Loud Enough to Annoy the Neighbors, Pretty Enough That I Don’t Feel Bad About It

I bought the Marshall Kilburn III because I wanted a Bluetooth speaker that actually sounded like music instead of a tinny phone on a table, and this one delivers: the bass is real rather than a polite suggestion, it gets plenty loud without immediately falling apart, and the physical bass and treble knobs plus the ability to skip tracks from the speaker itself make it easy to use without digging for a phone every thirty seconds. I have not tried the app, so I cannot comment on that part, but the analog-style controls and the black-and-brass look already do most of the work for me. It is a little spendy, no question, but I specifically wanted something that looked good sitting out and still performed, and I think I got both. The only downside is that once you hear it at a proper volume, going back to a cheap portable speaker feels like listening through a cereal box.

Sonido balanceado

Terrible Experience

I wouldn't buy it. In December 2025, I bought one for my dad for his birthday. It was working fine, but a month ago, in July, it stopped working. So now I'm stuck with a super expensive speaker that stopped working after just seven months…it connects, but there's no sound.

Best Bluetooth speaker I've owned

This thing is incredible. I've used tons of Bluetooth speakers over the years, from Bose, Sonos, Anker, JBL etc. The 360 sound is fantastic. The bass is fantastic. The battery life is unbeatable. I travel for a living, and while this is big and I have my smaller Marshall if I need to pack light, the fact that a speaker this loud, this great sounding, is portable is amazing. I love that this version is USB-C unlike the older one. The value is great, considering the quality. The brass knobs. The connectivity. This thing thumps and it gets LOUD. But it doesn't sound like a small speaker, it fills the room. Awesome speaker

Tested 7 portable speakers and this one won

I ordered around 7 different portable speakers and this one is the best no question. I listen to music a lot at home and in the backyard and the sound quality honestly surprised me compared to everything else I tried

Battery is great and its weatherproof too. I wish it was fully waterproof but this thing doesnt need to come in the shower with me lol. I was seriously considering the Sonos smart option but the sound difference was so noticeable I went with this one

Also love that you can pair it with other Marshall speakers. Its not super heavy but I wouldnt take it on long hikes or anywhere I have to carry it the whole way

10/10, Highly Recommend Killburn III!

This thing is awesome. I have been in the market for a portable speaker for a while and I'm very glad I went with Marshall.

I have friends with Bose and Sonos speakers and those work well but the quality of Marshall is still unmatched, in my opinion. Highly recommend!

Premium Amp-Inspired Design, Deep Bass, Rock-Solid Bluetooth, and Big Sound in a Portable Package

I picked up the Marshall KILBURN3BAB Kilburn III in black, and I’ve got to say—it’s outstanding. Right off the bat, the guitar chime at startup and shutdown is just sooo cool and sets the tone for the whole experience.

The sound quality is excellent. I use it in the backyard while doing yard work or just relaxing, and this thing really fills the space. It gets loud without losing clarity, and the bass is deep and strong without fading out outdoors. For a portable speaker, it punches way above its size.

The build quality is equally impressive. The finish looks and feels premium, with that iconic Marshall guitar amp vibe that makes it stand out from any ordinary Bluetooth speaker.

Bluetooth connectivity is the best I’ve ever experienced. As soon as I powered it on, my phone prompted me to connect, and it paired instantly without hassle. Even moving around the yard, the signal stayed rock-solid with no interference or dropouts.

Overall, this speaker is top notch. If you’ve got the budget for a high-quality portable speaker that delivers on style, sound, and performance, the Kilburn III is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

Marshall does it again!

I'm in love with Marshall! I was introduced to this brand by my son and absolutely love it. This portable speaker definitely lives up to the Marshall tradition. First of all, the look of the speaker is just so nice. It looks great in a space, has a nice little carry handle, and is ridiculously easy to use. It charges quickly, and the charge seems to last forever. I use it outside quite a bit and can definitely run on one charge for an entire weekend, using it for a good part of each day. It connects seamlessly with my phone, and doesn't lose connection, like some other speakers I've had. The clarity is outstanding, with all types of music sounding great. It's definitely on the pricey side, but for me, the esthetic & performance make it worth the price. I'm very pleased.

Amazing Sound in a Tiny Package

What can I say. This thing is simply amazing. The build quality is on par with their amps. Quality material. The feel of the knobs and switches is like that of a vintage amp. They just feel good to turn. I really like the on/off switch. It has a play/skip button on the other side. An AUX port in the back for playing external stuff. The bluetooth works flawlessly and is super easy to setup.

It did have a firmware update when I downloaded the app so that took a little time. Other than that, the setup was super easy. Using the app, you can further customize the EQ, gaining greater control over the sound. You can also switch between profiles using one of the buttons on the speaker.

The battery life is amazing. I charged it up on the 4th and literally played music all day. I was out getting the pool ready and some other outside stuff that morning. I put on a playlist and it played music all the way until 7pm. This was at about half volume or less. When I checked the battery indicator on the speaker, it had only dropped a couple bars.

Everyone was amazed at the clarity and sound quality. It doesn't have the thump you in the chest bass but you can hear the bass and its clear. The highs are crisp as well without being harsh. Very easy on the ears. No ear fatigue when listening to this for extended periods of time. You do get what you pay for and for the sound quality and price, this is amazing.

Impressive sound quality!

The sound quality of the Marshall portable speaker system is amazing. The system requires a free download of the Marshall app- which was super easy. The speaker charges easily with provided charging cord. The control

Panel is user friendly and easy to adjust . I really appreciate the look of the speaker- which is well made and has a professional look. The control

Panel is impressive and easy to adjust to get the perfect sound. This speaker is powerful and gives music the depth it deserves. While the speaker is a bit larger than other speakers I have used in the past, the size allows for more components to make the sound next level. I appreciate the functionality of this speaker, with the stainless steel on off switch that is durable and should last for many years. Overall, impressive sound quality and a sleek looking speaker.

This is simply an amazing speaker!

This is the most phenomenal speaker I have heard. It is also the best looking speaker I have seen. I love the manual controls, they are both clear and functional, and make the speaker look even better. I'm not sure exactly how to better my thoughts on the speaker. It is simply amazing!

Update: This speaker has the clearest sound I have ever heard. I am hearing nuances to music that I have not heard before. I shared the speaker with a friend in the music industry and he was equally impressed. The clarity is there regardless of the volume. I continue to be amazed.

So beautiful! And sounds great!

I received the Marshall Kilburn III Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black & Brass - right before spending 2 weeks at the beach. I initially planned on taking it, with the portability and promise of 50+ hours of battery life. However, the bearded boyfriend and I both were blown away by the style and design of this speaker we decided to keep it away from the salt, sand, and humidity.

This speaker is STUNNING. The strap is removable, and velvet lined, very guitar case and strap inspired. It is even padded, not that the Kilburn III is heavy. I love the on button, which is a brass aux toggle. The real brass control panel, with easy-to-use brass dials, is easy to see and operate. I LOVE the memory function, which allows users to save their exact balance preferences, so no more arguments with "way too much bass" boyfriend. I did have to download the Marshall app for Bluetooth pairing, but again, there are some fun personal preferences within the app. Sound quality is off the charts and the volume is enough to fill our house and carry onto the patio.

We are normal people who just love listening to music. The Kilburn III has surpassed our half dozen other Bluetooth speakers by far. And beyond that, I just deeply appreciate and love how this speaker looks! I would leave it out in my house between uses rather than stowaway in a cabinet. It just looks stunning and matches fits into our style perfectly. Granted, this is now the most expensive portable speaker we own but I cannot find any downsides with design, sound, or operation.

Massive improvement over the Kilburn II!

I have the previous version of the Marshall Kilburn II before receiving this updated Kilburn III to try out and I am blown away by the sound quality improvements! The vocals are actually crisp and clear and fills the room with good bass and midtowns compared to the previous version where everything sounded more muted like down mixing stereo audio to a mono channel. While the Kilburn II already feels like a premium bluetooth speaker, this upgraded III model takes it up a notch with digital dials that have matching red LEDs that illuminate the exact setting mark. It's not necessary but definitely adds a bit to the quality and premium feel. This is by no means an inexpensive bluetooth speaker, but this also doubles as a display piece with the iconic design and the superb sound quality. Also upgrade is a USB-C charging, which is essential these days - I no longer have to carry around a 110 volt appliance plug that the previous version of this speaker uses. One minor issue is they should put a rubber dust/moisture cap around the USB-C outlet like what was on the Kilburn II's power outlet. The setup was easy and it pairs just like any other bluetooth speaker - my iPhone recognized it under the bluetooth settings the moment I turned it on. Although Marshall has an app for this speaker, it's not necessary to use it as a basic speaker since the base/trebel/volumn is all adjustable with the built in control knobs

Awesome bluetooth speaker!

This thing is absolutely amazing! The sound is great and rivals my surround sound system. It goes very loud and has deep bass. There is an app you need to download to use it, but it is easy to make full equalizer adjustments in the app. The overall appearance looks just like a Marshall amp and even the controls on the top are the same as an amp. It is larger than my other bluetooth speaker but has a handle attached to it for easy carrying. It is not overly heavy at all. Super cool bluetooth speaker!

Premium Sound & Refined Design - Marshall Kilburn III BT Speaker

I play guitar and have been familiar with the excellent sound and reputation of Marshall speakers for a long time. Therefore, I already had high expectations for the new Kilburn III BT speaker. Being the third generation in this very successful series, Marshall had made many design improvements from sound quality refinements to intuitive controls to industry leading battery life. The controls include a spring loaded toggle power switch, Mode (M) switch, BT pairing switch, Volume/Bass/Treble knobs with LED indicators to display the current settings and lastly, media Skip/Play/Pause switches. The Volume knob LEDs have three steps of brightness to increase the granularity of the Volume display. Adjusting the Volume knob also changed the volume setting on my smartphone.

Even though the Marshall phone App was not required to use the speaker, it added features such as custom EQ settings and Firmware updates, therefore, I would recommend installing it. Because there were already physical Bass/Treble controls, it seemed that the EQ settings in the App may be redundant but I could also see the convenience of being able to toggle between two EQ settings. The Mode (M) switch could be configured to toggle between two EQ settings (or "Do Nothing"). The "M" Mode LED blinked one or two times to indicate the selected EQ setting. Also, I chose the maximum "Battery Preservation" mode to maximize the life of the built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. As I mentioned about the refinement of features, I really appreciated the ability to configure the Time Out/Shut Off timer in the App.

There was one 4" woofer with a bass port in the back. One 2" high frequency driver facing the front and another 2" high frequency driver facing the rear to provide the 360 degrees surround sound. I would agree that the speaker did sound quite good from the front as well as from the rear. After a short break-in period, the boomy bass began to balance out with the rest of the frequency bands. The eventual bass result was solid and punchy. The midrange was smooth and natural. The highs were clear and detailed. The overall sound was very musical and pleasant that I could listen to the speaker for hours without fatigue which is a rare achievement for most portable speakers. There was plenty of volume for my average size listening room and the sound quality remained consistently clean for reasonable listening levels considering its portable size.

I really liked the universal USB-C charger port (instead of another proprietary charger!) which also doubled as a power bank to charge another electronic device. The carrying handle was so convenient for taking the speaker along with me. Last but not least, there was a battery compartment at bottom of the speaker for replacement when needed (See pics). Overall, I really, really liked the Kilburn III for its size, weight, battery life, durability, PREMIUM sound quality, convenient physical control knobs, LED indicators and the excellent "Marshall" brand aesthetics. The ONLY negative comment that I could possibly make about this AWESOME speaker is that the ($380 USD) price may be out of reach for some shoppers. To be clear, I'm NOT recommending the MLOVE over the Marshall. By far, I think that the Marshall IS the speaker to purchase if it's within your budget. Happy listening!

Premium Sound, All-Day Battery, and Stylish Design

This speaker seriously delivers! I’ve gotten over 50 hours of playtime on a single charge, which is perfect for weekends away or long days outside. The 360° sound is legit, no matter where you are in the room (or outside), the audio stays clear and rich. Make sure that you do not stay too close when it’s at high volume because this small speaker is packed with power, it actually makes my whole room vibrate!

The build is super solid, with dust and splash resistance, I also love the dynamic loudness, it adjusts the sound balance at different volumes, so it always sounds just right. The controls feel great with that classic Marshall vibe, and as a bonus, it even charges my phone on the go. Besides great sound, it looks extremely good and would make a perfect stylish decor piece in any room

Overall, this is a pieace of art.

Probably the best small Bluetooth speaker on the planet

In just the last six years I have listened to hundreds of Bluetooth speakers and have written dozens if not a hundred reviews. I purchased a lot of the speakers, some costing over $500. I'm pretty familiar with the market.

I do not mention competing speakers in my reviews.

When I listen to music (which is every day, sometimes ALL DAY and night) I want it to sound like it did when it was recorded, what I call "The One True Sound". Bluetooth speakers of course will not do this, and frankly most speakers will not reproduce sound that exactly. But we always want something to sound as good as possible.

I can usually tell within the first few seconds if I'm going to want to listen to a speaker for any length of time.

The instant I turned this Marshall Kilburn III on I was stunned. When I adjusted the Bass and Treble to my liking (basically maxed out both) I knew that I had a new favorite "small" speaker. Frankly, this speaker sounds better than a lot of much larger speakers (from the "Big Brand Names")

When I placed this speaker in some of my favorite bass traps the result was frankly unbelievable. I have personally built some of my own subwoofers, and I find the bass output of this speaker to be just stunningly amazing.

A LOT of speakers claim "room filling bass" or some other nonsense and don't come close to delivering. The Marshall advertisement doesn't even mention this, but the low frequency response is amazing. I'm assuming that Alien Technology is being used to accomplish this. While most manufacturers use passive radiators to try to pump up the Bass, Marshall obviously used a scientifically designed bass port to enhance the bass.

I'll let all the experts with their fancy equipment chart the frequency response curve for this unit while I enjoy the speaker in the meantime knowing that it is spectacular, numbers notwithstanding.

As good as the bass response it, the high frequency reproduction is also spectacular. Superb clarity with a wide soundstage, not super directional like most treble outputs.

This speaker does everything right for its size, and beyond. Of course there are better speakers, but they are much larger with bigger drivers, or more of them.

I realize that sound is personal preference, but this speaker checks all the boxes for me (considering its size).

The aesthetics are also spectacular. The red LED markers next to the controls are pretty neat. I really appreciate KNOBS that turn for controls, my personal preference.

Even the carrying handle has a red felt insert on the inside.

And a replaceable battery?!! Wow.

A lot of Bluetooth speakers (especially the low-cost ones) have some really annoying sounds (that are way too loud!) when they do anything, but this Marshall has nice demur sounds that are perfectly fine, and not loud.

I will admit that this is a very expensive unit, but it certainly delivers with superb sound reproduction making it well worth the investment.

This speaker has found a permanent home in my speaker collection, and I look forward to listening to it for years to come.

My Highest Recommendation to the ³power!

A Real Powerhouse

This Marshall Bluetooth speaker is a real powerhouse. It has crisp, clear sound and rich bass. It has controls on the top for adjusting the volume, bass and treble. It pairs easily and is rechargeable (charging cable included). It also features control by way of a downloadable app. It has a convenient carry strap for easy moving to any location. The whole unit screams QUALITY! It will deliver fantastic sound for parties, the beach or just at home listening. It is the best sounding Bluetooth speaker I’ve ever heard.

This little thing packs superb quality sound!

This little thing packs superb quality sound! It looks like a little guitar amp, and the sound is crisp and clear.

The buttons are easy to use, but the app is even nicer! Adjust the sound, even taking surroundings into consideration! It’s surprisingly lightweight for the power it holds!

It looks classy and the red velvet lining on the handle is such an elegant touch!

Battery life is excellent, takes a bit to fully charge but you don’t have to charge it often! Also acts as a power bank to charge your phone on the go!

You get what you pay for… and with this Kilburn 3, you get amazing quality sound.
