Works well, but covers screen

Pro: Very simple to set up and works well on older PCs. Cheap price too!

Con: The mount that comes with it covers up the top of your monitor screen. (Kind of like the notches you see on some lame cell phones.) I personally mounted mine on top of my old webcam to rise it up. I hear some people get mount adapters 3D printed. The photo I included is the webcam mounted on my old webcam which still covers the screen a little bit, but not as badly as this webcam alone.

Surprising audio

I purchased this for use with a new mini pc on a swing-arm monitor mount. I didn't need anything expensive, just basic functionality for occasional usage so this was chosen based on brand recognition and the price point. What impressed me about the Logitech webcam was how nicely it fit onto the monitor. It grips well and doesn't move around even when I am swinging the monitor around. It has a really low-profile on top of the monitor and looks great. It connected and was set up easily with any issues. The video quality is fine for my needs and it auto-adjusts well to lighting. The biggest surprise was the audio. I wasn't expecting much and thought it wouldn't likely be usable because where I am using it is surrounded by extra noise. It's in a craft studio and there is always equipment running. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well the built-in mic performs. This was definitely worth the price!

Good for the price, still works

I have had it for years and it still works, so fairly durable. Resolution isn't the best, but for the price it has done great. Definitely won't use the microphone on, bad audio quality. Fits on every monitor I have tried. Colors seem normal. Uses a plain USB-A connection. Not really any extra features.

No blocker, but otherwise fine.

I mean it works fine. Good image quality and easy set up but the page was a little confusing. It doesn't come with a camera block. The primary images don't show it with a camera block, but a lot of reviews did and the options to select black or white models also show a camera block. I just wish there was one even if it was sold separately but I don't see that available on their page unless I return the whole thing for a different product. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but the block would have given me peace of mind.

Works perfectly

Well, when it comes to Logitech cameras, they almost never disappoint. Despite their price, the image is completely clear in 720p. I would even say that you could use it for streaming and everything else. It's very simple to install, as it's plug and play, so you don't have to download anything at all.

Logitech C270 HD Webcam, 720p, Widescreen and verticle HD Video camera for desktop PC

Works amazing! I bought this webcam twice. I use it a lot, once for my home and once for my office. The camera works well enough, but I'm not sure how accurate the colors are. You can change them yourself with your software. The sound is fine, but it would be much better if you used an external mic. The brightness is fine, but you can change it. I think this camera is worth the money.

Doesn’t work

Does not work. Arrived in damaged packing. Missing serial number on the back so when I call support they can’t even identify the device. Wouldn’t waste my time ordering from this seller in the future.

Waste of junk, waste of money

Product was half open upon delivery.

Did a webcam test and tried video calls on multiple different platforms on two different computers and got the same result (as seen in the attached picture).

Waste of junk, waste of money. Don't buy.

Perfectly sized, great video quality.

Amazing, I wouldn’t have even known it was refurbished if I didn’t buy this! I have a three monitor setup on my desk and needed a specific webcam as my laptops camera was in a weird position. This camera was easy to plug-and-play, is super crisp, and had no lag. I use a headset so I can’t speak on the speaker quality, but I’m very happy with this camera.

Works well

The camera definitely serves its purpose. The cord is really long and the view from the camera is very wide. Compared to my previous computer camera, it captures a much wider view

Reliable and Clear: Logitech C270 HD Webcam for Everyday Video Needs

The Logitech C270 HD Webcam has been a staple in our home since we purchased it in 2019. This simple yet effective webcam is perfect for anyone needing a reliable solution for basic video meetings, whether for work or personal use.

The sound and visual quality are clear, providing everything you need for smooth, uninterrupted communication. However, one downside is that the webcam does not have a zoom-in feature, meaning the view is fixed. While this limitation might be a drawback for those needing more flexibility in their video framing, it still consistently delivers dependable performance for straightforward video calls.

In summary, the Logitech C270 HD Webcam is a great option for anyone seeking an affordable, easy-to-use, and reliable webcam for basic needs. It’s been with us for years, and it continues to meet our video conferencing needs with ease.

Good camera but way too zoomed in

I’ve been using this camera for a couple weeks now for Teams meetings. I haven’t had any issues with connection or audio which is great. However I HATE how zoomed in it is on my face. I feel like everyone can see my pores lol. I have already tried to troubleshoot to see if there’s a zoom out setting, but no luck. I will be returning for one that has more of a wider angle.

Low Price Option for Remote 3D Print Monitoring - Octolapse

I have a Logitech c920 for work that I absolutely love but I was wanting to add something to my 3D Printers for remote monitoring and timelapses that balanced simple, low cost, and good quality. After looking around the internet, this camera had a strong "starter" consensus so I chose to get one for my new setup. I have always had good luck with Logitech products so I wasn't too worried about the quality.

This is a pretty standard webcam. You get it out, plug it into a usb, and you are on your way. Everything worked fine for my application but I was having some issues with the focus. This camera did not have any manual focus options so I had to search for a solution. Luckily, since this is for 3D printing, someone had created a manual focusing adapter that I was able to install on the camera to give it the additional features that I was looking for in order to create my timelapses. Once installed, this has been a dream.

Overall, if you are looking for a first webcam for monitoring your 3D Printer, this is your choice. I have it up and running on Octolapse and have had zero issues with the camera.

My biggest issue with the camera is that it has 720p resolution, but that's what you kind of get at this price point and I knew that going into it. At some point, I will probably upgrade to a higher resolution option but this will hold a spot in my 3D printer lineup for as long as its working, which should be a very long time!!

Camera obscures screen when mounted to monitor

The housing of this camera overhangs the screen of my monitor, an Acer H236HL. This is an ordinary, fairly old 1080p60 monitor. Newer monitors have even thinner bezels, so I'd imagine using this camera on them would be even more annoying. I'll just have to remove it when not actively using it for video calls I guess.

EDIT: I solved this issue by using foam tape to raise the webcam's mounting point a little higher. Still a weird design, I'd rather just have it on top of the monitor rather than overhanging it.

Design aside, the build quality is good. It does actually stay on the monitor (without foam tape), unlike a few I've had in the past. The video quality is fine, about what I'd expect for the price point. You do have to manually set the exposure and gain though, or else it'll set itself to 15 fps. The audio quality is actually better than expected. Overall do not regret the purchase, will suffice for occasional video calls to family.

Great low-profile Web Camera!

I needed an external web camera and decided on this one.

It was very much plug and play.

Setup was a breeze and the camera itself keeps a very low profile on top of the monitor.

The picture / video quality is excellent for zoom/teams/webex calls.

For $18 (usd) it’s hard to go wrong! Total steal

LifeCam Studio vs. Logitech C270 vs. Logitech C920

TL;DR - C920 has best image quality, but C270 is a better value proposition. All three cameras stream video at 720p unless you are using Zoom, in which case the C920 is capable of 1080p. C270 captures less background due to smaller sensor, not as good if you are trying to record an activity or more than one person but better if you are trying to only capture your head and shoulders for work meetings.

I ordered the LifeCam Studio($64), Logitech C270($22.99), and Logitech C920x($59.99 with $10 'limited time' discount) cameras to compare. All three cameras worked immediately upon being plugged in on a Windows 10 Enterprise laptop from Dell. I will be posting this review on all three cameras.

All three of these cameras stream at 720p using WebEx, and indeed the fine print on the LCS and C920 state '720p video calls', so they are not capable of streaming at 1080p despite the 1920x1080 sensor (C920 can do 1080p with Skype only). My limited testing was using the drivers Windows assigned upon plugging in the devices in a relatively high-light environment. I will update with observations in low-light scenarios.

C270: The cheapest of the cameras with a 1280x720 sensor, this camera had the worst color accuracy but surprisingly decent picture quality in terms of sharpness considering price. As seen on the photos, there is a blue tint to the image but that may not be the case in low-light environments with warm light. Since it has a native 720 sensor, it looks a little more zoomed-in than the other two, but that means less background which I actually prefer. ** I'm cheap when it comes to equipment I'm buying myself for work and the other cameras didn't offer sufficiently better performance, so I'm keeping this camera. **

C920x: Best color accuracy, best picture. You can tell it has a 1080 sensor as there is a lot more background than the C270, I don't want more background so this is a tick against in my view.

Life Cam Studio: Color accuracy is off, in high-light environment it gives a reddish tint and makes my face look like I'm flushing.. but you can tell I'm not from the other pictures. Again, 1080 sensor includes more of the background which I didn't want for WebEx meetings. I was also disappointed with the auto-focus, picture is a little blurry even after auto-focus does its thing (which is sporadic, I was blurry for a while before it did anything)

Doesn't have a lens cover.

Great image quality. Much better than my old Logitech camera. I wish it had a lens cover to keep prying eyes from hackers out. Easily fixed by placing it face down behind the monitor when I am not using it.

Box was sticky and had a hair INSIDE.

I’m not going to publish a picture of the hair publicly, because that’s just disgusting, but im extremely grossed out right now. I don’t usually write reviews, but I really felt like i needed to tell people. The box it came from was sticky in some areas, namely the top. I was already grossed out by that, but I sprayed some alcohol and gathered the courage to go on. Imagine my surprise when I find a HAIR on the inside of the lid. it was curly and really short—short enough to look like its from you know where.

I managed to get the webcam out, and not even it was safe from the mess. it had white dust, or scratches for all i know, in the back of it. Pics of that attached.

I’m disgusted and disappointed. If it weren’t for the fact that i desperately need it for work and college, I would be at the post office returning it right now. Hair and all.

Always start at this camera

Always start here when looking for a webcam. This is my go-to for setting up Zoom rigs - easily used over a dozen without any issues. Hard to compare image quality with the Brio, but it is also less than 1/4 the price. Good for 95% of the installs I've done. They've even been bolted to the walls & ceiling using Oculus sensor mounts. In the pictures, the cameras are pointed at 2 D&D players.

Excellent quality fixed focus camera!!

I have two C270 web cameras running on a Raspberry PI using the MotionEyeOS system. I am using this to monitor two 3D printers. They work very well in this role. It's important to realize that this is not an auto-focus camera and it's generally set up for PC webcam use, so the focus point is adjusted accordingly. You can find instructions on the internet on how to adjust the focus to a much closer point when using it for 3D print monitoring.

Good for price, but not great

I usually use my laptop (macbook pro) with a monitor, but unfortunately, when the macbook pro screen is closed, the microphone stops working. I really just needed a microphone, but the cost of a microphone was more or the same amount as a webcam, and few had monitor mounting options.

The quality of the video is ok, but I didn't expect much from a webcam at the lower end of their product line up. I also didn't really need the webcam to be high quality.

The audio quality seems to be good enough for conference calls and it sits cleanly on top of my monitor keeping my desk clean.

The biggest issue I have with the webcam is that the microphone is exactly where you would usually add a privacy cover so if I want to put a privacy cover I would need to cover the microphone. That leaves me with two options: 1. use a sticky note, 2. unplug the webcam. Things connect quickly again when I re-plug the webcam in and only use it every once in a while so plugging/unplugging it isn't too bad.

Logitech C270 vs Genius F100

I compared two five star webcams the Logitech C270 and the Genius F100. They both advertise that they are wide angle cameras. I took each cam and mounted it on my computer monitor in the exact same spot. I am sitting two feet in front of the camera and the cabinet is located six foot to the rear. The Logitech captures the dimensions most accurately but for wide angle the Genius is clearly the winner. See the attached photo the Logitech is on the top.

I would 100% suggest this to everyone.

I love this. It just arrived today, I immediately plugged it into my computer and it has the best picture. My old webcam I got like 8 years ago and it was so pixellated then it suddenly was just white with pink streaks. I would 100% suggest this to everyone. Very easy to adjust the angle and it sets up with zero effort.

Good camera for the price!

For what our company needs this for it will work great, we very rarely do Skype conference calls but needed one this past week! It worked great and came through fairly clear. Here is a picture lol Im sitting about 1.5-2 ft away from the camera.
