The Little Boombox That Could

Day 1 Impression (11-7-25)

Summary: Out of the box it's very nice and works as advertised. Volume at max is a bit low but sound quality is good.

Long: Small (see pic) and the sound quality is good but limited in volume. The knobs and buttons work, CD player worked immediately, line-in works, and the radio worked. I will come back in a year or so and let you know how it holds up with daily use.

Great little radio for the price. Good sound quality and I love the pretty teal color.

Nice Unit. Meets My Needs.

Went with this unit over others due to the Jensen brand name. Didn't want some "no name" even if it was cheaper. I just wanted something to play my CDs in my "She Den" since our monster stereo unit is in the other end of the house. Haven't used it much yet, but it's fine for what I wanted. The sound is rather tinny for my tastes. Wish it had a tone adjustment. As others have commented, the max volume isn't very loud but adequate for my needs. Durability and such I can't speak to yet, but will update this review if there are issues.

Works perfect with my CDs and the radio is fun to use too! (I just wish most of the local stations weren’t country music LOL)

Absolute garbage. Beware!!! Do not buy.

This CD player is junk. It is made so poorly it skips if you take a step. It is destined to the landfill and I just bought it and missed my return date. Very very poor quality, features don’t all work, difficult to use, cd component is flimsy and you have to forcibly make the lid close. This is a zero star product. And this wasn’t cheap!!

WOW! Great Sound From A LIttle Unit

Love the color. It goes well with the rest of my furniture. The size is small and light. It fit great on top of my CD storage stand. The sound is really very good considering it's a small unit and not really high priced. I gave it 4 stars because some of the graphics are hard to read. The radio station dialing on the right is hard to see and doesn't light up that well. The on-off, CD or radio slide on the left side is small. But, there's good graphics for the CD track number, and easy buttons for functioning that.

This is a beautiful container and holds a good amount of product.

Amazing little unit!

Ok, here is the story of one tough product. We bought this to have music while we were building our cabin and staying in a RV. This unit was on all day, day after day. Mostly using the CD player but also the radio. One funky station where we are but fun to hear. HERE IS THE AMAZING PART. Once I forgot and left it out all night sitting on a cart unprotected. It poured rain all night and the unit was soaked by morning. I was crushed and so bummed as we used it every day. We shook all the water out of it and set it in the sun for several days. Amazing to say it STILL WORKS! 5 years since then and it is still going strong. I thought for sure the water inside would ruin it. I don't recommend leaving it out in inclement weather. Just saying it's a great product, made to last.

I love this ready as soon as I plugged it in and the radio is clear and crisp and the CDs play nice and it has a headphone jack so I can meditate with my meditation old CDs this is a fantastic player..

Quality is not good.

it Arrived at damaged, torn, and broken.

It's been used or returned; there are lots of scratch marks and cuts.

"Don't buy the white item because it gets easily dirt."

Due to the white color, the scratches and dirt were easily notified.

I Returned it right away.

Cool little radio

Very fast shipping. Needed a little radio for work I work in a factory that can get loud so have to wear ear plugs and this little radio definitely turns up loud enough to hear its perfect. Compared to the other brands ive seen and had this one is the best in quality doesn't feel or look cheep. Definitely a good buy.

Ol Blue Eyes! Frank Sinatra would be proud!

Yes, Frank would love the color and the sound of this little cd/radio player. I just got it today and have only played cds on it (well only played Frank Sinatra really :-)) and it is both adorable and functional.

What I really like about this stereo:

The buttons ON top to raise the volume and to tune the radio dial - my Mom has dementia and she struggles with simple things like buttons that show a plus or minus for volume - she remembers what a dial means and so this little stereo is very easy for her to use.

The color is wonderful - I love the bright blue!

The size is so cute, not too big - it is very compact and I like how you have a handle to carry it around if you need it.

Bright display so you can read the CD/radio number etc.

Lightweight and easy to move around if necessary.

I play with it more tomorrow and let you know if there are any hiccups.

Perfect for kids!

I bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter for Christmas so she could listen to her Moana CD any time she wanted! It worked perfectly. It's so easy she can do it all by herself. Of course she's only had is for 24 hours, but so far so good!

Nice little radio

All my 4 yo boy kept asking for was a blue radio. I seen this and hoped that it was as nice as the pictures, and it is. It has great sound for being smaller, and it only took him about 2 minutes to figure out how to use it. Now he just walks around the house all day with it in his hand playing his new christmas CD's (kind of annoying really). The only negative thing I can say about this is that it takes 8 C batteries to run this if not plugged in. If you have an outlet though, it's perfect.

Pretty awesome indeed. Very nice design.

This radio is perfect for a kid as a starter radio as well, its highly simple enough for them. Features in the player itself is CD enabled, radio enabled and of course ipod enabled. It has forward buttons, back buttons, pause and stop. The sound from the speakers is actually really great quality for the price paid. Headphones are easily able to be fitted to the radio as well.

Super pleased with my purchase and having a radio as such really brings back memories of my teenage years. Highly recommend radio for starters! I received this product at a promotional price. My review contains my own honest experiences with the product.

A quick visit back to my childhood in the 80s

I bought this for my daughter for a Christmas present and glad I did. It is the perfect size for toting around and is simple to use. The video is to show the CD player in working condition. It is easy to tell if a CD is in the player as there is a small window on top. Just a push of the lid and it opens for easy access to add or remove a CD.

I have two favorite features:

1. Is the ability to use an aux jack to hook it up to an iPod or similar device so music can be heard through the larger speakers.

2. The CD drive allows for the use of CD-R/RW discs. *Note it may not play them all.

There are a couple other bells and whistles but I haven't had the chance to really look into those. It does play AM/FM radio and includes a decent sized antenna. The CD player is also programmable during CD playback. It has the ability to use batteries but my plan is to use it with the included AC adapter.

This is the perfect CD player for someone (like me) who doesn't need a bunch of different controls to mess with just to play some music.

Metallic Boombox with Great Sound!

The photos don't do the Jensen CD-490 Blue Limited Edition CD Player "boombox" justice. It is an awesome metallic blue! I love the color!

The boombox is really well made and a good quality, durable product. The boombox operates by operated by plugging in the electrical cord (included) or with 8 "C" batteries (not included).

The am/fm stereo receiver has a knob that changes the station and an analog dial to see which station the radio is set to. The boombox has a telescopic antenna to help receive radio signals.

The CD player is top loading, has an LED display on the front of the unit, has the usual CD functions (skip, search, forward, back, repeat).

The boombox offers an auxiliary input jack for listening to your iPod or other mp3 player through the speakers.

There is a headphone jack (headphones not included) to plug into the boombox.

I have always been a fan of Jensen audio products and this one is no exception. The sound quality is fantastic ~ much better than I expected from a small boombox. The buttons all function well and it's very user friendly. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product and highly recommend it!
