Small and very quite

Pretty quite as far as jaw harp are concerned smaller than I thought and hard to hold without touching the reed. For a woman it might work better I dont know but for my hands its too small to hold hurts to hold cause its so small and its very quite

This is the ONE!! Let’s go!!!

I am beyond impressed with the quality of this jaw harp!! It’s made very well! It’s small and can go in your pocket ANYWHERE! Sound quality is very good! Love it when breathing 😁in and out fast! Easy to use, plays great and it’s super fun! This jaw harp is great for beginners and novice too! Thank you! If everyone in the world learned to play the jaw harp it would be……🫶🏼

Good quality, fun, and great for beginners!

I should note that I’m a total beginner and have only been messing with this thing for about 4 days, so please excuse my playing, but when I was initially considering buying this harp, I was him-hawing because there weren’t many videos showing what it sounds like. I don’t play too well yet, but I hope this at least helps demonstrate its range of sound a bit. From a novice’s perspective, this jaw harp feels easy to learn on and, as someone who’s wanted to learn for a long time but didn’t want to take the plunge on some of the more expensive harps I usually see, it was a pretty inexpensive and low-risk way to get into it. It has a solid build and to my eye seems to be good quality for a beginner harp: the reed (the piece you pluck) is cut and placed with precision so it never grazes the metal as it moves. The wooden case it comes with is also nice—definitely good for someone like me who is prone to losing things. The harp is pretty small, so I know I’d have lost it within days if it weren’t for the case that makes it much easier to keep track of. It’s an extremely fun instrument and feels relatively easy to learn so far. That being said, PLEASE look up trustworthy tutorials on how to play it because you can very easily damage or chip your teeth if you hold or strum it incorrectly.

Nice little Jews harp .. recommend for beginners and intermediate players !

Not a bad little harp for the price .. between $19 and $22 usually .. don’t waste your time with those cheap bluegrass Jaw harps, or snoopy’s harp .. those are just toys compared to this one for the price ..can’t get good sound out of them, but you won’t be disappointed with this one. Great value and fun to play. 👍🏻👍🏻

Really great noise The case really makes it nice because with the case it’s easy to carry around. the other mouth harp I had was a very low quality. when I upgraded to this one there were two things that were really nice about it number one. It was really easy to use, number two The sound coming out of It was perfect.

This is the ultimate autism toy

I don't why the tutorials on this product explain how to use it the wrong way 🤦

For the love of God, DON'T put the thing on your TEETH 🤌

This is a lip instrument that you make mouth noises from

It's small, sturdy, can be pulled out when people least expect it

Smack down that bayou beat with this sweet thing, go crazy with that mouth harp trance music

It takes MINUTES to learn by just goofing around with it and not listening to the tutorial by that guy with the beard who tells you to hold it wrong and put it on your teeth 🤦

Do they not screen these guys first?

Ultimate gift for children and adults with any shred of humor or spirit in them

Would not recommend for lame people and squares, they wouldn't get it

Worth the money

I got my first jaw harp when I was young from Cracker Barrel. I never knew how to make sound out of it. Over the years it got lost and I recently took interest when I saw one played. this one was a little more than I wanted to spend but I have found that it’s a great value and having the case will help me not to lose it. And the craftmanship is nice. I figured out in minutes by watching a short tutorial and before long I could do more than I thought was possible.

It’s small, but the tone is awesome.

Seems sturdy, box is nice and well crafted but box is just that and does not say about the instrument quality and playability. Harp is not loud at all and not easy to play. Regret not putting more money on a pro model.

Cheap packaging

I cannot imagine in modern times how anyone could send a musical instrument that people are supposed to put into mouth without wrapping the instrument in plastic. How many people tried it before me? Really broken first impression.

Fun while it lasted.

Was fun while it lasted for me but is easily breakable. This device is just for casual playing only. Cannot sustain strong flicks of of an average man so I would suggest giving this instrument to children only. It's also quite small and doesn't fit in larger hands very well.

Fun sound, fun to play.

Well, I tried to learn, but I'm not very good at this! LOL That's okay, because I didn't spend too much to play around with it for a couple of months. It's a really cute little instrument, though, and I love the carving on the case. It's really beautiful. I can make some interesting sounds with it, and it is fun. Makes me feel like I should go camping and play this around the campfire! I will keep practicing. There are several musicians in my family, so I will probably take this to the next family gathering and surprise everybody! This would also be a great gift for any musician, as it's a great little instrument to carry in your pocket or bag.

I hope my experience with this product might help YOU make a more informed purchase. Happy shopping!

Boing boing boing!

Very easy to figure out. The case is a nice touch. Makes it seem like an old aboriginal instrument or something. Neat trinket and annoying sound maker. Fun!

Deep, rich sound, lovely case

I ordered two different harps as a total beginner, and here are the results. Compared to the MUARO SKIFF Jew’s harp -Russian Vargan by Glazyrin, the sound is a little bit lower. Much smaller in size, the reed has more give, Making it both easier to play, but also easier to strike your teeth. The sound is rich and clear—see video for sample.

Basic, Entry-Level Harp

Sometimes described as souvenir harps, the Potkin harps are actually significantly better than the models usually found in US music stores. Nonetheless, they ARE entry-level, meaning they typically have larger and less consistent gaps, more rough and ready construction, are less consistent from sample to sample, and are both quieter and less sensitive than better makes.

Larger gaps make for a softer sound, but are also more forgiving of stroking technique. I.e., fewer clanks and clicks on the decks ... or teeth. Less sensitivity can mean less range and less capability ... but better repeatability with inexpert technique. So entry-level characteristics have negatives and positives. It depends on what you're looking for and what you need. They are also substantially less expensive, so trying out the harp needn't be pricey.

A bonus with this harp is the wood "case" (block really), which serves to protect the harp, particularly the trigger, and carry the harp without banging it up. You can tuck it into a pack without concern about mangling it.

Unlike the true mass market junk usually encountered, you can actually learn and play on a Potkin harp.

Highly Recommended at its price level.

[edit: After playing this for a couple of days AND receiving another Potkin sample in the interim, I've decided to up this rating to 4 stars. Everything written above still applies, but strictly evaluating these as entry-level in their low price range AND given the consistency from sample to sample (virtually identical), 4 stars seems more appropriate. They are a good value for someone who wants to see what a harp can do without spending much.]
