My little JBL Speaker is awesome. It links via Bluetooth right to my phone and I can enjoy some smooth JAZZ while I am working.

Great portable speaker, but no charging cord in box.

Bought for work. The speaker itself is great, but it did not come with a charging cord.

I bought it before looking at the reviews, but while looking at the reviews it sounded weak, but lemme tell y’all it ain’t. I opened it up and it was small which is nice but it’s beautiful like it’s loud, it’s clear, literally can take it anywhere it doesn’t even have any weight to it.

Calidad

Nice light display & compact

It sounded good when it was on display at one of the retail stores. I know I got the right one because I took a picture of the display model number and now that I have it, it sounds a little different. I don't hear the clear crisp instruments and the bass. I played the same song as the retail store (on my Galaxy S24 plus) & I made all the adjustments on the app and it's not what I expected. I may consider returning it.

Very impressed

Thus speaker really packs a punch. I have the Clip 5 and the Go 5 but the Grip is much better.

Great Purchase

I love the color and the speaker itself. I’ve always wanted a JBL speaker, but I kept putting it off because of the price. I finally grabbed this one on Prime Day while it was on sale, and I’m so glad I did.

The sound quality is amazing—you can hear every beat and every vocal clearly. I use it during my open gym volleyball sessions, and it gets plenty loud while still sounding crisp. It’s also lightweight, compact, and easy to toss in a bag, making it perfect to take anywhere.

Definitely worth the purchase!

Great Speaker

Great speaker! They are smaller now use the C charge port to charge it, sound quality is great. I got an orange one so I don’t lose it. Highly recommend!

Cute and great sound for the size.

Great little speaker, at first I didn't like the sound but it notified me that JBL has an app. I downloaded the app and used the custom equalizer and set it up to where now it sounds great. I was also able to change the light functions and rename the device through the app.

Love the design!

Obsessed! JBL has always been one of my favorite speaker brands. Very reliable.

Great protection

Warps around the device easily. The clip will work on a belt loop. Like to carry it that way while walking around neighborhood listening to podcasts

Great color and another speaker option for cycling.

16 watts from Grip. When paired they deliver a full stereo sound with quality bass and treble high end.

The lights are a nice touch but probably drain the battery charge faster.

Excelente sonido

Muy buen producto, el tamaño es como el de una lata de gaseosas, un poco más grande es cómoda para llevar a cualquier parte que tú quieras, le puedes poner un gancho para poder colgarlo en tu mochila, no es tan pesada, cabe en una de tus manos, es fácil de cortar a donde tú quieras

small speaker, big voice, perfect for audiobooks

i’ve been using this speaker for almost six months now, which feels like plenty of time to know whether something earns a permanent spot in my daily routine. this one absolutely has.

the sound quality is fantastic for such a small speaker. vocals are especially clear, to the point where audiobooks sound like the narrator is sitting right next to me. it gets plenty loud without distortion, and the clarity is what really sets it apart for spoken word.

my main use case is travel, especially rental cars. i carry two phones, one for business and one personal. i use the business phone wired into the car for navigation and music, and connect my personal phone to this speaker for audiobooks. that setup lets me listen without interruptions, notifications, or bluetooth issues from unfamiliar cars. it’s honestly perfect for that.

the size is ideal. it fits neatly in a car cup holder, feels solid, and is easy to grab. the red color is a big plus for me since i tend to lose black gadgets in car consoles and bags. this one is easy to spot.

battery life has never been an issue. i often use it plugged in, but even when i don’t, i’ve never had it run out. it’s been completely reliable.

my only real complaint is the app requirement. if you want full access to features like checking battery level or adjusting the ambient light, you need to install the app, which i simply won’t do. the speaker works fine without it, but functionality is limited. i wish there were physical buttons to change the light color or check battery status directly on the speaker.

one small note: the startup sound always plays when powering on. i’m not sure whether that can be changed through the app, but it’s something to be aware of.

that said, for how i use it, this speaker is awesome. i use it daily, trust it completely, and would replace it immediately if i lost it. small, loud, clear, durable, and genuinely useful, and an excellent value for my money.

Excellent little speaker!

I have bought my 17-year-old several little speakers over the past few years but this one is definitely the best one! I had been avoiding JBL because they're so pricey and had been buying him less expensive speakers. I regret that. Now! There's a reason why JBL costs more. It's a far superior speaker! He carries this little thing everywhere with him. It even goes in the shower with him! I have it pictured with the silicone carrying case, that does not come with the speaker. I had to buy that extra and honestly I would highly recommend it!

Loud, but wonky app and disappointing bass performance

Entry-level compact Bluetooth speaker that gets remarkably loud for its size, but falls short in delivering a premium sound experience. Pairs quickly and easily with any Bluetooth device with a single button press. You get basic functionality right out of the box but need to download the JBL app to access other features. The app is necessary for controlling the light show or using the sound equalizer - for these features it works fine - but the app itself has a bunch of other issues. Even if you're already paired to the speaker the app can't seem to find it unless you grant permission to 'detect nearby devices', which is intrusive and unnecessary. Once you're paired the app asks you to 'connect to the speaker' at odd and unexpected times, even if you're already playing music. None of this affects the overall operation of the device, but it's obnoxious and disappointing. The app also provides access to advanced features that use multiple speakers, which I haven't had the opportunity to try.

The other disappointment is the sound quality. I mean, for a small speaker under $100 I don't expect much but the bass is almost non-existent. Like the speaker's not even trying. In the mid- and high- range it does better, but is still a little muddy. It will be fine for carrying your tunes to a friend's house or something, or heaven forbid sharing your music with folks on the subway, but it doesn't provide the same 'premium' sound experience I've gotten from other JBL products.

"Blue" color is subtle and barely differentiable from black. The picture in the product description is accurate.

Overall I'd give it a "not bad". The app is wonky and the bass is disappointing. If you're looking for premium sound you'll have to save your pennies for a higher end model.

JBL R.O.C.K in the USA

....Nose used to be my go to for Audio. JBL now has my attention. As you can see. The JBL Flip 7 is my next must have. The Grip and GO 4's are just ducky speakers. The Go 4 is an amazing speaker for its size.

Nice Sound in little package. Controls are intuitive for Play/Pause and volume up and Volume Down.

The JBL Grip speaker, is currently the winner in sound quality. It is well made with a rubber feel. Holding down on the - or + controls the volume, and the play button pause or Plays audio. It was very easy to hook to bluetooth. Both my 2021 moto g Power phone, and simple mp3 standalone player, were able to hook up to the JBL Grip. And once it was hooked up the speaker was able to fill a large room with a wall of sound. The glowing light on the back of the cylinder was aesthetically pleasing.

If you are looking for a podcast or audiobook speaker, this probably isn't it as the music controls on the speaker are limited to -, Play, + . If you are going to use your phone to control the audio, then it wouldn't make a difference. With sound of this quality, it is a shame to not use it for music. It uses a USB-C charging port on the back.

great portable small speaker that's gets really loud for its size

If you're looking for a really good small compact speaker, this is your go to speaker. This bad boy can be easily griped in a normal sized hand and will blow your mind with the amazing audio output. It's has about 12 hours of playtime plus about an additional 2 more hours from a feature it has built in that's controlled by the JBL app. The Grip speaker is also waterproof and dust proof so that's a great feature also to have for a speaker with powerful audio output. This speaker is great for anywhere and everywhere you would love to listen to your music, you can use it at home, take it to work, take it to the park, take it to the beach, take it camping, take it on the boat, take it on a cruise. you can take it here, you can take it there, you can take it everywhere. JBL also has a cool app you can pair with the speaker to change the color of the light, change what the light does which is a few different movements the light can do and the brightness level of the light. You can also change the equalizer of the audio output within the JBL app also which is a cool feature so you can change how the music sounds if you would like to. I would recommend the JBL grip to anyone and everyone would like a small portable speaker that has a powerful punch, when it comes to the audio level for its size and portability and the amount of time it will run off of one charge up.

Great speaker with quality sound.

Excellent sound. Like the light on the side. Perfect size. Just got it today so I haven’t had a chance to test how long the battery lasts. I am disappointed that it doesn’t come with a charger. For the price, a charger should come standard. I have the JBL clip and love that one, too. (The clip came with a charger.)
