amazing microphone!

i use the xlr cable and an audio interface with this microphone and it sounds amazing. i receive endless compliments! :) after having it for a year there hasn’t been an issue with the shock mount breaking. it’s definitely an affordable purchase if you’re starting out with xlr and audio interfaces.

Buy It Doooo It

I’ve been using this same microphone for 2 years. I’ll probably never get another brand! This is truly the biggest bang for your buck that I’ve encountered trying to find an affordable but high quality microphone. It is so crisp and does an amazing job at noise compression. No one can hear the air blowing, chewing, not anything besides when you speak.

So if you are in search for an affordable streaming microphone, or just a microphone you want to use to talk to your friends… TRUST MEEEE, you will not get bullied about having a “Dollar General” mic hahaha. You will get compliments trusttt

Dead Open Box mic

Received an open box item. The mic had multiple scratches on it when I opened the box, the USB cable was knotted up and the screw was jammed into the stand. Mic won't even power on when plugged in. Completely used and defective waste of time.

Good looking Mic

I recently upgraded my audio setup with this new microphone, aiming for better sound quality through an XLR connection and full use of my audio interface. This mic has exceeded my expectations, and I couldn't be happier with my setup.

Design and Aesthetics: The microphone's sleek design perfectly complements my black and white setup. The LED light around the mic is a classy touch, providing a subtle glow without the overwhelming blast of RGB that my previous fifine microphone had.

Performance: My setup focuses on quality and style on a budget, and this microphone delivers on both fronts. During meetings, it's crucial for my equipment to not only function but perform exceptionally well. This mic provides clear audio without any interruptions, ensuring my voice is heard loud and clear.

Value for Money: Considering its performance and design, this microphone is worth the price. It strikes a balance between affordability and high quality, making it a great investment for anyone looking to upgrade their audio setup.

I highly recommend getting a protection plan for added peace of mind. It's a small additional cost that can save you from potential headaches down the line.

Great Microphone Quality - Shock Mount Issue

I bought this microphone at the beginning of 2024 so not a full year yet and I have been pleased with it. I has definitely been an upgrade from my previous microphone and I love that it has software to play around with its sound qual. In the box it came with the microphone, shock mount, and the usb-c cord. There is also an option to use XLR with it but the cord does not come with it so you will have to buy that separately.

The one problem I encountered is the shock mount breaking on me with light use not even a full year into having it. I was a bit upset however Maono Customer Service has been amazing and they have offered to replace it for me. They responded very quickly and addressed the issue. Needless to say I am very pleased with the customer support and the microphone as well but I'd advise to be a little cautious of the shock mount issue if you do go ahead with purchasing the microphone.

Great customer service

The inner part of the absorber snapped, I reached out to customer service and they were very kind and offered to replace the entire mic! Ive owned this mic for just about 10 months and it's so easy to use, pretty fool proof, and okay sound for a $50 mix. I'm obsessed with RGB sooo this fits the bill!

Good Mic, Good customer service, unfortunate mounting bracket.

I've had this mic for over 10 months at this point, and it's actually held up really well. I've had no audio or technical issues until just this week. The only issue I've had has been with the mounting ring that holds the mic to the shock absorbing system. The mounting ring is sadly made out of plastic and it just broke out of nowhere this week. I reached out to Maono's customer service team and they actually got back to me within 12 hours. They were super supportive, kind and responsive to my issue. I appreciate their feedback and action on this matter.

I've Been happy until the mounting broke

Great mic been enjoying it but in less than a year I have had the mount break.

Seems to me that its just too much stress for a tiny piece of plastic. Its the same break point I've seen in other reviews.

Best budget mic

This mic is very affordable and the best option for anyone’s budget in my opinion. It sounds good and looks good. I like the aesthetic of the white version so that’s the one I got. Rgb is really nice too since it’s very subtle

Great mic with minor flaw, please read.

Starting with the mic quality, output is very good and I’ve received a lot of compliments on work calls. I didn’t have any issues with setup, I have this plugged into a usb switch and I change swap computers flawlessly.

The only issue I have with the unit is the shock mount. It is a thin plastic that is under constant tension from the rubber shocks. I had bumped the mic against my monitor and the shock mount ring snapped in half. I have to add that it was a light tap and not much force. I was able to chain 4 zip ties together as a temporary solution.

Maono customer service offered a new replacement unit and hence the 5 stars. Please be aware of the sensitivity of the shock mount!!

The Best Microphone, WithIn its price range.

As a content creator, finding the perfect microphone is key, with the Maono PD200x, replacing my AT2020 was easy, this microphone has found its way into my current desk setup permanently.

The Maono PD200x is unbeatable. It offers premium sound quality, excellent build, and versatility at a fraction of the cost of other high-end microphones on the market.

In conclusion, the Maono PD200x microphone is a game-changer for podcasters, streamers, and content creators alike.

It sets a new standard for professional-grade audio equipment. If you're serious about getting started or taking your recordings to the next level, look no further than the PD200x.

I love it, I will be getting 2 more for my podcast set up for my clients.

Not Sure at First

When I got this I was not sure about it. I was worried about buying a cheaper non pro brand mic. But when I started using it, I really liked it! It sounds nice had good features. You can plug headphone into the mic to get the sound before your processing. XLR or USB makes it very useful. I have it plugged into my pc for simple recording and into a mixer when I have more mics. The software is good, I wish it had a few other features but it has everything it needs, EQ, etc. I would definitely buy another.

Bryan Jarquin

I'm amazed with this microphone but the shock mount is terrible bad.

The mic is incredibly solid and good overall (Quality, material, and value for the pocket). It has many ways to customize by yourself... You can use the knob, downloading the software or combine it with any Maono mixer to get the fullest sound quality.

Nevertheless, the inner circle of the shock mount is just a toy. You should investigate and find a better shock mount for your podcast microphone. Mine lasted only six months before breaking, despite my best efforts to handle it carefully. They claimed to have reinforced it (just a marketing lie), and while I received a free replacement, its durability was just as bad—it broke the same way as the first one.

Calidad/Precio, buenas funcionalidades.

Definitivamente 💯 recomendado..!

Great USB mic for the price (XLR too)

Coming from a fifine 40$ mic that i bought years ago, for the $75 I paid when it wasn’t on sale was a great deal. It sounds full and clearer then my other usb mic and my friends could instantly tell a difference.

*important note: if your XLR this mic the program does not work nor does the headset feedback, these are usb only features*

It has option for XLR, which I will be trying out in the future with fifins new XLR interface, But for USB it’s more then enough for even a YouTuber with some adjusting. I do use this for my own videos and it’s sound clarity and quality is above its price point. Also it’s recommended to talk into the top of the mix not the sides. The way this capsule is designed your best sound quality is from the top.

The program works well and isn’t sloppy like I thought it would be. It’s well put together with intuitive design and lay outs. You can mute your mic, Change your RgB color and brightness form it and even have advanced options for mic sound adjustment like EQ (tip: they don’t work that well your better off leaving it alone).

The mute button feels good and is clicky but not cheap clicky , it feels premium.

Cons:

The RGb button on the bottom of the mic is hard to press in to activate and it’s in a weird spot so I’d recommend using the program for the mic which you can also adjust all rgb settings like color and brightness within it.

The “gains” dial on the mic is also pretty “meh” with no Phyisical markings on it so it’s hard to tell how much gain your at. I’d recommend messing with your “gain” setting in the program as well. In fact I recommend using this mic pretty much entirely off the app itself and not the mic itself.

A negative about the mic is when you turn your computer off your rgb stays on so you’ll need to use the button or turn it off in the app before turning off your computer.

The ring that holds the mic does feel cheap. the mic itself feels and looks premium but the ring is this ugly glossy plastic that looks like it’s where a lot of the cost cutting was at.

The last con is the buttons and dials on the mic. Your RGb is on the bottom which you can’t get to and your gain and mute button become impossible to see when your talking into the top of the mic. This is a preference thing but just be mindful of this when your pick out your mics, with this one you’ll have a hard time controlling it from the mic if your not using an XLR or the app to control its settings which seems like how it was mostly intended to be used anyways.

Great!

Works exceptionally well! This little mic has a lot goin' on! In USB mode, the "Link" software allows for some tasty mic presets, (kinda like "modeling") as well as some useful compression and limiting features and more. I'll be looking forward to whatever upgrades Maono adds to this neat little application. Can't be beat at this price point!😎

Great sound, Great value!

What's great:

- Clean and crisp sound, more high-end response and clarity than Shure SM7B

- USB interface and headphone jack

- Software controlled EQ

- Dynamic capsule doesn't pick up background noises as easily as condenser mics

- XLR output option

- Great value

Room to improve:

- Mute button creates audible clicking noise when pressed and is heard through the mic

Overall this is a great mic that I would recommend for podcasting, recording, and web conferencing because it has a great sound especially when compared to more expensive mics like the Shure MV7 and SM7B. This mic provides plenty of gain using its built in USB audio interface, and you can also use it with an XLR mixer or separate audio interface with XLR inputs and pre-amps. It doesn't require as much pre-amp gain as a Shure SM7B, so it's easier to get a good sound level without extra gain or outboard gear like a Cloudlifter or similar devices.

The RGB light is customizable using the downloadable software control app. But the RGB light doesn't work when connected via XLR.

The only downside I have is that the built-in mic mute button on the side of the mic creates an audible clicking sound that is picked up by the mic, so in my opinion the mute button is unusable because everyone would hear it.

But I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend this mic to anyone who is looking for a less expensive alternative to a Shure MV7 or SM7B but still get the same type of sound--perhaps even a bit clearer in the high frequency range!

Budget price with tested unexpectedly good performance

Item: Maono mdl. PD200X Dynamic Mic w-XLR/USB output

Price: $62.99 at time of review 03 04 23

The Maono PD200X may be budget priced. But it proved to test out quite well. And what about the RGB feature? I couldn’t figure out what it meant until I started playing around with the LED light ring encircling the upper body of the microphone. It’s not just a white-light ring. The color can be changed to another solid color, or if you’re inclined, a color-changing-pulsating RGB ring. I doubt I’d ever use that feature, but it’s there.

My primary video work is done using my Sony A6400 camera. And for audio, I use a variety of wireless microphones; one wireless set is my daily use system. Using a wireless mic that runs my audio signal directly into the camera works well for most videos. However, more and more I’m adding narration and voice-over segments. And that’s when I’ll go to my inventory of dynamic or condenser USB microphones. I can take those files and synchronize them to my camera audio. This is done in my video editing software. It’s the back and forth that helped me appreciate the stark difference between the Moana and the wireless lapel mic. The Moana shines as a typical dynamic microphone; up front and personal audio. And in this case, the Moana PD200X also provides a nice depth of tones. I’ve found that ‘inserting’ dynamic mic audio into a video also helps to emphasize a segment. The Moana PD200X isn't just for streaming and gaming. It’s for narration, voice-over work and maybe as the primary audio in my videos.

The only adjustment I made to the recorded audio files from the Moana was to boost the amplitude a bit to better match my wireless systems audio level. Other than that, I found that the Moana could provide an audio quality very close to my prosumer mics which cost twice as much and more. For both audio quality and price point, I found it easy to rate this mic as 5-star item.
