LectroFan EVO Sound Machine

Calling this a piece of junk is an insult to junk!

Anyway, the story was I got it because our internet was unstable and I needed something that could generate ambient sounds at night to replace the Alexa that couldn't work if the internet was unstable, so I got this box.

First of all, issue one: the sounds that come out of it feel like something from a 1970s kind of Tom Selleck meets T.J. Hooker kind of vibe, so it sounds horrible! Really not something from the current era in which we live.

The second issue is that when I first pulled the power plug out of the wall, it simply fell apart in my hands, so you can see the picture of it below.

Anyway, the sound is terrible, the quality is awful. Run away!

Got me through the end of pregnancy, csection recovery, and has been running for 18+ months

I just turned this white noise machine off. It's been running, non-stop, on the "waves" noise, for over 20 months.

I don't actually know when we got it, so it might be longer than that, all I know is when I was pregnant in 2024, I couldn't sleep. This magically appeared in my bedroom, the waves setting is the only one I liked, and when my water unexpectedly broke 4 weeks early and I was rushed to the hospital, I made my husband get it from the house and bring it to the hospital, because it kept my PPA under control. My daughter is 18 months old so I can day with certainty that it's been running for a solid 18 months. Through extreme postpartum anxiety, sleepless nights, bottles, colic, figuring out co-sleeping, 2 Alaskan winters and now on its second Alaskan summer.

I finally decided to turn it off because I *think* it might be turning into a sleeping "crutch" for my daughter and I need her to fall asleep naturally, without a sound machine. We have a fan going all the time but she struggles at her small daycare and I wonder if this is why.

I'd would buy it again, recommend it to anyone who needs one, and I'm not getting rid of it! Either way... I am eternally grateful.

I would pay much more for this product if I had to

Wanted to find something to compliment my Dohm sound machine but something even louder to help cover snoring in my ear at night. This product is amazing!!!

Great white noise machine. Not really worth the cost.

It does a good job blocking out my son's shouting about video games downstairs. The volume is a decent range.

I didn't look at the measurements and was expecting something bigger. It's perfect for right next to the door.

I like it, but I doubt I'd recommend it for the cost. It's not worth $60+. For that price, music should be an option. Nope, all white noise.

I could fit the thing in my hand, which is perfect for packing, hotel stays or with relatives.

The sounds are wonderful

Doesn’t take up much room and the sounds it has are so crystal clear that it sounds real. Love it

Calms the Storm

At first I wasn’t sure because I was so used to a noisy fan, but this lil machine creates a calming presence, quieting outside noises.

Lifesaver for travel!

This is a lifesaver for me when we travel. I’m one of those people who sleep with my fan on every night because I hear everything! It’s so compact and takes very little room in my suitcase or carry on bag. It’s comes with the option for white, brown, black etc. noise as well as fan noises. It’s easy to turn on and off and The timer works great although I rarely use that function as I turn it off each morning. When we aren’t traveling we keep it in our guest room for guests to use if they need a little noise to sleep. Great price as well and it has held up for years and still going strong! I’ve taken it on cruises, to other countries and even traveling inside the US.

After 7 months ~1800 hours of use, it self destructed

I purchased this for my infant daughter’s nursery. After 225 days of gentle overnight use as a white noise generator, today it decided to melt down internally (while not even being used). As an electrical engineer (who builds PCB assemblies with a 10 year warranty) the smell of burning IC’s was immediately apparent. I disassembled the unit post mortem do see what happened. The audio amplifier IC failed, or something else failed and was over driven so hard it began to melt and bulge the body. It even started to discolor the PCB substrate near by. What would have happened if someone wasn't near by to catch this is anyones best guess. Ill edit my review if the company makes this right as i have contacted them directly as well. Until then shop with caution.

Look no further!

This is the best noise machine. I bought several others but they were too soft. We leave this outside our daughters door when she goes to bed so we can make noise in the rest of the house and not worry about her waking up! I imagine it would be good for meetings, or other uses too!

Read instructions cycled through the fan and noises to find one that I think will work for me. If not I have 21 more choices. Made in China so I'm sure the quality is better then other places.

We share an old house with teens. Our privacy sucked. I put this in the hall on waves sound… it made things way more comfortable.

Blocks out the neighbor’s Rooster!

I just got this today and luckily the rooster 🐓 was screaming it’s little rooster head off so I could test whether it successfully blocked his rooster yelling noises out or not… It did, indeed block the rooster yelling noises and I am a very happy, soon to be sleeper!

That chronically excitable rooster isn’t 20 feet from my bedroom window and to say I’m a light sleeper would be an understatement. It usually starts around 3 am and doesn’t stop sometimes until after noon!

I thought, “aren’t roosters supposed to crow when the sun comes out then shut their rooster mouthes after that?”…the answer is no, unfortunately and I quickly found that out after Google assisted me with investigating this question. I already sleep with a fan (as you can see in the picture) but it’s loudest did nothing to drown out his rooster yelling.

You may ask “why don’t you knock on your neighbors door and angrily tell them “shut your rooster up or get rid of it!” Well, firstly because confrontation terrifies me. But also I’m an overly understanding person with hyper empathy and know that the world doesn’t revolve around me and my sleep.

The rooster is doing what roosters do, protecting it’s hens from predators, and the family (a very large family) is doing what they can to save money (or make it, I’m not sure). The grocery stores around our house have been under stocked with eggs for the last year and limit the number you can buy.

Long story short, my problem is solved and I didn’t even need to arrogantly threaten my neighbors or force them to kill their rooster, especially he’s so diligent at his job of protecting his hens. 🧘‍♀️🙏🐓🫰🥱😴😅

Small, Simple, Loud & Effective

The item was pleasantly smaller than I thought. Easy to cycle through sounds, and once you find the sound you like, it will play that sound every time you turn it on. It plays an odd tone to signal you are starting back at sound 1 when you cycle through the 12 sound choices (12 sounds on one button and 10 sounds on the fan button). Manual is clear and very helpful. I included a picture of all sound names because the original description calls all the sound “brown” noises but there are several other “color” noises. The power cord can have the plugin part taken off and put directly into a usb port if you are using a larger power strip or multi-port system on your outlets. I also included a picture of the sound machine next to my fire stick remote for size reference. You can see a side port for headphones or speaker. Honestly it was super loud on it own without need for amplification. Everyone sleeps much longer and more soundly with this on at night.

Happily surprised at the quality of this product.

I have always slept with a fan on for sound only. The fan I had finally crapped out on me. Fans get dusty though and take up a lot of space so I decided to try this white noise machine. I love it. From the variety of sounds to the range of volume control, I have slept well since using this product. It does have a timer but I just turn it on when I go to bed and off when I get up. Sometimes I forget to turn it off because it sounds so natural and comforting. Bonus, my nightstand isn’t cluttered anymore either. I highly recommend.

Most of the noises are trash

The fan sounds are ok but I don't like the other noises. It's brown noise escalating in pitch to white noise. Anything other than brown noise (and the ocean and surf noises) just feels uncomfortable and makes me anxious for no clear reason, it feels like nails on a chalkboard on my brain.

Does what it promises

This sound machine offers a variety of white, pink and brown noise but not much else. In my use case, it's perfect.

Using this to help cover sounds of apartment hallway since moving in next to mail delivery area where there are constant meter beepings, cart clangings, and box droppings.

All the noise outside the apartment was making one of my cats really anxious. The 2nd pink noise setting has been great.

I've run it continuously for 3 months now and only needed to reset it once (following easy instructions in manual) after a building power outage). I had to reset it because the sound just kept randomly starting and stopping. The reset fixed it.

The machine is really great and definitely small and lightweight enough to travel with, though I haven't needed to yet. If i take the anxious kitty anywhere, it's coming with for sure.

He's very relaxed now that we have this white noise machine and I sleep with the sound easily.

Great for noisy office

I live in a beautiful office space with lots of glass walls. Beautiful to look at. Ugly for sound. I sit mid-row in a line of offices of sales people, meaning they were on calls all day, and I could hear every word. It was so distracting!

I bought this machine a year ago, and it’s been a godsend. I found the sound I like and turn it on when I need it. People always comment on how calming my office feels.

Switching between sounds is annoying, and I thought that would be a dealbreaker. Turns out that after I settled on what worked best, I didn’t need to mess with it at all.

I was about ready to work from home full time rather than go to such a noisy office. This white noise machine totally fixed that!

Not the product advertised; buzzing sound; dirty on arrival

Most importantly, the product I received is not the product advertised. It's a LectroFan, but the design is different and it doesn't include all the sounds promised (there's no ocean or surf sounds, for example). There's also a low buzzing noise that completely distracts and makes sleep impossible. It sounds like a blown speaker. Finally, it arrive dirty. There are weird marks and smudges on the top.

Great sounds

Love the machine itself, but the power adapter broke after less than one year of use. The prongs and the face of the adapter just came right off. I plan on submitting a warranty claim on it. Will update this review if they don’t acknowledge the issue. I ended up electrocuting myself by reaching down to pull the rest out thinking there was sufficient plastic remaining covering the prongs, but that’s my own fault lmao.

Edit: the company sent me a new charger, which is great.

This is what I was looking for!!

Perfact white noise device. Its not feel like i am getting a sound from a small device, but it gives the shoothing sound of real world.

PERFECT for a bedroom or office

TL;DR: I love it. Very good digital white noise generator, highly recommended for assistance in improving sleep, focus, and stress relief. Best for a single small-to-medium-sized room, like an office or bedroom. Blocks out noise from rooms over.

I have trouble sleeping (caused by anxiety and depression) and my ADHD often makes studying difficult, especially if I have auditory distractions. My home’s walls are thin and I can hear through them easily. With this, my bedroom is well-protected from most auditory distractions. I fall asleep and stay asleep much easier, I can read easier, I think much clearer, and my safe haven is even more calming. It won’t solve all problems but it sure makes life a little smoother.

I have a choice of many sounds and can change their volume to meet my needs. Is there a loud movie in the room over? Do I need to briefly step away from a party or gathering? Did I have a stressful day and need some time to myself? Am I being distracted by outside noise? I turn on my little noisemaker and I’m one step closer to where I need to be. I highly recommend this digital white noise generator! I’ll probably get the mini version for travel, too, as that can double as a little, wireless bluetooth speaker.

I have only used this in my home, in my bedroom. There is a timer setting that I have not used. I don’t find this necessary for myself so I can’t speak on how well it can travel nor how the timer feature works. BUT I will list some cool features others may enjoy if they’re looking to travel:

- a headphone jack out one side (see picture 3)

- power cord can be unplugged from the bottom of the device and when plugged in, the adapter and wire are flush with the assistance of a notch at the back end (see picture 2)

- power cord ends in a USB that can be disconnected from a wall plug adapter

Waste of money

This thing has no value and does not help control noise. It simply adds more noise.

Great Product and Even Better Customer Service!

I suffer from severe tinnitus and can’t sleep without a loud and steady source of white noise. After relying on fans for years, I got tired of having to replace them every few months because the sound quality would change when the fan blade became dusty and imbalanced or the motor started giving out. I finally FINALLY realized there was such a thing as a white noise machine and it’s made ALL THE DIFFERENCE! After tons of research I settled on the ‘Lectrofan Evo and have used it every night for over 2 years. It gets loud enough to drown out most sounds and I take it with me whenever I travel. Needless to say, I have been extremely pleased with it, but I am even more pleased with Adaptive Sound Technologies customer service. When I did have one eventual issue with the machine, they responded right away and sent out a replacement part in record time. Couldn’t be happier. Thank you!

Did not last long enough to justify rebuying

We had this sound machine less than two years before it developed the dreaded, horrible static sound on every "station". Listen to the video if you want to hear what I'm talking about. I'm so sick of how cheaply things are made these days, this product is no exception. When it was actually working it was great but it does not perform better than the original.

This SAVED MY SANITY!

My neighbors had a baby so I started to get bothered by the crying. I was going insane before I purchased this! I put it right next to the wall where I usually hear them. & This COMPLETELY DROWNS OUT THE NOISE.

This also has good quality sounds. It sounds real, not too pre recorded.

Love it, easy to use and a lifesaver for noisy apartments

This is a life saver, I own two noise machines and this is by far my favorite. You can control the volume and tone - the volume can be super soft or blasting loud. The sound you can use can also change, I just use regular white/brown noise. I like that it saves your choice so all you have to do is turn it off and on and you will have the same sound you last did.

This completely drowns out noise from another room and neighbors and is a life saver for apartment people.

I personally don’t think it is worth it to travel with but it is the size of two fists.

Absolutely perfect!

I should have ordered this a year ago it’s perfect, I have to have the sound of a loud fan on to stay asleep because I wake up with every sound I hear all night. My husband gets cold so he didn’t want the loud fan on anymore as it’s chilly at night now. This is perfect and you can turn it up really loud.

Arrived used. So disappointed.

This arrived to me today already used. The opening of the box didn’t have the clear sticker on the lip of the box implying it had already been opened. The cord was already out of the plastic. Very disappointed that this was already sent to me this way. Now I have to do the same and take the time to return it as well. I really needed this sound machine because I am working from home and needed noise cancellation in my office.
