The product itself may be fine, but the advertising is extremely misleading. The photos on the box, product listing, and social media all give the impression that you’re purchasing a complete teleprompter setup, including the stand/tripod. You are not. The box only includes the teleprompter portion.
I purchased this expecting to open the box and immediately be able to use it, only to discover that I now need to purchase a separate stand before I can even get started. For a product at this price point, that should have been made much clearer.
My biggest issue isn’t necessarily that the tripod is sold separately. It’s that the marketing does not make that obvious. If an essential component shown repeatedly in the promotional images is not included, that should be stated prominently and clearly before purchase.

Works GREAT - easy set up. Neewer products have never disappointed and are such a good price point. The main important factor of a teleprompter is clean glass and this was great. See sample screen grab.

UPDATE:
Remote stopped functioning all of the sudden from the 2nd use!
Batteries are brand new, but it’s not running at all!
Previous review:
It was already assembled out of the box so no need to bother yourself and wasting time.
The material is not cheap at all, and the product quality is amazing.
I haven’t tried it on my camera YET, but I’m sure a company like Neewer knows how to make things work great.
The only downside is the weight! Not that my tripod won’t hold it, because I have a heavy duty tripod from Neewer that can hold a lot! But if want to move the setup from a place to another, the weight is a minor problem.
As a design, it looks professional, fits my 13” iPad perfectly, that means it’s compatible with the majority of my devices, and the remote is super responsive, minimal design which makes it very easy to control, and despite that it’s plastic, it’s not a cheap plastic!
Thank you Neewer again and again and again and again

The teleprompter itself is sturdy, clear, and well-built, but the remote control stopped working after light use. Buyers should be aware and consider having a backup option.
Review
The build quality of this teleprompter is quite good. The aluminum frame feels stable, and overall the setup looks professional. The glass is clear, and the text is easy to read. However, the head of the teleprompter is noticeably heavy. When using a tablet, the front weight sometimes makes the entire unit feel like it could tip forward. The legs can handle it, but you definitely notice the imbalance.
Assembly is simple, and the product works well for recording lessons, reels, and tutorials. For creators who need a clean workflow, it’s a helpful tool.
I filmed 10 lessons for my course using this teleprompter, and everything went smoothly until the remote control suddenly stopped responding. The issue wasn’t the battery; we replaced it several times. The remote powers on and shows a blue indicator light, but the internal chip seems to have failed because it no longer communicates with the device at all.
This was incredibly disappointing, especially because the teleprompter itself works well. Having the remote fail so early completely interrupted my workflow and forced me to pause filming reels and other content. For the price, I expected more reliability or at least a second backup remote included in the kit.
If you plan to use this teleprompter for consistent recording, be prepared that the remote may not be dependable. The device is good quality, but the remote control is the weak point.
Let's Be Honest! REVIEWS
Let me start by saying this:
I NEVER thought I’d buy a real teleprompter.
Like… what am I, a professional??
I truly believed teleprompters were these huge, bulky, complicated beasts that would make my already chaotic studio life EVEN harder.
But then the NEEWER X12B showed up and basically said, “Relax, I’m here to make your life easier.”
And it DID.
This thing is the perfect size — not too big, not too small, doesn’t overcrowd your setup, doesn’t fight your lights or cables. I have cords, tripods, mics, mixers, softboxes, gadgets — EVERYTHING — and this teleprompter fits right into my chaos like it was born there.
And yes, it’s 13 inches tall, made from aluminum alloy, and somehow still manages to feel sturdy AND lightweight even though it weighs 5.81 pounds.
Like… how you sturdy AND portable at the same time?? Pick a struggle!
The soft-shell case it comes in? A whole mood. Structured, protective, and actually practical — which matters because I travel constantly and build makeshift podcast studios everywhere I go. I’m always packing lights, cords, mics, mixers… the whole mobile circus. The portability on this is chef’s kiss.
But when I’m staying in one place?
Oh, it lives right on the tripod like it pays rent.
When it’s time to film, I literally just unfold it, slide my iPad in, attach my phone or camera, grab the remote and—
lights, TELEPROMPTER, action.
Now let’s talk functionality because BABYYY…
it’s giving Broadcast Studio Energy.
✓ Wide compatibility: smartphones + tablets up to 9.84” × 8.68” (25cm × 22cm)
✓ Multiple 1/4” & 3/8” tripod thread holes for perfect balancing
✓ Adjustable width (18–22cm) & height (7cm) to keep any lens perfectly centered
✓ Zero-reflection glass that stays crisp even under bright lights
✓ Remote control that works smoothly from 10 feet away
✓ Ranked #2 in Teleprompters — and yeah, it deserves it
And listen…
The day I hit record, looked into the glass, and saw my script perfectly reflected like a little shining gift from the content-creation gods??
I instantly became a better speaker.
The beam-splitter glass is SO clean it’s like reading subtitles on a window that just got Windexed by an Olympic champion.
I’m talking CRISP crisp.
My delivery went from
“uhhh wait where was I?”
to
“Good evening viewers, let’s begin.”
I used to think a “real” teleprompter would make everything harder — bigger, bulkier, too much setup.
Nope.
It made my entire workflow SO much easier.
Way easier than using those phone scrolling apps where my phone is too far away to control anything.
This teleprompter didn’t just upgrade my setup —
it upgraded ME.
Five stars.
Zero hesitation.
A teleprompter I didn’t think I needed… but now I refuse to film without it!

Impressively quality, smartly designed budget teleprompter
Includes travel case, Teleprompter, cleaning cloth, Bluetooth remote, instructions to assemble the prompter and to use the remote. Link to their own teleprompter software.
The case is light but sturdy foam-padded with double locks and a handle. The case is aluminum reinforced around the edges. While not a true professional hard case, it's certainly good enough to transport the teleprompter safely.
The assembly is amazingly easy. It's completely built and just folds out. The sides zip up to prevent light leaks. There's a soft fabric hood with a pull tightener to prevent light from leaking into the lens. This simple folding assembly allows quick build and breakdown. Much faster than other budget teleprompters I've used.
The adjustment knobs are high-quality metal, allowing for great flexibility to move the camera in or out, higher adjust the angle of the glass to your tablet or phone. All with a complete and very solid locking mechanism. The tray slides out to hold the tablet or phone. Its arms are wide enough to keep your tablet stable, and the front pad is equally wide. There is a little light loss through the glass, but it can easily be compensated for without interfering with picture quality. I tested this with my iPad Air 11" and my Sony FX3 with a 28-75mm lens. I had no problem positioning to avoid vignetting and could probably have done so with a wider lens.
The Bluetooth remote is well-designed and easy to hold. The plastic seems to be of much higher quality than that I've seen in other budget prompters. The app isn't the most advanced, but it includes all the basic functions, including font size control, locator on and off, and background color. They include several ways to import text. While there are more advanced apps, this is certainly serviceable.
This is a well-designed budget teleprompter whose build quality and fast setup make this a nice addition to remote shoots. Of course, it works well in your studio for talent who need the security of a teleprompter for speaking. Highly recommended for quality, ease of use, and value.

The NEEWER X12B Teleprompter has seriously upgraded my content workflow. It’s super easy to set up—no tools or assembly required, just unfold and start. The liftable aluminum frame feels sturdy and professional, and the 12" glass is crisp and very readable, even under bright lights.
It works flawlessly with my DSLR and my iPad, and the included remote + app make it easy to control the script flow. I’ve used it for online lessons, Instagram videos, and live streams—and it delivers every time.
I'll be showing how I integrate this into my content setup over on Instagram @eriktaveras, so check it out if you want to see it in action.
If you're a content creator, teacher, or live streamer—this is a must-have.

This is a fantastic upgrade to my older neewer X12. I love the quick release functionality; it's very compatible with my F38 system, which I'm already using on all my cameras and tripods. For the money, it doesn't get any better than Neewer Teleprompters. This is so easy to set up and deploy. It's the perfect size for quick, small corporate video setups. It's so easy to dial in and adjust. It's the best value teleprompter on the market.

I won 2 other teleprompters and both are the older style for camera mounting (Look at Neewer's X12B). This is the X12II model with the higher end camera mount using a quick release plate. The quick release also works with plates from Falcam (F38), PGYTECH and Freewell.
There are so many Pros:
The bottom has three 3/8 and three 1/4 inch mounts. On my larger fluid head's plate, I was able to screw in a 3/8 and line up the retaining pin with a 1/4 hole.
The zippers feel quality and zip smoothly without catching. I like zippers better than hook & latch.
Both sides have cold shoe and 1/4 20 mounts for accessories.
The tablet tray and camera mount slides have removal security pins that keep the parts from sliding out and falling.
The glass let's in up to 71% of light so it will work with ASPC cameras that don't let in as much light as full frame.
I like the Neewer remote much better than the joystick style ones from other brands. I actually had bought one to use with my old teleprompter from another brand. I enjoy using the Neewer app.
The camera mount is where it shines though. like the rest of the hardware, it is all metal with metal knobs and gearing. Just loosen the knobs, get the camera in place and tighten up.
I will be donating my old teleprompter to a STEM program near me for their videos, and using this one for shoots.
Cons:
The case's walls are very thin plastic. Be very carful when transporting this to locations.
The camera mount's head was tightened at an off angle. I had to lubricate the hex screw, loosen it, line it up and then tighten it down myself. It would tighten fully without shifting slightly out of place, so I left it a little loose to give me some adjustment play.
The cold shoe on the right side has the glass tightening knob in the way if you want to clip a wireless lav receiver to it. I just used the 1/4 20 hole there instead.

I like the size and quality of this teleprompter.

The important caveat to my review is that I've never used a teleprompter before. I've been slightly intimidated by the idea of setting up the gear and then coordinating the essential software.
The good news is that this Neewer teleprompter--and the app you need to upload to your iPad to use it--are both fairly easy to set up and use.
That said, the instruction manual included is a little sparse on important details for "Neewbies" like myself. Fortunately, a quick trip to YouTube University--and a few lucky guesses--and I was able to get everything set up and working.
For example, you have to find just the right angle to tip the front glass in order to read it when the type scrolls by on the screen.
The bluetooth remote is fairly easy to set up, but it feels counterintuitive that in order to slow down the scroll of the text, you need to click the up arrow button on the remote. (I wanted to click the down arrow--you know, to slow it down. But that actually sped it up!)
I've read reviews from more experienced teleprompter users saying the briefcase it comes in is not very robust. I'm just glad it HAS a case. I'll try to baby it to make it last longer.
I also had to do some trial and error to figure out how to properly project the text on the screen. (There's an icon in the app that you have to press to make the type reverse on the iPad--and therefore, be legible and right facing on the teleprompter screen.)
I like that you can pause the scroll of the text while reading...in case you start to fall behind and need to catch up with your reading. Although I've heard there are now apps that LISTEN to your voice and advance the scroll at the actual speed you're reading. (That would be nice.)
I also need to figure out where to attach a monitor so I can properly frame myself while reading. (I'm guessing there must be an easy way to do that.)
Bottom line, I'm glad I finally got up the courage to work with this teleprompter. I think Neewer has made a good entry level device that should serve my needs just fine.

The instructions were really limited and unhelpful for fine tuning. I can see the reflection of my camera. I have a Sony SV-1F. Maybe it is just not compatible? It is so difficult to fenangle it into a position so that the teleprompter "tent" sort of thing or the ipad isn't in the frame. Also when I do achieve that, I can see the reflection of the camera showing up on the video.
Casual Gearhead
Another fine example of Neewer stepping up their game. The build quality here is really nice, it works great and is easy to adjust...and that screen has a lot of real estate that is easy to read even from a considerable distance (far more than I have available in my tiny studio). The one area of opportunity that was a bit of a disappointment to me is the hood itself. I am surprised that at this price point the hood is a relatively highly reflective and shiny polyester material when other things...like the mini matte box, are thoughtfully designed with matte velvety material that does a far better job at controlling ambient and scattered light.
That being said...in practice this works just great. I won't review the app here, as that does feel like it needs a stand alone review all its own, I will say the screen does a really great job reflecting most of the light making it super easy to read without having to put your tablet at the highest brightness like you have to do with others. The amount I had to turn up my lights was relatively small, and totally acceptable...I wasn't even using my studio lights at full strength anyways, and still don't...very important when you have a small space that heats up quick. Paired with my silent Neewer studio light...the whole setup is a dream to use for individual/independent content creators. I imagine that if you are full professional level, you are definitely going to want to step up from this...but for those of us who live and work in the social media realm...this is a no-brainer. Just get it, you'll be happy with it. I left off that one star only because I really want a better material for the hood, but more because it seems like such an odd thing to overlook at this price point.
Also: a nice and easy to see/use remote control, and comes with a hard case. And while the hard case is definitely on the cheaper end of build quality, it's also the only teleprompter in the budget range that I've tried that comes with a hard case at all...so that is very much appreciated. I tend to only use gear like this in my studio, so I only use the case for storage, and for that it's just fine.
Love it, and recommend it for light use content creators.

This was way better made than I had anticipated. I used with a Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra 4K webcam, (not a DSLR) and works great! Just incase anyone is wondering if will work with a non-traditional camera set up, it does. Now I had gotten the Neewer overhead desk live broadcast rig pole, it did not work with it. The parts were compatible, however the arm could NOT support the weight. No biggie, I had tripod and set it up on it. Like I said, it’s pretty heavy duty, just have something ready to support the weight. Worked out anyway, I used the arm for a fill light. I saw a lot of complaints about the app that comes with it, but I really liked it. I haven’t put my own scripts on it yet, but the remote pared easy and quick, and worked perfect to adjust the speed, and size of the text, as well as being about to pause and hop to sections forward and backwards manually with it. What more could I want with a teleprompter? I very much recommend!!

Very sturdy and easy to set. It comes with a nice case. The tray for the camera is adjustable, you can bring it to the front or back and it goes from 5 cm up to 7cm high. The tray for the iPad can be expanded up to 22cm. It has a remote control which will be so useful, other brands don't come with it. Overall is very straightforward nothing complicated.

The NEEWER Basics X12B is positioned in a mid-level and budget-friendly segment of teleprompters.
It is easy to setup. It comes in a carrying case that works well for storing the X12B because the X12B fits in easily after using it.
It is a metal construction and that makes it sturdy; it has adjustments for the tablet / phone size, and the camera position (horizontal and vertical). It is designed for full size cameras; however, I was also able to mount a smartphone via a basic smartphone holder and the camera got a clear view of the scene -- it will depend on the camera's lens and angle, but it can work.
This teleprompter is an excellent tool to either start with teleprompting or for smaller productions. I am in need for a teleprompter only from time to time, I am not using it on a daily basis -- for my current use scenarios the X12B is a good tool; I cannot speak for people who use it heavily on a daily basis or have certain setup requirements.
The app is simple and does its job -- I am using the app on an iPhone, and it works for me. The included remote control paired without problems with my phone and controlling the speed and text size works as expected.
The marketing description shows which tablet sizes and models are compatible for this teleprompter.
It is a good teleprompter in that price segment, and it gets the job done.
mcmc
It doesn't have some of the niceties that its big brother has, but it doesn't come near that price either. The deployment is so simple, and the support for the tablet doesn't leave me wondering about whether it will take a spill. A great option.
Visionz
The Neewer X12B is the perfect size teleprompter for full size cameras. I setup my Sony ZV-E1 rig build on this teleprompter and everything was just perfect. With a 20mm full frame lens, none of the inside of the teleprompter clipped the image. There is also height and distance adjustments to accommodate a bunch of camera sizes.
The reflective panel allows me to see my text in big bold letters without it showing up in video footage. I can adjust the speed of the scroll as well as the size of the text with the included remote. This teleprompter is very easy to use and extremely simple to setup. It comes with a carrying case for storage and travel.
This is an awesome teleprompter. No more looking at notes when doing talking head videos and having to cut those scenes later in post.
topherboy1981
NEEWER always seem to put out great quality gear for us videographers! This Temepromter is no different! Plenty large enough to fit a 12.9" iPad Pro and the app/remote makes customization of the text size and speed a breeze. Very easy to setup, comes in a nice traveling case and has multiple mounting 1/4" and 3/8" mounting holes to fit any stand! Check out my video to see the other cool aspects of this teleprompter!
And the price point is perfect! I highly recommend picking this up to step up your recording game!
CM Coleman
I will warn you this is heavy. So you need a really good tripod. Also there are no side baffles for the glass, which I found on super shiny floors cause a bit of glaring on the glass. It is easy to set up and it works well. I noticed as I was looking at the product pictures that the top and sides of the inclosure look to be made of some sort of leather, They are not. For an entry level items it is fine.
