After a couple of uses, the tape measure will no longer retract. None of that worked because after taking the tape measure apart, as I was directed, I found that there was broken parts inside. After waiting 5 days, still no contact from the manufacturer. As of now, I have about an hour and a 1/2 of time wrapped up in fixing the tape measure that can't be fixed. Guess I will just chalk this up as a loss.
:UPDATE: A new tape measure came in the mail today. No one contacted me but glade it showed up.

Measures up
As a contractor I’ve had many different tape measures. I’d loose one, then go get another, but trying a different brand. What caught my attention was Lufkin’s color. The black tape and green numbers looks cool and much easier to read. The tip works great as it’s metal and easily hooks to a wall. Tape can be stretched out and does have a slight bend. Size and weight is just right, sits well on my belt, and has a good grip.

Cool looking tape measure...... But....
Doesn't really withstand the construction site environment. I was looking for a tape measure that not many workers have on site this way its easy to identify And also something that can replace the fatmax but this is not the one as you can see the blade easily chips and bends. Probably a good tape measure for interior work or residential work but not a good tape measure for industrial work.

Never ever buy this tape measure - won't last
I wanted to love this tape measure, but the tape itself is really thin and won't last. This tape is about to break and didn't even last 10 weeks.

Bad retract spring
I am an 18 yr fabrication/welding veteran. Before that I was in construction/remodeling/cabinetry. I’ve been around tape measures a long time, and had tried to use Lufkin as much as possible, partly because they were made only about 15 miles from where I live, and they were just really nice tape measures…until the last couple I bought. In my profession, I go through a tape every few months, not because I’m particularly hard on them, but because accuracy is very important and when the markings start to wear off, or the blade gets a kink or crack, it’s time for a new one. I don’t know if Ludlum has started using cheaper retract springs, but these last couple, after not even a full day have to be physically pushed in, if I can even get them pushed back in the case. I don’t know if they’ll ever get these back to what I am used to but I hope so. I don’t plan on buying any more until I find out that they’re back on track. As of now, I DO NOT recommend buying.

Garbage
I used this tape measure one time and it wouldn't retract. I stopped and 10', nothing pulled further, nothing, went all the way to 30' hoping something would catch, nothing. Thanks for the worthless puece of garbage Lufkin

DO NOT BUY - Expensive garbage
DO NOT BUY. Total garbage. Had it for 3 weeks, very light use for double checking dimensions, and the tape cracked. Absolute rip off. Wish I could give it 0 stars

It’s tough. It lasts. Used everyday.
I generate about 20 home inspection reports a week for work, on a normal week. In catastrophe environments with heavy storm damage, I’ve done 3-5x that.
In every inspection, I measure soffits, shingles, linear feat and width of fencing, sometimes the whole roof and anything else, etc. I’ve gone through numerous tape measures as they only last me 6 months to a year. This Lufkin 35’ has done the best. It stays in my tool belt always, and I believe I’ve only dropped it once, which may contribute to its longevity. It still retracts well when fully extended across a roof, and locks perfectly fine - no complaints.
With something used so frequently, I wanted the extra durability, which does add a little weight. I really like the contrast/coloring of the tape itself which at first I thought to be weird, but it grew on me.
I haven’t tested the 14’ stand-out in a while, but last time I did it still worked.
I’d recommend this product and would definitely purchase again. I was NOT compensated for this review.

Broke at the 6” mark
I’ve only had it about a month, if that. I can see something like this happening after a while of wear and tear, but not after having it for a month and only doing light layout with it.

Didn't even last one day.
This tape looks great, feels great and is easy to read.
My only problem is that it couldn't last one day in the field. The retractor mechanism stops with 10' left and one of the times it did retract it kinked, cracked the tape and cut me.
The tape sat for a while before I used it so I don't think I can even return or get a replacement.
