Good quality.
Sounds very nice it has stereo sound doesn't have too much base but it sounds great. It has a very large volume capacity. I like this product I think it's worth the money.

It isn’t as loud as I expected it to be! I personally feel like my JBL FLIP 4 was much louder. I love the color. The bass is cool. Just didn’t meet my expectations 😩😩.

Brand new and already doesn’t charge!
I literally just bought this speaker at the end of August this year. I charged it fully and have only used it one time. Since that, my son plugged it in to recharge it yesterday and this morning it still shows only 1 of 5 white lights for battery power left. And of course I just missed the return window for this speaker. JBL you have to do better.

(UPDATE) SO AFTER 2 WEEKS! IM EVEN MORE HAPPY WITH THIS SPEAKER! I think I've only charged this thing 2 times in the 2 weeks I've had it and I didn't even need to! I use it for about 8 hours a day also! I'm watching or rather listening to shows on my tablet while I work! So music may drain the battery faster but I've only had it get down to above half battery life! I also use it at home sometimes at night I'll fall asleep with it connected to my projector and thr battery is amazing! I throw it in my drone back with a bunch of other cameras and stuff never looks dirty or scratched o haven't dropped it yet and I hope I don't but it feels like it can handle a few good wasit level drops on solid ground before anything would happen! I hope the charge 5 and this one pair in party mode when I get that one!
I needed a portable speaker in the shop sometimes I have to go outside and work and sometimes I just don't like the full system I have banging around tbis is perfect super clear sound sometimes I even hook my TV to and and set it next to the couch so I don't bother anyone else amd I can hear what people are saying because the crisp sound! I'm a very huge bass head but I like the fact that this doesn't sound muddy and over saturated with low end!
(After a Week) I'm still loving this thing! The battery life is amazing! I ran my tablet at work on it for 2 days and charger the tablet from it the whole time and it only dropped one little dot / bar of battery in 2 days I wasn't running it super loud and a lot of what I was listening to was just talking but I listen to shows while I work so the screen was running on my tablet the whole time as well! I like it i haven't dropped it or gotten it wet yet but seem very sturdy! It hasn't gotten scratches or beat up in my work bag at all either! I plan on buying the charge 5 now hopefully I can get them to link together in party mode somehow!

Great sound, bulletproof durability, amazing battery life.
My wife bought me this as a surprise. We needed a speaker for out by the pool/hot tub and something loud enough to be heard throughout the back yard. This was much better than I could've hoped for. The battery seemingly lasts forever once you get a full charge, it's waterproof, I've dropped it a few times and it doesn't even have a scratch on it. What's great is it can be used with basically every device. We do outdoor movie nights and I just connect my firestick to the speaker. Once connected to anything, you just power it on and it connects automatically. Highly recommend.

It helps Me hear the tv better
Getting older I realized I could use a little help with heating the TV, I can hear it but I have to turn it up pretty loud, but instead of waiting until the neighbors to start complaining I decided to get a Bluetooth enabled speaker not realizing the my TV, was not a Bluetooth TV, but this speaker did have a headphone jack and it works wonderfully well.

I was looking at the Charge 5 & Charge 4.
The Charge 5 being the new model of course has some upgrades that makes it "better".
But it's also $180 at the time of this review.
And the Charge 4 which REALLY sounds awesome and is loud enough to fill a decent sized room pretty well. Sound is well rounded especially for the cost. Which is currently about $90.
Is the Charge 5 worth double the cost? Definitely NOT.. The Charge 4 is built very well and even stands better on surfaces. With the Charge 5 the bottom isn't sturdy enough in my opinion leaving the speaker more likely to roll/topple over.
I pictured the Charge 4 next to my tiny Sony Speaker that I use in the bathroom which goes for about $45 and is no where near as powerful as the Charge 4.
If you are looking at both Charge Speakers right now and debating. In my opinion, I do not feel you will be missing much of anything going with the earlier Charge 4 model. And could buy 2 of them & link them together giving yourself 2 Speakers for the price of 1 Charge 5.

Upgrade from a Charge 3
I use to have a pair of Charge 3s for about 4-5 years and loved them. I took them everywhere I could the beach, rafting, picnics, BBQs, and tailgating. I eventually gave them to family and decided to upgrade to Charge 4s as the Charge 5 was too expensive and I already owned a Xtreme 2 (Connect+ life problems). I got to say I love them more than the 3s. Bass is amazing, for some reason it’s fuller and travels further. The battery life is the same but I’m starting to think it maybe better than the 3s as I’m always shocked how much battery I have left after using it. It isn’t a huge upgrade but it’s definitely noticeable. I’ve owned these for about 6 months now and I hope they last me as long as the 3s did which are still going strong after being gifted to my family who works home renovations.

Alright first of all the reason I'm here writing this is I lost one of these off the bed of my truck at about 25mph on an asphalt road. It dropped rolled and bounced into the ditch and I found it a few hours later. (see video) now first thing I thought was this thing's toast. Nope! Not this speaker! Dang thing fires right up and goes right back to playing solid sounds! I love these speakers, I have since day one. I'm here after a year of pretty consistent use to say I still love these speakers. Battery life is great for the sound they put out. The connectivity option to listen with multiple at one time is the reason I bought them and I love that. 10/10 would buy again! Jbl or bust in my book.

UPDATE Aug 2021: After 13 months steady use, I still really like this speaker. It sounds great for a small speaker, and is still my daily driver (heh) for listening to music.
BUT... the battery has started getting "odd" after the year mark. Occasionally it starts discharging. Not using it (or even leaving it off) doesn't help. It goes all the way to empty (blinking the whole while as if charging) before finally charging back up. That makes for a disconcerting "speaker might not work today" effect. When the battery is empty, it won't play at all (turns off), apparently no circuitry to bypass an empty battery.
I swapped charger & cable only to have it recur.
The pattern, its irregularity, and its recency tell me the likely culprit is the circuitry that regulates charging. Alas there's no mechanism for firmware updates.
If it doesn't get any worse, I would still buy another one-- it's been that good. I expect to get at least 2 years use (preferably much more) from a premium bluetooth speaker. I'll report back if the problem worsens...

This is my daily music speaker. It's "big" enough to fill a large room by itself, and is well-balanced for music (heavy on the bass). It's substantial (build), stays reliably connected (bluetooth), seems to charge smartly.
If you're considering their Flip5 instead (and want just one speaker), get this one instead. The Flip5 only preferred if weight is your primary concern.
Pros:
* Much bigger sound than expected
* Visual battery indicator
* USB-C charging
* Easy bluetooth pairing. Stays paired consistently with my Google Hub
* Can pair with multiple sources, no need to clear the last pairing
* Solid sound. Situated in the middle-ish, it easily fills the 40-foot wide open-floorplan downstairs of my home
* Easily visible controls & charge indicator
* Seems to charge intelligently, so it's no constantly charging, and goes to sleep when not in use.
Negatives:
* Very boom-y, weak mids, no onboard EQ
* No case
* On the heavy side if you're traveling with it
* I did not evaluate linking up multiple speakers
The one big caveat is how boomy this speaker is-- and it can't be tuned, you'd have to modify the source output instead. So if your primary use is classical music or human speech, consider other speakers.
But for music, I love this one after nearly 4 months heavy use! Highly Recommended.

The product is proving to be GREAT so far...
I bought a "like new" speaker, but before I made my purchase, I contacted the seller and basically asked why the product was classified as "like new." Their response: "Item is inspected and 100% functional. There's a 30 day return period." I took a chance; the only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating is because my speaker arrived VERY POORLY PACKED; I consider myself lucky the speaker is of such superior quality/durability, because delivery people don't make a habit of handling packages carefully, and the "protection" provided amounted to some shredded foam (from an original box) thrown-in a regular shipping box with the packing bubble wrap. EVERYTHING had shifted in shipping; there was no effort to secure the bits of packing material to protect the unit. And, it arrived with NO user manual or operating instructions of any kind. I had to go on YouTube for a tutorial, and to JBL's site for a manual download. So, 5-stars for the product itself; actually, I'd give the shipper 3 stars, but I don't want the overall rating to reflect poorly on the product itself. JBL is THE TRUTH!

Light weight good sound easy to pair
I love it for the pool and parties. I love the colour and the quality of the sound. Previously I got a Bose but I preferred to give it to my mother and keep this green one.

My first JBL speaker, I was surprised and pleased at the sound quality. Clear sound with great bass. Battery life is incredible, I charged it once and took me the entire week with great sound.

Phenomenal speaker
First of all the price of this speaker is cheap for the quality sound that your getting! This speaker sounds amazing! The build quality is great and the fact that is waterproof and you can charge your phone from it is an added bonus! So happy I got it! The only downside to me and this is just me being picky and annoying is that I can’t see the battery percentage on my iPhone but it does show it on the bottom of the speakers with little LED dots. GET THIS SPEAKER YOU WONT REGRET IT!!

This speaker sounds great 👍Thumpy punchy and in certain instances has deep booming bass. Mids n highs are clear. Could be a little more crisp and of course have more bass but it is a full rich sound and using an EQ brings out more of its capabilities. JBL quality construction.
I was on the fence about buying this because they went to a mono driver but you can't really tell a difference in fidelity. You can tell the bass is slightly deeper than the Charge 3. Completely happy with it and love the green color. 😉
One thing i do not like is they took away the speaker phone. Put the speakerphone back. That's a thing I like and is missing on this. 🤨 As for connecting to older speakers with connect you can update the older speakers to connect plus to connect with the Charge 4.
UPDATE: Liked it so much I got another one. 😁 Camo. These sound great. It actually has bass. 👍 No issues with connectivity or battery. This is the best speaker in this class or category. There are some that come close but these can't be beat. The price hike is a downer. Don't know what's going on there. $179? That's crazy. Got these for $99 and that's what they should be. Seems getting good reviews helps their sales and they take advantage by jacking up the price. 😐 Not cool. At $179 they aren't that great. I would expect more at that price.

update: stopped making any sound
UPDATE: after 1 year of not so actively using it, does not make any sound. We did not use it much, I had to charge battery once or twice in total. The last time battery died and after charging it, it does not make any sound at all. (I think it was a second time I had to charge) Other functions like bluetooth, light and +- buttons are working though.
Tried to upgrade software by downloading and connecting mobile app, but no result whatsoever.
I am really disappointed about that, do not even know what to do keep it or get rid of it

easy to use, descent sound quality and battery performance.
Usability: bluetooth connection -easily discoverable, easily usable even for non-tech-at-all people
Sound Quality: Bass and high notes sound clear with very pleasant deep bass.
Battery Performance: I do not know if that is a standard, but my one was decently charged right from the box and played for several hours non-stop without any additional charge. Battery charges fast and lasts as promised.
P.s. will need special cover / holder for it to carry and keep safe&comfortably
Would highly recommend.
