Can’t read a lot of words cause letter wrong or missing letter

The books I’ve read half way through. Always love Little House on Prarie. But the printing of words are bad. I have missing letter or letters that aren’t right. You just got to figure out what the word is. Don’t think the printer takes pride in getting it right.

I highly recommend!

Beautiful stories of life in the 1800's and a fun way to teach kids. Stories for the whole family. Try having a reading night and the family will enjoy this. I can't imagine my kids' homeschool experience without these books. I had older, used, tattered books for years and now I have a brand new set which I am now going to read to my youngest child.

Very nice

Beautiful books!!

Faded pages in one book

In By the Shores of Silver Lake, pages 3 and 19 are faded. The rest of the books are fine. They must have been part of a bad batch of books.

missing 1st 2 books and 2 duplicates (see photo)

I ordered this for my daughter’s summer reading back in March and just opened it to find 2 duplicate books and missing the 1st 2 books in the series. Obviously very annoyed that there is no way to get a refund or replacement since it’s after 30 days.

Fabulous Condition!

I couldn't have been more pleased with the condition of these books. They were exactly as described. Knowing they wouldn't arrive until after Christmas, I printed a picture and wrapped that to give to my daughter (33). You know it's a great Christmas gift when you cause them to get teary-eyed! She loved this series as a kid and unfortunately the set she had 25+ years ago got damaged.

Ingel Wilder books

The books are fine , I ordered the used books and they are great. My complaint is who ever packaged them put tape across the binding of the book and if you try and take off the tape to get the books out it rips the binding. Not a good idea. So now there is tape stuck on each book.

Missing book

Missing the last book in the series. Otherwise happy with purchase.

The Little House Books

The covers of 5 of the 9 books had rips or tears when this book set was listed as Good condition and I don’t consider that Good condition.

Great books, poor quality printing

The books, of course, are timeless classics. This particular presentation is very low quality. The books are printed on cheap, thin paper, and the slipcase is made from folded heavyweight cardstock. It tears and falls apart easily and will not last. Not what I expected for the price.

Missing pages and out of order

The first book, no problems. I read these as a kid and love reading them to my daughters. But we got to the second book in the series and noticed a chunk of pages were missing (pages 119-150), and some other problems. The pages of Farmer Boy go from 1-118 then skips to 215-246 then back to 151-372. So the story is just messed up and I’m very disappointed. I’m not sure about the next books in the series but can post an update.

Book pages are out of order, set is incomplete

Was excited to read this with my kids, but then noticed strange pages out of order and was beyond the 30 day window. Not happy with the quality or disappointed kids. Hopefully support will reach out and resolve.

Pages cut badly

Not high quality books but better priced than others. The pages are not “cut” correctly but they still have all the text.

Ordered new, recieved used

It came shrink wrapped and I was excited to unwrap my beautiful new books but they're already torn and smushed the moment I opened them

Big printing issue

Huge printing issue. Skipped a ton of pages in one of the books.

Two of the same book and one missing

While my daughter is loving this series we didn't realize that she has two "Little House in the Big Woods" and zero "On the Banks of Plum Creek." We will hopefully be able to find one at the library since we are past our return date.

Excellent quality

I’m very pleased with the quality and presentation of these wonderful stories. I note that they were printed in the USA.

Little House on the Prairie

I bought this book set of Little House on the Prairie for myself - because the stories are amazing!!

Missing “On the Banks of Plum Creek!”

Great price, but didn’t contain all 9 books!! “On the Banks of Plum Creek” was missing, but instead had 2 copies of “The Long Winter.” Ordered a replacement set, so hopefully the next box set will have all 9 books.

Side-by-side comparison of 5-volumes set and 9-volumes set

The 5- and 9-volumes sets are very different in quality of design and construction. My photos show the 5-volume set on the left and the 9-volumes set on the right (or the 5-volumes set above and the 9-volumes set below).

DIFFERENCES

• The 5-volumes set includes only the first five books in the Little House series. The 9-volumes set includes all nine of the books commonly considered the entire Little House series.

• The pages of the 5-volumes set is quality, glossy paper. Smooth and bright white. The 9-volumes set is mass-market paperback. You know, kinda grayish and soft-textured pages.

• The 5-volumes illustrations are colorized. The 9-volumes are black-and-white.

• The 5-volumes set has a solid, cardboard slipcase. The 9-volumes set has flimsy cardstock.

• The 5 volumes do NOT include a Little House family tree. The 9 volumes DO include the family tree.

• The 5-volumes set is numbered on the spines. The 9-volumes set is not.

Plus there are just lots of different details in quality. Page margins are smaller in the 9-volumes. The 9-volumes includes a couple additional pages of Little House advertising. Author and illustrator bios get their own page in the 5-volumes, whereas they are printed on the inside of the back cover of the 9-volumes. Some layout choices are more elegant in the 5-volumes than in the 9-volumes, as of the Little House books listing for example. Each of the 5-volumes books is a little thicker than its counterpart in the 9-volumes set, owing to better quality paper pages in the 5-volumes.

THINGS THAT ARE THE SAME

• The texts are the same.

• The illustrations, by Garth Williams, are the same (though color in the 5-volumes and black-and-white in the 9-volumes).

• The typesetting is the same. (Don't be fooled by the text in say, Little House in the Big Woods [Book 1, included in both sets], being much bigger than the text in, say, Little Town on the Prairie [Book 7, only included in the 9-volumes]. If you compare apples to apples, Book 1 in each set, the typesetting is the same.)

Hope this helps! Happy Little Housing!

Damaged book cover.

The box arrived in sealed condition, however one book had the corner of the back cover torn completely off. The missing corner is not in the packaging anywhere.

Eight out of Nine

I was so excited to receive this set to read with my children. You can imagine our disappointment when we realized, after opening and laying the books out, that there were two copies of the Long Winter and no copies of On the Banks of Plum Creek.

A Great Set

This is a great value for a great set of books. I highly recommend. Publishing quality is more than adequate. We like the box they come in and the set just looks great.

Love these but arrived a bit damaged.

My 7 year old daughter loves this series and spent her birthday money on it. It can quickly so no complaints there. However the box is bent up in 3 places and 1 book's cover is as well. I would return but she is too excited to start reading so we will just keep it.

Major Printing/Binding Error

These were my favorite books as a kid, so I was excited to buy this inexpensive set to share with my own children. The printing/binding is cheaply done, which is fine and to be expected at this price. However, the copy of "Farmer Boy" has two or three entire chapters which were printed/bound upside down (see pics). Is it still readable? Yes. The rest of the books seem fine and I don't want to bother with returning the whole set (and a replacement may very well have the same problem if from the same printer), but it is disappointing. Hopefully I can find a copy of just this one book in this version - without the error - to buy separately and replace this one in the set. Maybe it was a fluke, but be aware of the possibility of this happening in your set.

Missing a book

The books appear new and as expected however. A book was missing. I had received little town on the prairie twice and was missing the long winter.

Typical paperback quality, written in 3rd person

I grew up watching the Little House is on TV. I was 3 when the series began and 12 when the show ended. Prior to this order, I had never read any of the books but decided to order this boxed set for my granddaughter after watching the series on iTunes. The box they are in is very flimsy but the books themselves seem like a typical paperback. The font size is also typical for a preteen reader. (Or my aging eyes).....Aside from that, (and this has nothing to do with the quality), but I was disappointed to learn that the books are written in 3rd person and not 1st person. I made the assumption Laura was telling the stories in the first person.
