Great images for about 2 years, then done.

Loved it so I bought a second one for the back. 2 years in and both are showing very hazy images, one so bad it looks like a Vaseline blurred lens.

Easy to set up and works as expected. No Cloud service is needed, Ya!

I initially bought a different, much cheaper brand, but I couldn’t get the bulb to connect to my Wi-Fi. Adding the device to their app was also painful—the app was confusing and seemed to push you into joining their cloud just to add the device. Since it never connected properly, I returned it and bought LaView instead.

When powered on, the bulb emits a beeping sound to indicate it’s ready. The app only requires you to create an account, and adding the device is very easy.

I received a ‘Person Detected’ notification when it spotted a squirrel. (I am fine turning the sensitivity). I turned on the siren, but it didn’t seem to scare off the squirrel.

It’s larger than a regular bulb and doesn’t fit in my wall lighting fixture. I didn’t want it to be exposed, so I bought a shade-style wall lighting fixture to cover it.

I just placed an order for a microSD card so I won’t need to use the cloud service.

I love these!!!

So I bought two, just to see how it would go. It notifies me whenever there’s movement, which is nice until “3AM, human body detected on your porch” and you freak out to look, but it’s just a feral cat eating your pumpkins 🤣

I struggled to set these up but they have a good tech support. It’s a head ache to try to set up but it’s worth it. They can follow you like an eye but I have them set to stay where they are. I didn’t notice at first but you’re also going to want to order some SD cards. They can record at all time, or only when there’s movement (I have it saving recordings from any movement only)

I then tried to order another camera for a cheaper brand, just like this. It was so terrible I ended up returning it and buying from this brand again.

I’m probably gonna buy two more, one for my garage, and one for my basement (where the dogs hang out when I’m at work)

I’m very happy with the product and highly recommend this over any camera.

Great Product - Great Price! Highly Recommended!

We needed a camera for our house, but we didn’t want the hassle of having to mount it or to have to pay for a subscription. This is the best little camera. It just goes in your porch light as a bulb would. You download the app and you can go into the panel and see live the area in which you have it set up at. It gets better though you can move the camera from the app to get a view of not only straight on but you can turn it right from the app to see a 360 degree view. There is no subscription necessary unless you want it to save all the photos and videos, but even without it you can view the picture it took. You can set up schedules for your convenience so it isn’t constantly going off. You get notifications when it picks up movement. It came with an extender so even if you have a porch light it goes down far enough that the view is not obstructed. I would recommend and have recommended this product to family and friends! It was such a great buy that we now have two of them. One app and both cameras display. The quality of the pictures is great! You can watch it live if you want. Great for security purposes around your home or any other structures and you only need a light bulb in order for it to work. Daytime or night time. If you’re looking for an inexpensive option for security this is a great buy! Highly recommended!

Best peace of mind

This bulb has been better than ADT ever worked for me in the past. I’ve never been a fan of surveillance cameras because of the expensive monthly subscriptions and hidden fees that come with them and also the charges that come with any issues that arises with them. I purchased this camera about a month ago. I installed on the side of our house light fixture. When I tell you that this camera has worked uninterrupted through even a couple of storms, I mean it. The night vision and all of the features that are included on the app are more than a treat to myself and my family. When I 1st purchased it, my plan was to only use it live. I was not going to buy cloud or subscribe to anything but my neighbor across the street, that has Vivint video surveillance sent me a video of someone trying to break into her house on an early morning and so I decided to subscribe for a month just to be on the somewhat safe side. I subscribed to the $10.99 membership, which it recorded continuously and clear as a day, about a week ago, I lost my old phone to water damage, I couldn’t log into the camera because I didn’t have access to my old email nor phone and so I had to reset the camera and reinstalled it with my new email and phone. I called today to cancel the subscription and so I was a little hesitant because I didn’t have access to my old email and the representative was not only attentive and friendly, he reimbursed me the days I had left after finding my old account and canceled my subscription without many questions asked. I will now subscribe again because it’s totally worth the $10.99, compared to $180 that I used to pay before with ADT and it does exactly what any other surveillance service does! I’m so beyond grateful for this amazing service!! This is not a paid nor point earning review! This is a mother of 4 kiddos that feels totally pleased by a company that sells exactly what other company sells at an affordable price!! Thank you!!

I love these cameras but I'm so upset!

So I've ordered three of these cameras so far and they're great! They allowed me to keep eyes on my home while gone in another state and I was very happy with them. Unfortunately, one of the first two I ordered my husband broke as he hit it with a box on his way through our entrance. So I had to order the third camera which is the one from the video I linked. It's been up for maybe a month and now it will not turn side to side anymore! As you can see in the video, it will go up and down but not side to side which it did at first just fine. It sucks because I don't want to spend money to order yet another replacement. The first one I had worked perfectly with no issues but unfortunately this one didn't last.

Absolutely delighted with the light bulb security camera!

High end features at affordable price. Great for plenty of light sockets and it even comes with an extender if the bulb needs an adapter. Great product.

Unfortunately my mother's was dead (no lights, no connections, multiple outlets, even. We are waiting for a box to return the other one. it but I should be getting a refund for that other one.

I'll rate 5 stars as soon as I learn how to record 27/7 until my SD CARD FILLS up then it resets, that way I'll always have the lady day of video automatically. Make sense? Please help. I've spent so much time trying to figure it out and I'm sure it's simple.

LaView 4MP Bulb Security Camera

Product arrived quickly and in quality packaging. Upon opening the box, everything you need to set up and operate your camera is neatly packaged. Instructions were clear and easy to follow and set up took about 3 minutes. I installed the camera in my garage and was happy with the cameras video and still images and sound from the device. The ability to rotate 360° and pan and tilt from the app was a nice touch. I'd buy again if I had a similar need!

5G Version is a Great Product!

This product meets my needs as I have been looking for something to monitor my cats litter box habits while they transition through a digestive issue. I was provided a 5G version of this product as I was missing some push notifications of movement from the other version. And now have noticed about 95% of the time I receive all motion notifications from this camera. Furthermore the app is easy to use and the setup is a breeze. I have used the other brands and cheep is not always equal. The other brands that offer lower cost are filled with glitches and worst have advertisers inside the application. This company allows you to have full access to all features except cloud storage unless you want to pay for it which I don't need but other company's who have a similar product will let you view your live feed in HD but will only allow you to record in SD unless you pay for cloud storage unlike this manufacturer. Full HD all the time unless you choose to do lower quality under settings.

My advice: pay a little more for a superior product and save your self from glitches, advertisers, and not full HD inside the application on other platforms.

An easy way for added peace of mind

I'm very happy with the purchase of this camera - it's a great value for the money. We have an old Wi-Fi router and so far it's working fine. Set-up was fairly straightforward in our case, though it has the potential to be tricky.

I purchased some acrylic panels to surround the unit in our light fixture, as the original panels were frosted glass. A link to the panels is shown below. They needed to be cut to size using a Dremel tool. So far the unit is holding up fine, but it hasn't been through any severe weather yet. One issue with surrounding the camera with acrylic panels has been that there is a glare during operation at night. I had to turn off the spotlight and set it to color vision mode, and the picture quality is acceptable with those settings.

Motion detection works fairly well. Setting the alerts to only send when a human form is detected helps to limit the number of false positives. It still gets set off every time a jogger runs by our house, so I turned off the alert sounds on my phone.

Overall this is a great way to keep an eye on your property at all times and is easy to set up. Highly recommend this camera.

Awesome little camera!

I bought 2 of these cameras and I love them! The app is also pretty good that you need to download. I do have one small issue with the cameras. Some of the time when I view the cameras to monitor them, I get some kind of feedback like a microphone at a concert. It can be the dead of night with no traffic or anything and I can view the camera from the app and I get a screech feedback that last for a few seconds. I have no idea why mine does this, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that this camera is still pretty sweet. No contract is a huge plus for me unless you actually want one which they provide cloud storage, but I just popped in my own SD card and take care of everything myself. The app can support you viewing multiple cameras at once, so I plan on purchasing more in the future. I’m getting my money’s worth out of this camera for sure.

Super Easy to Setup and Great Video

I was a little nervous after several reviews, said this device was complex to set up. I found it to be very simple. Just follow the quick set up instructions, and it walks you seamlessly through it. Overall, this seems to be a great product. It is for inside only and I do have it outside under a covered porch right now, I will be bringing it inside once it’s winter. The video and picture quality is very crisp and I love that I can pan and scan with is just dragging my finger across the screen. I definitely recommend this product.

Easy setup, works really well, great software features. Used extender in recessed fixture.

I needed to keep an eye on my front door mainly for package delivery and possible theft. My porch light is recessed and is a 9 foot ceiling so the camera is not able to capture a head-on image, but it is protected from the weather and nobody can reach up and take it at that height. I used a 4 1/2" extender to drop the camera below the recessed canister and that works really well and allows the camera to move unimpeded and with an unobstructed view. I used a 64gb micro sd card that I purchased separately. I have not used cloud storage.

The Android app was easy to install. It was able to find and connect to the camera quickly and without issue. I have had zero problems with any features, they all work. The siren isn't very loud, it won't alert the neighbors but it will get someone's attention at the door and the two-way calling is very clear. The picture and video is nice and clear for both day and night vision. The auto-tracking is a great feature and has an override so I can direct the camera where and when I need to. It's so nice to be able to view my front porch when I'm away from home.

All-in-all it's a great low cost camera with abundent features that is well worth the price.

Amazing camera at a great price!

I love this camera! I had thought about getting a doorbell camera, but this one came up in the recommended products, so I checked it out. What I like about this, is it tracks motion and can spin around in all directions so it gets a good view of everything. It can tell when a "human body" comes into frame and will follow the person. It has excellent night vision as well as a feature where it will turn on its light if it detects a "human body." The app is very easy to use and intuitive. I also like that it has the option to add an SD card instead of cloud-only storage, so you don't have to pay a fee for storage if you add the SD card. The picture quality is excellent as well. It has a feature where you can call through the camera, so if someone shows up at your door, you are able to talk to them through the camera! Honestly, this thing is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone! I've included a picture of the camera itself installed into my porch light fixture as well as a screen shot that shows the night vision that the camera has as well as the UI of the app.

Our Eye in the Sky

This is a unique video security camera, shaped like a light bulb with a screw in base. It comes well packaged with an electric plug adapter, which was not needed for my installation. You can tell by the documentation and the feel of the unit that this is not a cheapo piece of junk. Very solid and it cleverly pans and tilts in almost any direction. The initial install goes easy with set-up instructions in a booklet with the unit. Once up and running on your WiFi network you switch to the downloaded app on your phone to configure the various settings. The image is sharp and jitter free even at night. It picks up sound too and you hear conversations and other neighborhood sounds. It triggered one night at 2AM and caught a young raccoon snooping in the yard! The unit is not waterproof and therefore should be under an eave or porch or protected somehow. This was not an issue for us as we had a sheltered spot chosen. There is good after sales support and tech help available if needed, but for us it was less than 30 minutes and we were up and running. I recommend this unit as it’s a quality made product with good product data and unique operating features. It’s working perfectly for us!

Works Well... setup OK... so far so good

Update #2: I'm adding a third camera cause it's so simple to do. The software works well, hadn't had any issues. 1 camera can pan and cover an entire side of the house.

Update #1: Bought a second bulblight. have 1 in front & 1 in back of house. Software lets me watch both at same time, and can handle more cameras. i have 110v outlets on front and back porch, so ran an extention cord up to the overhang for power: makes installation very easy.

Update day 5: Yes camera can tilt L,R,U,D & zoom. camera has zoom, pinch or unpinch App screen; camera mic can be turned off from App; camera speaker, you hold down mic button, on App, to talk, sound is loud enuf, speak slow to be understood; an upgrade can send video to cloud ($10 month & up)

Camera has motion detection, but i know from past experience that any car, bird, butterfly, or leaf blowing in the wind can set off the motion detection which makes that feature of, IMHO, limited value.

you can not connect to your home network externally unless you have a static IP which service providers charge extra for UNLESS you use a Web service that forwards Your IP packets & u have a program on your home computer that updates your non-static IP to the Web forward App.

i have a T-Mobile 5G hotspot.. which i connected to w/o problem after downloading the App from googlePlay store. i selected the ? (one of the first two) camera types and followed the quickguide : you have to provide an email address to get an unlock code... that was quickly provided

the one glitch was that the app shows a screen that says hold the QR code on the phone up to the camera... but no QR is displayed on your camera till you advance to the next screen and input your hotspot key: then the QR appears

the App supports a dozen products, the first two of which are 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz bulbcameras. i went back and forth trying one then the other as i was unsure of what band my hotspot was using.

Overall it was not bad getting connected... just that the QR code

Amazing quality and price!

I'm using the camera outside in an protected outdoor room to keep it away from the elements which is working great. As I was taking the photo. I immediately got a motion detection notification.

Pros:

- clear picture both day and night.

- the app options are really good for customized use.

- the memory card option helps when you don't want to use the cloud.

- the settings options for the camera really help you use it to it's full potential.

- the motion sensor light that comes on at night is convenient feature without having to get a separate light source.

- easy to install and place anywhere with the plug and play capability.

- true as advertised and more.

Cons:

- slight lag if you don't get a WiFi extender.

- the camera direction tool is very sensitive so I keep adjusting it but not that bad. Would be nice to have a lock and unlock option for that so the cameras direction doesn't change by me simply swiping the screen. I'll search the settings again to see if they have that.

That's it. I would totally recommend this camera to anyone who's looking for great quality surveillance equipment without drilling into your walls and needing to pull wires, they also have other camera options available as well. I went ahead and ordered the outdoor camera as well because I loved this one so much also plug and play.

Smart and Elegant Security Camera

I like the design of the camera. It fits right into the light bulb conceal, though I had to use bulb holder extender to move the camera out of the bulb conceal. Setup was easy and straightforward. I've a doorbell camera, but it has its own cons: 1. It doesn't have the Pan feature and 2. It is missing color night vision. The LaView camera helps fix both of those issues. Now I can rotate my security camera in the direction I want. I like the motion tracking feature (except of one nuance). The smart night vision turn on the light when motion detected at night ( I found this to be little buggy, as it sometimes fails to turn the light on even when motion is detected (or maybe I've misunderstood the feature).

While the motion tracking is good, but the camera stays put the in the direction when the object was last seen and with this it possibilities of missing the movement in the actual zone of interest. It would have good if the camera can move back to a neutral (fixed) position after the object moves out its view. Object detection needs improvement. As you can see in one of my pictures, the spider web (at night) is getting detected as object.

In all, good security camera which seamlessly fits into the existing lighting setup and serves both as camera and light.

Fantastic camera

Great camera and really easy to install. I love how it send me a notification every time it detects sound or motion "Human body detected" lol.

I'm a single female living alone and sometimes I'm not always comfortable answering the door when unplanned visitor comes knocking my door. Love this so much because I can see clear and speak through the con. The sound is so clear that I can hear the birds outside -downside it sets of the sound notification constantly but I’m not mad at it. Also, I love the siren sound which loud enough that my neighbors can hear if there was ever an intruders or package thief. BTW- I live in a townhouse/condo with a large courtyard where you can easily see your neighbors.... to give an idea.

I saw in some review that someone mention they get ads on the app. However, I haven't seen one yet......not sure what app they're using but I'm using the LaView app.

No wires, no batteries, great picture quality.

Love this camera! You don’t see any wires hanging down and I don’t have to change batteries every two weeks and recharge it as I did on my Ring camera. It’s easy to install, and love the range coverage it provides.

I like it so much, I purchased another one for my front porch. I bought two SD cards, haven’t installed them yet. I’m anxious to see what qualities it has vs paying for more iCloud use. The video above shows the camera tracking me as I walk across the room.

Great video and sound!

This camera is great, it has awesome video at day or night. It was very easy to install and the app was very easy to figure out as well. The picture quality is great during the day as well as night. With full control on the app you can position it where you like and let it take care of the rest. The app was very easy to learn and the controls are instant as well. I highly recommend this camera! I have been catching strange things at night and that was the mail reason for this purchase. Orbs and strange sounds are frequently picked up by this camera!

Great Quality

Love the camera the talk to talk option is wonderfull it works great and I can view while on the road. It has a wonderful alarm system you can set it up to sound alarm if someone is walking by, it has motion tracking and snaps pictures for you and sends it yo your device, did I mention it has calling home option night mode alarm light is super bright, the customer service team is great they will contact you asap or withing 24 hrs the picture is of great quality HD or standard uf you like

Update review Few months after purchase-

Updated review- so myself & my sister purchased these for our homes & they are amazing until they aren’t..

The following events happened to both families cameras..

Few months after purchase weird things began to happen like they are continuously corrupting SD cards, formats not working..

tracking stop working but then when nothing there to track they move—no I’m not paranoid idk really but yeah..

After warranty ends the cameras will do a final update and literally die ..they we’re working then update & now will not even power on completely dead.. iv contacted support all they do is apologize and offer $10 dollars off coupon to purchase a new one with.. out of 5 purchase between myself and my sister only 2 are currently operational & it’s the two that hadn’t hit warranty yet.

Finally here’s the creepy -

the camera may not be safe—this is hard to explain but I chose to save everything locally on the SD card however the inside cam took screenshot of a moment in a video and automatically saved it to the home screens cameras selection this video occurred months after using and the video is of a snake entering my home & me freaking out.. obviously I don’t need that memory slapping me in face every time I log in and here’s the kicker there is absolutely no way to remove it no matter what I do because technically it doesn’t exist anywhere on hard drive & never had.. therefore they without permission or knowledge are storing your videos & photos & there’s nothing you can do about it..

Original review-I absolutely love the fact u can put it anywhere with either a light socket or plug. Great picture sound . App is fantastic and easy to use. Night vision now that it’s been updated firmware is also amazing. The support team is very very helpful and if something isn’t right they’ll do everything they can to fix . Definitely above and beyond.

Iv bought other cams in this price range that we’re completely garbage and had no support services. I’m super happy I finally found this.

Can’t wait to try other products and possibly order another.

See what set off motion sensor !

The only thing easier than installing this camera is screwing in an actual light bulb!! It's as easy as that...and a breeze to integrate into the LaView app. Unlike other cameras, with this and all my Laview cameras, when something sets off the motion sensor the camera is quick enough to actually capture what is in motion, instead of just getting an "uneventful" notification, you get a notification with the subject triggering the sensor included in the photo. The motion tracking is spot on and this camera returns to where it started once the motion stops. I've uploaded a copy of the video taken from the Bulb Camera...the picture is superb and the night vision, either color or IR is equally superb. With nearly 360⁰ pan and tilt capabilities, this camera is absolutely awesome. Strongly recommend not only this particular camera, but any surveillance camera produced by LaView. They perform better than advertised and their customer service is exemplary should any questions arise. You won't go wrong by investing in this brand.

There's no point straight up or down which ever way you have it screwed in only rotates slowly, 360

Review features are asking me about qualities that I have not used yet and aren't really that important to me. It took longer than I thought to set up the box. Looks like it was dropped kicked in shipping and I have to worry about someone else trying to switch off and feedback is enormous, when I find something positive I'll let you know

Easy out-of-box setup for instant monitoring

I found this product while searching for a simple, inexpensive, quality solution for day and night time monitoring. Problem solved!

The L2 is a “plug and play” device that simply screws into the socket of a light fixture. After downloading the LaView app, you are guided during the installation (either via the App or written instructions) to properly connect to your (2.4G) wifi. I was pleasantly surprised how simple the installation process was. Once the camera recognized the QR code and signified it was connected, the image came up quickly. Key attributes include its panning range, sound clarity, speak option, motion detection, and motion tracker, among others. I was very pleased with the image quality during daytime, and the ability to toggle between SD &HD. Areas to improve (for me) included the image quality during night time, where there was some reflective glare from the LED lights that ended up obscuring the image- but likely i need to optimize…truly- this was “plug and play” as I received a day before having to leave, got it set up, and i left the premises - but voilà, i was able to monitor the house and felt very comforted having this monitoring camera in place, and in fact, have purchased another L2 for another location. And to boot- setup for the second unit was easier than initial setup, so thumbs up all around.

A couple of notes:

1) read the instructions carefully, but setup itself was clear. I was not immediately clear on where the QR code was, but following the instructions led me directly to the QR.

2) listen for the beep prompts during setup- it will help you know that you’ve completed a step correctly.

3) use 2.4;G L2 will not function with 5G.

4) L2 is meant to screw into a light fixture where the socket is facing “downwards.” If the lighting fixture has a decorative covering, you may need to remove it (like me) as it extended/ covered the camera- it impeded the viewing area and image quality.

5) regarding the L2 in a conventional stand-up lamp (socket upwards)- unfortunately, the L2 camera does not self-correct- ie, in a traditional lamp base, the image will be upside down. No worries! if viewing on your smartphone, simply magnify the image to fullscreen and you can orient your phone (ie, tuen it!) so you can view “right-side-up”. Or, buy an R3 camera!

6) waterproof- even with a major downpour and sideways rain- my exterior L2 toughes it out.

In the end- easy purchase, easy install, immediate 24/7 monitoring. Recommend for a quick solution!

Garbage…move on

I bought this on a whim just to try some cheap alternative outdoor camera, and as soon as I saw the top of the box and the warnings, which the manufacturer said in other words, “we don’t have much faith in our product here”, I was immediately concerned. Of course, I never got past step two in the instructions as my Bluetooth would never even find the camera to pair. I’m not jumping through hoops to get one that may possibly work either. Returned.

Update 1/29/23: The company contacted me, apologized and sent me a new camera bulb, free of charge. This time, it did work and seems to work fairly well so far. I did have to manually connect the camera for the first time as the app which operates it would still not find the camera when searching for devices by using the "easy" method of connecting. Sometimes, it does disconnect when opening the app to view the through the camera eye, yet I just have to "try again" by clicking a link in the app, as the app states and it will usually pick it up on the second try.
