Great radios but not correctly programmed to right frequency.

These are quite nice walkie-talkies, much better than your typical toys. They are rated to MIL-STD-810, which is primarily resistance to shocks (falls). It is also "weather-resistant", meaning it is probably ok in rain but I would not submerge them in water. They don't have an LCD screen so this also means they are more rugged. The battery life on these is excellent, especially the standby time of 1 week. Battery capacity is listed as 1000 mAh, which is not particularly high so the long standby time has to be do to very efficient power usage of the radios themselves. These radios transmit at 2 Watts. Legally, FRS designated radios are allowed to transmit at 2w on channels 1-7 and 15-22 while are limited to 0.5w on channels 8-14 (previously 1-14 were all limited to 0.5w).

The frequency programming of these radios is questionable. The manufacturer says they transmit 400-470 MHz, but they are sold as FRS radios (462-467 MHz). When I set these to any channel they did not match the correct FRS frequencies assigned to that channel (neither in transmitting or receiving). Because there is no LCD screen, it requires CHIRP programming to check what frequency is actually assigned to each channel.

Impressive range and battery life

I received this 2-pack of Mohanton walkie talkies and was genuinely impressed by how capable they were. The advertised 35-mile range performed well in open areas, and the MIL-STD-810 certification gave me confidence in their durability. The one-week battery life claim held up noticeably well in everyday use, meaning I didn't need to constantly worry about recharging between outings. The handheld radios were comfortable to grip and the controls were straightforward to navigate. The blue color was a nice, clean look. I used these during an outdoor event and communication was consistently clear. For camping trips, emergency preparedness, or event coordination, these delivered excellent performance.

Outstanding radios. Exceeded my expectations

Whenever I buy radios I make sure that even FRS radios, which are essentially UHF, will work with other radios that I have on the property. Now it took a minute because I wasn't able to find that the standard channels fit of the 22 available but there is a short list of 16 channels which was sent directly from the manufacturer. So the channel one that they sent me works perfectly with the other radios using an analog signal for the most part. These radios are compact, solidly built, and have a pretty good range. Compared to some of the other radios that I have they are probably a 5 out of 10, but, I bought them to be a 5 out of 10. These are the types of radios I give for crowd control, and other types of events. They're good for short range, and on a flat terrain they should exceed about a mile maybe even 2 miles depending on how flat the terrain is. If I need additional distance I just use more expensive radios. That being said, I reached out to the manufacturer and within a few hours they had sent me a complete channel list so that I could program them along with directions on how to program them without having to plug them in to the computer and buy the cord. That was helpful because there is a workaround. So rather than a range I needed a very specific channel, which is not as common, but it does add a layer of security. They're well worth the money, and I would recommend these radios for just the type of event that I mentioned in this review. If you ever need to reach out to the manufacturer they are extremely responsive. I really appreciated the customer service, and I really appreciate the good value on the radios. At the end of the day you're looking for durability and reliability in these radios have both in addition to their compact style.

Nice little FRS radios!

These are great little FRS radios. The build quality is really nice and the speaker when turned up, is nice and loud with very good transmit and receive quality. There is an audible voice that tells you what channel you are on, and hold down the button at the very bottom, on the side, to find out how much battery is remaining.

My one gripe is that the batteries took a minute or two to figure out how to slide on. To do so, just align the bump on the back of the battery with the groove on the back side of the radio and push up, to click into place. I also wish for the money they had some sort of visual display to show you what channel you're on.

Apparently, according to the manual, you can program certain features to work with these radios such as a scrambler, with a programming software they have, which I dont think is technically permitted with FRS (I haven't tried). I cannot figure out if these have privacy channels, as many FRS radios do.

In all I do like these, they are great to take to an amusement park, the mall, on a roadtrip, or just to have fun with. They come with beltclips, lanyards, usb-c cables and charging bricks. I recommend!
