Awesome Team Camera for Zoom/Teams

Nowadays we are all meeting via zoom or teams meetings and when more then one person is involved on the call, a simple cam or the build in cam on my laptop doesn’t do the job. This is where this Logitech Conference Cam comes in.

Super easy setup. Out of the box, it’s quite easy to put together and I didn’t even need to read the directions. Connection to computer is easy, basically just plug and play. Comes with a nifty remote that lets you control the cam from anywhere in the room. The build in microphone and speaker is decent and doesn’t break up during the calls (and no complaints from the other side regarding noise).

Physical. Mute. Button. You know you want it.

We're all stuck at home, it's the depths of the COVID times. If you aren't doing webcam meetings, *yoda voice* you will be.

I needed, desperately, the ability to carry on a normal conversation. The Logitech BCC950 has a full duplex speaker phone. What does that mean to you? It means that on Webex and Zoom, you can TALK WHILE LISTENING. This doesn't sound revolutionary until you've used a simplex webcam and had that horrible, stuttery back-and-forth "you talk, no you talk!" happen. It's fabulous.

Installation was trivial. No software, plug in and go on my Mac. Video and audio are excellent. Remote works great and all controls are duplicated on the device as shown in my photos.

Some interesting notes: When you join a meeting, you are often auto-muted in software. This device has the killer feature of a hardware mute button. Occasionally you have to unmute in the meeting, and then remute with the button. Do it once at the beginning and you are good to go. Audio is clear in both directions.

My only minor irritation is the length of the stalk and the connectivity in terms of cables. At about a foot, it isn't quite tall enough to go behind a big monitor. If they sold a few extra stalk sections, that problem could be alleviated.

Finally, as other reviewers noted, the cable setup is bizarre. One permanent cable for USB, then a removable one for power. Just make them both removable and let me choose!

It's not a cheap investment, but just like a good office chair, in these weird covid-times it's an investment that pays off in reduced daily aggravation. Highly recommended.

Wow! What a great camera.

I screwed around for several months trying to go cheap on a camera/microphone for my desktop computer at home. After a lot of disappointment I finally decided to bite the bullet and spend decent money to get a camera from a brand that I have experience with and trust, Logitech.

The BCC950 is an awesome camera. I don't need all of the features, for instance I don't have VOIP so I don't need the telephone compatibility. The auto focus is great, so is the zoom. The pan and tilt are fun, but not needed by me for my applications, but I can see where this would be valuable in a conference room setting with multiple attendees in the same conference room, you wouldn't have to settle for a long shot of the conference table and hope you could see whose lips are moving.

As I said, this is an awesome camera. If I need another one, or if I need to specify one for my office at work, if we ever get back to our offices, I know what I am going to get.

Arrived broken!

Arrived broken! Very disappointed, was waiting for this to come in..opened the box and broken pieces were rolling around inside. Can’t speak of the quality since I couldn’t even use it.

Good image quality. Poor design and materials.

I got this camera for the office.

The Good:

The sound and picture quality are really good. Set up and installation are easy. Very "Skype friendly".

The Bad:

Now, you have the option to set the camera right on the base, but it make is very low on the table. So you pretty much have to install the optional stem that comes with it. The whole setup looks "flexible". People have the tendency to come and try to turn the camera towards them of flex the stem to get a better angle. But instead, the design is poor that the entire thing is very rigid and made from a "very breakable" plastic. Of course one day I walk in the conference room and the camera is broken. See pictures. The connector "guts" came right off the camera assembly.

The Ugly:

So I looked online for a replacement camera. I could not find one, so I initiated a ticket with Logitech's customer service. When I finally heard back from them, they said they will not fix it and they do not sell replacement camera heads. I have to buy a complete new set, even though the base, the stem, the power cords and even the useless remote are fine. Ticket closed.

Missing Pieces

I had to give 1 stars because my order was missing the camera piece. I was really excited, but the conference is today, so I can't wait to see if the manufacturer could just send me another. Disappointing, but it happens.

(Almost) the perfect webcam

This does everything I really need for web conferences. Great picture. Good mic and speakers. Strongly recommended for conference room or home office.

A few minor things that disappoint:

1) The USB-to-computer cable is hardwired so you must use their cable (see photo). It's LOOONG enough for most uses but I only need about 2 feet, not 6, but cannot replace their cable. Strangely, the POWER is provided via removable USB cable, and comes with the necessary cables to go both to a wall outlet or to a USB port. I wonder why they didn't use standard USB cable for both computer and power, adding a USB-to-power outlet adapter as so many other devices do.

2) Would love it if the base could be attached to a tripod.

3) I wish the telescoping rod that increases the camera to eye-height was adjustable (see photo). You have two choices: table-height without the rod or one foot taller with the rod. I actually need 9 inches so I'm putting the base on a stack of books.

I'm not displeased and I have already recommended this to multiple colleagues. Still, there are a few simple ways to drastically improve this unit.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s great but the controller stopped working to it not even a year in... so it took 2 stars away sorry!

Great conferencing camera.

This camera is fantastic on Skype and other video chatting services. It is possible to pull full HD video and the picture is crystal clear. The built in microphone is almost to good. It easily picks up whispers from the other side of the room. The remote function is very handy when presenting online and having to move about the room. It is very simple to operate and the zoom works very well. I have had quite a few people ask about what camera I am using before signing out of our video chat. I know for a fact there have been more purchases. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because we set up a conference with a customer that was using some sort of LiveSteam software and this was not comparable. But we were able to jump over to Skype with no issues. The set up is very straight forward and operation is very simple.
