I don't know how good the speaker itself is. I can tell you, it did not fit into the 2012 Honda CRV EXL.
I tried for 2.5 hours to get it to fit the speaker cavity to no avail. The first picture is the cavity I was dealing with. The second picture is with the spacers on. As you can see the area that narrows will not allow the body of the speaker to fit into the cavity. I was really looking forward to having these speakers.
My rating is for the mere fact that according to all the information, which stated it should fit, including whether or not it fits your make and model by using your license plate to look up your vehicle, it does not fit.

I replaced my F150's factory speakers with the JBL GTO 629s. Installation was very easy being that the order came with the fit ring adapter. Amazing! Especially amazing was that the adapters were only about an 1/8th inch thick which allowed for plenty of clearance between the speaker and the interior door panel. I ended up using the JBL speaker cover to give it more security and solid installation.
Once powered (no amp), the sound was superb. High tones were very clear (tweeter), mid tones where crisp and not dull to the sound, and has bass kick was excellent. Even without an amp they sound amazing.
Excellent value for the money.

Installed these in a can am defender. They sound great even without an amp! Would recommend these to anyone who is looking for 6.5’s

Speakers pack a great punch without feeling like I need more bass. Great audio, easy to install, price fit my budget.
Installed 4 onto my Chevy and will be installing onto my other trucks. JBL is definitely the way to go with audio products

This isn’t a perfect fit for a 2017 Jeep Wrangler, even with the bracket included in the package. You’ll need to drill a new screw hole into the speaker case of the Jeep. But, if you’re comfortable using a drill, you’ll be fine. I’m impressed with the sound quality; it has good bass and is a significant improvement over my stock speakers. You can’t go wrong with JBL speakers.

07 Chevy Tahoe. Installed a week ago and I’m very happy with them. Only ordered 2 at the time to try them out because reviews on here are sketchy. Will be ordering 2 more today for the rear doors as well. As a lot of people know, Chevy, around 2007, had failing door speakers more common than not. I ordered these GTO series and I am pretty impressed with the overall sound. They would sound great with a factory head unit but even better if you have an aftermarket to adjust your EQ like I did. I enjoy very loud rock, heavy metal but also listen to dark trap and country if it has a good story. The GTO series deliver clear highs, even through the door panel cover, and even has a decent bass for being 6.5” speakers. Haven’t heard them crack or pop from over excursion yet but again, EQ is adjusted understanding they’re not meant to shake the truck apart lol
Also, I uploaded examples and drew green lines where to cut since Chevy used a goofy plastic basket/mounting bracket for factory speaker.. the JBL fit nice with factory speaker cut out. Very easy. Pre-drilled 1/8 holes in plastic and used the Allen screws that came with the speakers. Use some 3M foam tape as a gasket to prevent rattling sound or air leaks. Rear speakers should be here tomorrow so may take pictures this time to give a better understanding of anyone is curious.
4 stars because I’m a realist. They’re not a 5 star speaker. They’re a budget speaker and sound fantastic for $85. If you want 5 star speakers then go pay $250+ for low grade components.
After the rear door speakers I will be adding a subwoofer and lowering the bass on these JBL and expect them to sound even better as a mid/hi.

The speakers are a dream. I mount myself over a old vw beetle 2006 replacing the original ones. What a difference. What a quality. What a bass. No ugly sounds anymore. I have paired for now with some older version of kenwood speakers on the back and sincerely I can feel and hear the difference. Clearly I will need next to replace them as well.
The pioneer player is powerful enough to blast these speakers with a high end sound quality.
Thank you JBL for these amazing speakers quality. Finally I can enjoy my rides listening as well as blasting great quality music.
Bass is great, unfortunately the beetle 2006 does not have good doors to resist the powerful vibration but that’s the car story.
I am really happy with this speakers I purchased and I will buy soon a new pair (for the back). I definitely recommend to everyone. Amazing sound and product quality.
Thank you.

These speakers sound amazing when paired with a good head unit. Only thing I didn't enjoy and that some buyers should be aware about was the fact that none of the adapters for the speakers worked on the doors so me and a friend of mine ended up having to grind the hole a little bigger with an angle grinder and that did the trick. Other than that I have the amazing JBL sound quality everyone loves, just took a little bit more work

It was wider at the base and I did have to buy a sanding bit to make my side panel larger to fit the speaker but it was worth it

JBL/Infinity are my go-to speakers for auto/marine/powersport applications. Sound quality, volume and longevity are their strong attributes. The 3 ohm voice coils squeeze a bit more output as well. Highly recommended.
Update 4/8/23: I finished a set for a 2017 Jeep Willys JK in Gobi Brown to go on a DS18 additional crossbar.
JBL GTOs were used again, to match the fronts and rears already installed. The next phase is to power them with am MB Quart Powersport 4 channel amp and supply them with 80 clean watts. It is remarkable the dynamics of these speakers when sufficiently powered.

Look like I'm reinstalling my Kickers. From day one these speakers never sound good. Now 1 of them blew. I was upset but it is what it is.

As you can see in pic I had to drill hole to allow access for oem wiring in Metra speaker adapter. It also appears that the one out of 2!, supplied brackets might work as well with the modified hole for oem wiring. I held it up to speaker in pic but didnt install. Holes do line up.
Its nice to be able to rotate the uni-pivot tweeter for directional desire. Since the Metra adapter can hinder direction preference. As far as sound its quality but time will tell on durability.

Easy to install. Perfect for what I was looking for and upgrade from other JBLs I have purchased. Installed them in a Chevy Impala and my 05 Yukon. Quality sounds great.
Would definitely recommend. The process was worth it. Would probably purchase again.

Firstly I never write reviews ever, but thought someone else might need this advice somewhere! I see that some people hate the sound quality. I am speaking from bias because I came from original stock 1999 Tahoe speakers (complete trash). That being said they sound good to me, they have decent bass for coaxial speakers, and most importantly can handle a stock speaker unit in this old car. I have no modifications to my car, sub or amp wise, and they perform well! Which was exactly why I bought them! Keep the car original but enhance the sound without putting a stupid amount of money into it. The only kicker is I have returned now two sets of these speakers with a faulty part or performance. The one set I have currently sounds pretty good which was the first of three sets I bought. Not sure if I am having bad luck but one faulty set is one thing but two? If you buy two sets and they work as described then I believe you won’t be disappointed. Best of luck! Will update with my third returned pair to see if that one works.

I already got it for my own car. But I bought this to my father car I know he will love this.

Installed in my 2015 Versa. If you’re somewhat hands on with cars or fixing things, this is a fairly easy job. A1 Auto has a video on YouTube of how to take apart the door panel and all. I used plastic trim remover kit for the door panels. I did remove the connection clip that was on the old speaker and soldered its wires to the connections on the new speaker. I did have to drill one additional hole because the placement of the holes of speaker didn’t line up exactly with the ones on the car. Overall a really good purchase.

Installing in front and rear doors of a 2008 Tahoe. The speakers themselves are what I would expect from JBL for the price. I am simply replacing original equipment in the wife's vehicle not trying to blow the doors off. They advertise that they will fit my make and model. That is partially true, if you simply want to stuff them in the existing hole and drive sheet metal screws through the door panel to hold them into place. After all, a six inch hole is a six inch hole. The truth is that there is a specific adapter that is needed for proper installation. I bought the SCOSCHE SAGMHR634B 2007 to 2015 Select GM 6.5” or 6.75” Speaker Adapter which properly fits the hole in the door panel and allows for mounting in the same manner as the original speakers. However, that's not all you will need because even though they advertise that they fit my make and model they do not properly fit. I went with what the description said and now need an additional 1 inch spacer to properly install my speakers. On a good note I also bought the Metra 72-4568 Speaker Harness for Selected General Motor Vehicles and they do fit as advertised. You could also simply go with the ACDelco 25852236 GM Original Equipment Front Door Radio Speaker as they are identical to the original speakers. Photo shows speaker mounted in adapter beside the original speaker for comparison.

Installed these speakers and they sound awesome.
Only disappointment I had was the delivery. They were left on my door step in the original box. Driver didn’t even ring the bell even though someone was at home. Taking a picture of a pair of speakers in the middle of the steps doesn’t mean squat. Advertising what the item is, I’m sure, would mean a lot to a package thieve.

I just installed these on all 4 doors of my 2008 Honda CR-V. These are awesome speakers well worth the money, but it said it fit my 2008 Honda CR-V , and it didn't. I had to cut the hole out round on all 4 doors, and use self tapping screws to install. It was no problem for me, but just so you know.

Gets nice and loud not a lot of bass but there is still enough. And I recommend an adapter to plug into the stock wiring so you don’t have to cut cords and go through all that trouble.

With DSP added, the voice is very satisfactory.
