Enjoy the drummer, snare sensor wire defect

Hello, we purchased this as a Christmas present and my son has been playing daily until May when the snare stopped working. I I am experiencing in electronics and hardware and complete completed basic troubleshooting.. the sensor wire disconnected from the metal contact base of the snare. This should be a warranty Ebel issue. I really just like a replacement snare and everything would work great. My son really enjoys a drum set and I would rate it a five out of five if it wasn’t for the sensor issue. Please feel free to reach out to me and I would be willing to change my rating after the warranty is complete.

Why This Beginner Drum Set Holds You Back

I’m sending this kit back today, and here’s my honest feedback.

I’m fairly musical. I’ve played snare before and have decent rhythm, so this isn’t a “first time touching sticks” perspective. This is not a drum set you grow into. It’s a drum set you grow out of quickly.

First issue: build quality and engineering.

Putting it together felt cheap. There are several spots where the design just feels off. The positioning behind the top toms is awkward, and some components only stay in place if you crank them down way harder than you should need to. Cymbals shifting, mounts feeling flimsy, and overall it doesn’t feel well thought out.

Second issue: the bass pedal (this is the big one).

The kick pedal uses a switch-style relay instead of a real beater arm. It’s extremely hypersensitive. There were multiple times where I barely moved my foot and the kick triggered anyway. That makes it nearly impossible to work on clean technique, timing, or control. If your goal is to actually learn how to drum and develop good habits, this works against you.

If you’re trying to become even a decent, average drummer, this kind of pedal will frustrate you fast. You need a real pedal with an arm that physically strikes a pad. Period.

Third issue: the headphones.

The included headphones are way too short. The cable runs directly in front of you while playing, which is awkward and distracting. I would have gladly paid an extra $10 for a longer cable. I ended up swapping them out immediately.

Bottom line:

Yes, this is a beginner kit. But there’s a difference between a beginner kit that helps you get comfortable and one that actively limits you. This is the latter.

Cheap instruments have a way of killing motivation. Cheap guitars make people want to quit. This drum kit does the same thing.

That said, it did serve one purpose. It showed me that I enjoy drumming and that I want to take it seriously. Because of that, I’m upgrading to the Alesis Nitro kit. It’ll cost me a few hundred more, but if I’m going to put time into learning, the tools need to be serious too.

If you’re truly trying to learn drums and you have the budget, I’d strongly recommend skipping this kit and buying something a step up. You’ll save money in the long run and enjoy playing a lot more.

Good quality and sounds great, easy setup

Took about 40 min to setup easy setup boxes were all labeled. Key to tighten comes with, sounds are all great! Mesh heads are pretty responsive not like a true set but close enough for the money. Great kit for anyone honestly.

Very lose joints poor quality

Just so poorly designed at the joints. It absolutely will not tighten in several spots causing each to fall within minutes of playing. The sound is great but its beyond agitating to play. So disappointed.

Came with faulty DC adapter

The dc output cord connection is faulty. Our set won’t turn on unless we pull the cord to one side and hold it that way. Please advise

Great starter set!

This drum set is awesome. Works well out of the box, easy to learn on. Great sounds and functions. Well built. Bought for my 13 year old son, but the whole family loves it. Great size and easily moveable!

Good value for price. Especially compared to others

The drums are nice overall. The pieces do move easier than I’d like. Because they move when you hit them. There are directions included for what all the buttons do but it is confusing. I like the size and durability for the price. I bought them for my 2yo and the drumstick tip broke within the first week. Otherwise they e held up well.

Worth it!

This was a gift for my daughter's 10th birthday. This was very easy to assemble and she caught on very quickly on how to use it. It comes with a book that explains the different functions as well. It easily folds up to be stored and put away when not being used. It records and does so many things! Sounds great too!She's very happy and that makes me happy!

The kick pad seems to be defective

I bought this for my son and assembled it with much effort, but the kick pad doesn’t make any sound. My son was very disappointed, but I think I need to return it.

Perfect for our 7 year old

Our son loves to play the drums just like dad. This was the perfect gift for him. You can't hear the drums without the headphones which is a plus! 😉

Easy to set up and great sound

We got this for our son who’s 11, it was really easy to set up and he loves it! He can’t wait to get to high school and be in the drum line. So this will have to do for now!

Snare came damaged
