even hiccups once for the hundreds of hours they’ve played music already.
