TTL Makes This a Great Addition to Our Fujifilm Camera Kit

We've been working with photography and video equipment for more than 40 years, and one thing I've learned is that having a good external flash can make a tremendous difference in your photography.

We were particularly interested in this round-head speedlite because it's compatible with our Fujifilm camera and supports TTL flash metering.

If you're not familiar with TTL, it stands for Through The Lens, and it's a very useful feature to have in a camera flash.

Essentially, the camera measures the light coming through the lens and communicates with the flash to determine how much light is needed for the exposure. Rather than having to manually calculate and adjust flash power every time your subject or shooting conditions change, the camera and flash work together to make those adjustments automatically.

That can be especially helpful when photographing people, events, or situations where the distance between the camera and subject is constantly changing.

Of course, I still appreciate having manual flash control available. There are plenty of situations where I want to establish a particular lighting look and keep it consistent. Having both TTL and manual operation gives us that flexibility.

The overall build quality of this flash is very nice. It feels like a substantial piece of photographic equipment rather than something cheaply assembled.

I also like the round-head design. It's an appealing configuration for a portable flash, particularly when you're trying to work with a variety of lighting setups.

Another feature that attracted us was the 7.2V, 3000mAh rechargeable battery.

That's a generous battery capacity for a speedlite and gives us plenty of room between charges for the kind of photography we do. I much prefer a rechargeable battery system to constantly feeding disposable batteries into a flash.

The manufacturer advertises up to 600 full-power flashes per charge. We haven't independently verified that number, and actual battery life will naturally depend on how much flash power you're using.

There are also some useful additional capabilities, including high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second with a compatible camera, two modeling lamps, and the ability to switch between TTL and manual operation.

High-speed sync is particularly appealing for outdoor portraits, where you may want to use a wide aperture in bright daylight while still adding some fill flash.

I wouldn't expect every photographer to need all of those features, but it's nice having them available as your lighting needs become more demanding.

For us, the combination of Fujifilm TTL compatibility, solid construction, rechargeable battery capacity, and manual lighting control makes this a very attractive addition to our camera equipment.

We haven't put it through an extended series of shoots yet, so I can't make claims about long-term durability or maximum flash counts. But our initial impression of the construction and feature set is very positive.

A well-equipped speedlite that offers a lot of flexibility for Fujifilm photographers. The value is certainly there. We're pleased with it, and it's an easy five stars based on our experience so far.

The best 100w speedlite on the market

The Neewer Z3R is my favorite speedlite of all. I have about 20 different speedlites from various brands and this does everything i need and more. The versatility that i get with this light at 100w makes it much more practical and useful than even my full size strobes.

The large clear and bright touchscreen makes the user experience very easy. The menus are easy to navigate and the plentiful control options are easy to manipulate as well. The main thing i love about its connectivity is the ability to use this with any Neewer trigger as well as the Godox brand of triggers. This means that i can use this off camera for more dynamic lighting setups and with other brands of cameras that Neewer does not yet make triggers for.

It has an amazing battery life for the power it produces. When compared to one of my other commonly used brand of 100w strobes, the Neewer Z3R is a much better value. It works perfectly as an on camera flash with my Fujifilm cameras and i can actually make adjustments to the flash directly from my Fujifilm XH2.

Powerful Round-Head Flash for Fujifilm with TTL and HSS

Powerful Round-Head Flash for Fujifilm with TTL and HSS

★★★★★

The NEEWER Z3R-F is a really nice option for Fujifilm photographers looking for a more capable speedlite without jumping straight into a full studio flash setup. The 100Ws output gives it plenty of power for portraits, events, product photography, and other situations where the built-in camera flash just isn't enough. value of money

The round-head design is a nice feature because it gives the flash a more natural-looking spread of light. It also works well with modifiers and bounce techniques when you're trying to create softer, more flattering lighting instead of the harsh look you can get from direct flash.

I especially like the TTL and manual options. TTL makes it easier to get a usable exposure quickly when you're moving between different lighting situations, while manual mode gives you much more control when you're setting up a consistent studio or product shoot.

The 1/8000-second HSS capability is another major plus. High-speed sync is extremely useful when shooting portraits outdoors because it allows you to use faster shutter speeds while still incorporating flash. That gives you more flexibility with wider apertures and bright ambient conditions.

The 2.4G wireless capability adds even more versatility for off-camera lighting setups. Being able to position the flash away from the camera can make a huge difference in the quality and direction of the light, especially for portraits or creative photography.

The touchscreen is also a nice modern touch. Having controls and settings presented on a touchscreen can make adjusting the flash easier than digging through a complicated button menu. The two modeling lights are useful for previewing how the light is positioned before taking the shot.

The 3000mAh battery and advertised capacity of up to 500 full-power flashes should also be helpful for longer shooting sessions. Actual battery life will depend on power level, recycle time, HSS use, modeling lights, and other settings, but having a rechargeable high-capacity battery is definitely convenient.

Before purchasing, I would verify that your specific Fujifilm camera model supports all of the advertised TTL, HSS, and wireless functions. Overall, though, this looks like a feature-packed flash with strong output, flexible controls, HSS, wireless capability, modeling lights, and a rechargeable battery. It's a versatile lighting upgrade for Fujifilm photographers.

Provides a powerful 100Ws with easy, intuitive control

Excellent round-head flash compatible with Fujifilm. This NEEWER Z3R flash surprised me because it offers excellent performance in my portrait sessions. Its round head produces a soft, enveloping light with a natural falloff that has noticeably improved the quality of my photographs. It has a powerful 100Ws output, allowing me to work with a medium or large modifier and capture high-quality portraits. It features HSS at 1/8000s, which allows me to shoot at wide apertures in direct sunlight without losing exposure control. It has TTL and is very precise, with a toggle switch that allows me to change from TTL to manual, streamlining my workflow by quickly switching between automatic and manual modes. What I loved most is its touchscreen; it provides excellent clarity and is easy to navigate, making setup a breeze. It also includes two modeling lights that allow me to visualize the light's impact before shooting. Its 3000mAh battery has excellent performance; I was surprised because I was able to get more than 460 flashes at full power, with a very short recycle time. I recommend it for its great power, excellent light quality, and modern interface.

Very Nice Flash, Easy to Adjust

This is a very nice and well-made camera flash. It feels solid and like a good quality piece of camera gear, not something cheap. I also like the round flash head, and the included diffuser is easy to put on and take off. One of my favorite features is the touchscreen display. It makes it really easy to go through the settings and change the parameters without having to fight with a bunch of buttons and menus. Everything is laid out well and pretty straightforward to use. So far it has worked very well and I've been really happy with the results. It also comes with a nice protective carrying case, which is always appreciated with camera equipment. Overall, this has been a great addition to my camera gear and I would highly recommend it.

This flash delivers for Fuji

Very impressive flash for Fuji. Here’s the things that are always a highlight for me. Starting with the battery, you can charge the battery the old fashion way with a charger but that’s not the impressing thing. It has a usb-c port directly into the battery where you can charge the battery on the go with no other chargers needed. You can also charge the entire flash with the battery in it by plugging up the flash itself. I need convenience and portability when shooting in the field and this delivers. Another thing that impressed me was the TTL and high speed sync. The amount of flashes that keep up with your shooting in high speed is remarkable and therefore you’ll have less photos with the flash being missed because this flash can keep up. This comes with the flash foot so you can shoot on camera on it camera and this us important to me during weddings or event shoots because I can place my flash on a light stand and control from where ever I need to stand. The flash comes with its own protection case that feels substantial and a nice way to protect your gear. When it comes to performance and the flash output, this is a winner. You can increase the flash power with just a one touch push of the button and that saves times when adjusting for different light conditions. Last but never least, the round head with the magnetic diffuser dome is an improved concept over the square head. It improves directional light and encompasses the the same concept as the umbrella shape. I would highly recommend this flag and the price point is a great value.

awesome kit wiht all you need

I have been using this flash for portraits and event work, and it has quickly become a piece I reach for without thinking. It fires consistently, keeps up with rapid shooting, and the light it produces is clean and flattering on skin. I can adjust it quickly without fumbling through menus, and the battery easily lasts through a long session. It feels solid and has handled being packed and carried around without any issues. I am getting results I am genuinely happy with and would recommend it to anyone who wants dependable lighting. Five stars.

Powerful on camera flash.

What a powerful on camera flash. This Z2 pro is way powerful than my previous godox brand on camera flash. It's pretty easy to use and set up as long as you read the directions. It's compatible with my other Neewer flashes. However I struggled to control the others with this as the main trigger. But it does work well with my Neewer Q trigger. It mounts to the camera but you need an asssesory to mount it to a stand. Battery life is good and it's rechargeable via USBC.

Powerful, Reliable, and Great Value

I've been using the NEEWER Z3-R for portraits, events, and creative photography, and it has been a solid addition to my lighting kit. It's compatible with my Canon cameras and fits into the Canon ecosystem nicely.

The design feels modern and well-built without being overly bulky. It sits comfortably on camera and is easy to carry for longer shooting sessions. The controls are straightforward, making it easy to adjust settings while shooting.

What impressed me most is the power output. At 100Ws, the Z3-R delivers plenty of light for both indoor and outdoor photography. The rechargeable battery also provides excellent runtime, allowing me to shoot confidently without constantly worrying about battery changes.

The recycle times are quick, and the flash performance has been consistent throughout my use. Whether I'm shooting portraits, graduation sessions, or events, it has delivered reliable results.

Considering the features, performance, and included rechargeable battery system, the Z3-R offers excellent value for the price. It has become one of my favorite speedlights and an easy recommendation for photographers looking for a powerful and dependable flash without spending a fortune.

A Worthy Upgrade To My Z880

Ordered this as an upgrade to my Neewer Z880-C, which has been one of my favorite Neewer flashes for a while now. Couldn't pair it directly to the Z880 for some reason, but it synced perfectly with my Godox triggers including the XR, XPro II and the X3 Pro, which got me up and running with the rest of my lighting system. That was honestly a pleasant surprise, because the 880 never wanted to play with my Godox gear at all, and having cross-brand compatibility on a flash at this price point opens up a lot of options. I'm VERY happy to see Neewer embracing brand inter-compatibility. If you happen to own the Neewer QPro or QZ trigger you'll have an even easier time, but I was thrilled to find it working with my existing gear. The flash itself puts out a clean 100Ws with HSS up to 1/8000, and the round head throws a smooth even spread that's noticeably softer than the rectangular fresnel on my older units, especially with the magnetic dome diffuser snapped on. The diffuser mount is strong enough that I can mount it on a camera hanging on a strap around my neck and swing it around a bit without it popping loose, which is more than I can say for some of the friction-fit diffusers I've used.

A couple of practical notes worth knowing. The Z3R uses a higher-capacity version of the same NP-Z1 battery as the Z880, so if you're already in the Neewer ecosystem your spares will drop right in. The new battery also has a USB-C port built directly into it, which means you can pop it out and charge it without pulling out the charging dock or blocking up the flash. Small thing, big quality-of-life win when you're packing for a shoot at six in the morning and realize you forgot to charge overnight. The color touchscreen is responsive and laid out well enough that I stopped reaching for the manual after about ten minutes, and the recycle time keeps up with the burst rate on my R5 without any noticeable lag at lower power settings. The dual modeling lamps are a nice addition for previewing how the light will fall before you fire the flash, and having ten brightness levels to dial through means you can actually use them as a continuous light source in a pinch for video or quick product shots.

For a flash that comes in well under three hundred bucks with this much functionality and cross-system compatibility, it's hard to find anything to complain about. Pairs beautifully with the R5 and earned its spot in my bag on the first outing.
