It's hard to read quickly, bulky and heavy

A Metabo fan here but this tape is not the one, at least not for what I do (fine finish carpentry). I have very much enjoyed all of my Metabo products but I loathe this tape measure. I loan it to others almost hoping they take it.

It's hard to quickly read, bulky, and heavy. The 1/8ths are marked and touching the bottom lines making it impossible to discern easily. A big, dumb, dark box overlapping each foot increment. It takes seconds to find the correct fraction line. So annoying.

There are a few good things about the tape. It's probably good for surveying or estimating. Not good for precision working.

So far, the best daily tape.

Had it for about a month and now it works like a charm, better than my daily Milwaukee! It’s on the bigger side but I’m ok with that cus I use it 24/7. The best visibility and very sturdy.

Nearly My Favorite Tape Measure - Cheap Flaw

Honestly would have given this tape 5+ stars but noticed today that the plastic trim piece that secures the belt clip to the measure body has cracked in three places and broken away in one. Seems just a short matter of time before the entire thing crumbles away and the clip becomes loose and/or unusable. Hard ever used the clip in-fact. The tape has just sat in my main toolbox (in its own dedicated space) for the couple months I've owned. Never sat outside, in weather or otherwise, never dropped (amazingly) or otherwise seen *real* construction use to-date. The piece that is broken is, upon closer inspection a much lighter-weight cheaper/brittle piece of plastic than the rest of the body, but even still makes me wonder how long the tape itself will last compared to my old Stanleys of decades+.

Pretty small failure for such a big disappointment in quality.

LOUDEST tape measure ever!

This tape has some kind of textured coating, and is SO LOUD.

You get a whole ASMR auditory experience to go with your usage...haha. Personally, I found it intrusive and jarring.

Also -- casing feels CHEAP. Plastic is smooth, shiny, and cheap feeling. Black areas that I thought were rubber were super thin and barely discernible whether they were just more colored plastic or rubber.

I compared this tape to the MW S.T.U.D.

Ergonomics on the red one were better...the Metabo is more squared and boxy.

I did like the Metabo tape itself: good markings and visibility, and I do like the way the textured coating felt to the touch. But if not for the SOUND! Sheesh!

Good ergos, needs some improvements before I can recommend buying.

I love my Metabo HPT tools. However, I've gone through two of these tape measures since they were released back in May 2024. The tape itself keeps splitting at the same spot in. Unfortunately, there is no reinforcement on the first 8-10 inches like most of the other name brand tape measures on the market. I love everything else about this tape though. It has measurements on the top and bottom of the tape, the first 12 inches or so has the markings labeled in a very interesting way by labeling the odd 1/8 marks making it easier to read for people not familiar with how to divide up the markings, and it I love the brightness of the actual tape material. The casing is really nice and I love the rubber overmolding covering most of the tape. and the stand out is pretty dang good as well. It is a real shame that the tape keeps tearing on me though. Hopefully Metabo HPT adds that reinforcement to the first bit of the tape.

Buena calidad

Puedo decir que está al nivel de Dewalt, Stanley, Milwaukee.

Very good quality and I like the bottom…

Quality

Build nicely and doesn’t seem flimsy. I also like the bottom of the tape to put your finger on top of it to stop it instead of the top slider.
