Good enough, doesn't provide quite enough gain

Packaging - Comes with everything you need, including the cable to plug into a computer. It comes with a paper with the information about the free software you get from buying it. I haven't tried it though.

Build quality - Fine, no metal. Completely plastic box.

Noise - I don't hear any buzz or hiss when monitoring with my headphones, even with gain all the way up.

Inputs - Good, having 2 XLR ports in this price seems pretty good compared to others. Headphone port alters sound a bit using it on my PC, so I only use it for direct monitoring. I don't use the speaker outputs on the back either, so can't comment on that.

Design - Good, I like the small size. I put it underneath a little lift on my desk that my monitors are on, and it slides under nicely. But since the knobs are on top it's not very easy to adjust them, but I never need to.

I only use this to plug my Shure SM57 into, and I don't hear any noise or buzz of any kind when monitoring my microphone with my headphones.

I also have to have the gain all the way up for my SM57 to be loud enough, and even then I'd like it to be a little louder. But even with the gain all the way up there's no noise or buzz of any sorts.

I tried plugging a guitar into it but I didn't switch it from line to guitar mode, so maybe that's why it didnt sound very good. I'm too lazy to test it again right now.

When you get the gain knob to 90% and greater, the gain gets extremely sensitive. 95% - 100% is a huge jump in loudness. I've seen other people say that too, so I'm not sure why it does that.

I don't require the phantom power for anything so I can't comment on that.

When plugging my headphones into it to use it on my computer, it seems like it alters the sound compared to when I just plug my headphones directly into my computer, and I don't like it as much, so I don't use it for that.

The direct monitoring is good though, no latency or anything. I'm not sure if the monitoring knob is sensitive like the gain because I have no reason to turn it that high.

More bangs for your bucks.

This little device is stellar. Absolutely love how easy it was to setup and use straight out of the box.

Great little audio input device.

In the past I had a large home studio with all sorts of stuff. I sold everything but regretted selling my Apogee audio interface, I could only lay down a track with Mac mics and speakers, the result was not good. I decided to buy a new input device but couldn’t justify spending hundreds on it. I stumbled on this perfect two input M-Audio audio interface and immediately bought it, I owned many M-Audio devices and was happy with their performance. This unit is no exception, it is the perfect songwriters tool or excellent for doing quick demos, acoustic or the whole band. I plugged it in my Mac and it instantly worked and with decent mic the sound was great. I’ve never bought an audio interface that was this easy to install, plug it in and you’re done. I highly recommend this unit for anyone that needs a simple easy to install audio interface.

Can’t beat the price

1) Very easy install: I have MacOS and it’s pretty much a plug-and-play solution (I did have to make some adjustments for my DAW but its a 5 minute job at most)

2) Great sound for the price: I’ve had more expensive audio interfaces in the past, such as Avid Mbox, and this one sounds pretty good considering how inexpensive it is.

3) Very simple interface: most beginners will find the interface very easy to learn right off the bat. Just make sure to read up on phantom power for your microphone use, that seems to be a lot of new users’ blind spot.

Do NOT Waste your money

Delivery instructions for this product were not followed, and produce was left on front steps, despite asking to leave things in carport, where it would be safe from weather changes.

Quality of produce is unclear, because I was not able to get a single M-audio rep to call me back, chat with me or answer my questions via email, as apparently they are too busy to contact their customers.

Returning the item and getting a product that will have a receptive customer support system.

If your buy this product, be prepare to get no customer support at all.

First, it claims to be compatible with mac, but it is not compatible with all macs

Then, when you reach out via email to get support and a call, they tell you to use the chat, then the chat is not accessible always

If you call, they want you to get a support code, but make it impossible to get a support code, and when you get one and call back, it tells you to go back to the support pages and find your own answers on their articles, which didn't have the answers in the first place, and that is why I was calling.

Good for sarting up

This is a nice product and its really easy first time users. It has a lot online support on YouTube, and it is recommended by a lot of people as a great option to start your first podcast. I find it great for the price, and even though I don't have Sonic or Universal Studios quality, it helps me stand out from amateurs.

M-Audio configuration with BOSE S1

I had to connect all my Apple products, BOSE S1 Pro portable speaker, KOSS Headphones amd the Bluetooth microphones as I play Alto Saxophone.

The entire configuration was perfect. Make sure you download the Software from M-AUDIO on your McBook Pro or Laptop.

It works great.

The seller sent the product well packed and promptly. All the accessories including the cards and the users manual were all included. The unit is like a new one.

I had also called the M-AUDIO a tech support but they charge your a fee for any technical support. But the configuration is very simple. You can watch videos on YouTube too to learn how to connect and set up your recording studio.

Very happy and satisfied.

Wow, what a surprise, this M-Audio is sick !

I run an amateur electronic music studio. That is I don't actively ask $$ for my work. Most of my synths are soft, and I wanted to add a Pro-Roland compose, so I could compose without a mixer. The Steinberg I used had no line inputs and was roughly 2 x as expensive as this bad little boy. I was not expecting a real pro unit inside a metal case. And the performance blew me away. It has an audio range of 10 hertz to 20 khz with less than (get this) less than 0.1 db variation. Well, my ears are old but I can still hear to around 10 kHz. This puppy blows the Steinberg out of the water. Its so good for 70 dollars I may get a backup, but doubt i'LL NEED IT, except perhaps on another computer. Just Buy ..

Perfect

Plug and play. Mac OS, no installs, just plug and record. Sounds great, easy to use!

Just Us!

Your Answer is This!

I am an online streamer for TikTok and Facebook. I play an Alesis Strike Pro SE and needed this interface to connect my drums to my iPhone for streaming. This is a must have for me. I love the controls for all of my inputs and as an added bonus, it has LED lights on the top that blink green and red for volume control. I really appreciate that feature. This works perfect for me and is so easy to use.

Good Quality with Great sound and but a Modest build and Audio Control

The M-track Duo is a good sounding modest quality audio interface. In comparison to most other mid to high tier audio interfaces like the Focusrite or Senheiser lines of USB audio interfaces it stacks up if only by the simple draw back in the needed use of sound filters. The use of the filters is needed but only mildly in correct of background sound, distortion, and unwanted pops and filters from enunciating words or clipping from the recording distance. Paired with Behringer C1 Condenser mic and comparing it on a side-by-side sound test using the MXL Mic Mate, the difference are minimal. The only difference I could distinguish was a slightly warmer sound coming from the M-Track Duo. If you are using this for podcast, basic recording sessions, streaming, or even music production it is recommended, if only for the sheer fact that most of the sound can be corrected with Compression, Expander and Noise reductions filters Using your DAW(Digital Audio Work) Station (i.e. OBS,MMM,FL Studios, Ableton, Pros Tools) while recording or in post production in a mastering Suite. 4/5 only due to the light build and clipping issues at level ten(10) of the gain Nobs. (raw audio test with two(2) Behringer C1 mics simultaneously on both in-put channel (1)One and in-put channel(2)Two.)

Not a durable device

After three weeks of use, the device was stucked on the Red light error. There was no solution on online, on the company website, on YouTube, and Forums.

Lots of people using this device has this same error. Search the internet for M-Track Duo stuck on Red Light and you'll see. I don't recommend buying this device it's a waste of money because it's not a durable device.

m-track duo with problemas

I bought this interface as it was highly recommended, wait 2 weeks for it to arrive and connect it and these 2 red lights appear, I look for solutions on the internet and there is nothing, I spent more than 170 dollars for nothing

look in my audio and they don't give me an answer

Not worth the money; no customer support.

Its a cheap interface. They know it. So don't expect any warranty, tech support or anything. It is easy to use; but that is about it. MacOS is compatible with like 90% of all USB interfaces... so don't get too excited. I guess I must have used mine too often. Had a good evening working, but woke up to the picture - two red light that don't go away. Its been well over 72 hours since submitting a help ticket and if you call you have to call London, so ...just good luck. The company has changed a lot, this product was supposed to be a good entry level device but its just not that well constructed. No way to repair or diagnose, its just screwed up and no way to fix it and no company support. And the sample software they send you is all just bloatware that is designed to get you to give your data over to Avid... and the toolbox is so limited you really DON"T get to experience what ProTools is, you get to see how limited and just how many payment gates a company can put on a music editor. Just buy the Scarlett 2i2, its actually worth it. I will never, as long as I live, waste another dime on this company. Some things you outgrow, and some things just refuse to grow.. what's the saying about time to put away childish things? Spend grown up money and get a decent interface, or spend your allowance on this piece of crap. Major disappointment.

I Almost Returned This Unit.

The first thing you notice, right off the bat, is how small and light this unit is. In a head to head physical fight, it wouldn't stand a chance against, say, a Focusrite or Steinberg interface. It's also interesting to note that the M-Track Duo has no operating light when it's on save for a quick flash of the guitar/mic input light when it's plugged into your computer. The included instructions are fairly simple, and almost unnecessary, because the unit itself is relatively simple. I first operated it without downloading the driver and it worked fine, limiting your audio and playback to 16bit/44.1KHz. With the driver, not only did I now have the ability to record and playback at 32bit/48KHz resolution, but the included ASIO driver works well, achieving excellent low latency in Cubase 11, Amplitube 5, and so on. I tested all the inputs and outputs are they worked fine, very nice and quiet. Using headphones, listening to the old songs was like listening to new music again. The audio was crisp, clean, clear, full bodied, full of decent highs, mids and lows. Everything was going well until I plugged my guitar in and fired up Amplitube 5. Immediately, I heard a high-pitch whining/squealing noise. I checked my guitar cable, my guitar, the software, changed different parameters in the software, tried all the different USB ports on my computer, then realized I was having ground loop hum, that annoying whine you get because the USB power and audio share the same line. After reading several reviews and watching YT videos, I'm going to invest in a USB filter. Once I do, I'll update this post. Technically, right now, the guitar is usable, and recordable, when the M-Track Duo input is set to 50% (12 o'clock). Past that, and using heavy distortion, you introduce the pesky squeal again.

Update: After using this unit for about a week, sadly, I had to return it. I searched and searched and did all I could to remove the high-pitched squeal emanating from it. i even bought a USB silence for $54. It didn't work. Thus, back to M-Audio with this unit. Too bad. I did like its small footprint and very, very good latency.

Where's the Headphone Volume?

Writing this after owning for just under an hour. This could be a really neat cool little unit. Build quality appeared to be good and it has a great layout. But the headphone amp needs more output power. Using a pair of Sony MDR-7506 headphones, having the headphone pot cranked up all the way resulted in insufficient volume.

Was really hoping for the best, given the price, after my Focusrite 2i2 bit the dust.
