Good speaker

The speaker's performance is exceptional, offering versatile functionality for karaoke, music playback, and movie audio. However, the current configuration includes a single microphone and operates on battery power. While additional microphones are available for purchase, the inclusion of two microphones as a standard feature would enhance the user experience.

Perfect for Our Wedding Rehearsal — and It Survived International Travel!

We bought the JBL PartyBox On-The-Go for our wedding rehearsal dinner and it ended up being one of our smartest purchases. Renting an audio system would’ve cost twice as much, and this speaker did exactly what we needed — and more.

We packed it in our checked luggage, flew it all the way to Mexico and back, and it held up like a champ. No damage, no issues — just solid JBL durability.

During the event, it was powerful enough to carry 10 heartfelt speeches to a crowd outdoors without missing a beat. The included mic worked well overall, although it did glitch here and there. That might’ve been user error (we’re total audio newbies), but even so, it didn’t impact the experience in a major way.

If you’re planning a destination event or need something portable, loud, and reliable, this speaker is absolutely worth it. It’s a powerhouse — and it doubled as our post-dinner dance party system too 🎉

JBL speaker review

I like the bass but surprised it's not as loud as I expected but sound quality is fine.

Best purchase for a gift or for the house.

My husband and I love to have people over for karaoke nights and this was a great gift for Christmas. We bought the JBL microphones and somehow everyone sounds like a well paid radio talk show host. We bring it with us everywhere we go, on vacations, boat days, BBQs, camping (away from others of course), and our friends ask us to bring it for after dinner parties all the time. The sound quality is amazing and the carry strap/cordless option is great. We also bought the larger JBL for our son and you can combine karaoke powers which is pretty fun.

I would definitely recommend this if you are on the go people or don't have enough space for the bigger ones. This is always the life of the party and easy to transport. We haven't had the battery die on us yet and we've played with it out for hours, so the lifespan is pretty solid.

Power charging with 220V or 110V

I ordered one that looks nice. But it doesn’t show input voltage charging 220 V or 110 V.

Sometimes I take it outside the USA without 110V. Can I charge it with voltage 220V input?

Please let me know

For this size jbl box the battery life should lost for at least 12 hours, sadly only lost for 6

The size of the box is perfect but the battery life only lost for 5-6 hourshow is it that the smaller box battery life lost longer like 12 hours

Great alternative to carrying my partybox 100

Great alternative to carrying my partybox 100 when I want the party with me. LOL I love the features of the partybox on the go like the microphone and the light feature. Has a great sound when you don't have room to carry its bigger brothers. LOL

Awesome, fun speaker. Great volume and microphone.

This is a fun speaker!

It is a large speaker but I like the size because the center light is very visible.

The microphone is great and the volume and echo adjustments make the microphone output sound great.

I like this speaker's loudness. At the highest volume, it does not get distorted.

I was happy when I was using this and how my entire family was enjoying it, but when I realized it was portable/wireless (had forgotten) I was all the happier.

The Bluetooth was easy to connect.

This is a fun, great quality, good-looking speaker. My family and I really have been enjoying it.

The one thing it needs to make it perfect is a cover for the speaker, it's rather large and I lightly bumped it when exiting the door with it, so I had to place it in front or back and not at the side while carrying it.

Huge! Great all around!

Wow this is awesome! It's much larger than I expected and heavy, so it's nice that it has the carrying strap and handles. Right out of the box it was charged and ready to go, the microphone too. It's all very well made, good quality. It's a breeze to setup via bluetooth, and you can connect multiple devices at a time. I liked that it has an auxiliary port and it also has ports to connect guitars.

As for the sound, it's awesome as you'd expect. It can get really loud! Great, clear and crisp sound. Very good bass, and there's even a bass boost. Voices sound clear through the microphone which is also really high quality. I love all the control knobs on the top, a little old school which I appreciate.

I think it's great all around. If you're looking for something like this I'd say this is an excellent choice.

Just Amazing!!!

Great sound quality volume, music can be control also from the phone. Quite simple to connected Not only can it be just playing music but you can sing along. Mic sound is great.

Great speaker, but very dependent on placement.

Fist off, the speaker is really well made, i wouldn't expect any less from JBL. The body is made of sturdy plastic and has a really clean and elegant design. The back part is cushioned so its not uncomfortable to carry with the strap, the speaker is a bit large so its sometimes difficult to avoid bumping it into walls. The front grill is made of metal which some reviews for some reason describe it as plastic. Pairing is super easy, and it will instantly reconnect to the last source automatically. The speaker also comes with a really nice quality mic that sounds really nice and can be tuned using the knobs at the top of the speaker.

Sound wise the speaker does sound amazing, but the front facing ports make it very dependent on where you place it. Most rear port speakers will sound amazing just by placing them by a wall, this speaker will only sound amazing if its placed on a corner of a room where sound reflects on two walls. If the speaker is placed anywhere it will sound thin, you might compensate using the bass boost but battery life will be affected and the speaker will have to work harder. When its placed on a corner the speaker shines, it gets fuller sounding and will have more than enough bass with bass boost off plus having longer battery life. I think they could have completely avoided the placement issue if they had gone with a passive radiator on the back where the cushion pad is.

The main issue with this speaker is that it has to compete with its own partybox speaker series, I've seen many reviews that say that the older partybox 100 is a way better deal because it uses two same sized drivers and can push 160 watts and giving you about twice the volume. This speaker also has a relatively short battery life and can only be used with bass boost off, no lights and at 50% volume to achieve the claimed battery life. The speaker is also pretty heavy to be fully considered portable.

Overall i really like the speaker, placed on a corner it will sound gorgeous plus it comes with a mic to make announcements at a party karaoke or to use it at a presentation. The speaker is also water resistant and does charge pretty quickly while giving you more power while charging. I think this speaker will give you quality over quantity over its main competitor the partybox 100.

Very Boomy

It has a solid sound that I’v come to expect from JBL. Having a few boom boxes one gets to know what’s expected from them. I’m satisfied with the quality that this party box shows as the parts and pieces and gap lines are smooth and uninterrupted. It has a solid feel when picked up and doesn’t rattle. The built in metal loops to attach the carry handle are done very well and also the two ends can be gripped by hand for easy carry. It’s not a light box but one hundred watts of music or karaoke needs hefty components to make all that happen. So really it’s quite lightweight as opposed to others I have had. The sound quality is excellent with no distortion at maximum output and the wireless microphone can sing right along with any song that’s playing. The reverb gives it a very unique sound when used and it to was distortion free. The unit plugs directly into a wall socket and doesn’t have a internal battery for off the grid playing. The extra bass button delivers extra bass with gusto and is very boomy it’s exactly what one wants and expects from a JBL boombox. Four Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!

The party won't start 'till you walk in

This JBL PartyBox On-The-Go measures 19.3" x 9.6" x 8.8" and weighs 16.5 pounds. The speaker comes with 1-5.25" woofer and 2-1.75" tweeters. The JBL PartyBox On-The-Go offers 100 watts of power(RMS), an included factory-paired wireless mic, and connects to audio sources via Bluetooth 4.2, USB A compatible drives, or 3.5mm aux cords. The JBL PartyBox On-The-Go also has an IPX4 water-resistance rating, a 2500mAh battery, and a frequency response of 50Hz-20KHz.

What I liked most about this JBL PartyBox On-The-Go was:

- Big, bold sound. When you buy a JBL speaker you expect deep bass, crisp highs, and some separation between mids, highs, and bass. This speaker delivers that at 100 watts of power. I included a clip of this speaker playing Hotel California and its range is more impressive than you'd think. I also had a clip from the original Iron Man movie and this speaker created an immersive experience with nuanced bass but I was restricted from uploading more than one video for this review.

- Creature comforts. JBL included a ton of bells and whistles with this speaker including their signature black and orange highlighted color scheme that is found on the speaker, the included mic, and even the pouch that holds the mic. The padded strap that's included with this speaker has a splash of orange on it and can serve as a bottle opener. There's even a slot for holding a phone or tablet which is far more convenient than you'd think when you need to see the words for songs sung during Karaoke.

- Bass boost and RGB light show. There are two levels of bass enhancement found on this speaker but simply pressing the bass boost button twice. There are also a couple of non-customizable RGB light settings on this speaker as well. Both are perfect for both indoor and outdoor entertainment.

- Connect+/TWS. If you really want to wow a crowd it's possible to pair this speaker with another JBL PartyBox On-The-Go or others in the JBL line.

- Ad hoc Guitar Amp. You can plug in a guitar and use this speaker as an amp.

- Power Bank. This speaker can recharge other devices in a pinch.

What I liked least about this JBL PartyBox On-The-Go was:

- Battery. This 2500mAh battery takes 3.5 hours to charge and only delivers 6 hours of usage in exchange. You'll likely yield even less time you use the lights, bass boost, and greater than 50% volume at the same time. Imho the battery on this speaker should have been at least 5 times larger.

- Bluetooth 4.2. There's no reason a 300-hundred-dollar speaker should offer Bluetooth 4.2 in 2021. Bluetooth 5.0 should have been included out-of-the-box.

- No USB C in/out. JBL implemented a standard power port on this speaker when they should have included at least an 18-watt USB C in/out port for charging the device and recharging external devices.

- No app support. JBL offers app support for other speakers, including some that are cheaper than this one; a curious decision to opt-out of app support for this speaker.

Overall, I have used this JBL PartyBox On-The-Go speaker a couple of times a week since it arrived, even though its girth makes it a bit cumbersome to take out and use. I make the effort to use this speaker because it sounds great, completely enamors my 6-year old niece when we play karaoke to her favorite Disney tunes, and provides an immersive experience when I want to enjoy an action film. JBL dropped the ball a bit with the battery, by omitting an in/out USB C port, and "cheaping" out by opting for Bluetooth 4.2 over Bluetooth 5.0. However, the JBL PartyBox On-The-Go has a quality of sound, an array of creature comforts, and supplemental features such as connect+, a power bank, and an ad hoc guitar amp that more than makes up for its drawbacks. 4.5 out of 5.0
