Kid Classics Frankenstein Illustrated Children’s Book

UNFORGETTABLE is misspelled on the back cover. Unacceptable.

Bought this for my nieces, but returned it as soon as I noticed that UNFORGETTABLE is misspelled on the back cover. The book is really nice-looking. It's too bad more care wasn't given to proofreading.

Awesome book-spooky, but fun and original

From a 10 year old’s perspective: I would recommend this book for kids 12 years and up because there are some intense and emotional parts including murder, and devastating heartbreak throughout the entire book, but otherwise a really good book. It was really sad, but after I read the notes from the explorer in the beginning and end, I realized it was a really good book. Don’t forget to read those parts!

Parent’s perspective: this was an excellent kids version of my favorite classic. I think 10 and up would be fine, even younger ages, if they aren’t too sensitive. They don’t leave out the parts about Frankenstein’s loved ones being killed and how, but it is done tastefully and easy to follow in my opinion. I did need to explain quite a bit about the history of the author and what the Monster was feeling throughout the book by asking questions and reviewing those parts with my child, but I think the book did a great job at creating an accurate and appropriate kids version and would definitely recommend it if your child wants to read Frankenstein. The text photo represents the worst part of the book according to my child. However, it’s important to know the context. My child says this picture is the scariest one in the book so you can see the illustrations are really well done and tasteful.

My favorite book retold for kids

Frankenstein is one of my favorite stories and I was quite happy to find a version of the story for kids. Nice and sturdy hardcover, with beautiful illustrations and a well-edited story that it's easy for kids to digest. Looking forward to more retelling of classics to share with my kids 😁
