It Was Unfortunately Broken Right Out of the Box

I really wanted to love this, but it did not perform as expected. It was packed well and comes in a professional looking box. Initially, when I plugged it in it was really low and muffled. Even when I spoke directly to the top of the microphone it was really just a whisper. I tried again later and it did work briefly when plugged directly into the computer with the included USB cable. Then I tried using it with the same manufacturer's audio mixer. It did not work at all. I tried it with an XLR cable and it did not work. I used Alexa to try and troubleshoot it and went through all of the required steps, but none of them worked. It never worked after that. There is no manufacturer's website and there is no manual included. It's a good looking microphone and it feels solid. It has some cool lights as well and some pretty good features, again if they worked, but they didn't on my unit. I received this microphone through vine to test, so there are no returns for me. Maybe I just got a bad unit but I have to base my review on my experience with the unit I received. Unfortunately, based on my experience with this unit, I cannot recommend it. However, you can always try and if it doesn't work for you a return is always an option.

Genuinely Worth Your Money. (Not a vine promo review + a hilarious 1-minute setup fix)

If you are scrolling through these reviews and hesitating because almost every single one has that "Vine Customer / Free Product" tag on it, I get it. I was super skeptical too. But despite it, I still bought this MAILANGSHI D2 Pro with my own hard-earned money, and after using it non-stop, I actually can tell you: this microphone is the real deal.

If you are a beginner who has no idea what "XLR," "192KHz," or "SPL" means, and you just want a microphone that sounds incredible for gaming with voice chat, calling, or singing without costing a fortune, this is the one to get. Here is my honest, transparent breakdown of the good, the bad, and how to get it working perfectly if your computer acts up.

First off, the sound quality is absolutely beautiful compared to standard built-in laptop microphones. The very second I switched over and did a test run with some friends on Discord, they noticed the difference in sound quality almost immediately. Because it is a dynamic cardioid microphone, it physically focuses only on the sounds directly in front of it. If you have a gaming laptop like mine or any standard laptop with fans that run loud enough to sound like a jet engine, this hardware naturally filters out that background hum so you don't have to rely on software noise gates that cut off your voice when you get too high or low. It captures those crisp details of your voice, making it perfect for recording or casual gaming.

The mic itself is built like a tank with an all-metal body and features a very cool RGB light ring that lets you cycle through multiple gradient and solid color modes, or turn them off completely if you want a clean look.

Unlike other budget microphones, you have absolute control right on the body with physical knobs to adjust your microphone gain and your headphone volume. There is also a mute button on top that glows your RGB light red to let you know when you are silenced. On top of that, they include a handy USB-C adapter in wire, meaning you can plug this microphone directly into your phone to record crystal-clear audio on the go.

Every purchase also comes with a warranty, which is amazing peace of mind in case the hardware ever decides to act up.

Now for some real talk about my actual setup experience. When I first plugged the microphone in, I couldn't hear my voice at all. I spent hours uninstalling virtual audio things, troubleshooting, and completely losing my mind, only to realize the funniest thing: the physical mic volume knob on the body of the microphone was simply turned all the way down to zero! Make sure you actually twist the physical knob up to 60% or 70% before you start testing your audio, or you’ll end up pulling your hair out over a completely silent mic.

Additionally, depending on your computer, Windows can get pretty confused when you plug in a professional USB mic. It often tries to set the microphone as your speaker, which sends your game audio directly to the empty headphone jack on the bottom of the mic instead of your headphones.

To fix this, simply open up your Sound Control Panel, disable your laptop’s built-in microphone array, and set your USB Audio Device as the default input. Make sure your default playback device is set back to your actual headphones or earbuds, and everything will run flawlessly. It’s a stellar microphone, and as long as you make sure Windows is pointing to the right devices, it will work beautifully!

For the price, you cannot beat this mic. It has professional XLR and USB hookups, looks premium, feels indestructible (I'd know because I accidently dropped it once), and sounds like a studio microphone. If you are on the fence, just buy it. Just remember to turn the physical volume knob up when you plug it in.

Clear and convenient microphone for work and gaming

I have been using this microphone for gaming, video calls, and occasional voice recordings, and it has been a noticeable improvement over the basic headset mic I was using before. The setup was straightforward and I was speaking into it within a few minutes without needing to troubleshoot anything. My voice comes through much clearer during meetings, and coworkers have commented that I sound more natural and easier to understand. The controls are conveniently placed, so I can quickly adjust the microphone level or headphone volume without opening software menus. The mute button has become especially useful when I need to cough or talk to someone in the room during a call. I also appreciate that the microphone feels solid and stays in place on the desk instead of shifting around when I move things nearby. The lighting adds a nice touch to the setup without being distracting, and I often leave it on a subtle setting while working. During gaming sessions, friends have said that background noise is reduced compared to my previous microphone. I have used it for recording a few short clips, and the playback sounded clean enough that I did not feel the need to do much editing afterward. The included stand keeps everything organized and saves me from having to buy extra accessories right away. It has made daily communication easier because I no longer have to repeat myself or raise my voice to be heard clearly. The convenience and improved audio quality have made the purchase feel worthwhile for the amount of time I spend on calls and gaming. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a dependable desktop microphone for remote work, streaming, gaming, or casual recording without dealing with a complicated setup

Unnecessary Lights

This is a decent mic for podcasting or casual VO. Seems some of the cost was put into the fancy lights that serve no real function (they don't even indicate whether it's on mute past a few seconds). It would have been better if they had invested in the recording and sound technology than the aesthetics. It does have an XLR port as well as USB for plug-and-play. The stand doesn't look like it fits the bottom of the mic at first, but I think it's because they wanted to offer an option of mounting it to a boom pole or the like. For what it actually does, I'm not sure I'd pay full price for this.

It’s worth spending a little extra for a good mic.

The only microphones I’ve used before this one, were cheap, low quality ones and it showed in my gaming steams. When I got this one, the difference was like night and day! The sound is so much crisper and perfectly clear! There’s crackling or white noise with it. Just pure sound. And it picks up my voice from a distance too! Grant it, it is quieter than if I were right next to it, but you can still hear me clearly with it.

I really appreciate that such a fine quality microphone has multiple options for hooking it up to my computer. The heavy base to it, is enough that it won’t tip over from being top heavy, or get knocked over easily because my cat ran by! Which has destroyed several of my microphones in the past. And while this one is pretty high for my budget, it’s shockingly priced well below the value of it! You’re really getting your money’s worth and more with this one.

Worth buying if it’s on sale

There are definitely nicer built mics out there for the cost of this one, my only gripe for the cost being so high is that its shell is made of a plastic instead of metal, but it does sound good and is easy to use the XLR does work which is good as I’ve reviewed mics where it doesn’t, the rgb does look good in person and is very easy change and is an actual button over touch which is nice. Overall its sounds and looks good but I’d wait to buy it on sale

Sturdy, Stylish, and Sounds Better Than Expected!

This microphone delivers impressive quality for the price and feels solidly built right out of the box. The all‑metal body and weighted stand give it a stable, premium feel, and setup was as simple as plugging it into my laptop via USB. I don’t podcast, but I enjoy video calls, and the jump in clarity compared to my laptop’s built‑in mic was immediately noticeable. Voices sound fuller and cleaner, and background noise is reduced enough to make meetings sound more professional.

The included wind/pop cover is nicely designed and blends cleanly into the mic body instead of looking like an afterthought. The RGB light band will appeal to gamers or anyone who likes a bit of flair, and it offers both rotating gradients and solid color options. If you prefer a cleaner look, the lighting can be turned off entirely.

Connectivity is flexible with both USB and XLR ports, and there’s a built‑in headphone jack for real‑time monitoring — a big plus for gaming or streaming. Separate volume controls for the mic and headset make it easy to dial in levels without digging through software menus.

For my use, the USB connection was ideal since it’s plug‑and‑play and required no extra setup. The only thing to note is that, like most desktop mics, you’ll want to position it fairly close to get the best sound.

Overall, this is a well‑constructed, great‑sounding microphone at a very reasonable price. Whether you’re gaming, joining video meetings, or starting out with streaming or podcasting, it’s a strong value and worth considering.

Hands Down the Best Sounding Mic I Own (With One Weird Flaw)

TL;DR: The audio quality on this mic completely blows away my other streaming and lapel mics. It features an awesome changing RGB light ring, dual USB and XLR connections, and a super long cord, but my foam cover came with a strange white stain.

I keep a few different microphones around my desk setup: a lapel mic, another standard USB mic, and the built-in microphone on my streaming camera. This one easily has the best voice quality of all of them, hands down. It sounds incredibly professional and crisp.

The design features are excellent. It comes with a super long cord that has a clever convertible adapter end, meaning it easily works with standard USB ports or USB-C. On the bottom, you get a headphone jack for direct monitoring and an XLR input so you can link it up to an audio interface if you want to upgrade your setup later. The light display ring looks really cool on camera, and when you hit the mute button, the ring changes to bright red so you don't accidentally stay unmuted. The foam cover also slides right off if you prefer the look of the metal grill underneath.

The only real issue's a cosmetic one. My foam windscreen arrived with some strange white stuff on the side of it that I just can't seem to wash off. I'm not sure if it's leftover manufacturing glue or a mark from being compressed tightly in the shipping box, which you can spot in the pictures I've included.

Aside from that one minor foam blemish, the actual performance of the microphone's gorgeous. It's an absolute stellar find if you want to elevate your audio.

Great microphone for a great price

This is a plug and play microphone that you can use for live streaming, recording podcasts, gaming, or just as your default microphone for your system.

I paired this with a mixer board from the same company and used it for gaming and cool sound effects. The sound quality is excellent and very clear according to my friends who heard me. It’s not too large and can be moved aside easily or just disconnected and put into a carry-bag if you’re going mobile with it. It isn’t a handheld microphone but a desk microphone to be used while stationary.

Great sound and a great addition to any gamer or podcaster setup.

Great Sound Quality and Easy Setup for Streaming & Gaming

I’m honestly very impressed with this microphone, especially for the price. The audio quality is clear, rich, and professional sounding whether I’m using it for gaming, livestreaming, video calls, or recording podcasts. Voices sound crisp without a lot of background noise, and the 192KHz/32bit quality really makes a noticeable difference compared to basic USB microphones. It picks up vocals well without sounding muffled or tinny.

One of my favorite features is that it supports both USB and XLR connections. The USB option makes setup incredibly simple for beginners because it’s basically plug-and-play, while the XLR compatibility gives the option to upgrade to a more professional audio setup later on. That versatility makes this microphone a great long-term investment for both casual and serious users.

The build quality also exceeded my expectations. The all-metal body feels sturdy, durable, and much more premium than many plastic microphones in this price range. The included desktop stand is stable and keeps the mic securely in place during use. I also appreciate the built-in gain and volume controls because they make it easy to quickly adjust audio levels without needing extra software.

The RGB lighting looks really nice on a gaming or streaming setup and adds a modern touch without being distracting. The mute button is another feature I ended up using more than expected, especially during livestreams and voice chats. It responds quickly and is very convenient to have directly on the microphone.

Overall, this microphone delivers excellent sound quality, premium features, and a sleek design at a very reasonable price. It works great for gaming, content creation, streaming, podcasts, and even work meetings. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality microphone that’s easy to use and feels much more expensive than it is.

Great Sound and Build Quality with a Few Usability Drawbacks

For the price, this microphone delivers impressively clear and natural sound, and the 192KHz/32bit support does make a noticeable difference compared to other mics I own. As a dynamic mic it does need to be angled correctly to pick up your voice, but once positioned well it captures audio with minimal background noise. The LED lighting is excellent, especially the clear mute/unmute indication, and having both USB‑C and XLR inputs is a huge plus for flexibility. I also really like the included plosive guard, which feels like premium material rather than the flimsy foam that often comes with other microphones, and the stand and body are solid metal and feel very durable.

However, pressing the mute button produces a fairly loud mechanical click that is picked up in recordings, which is a big downside for meetings or vocal work where you need to mute frequently. Another minor but real annoyance is that the controls end up facing away from you when you tilt the mic toward your mouth, making on‑the‑fly adjustments less convenient. Despite these shortcomings, this is still a very good microphone for the money, especially if you prioritize sound quality and build over perfectly quiet controls and ideal control placement.

Great entry level podcast mic!

I host a podcast with my buddy. We have been doing this on an off for years now. While we are amateurs, we have a decent amount of experience. This one is very solid for its price point! The design is great. XLR and USB-C input is a HUGE bonus. You can take this on the go or run it at home on a mic arm. The LED is a nice touch, but not necessary. I also really appreciate how it has volume knobs on the mic itself! I was using a Shure PGA48 for our record sessions, but found that this little guy had a more rich sound for spoken word audio in contained environments. While the Shure microphone is of a higher quality, the Mailangshi was better tuned and works very well for such a cheap price. I would not recommend this to the pros, but if you are starting out and this is in your budget, go for it! You will not be disappointed. I gave a this bad boy 4 stars specifically because the build quality, while not bad, is not great. A more reputable brand has that heavy' tight feel. This build feels a bit lighter and cheap. That being said, it is still my daily driver!

Simple Plug-and-Play Performance with Great Ambient Noise Filtering

TL;DR: A solid entry-level plug-and-play mic with dual connectivity (USB/XLR), clear sound quality for the price, and effective background noise cancellation.

Straight out of the box, I plugged this mic into my PC and it worked immediately. No setup, no troubleshooting—just simple and ready to go. Within a few seconds, I jumped onto Discord to test it out. The connectivity was seamless, and the sound quality matches expectations for this price range. Plus, having both USB and XLR connection options is a convenient feature for when I upgrade my setup down the road.

The customizable lighting is a nice touch too. It adds a bit of flavor to my desk setup, allowing me to match the colors to my room's design instead of just being another clunky piece of plastic cluttering the space.

The noise cancellation definitely works. While I was testing it on Discord, my phone started ringing. Discord has its own noise suppression, but it rarely catches everything—yet nobody on the call heard a single ring. It might not be broadcasting at a high-end studio level, but it is a good entry-level mic that will look good and sound clear on a stream.

Just a practical tip on the cable: it’s long and useful, but you do need to keep the mic close to you. If you sit too far back, the noise cancellation might mistake your voice for background noise and cut you out. Once you find that sweet spot, you’re good to go in minutes. It's simple, easy, and feels built to last.

Very cool

A really nice podcast microphone that works well and it’s very good for gaming and streaming and the audio quality is very good and the RGB lighting is really nice. This mic is well put together and I didn’t have any problems connecting it. I also like the price of this mic and it seems to be very durable and I like the desktop stand. This is just a awesome mic

Let's Be Honest! REVIEWS

Shockingly Good Audio Quality for the Price

This is my first microphone from this brand. I honestly had not even heard of them before, but once I read the specs on this mic, I immediately knew I had to try it out. I’m a content creator and I also review products, so I go through a LOT of microphones. Lately I have been getting a lot of mics with plastic builds, so when I saw this one had a full metal chassis along with these specs, I was definitely interested.

Once I got it out of the box, the first thing that stood out to me was the build quality. This thing feels solid. The all metal body gives it a much more premium feel and it helps a lot with handling noise and resonance. The handling noise on this mic is basically zero, which immediately impressed me.

Then I took a closer look at the pop filter design and honestly I have never seen one quite like this before. It is not just one of those generic slip over foam covers. It feels thicker and more intentional in the way it is designed around the mic itself, and whatever they did with it absolutely works because this microphone handles plosives and sibilance REALLY well, especially when talking close to the mic.

The audio quality is honestly amazing. The 192kHz/32bit recording specs sound fantastic and the mic captures a ton of detail while still sounding clean and full. It also has a really strong signal to noise ratio, and overall it just sounds way more expensive than it actually is.

The RGB lighting was also surprisingly cool. Normally I am not super into RGB microphones because I lean more toward the sleek podcast studio look, but the lighting on this one actually has a nice gradient effect through the lens cover that gives it kind of a retro vibe while still looking modern. The nice thing is you can turn the RGB off if you want to.

I also really appreciate that this mic gives you both USB and XLR connectivity. That is a huge deal because you can use it as a simple plug and play USB mic or hook it into a professional audio interface later if you want to upgrade your setup. The built in headphone monitoring, gain control, volume control, mute button, and included desktop stand make this thing ridiculously feature packed for the price.

The desktop stand is actually pretty solid too. It has thick rubber padding underneath that helps absorb vibrations so sound does not travel up through the desk into the microphone. I also love that you can remove it from the stand and mount it on a boom arm if that is more your style.

I own a lot of microphones because I have multiple setups including a portable studio, a secondary studio, cohosts, guests, and different recording situations. Sometimes I need multiple matching mics, and that gets expensive fast. That is why microphones like this are so important because you can get excellent sound quality without spending a fortune. For the price of some higher end microphones, you could literally buy multiple of these and still have amazing audio quality.

I use all kinds of mics from podcast mics to gaming mics to wireless systems, and this one absolutely got my attention. It punches way above its price range. The build quality is excellent, the sound quality is excellent, and the value for the money is honestly crazy.

My number one rule with content creation has always been that audio is king. You could film on a toaster and people would still watch if the audio is good and the content is interesting. But people will leave almost instantly if the audio sounds bad, even if the video quality looks incredible. That is why I care so much about microphones, and this one absolutely delivers.

Overall, I am officially a fan of this brand now and I cannot wait to see what other microphones and audio gear they offer because this one seriously impressed me.
