Great Sound, Long Battery Life, and Excellent Value

I'm very happy with the Nothing Ear (3a) earbuds. The sound quality is great, and the battery life lasts a long time, so I don't have to worry about charging them frequently. The noise cancellation is a nice bonus, and the dual connection feature is especially handy when switching between devices.

Overall, these are excellent earbuds for the price. Great sound, good battery life, and useful features make them a great value. Definitely a good buy!

A good value

Better than my $300 ear bud NGL. I need to buy some for my wife now. Sounds very clear with and without ANC. Transparency mode plus the comfort for the buds make you forget that they were I your ear or ears. For work i have to use one ear buds at a times. Music and podcast sound good and clear. Highly recommend for the price even when it's not on sale. I love this ear buds a lot the online reviews wouldn't lying.

Fantastic sound quality and fit

TL;DR: I love these headphones. The Nothing Ear (3a) offer excellent sound (the spatial audio is a gimmick), customization, and noise cancelling for a somewhat affordable price.

When my Beats Studio Buds went to the gutter, I started shopping for some new headphones. I was shopping in the $100 price range when I came across these. I think I made the best choice when I bought these! A lot of this review will be comparing the Beats ($170) to these Nothing Ear (3a) (only $100).

First off, the advertisement points. The sound is amazing. The stock tuning is a bit bass-heavy for my liking but that can be easily changed for a more balanced sound. The noise cancellation is fantastic! It delivers quiet without any static or whining noises (something I heard a lot of when I had my Beats). The call recording/audio clipping is not a feature that I use often. But if I am on a phone call and someone says something funny, it is a great feature to have! Next, spatial audio. "Spatial audio" on these earbuds is a joke. Here is how you can experience it before even buying the product: Get any old pair of headphones, go to YouTube and search up "8D Audio". What you'll find is a song with a lot of reverb added to sound like you are hearing things all around you. That is literally all the "spatial audio" on the Nothing Ear (3a) is. When you toggle it on it just sounds echoey and cheap. HOWEVER, the multi-connect feature is the HIGHLIGHT of these headphones for me. It does NOT play audio out of both devices at once. It is designed to automatically switch between two devices based on which one is playing audio. I have it multi-connected to my laptop and phone, so that I can work on my computer and hear everything, and then switch to my phone and listen to music without dealing with pairing.

These fit in my ears great. The included ear tips are comfortable and it includes 4 different sizes (xs, s, m, l) for you to dial in the comfort. I don't get tired of them being in my ears at all. The controls on the earbuds are placed on the stem so you don't press them and wreck your music when adjusting the buds. Overall, the comfort and ease of use is great.

The case slides nicely into your pocket, but feels a bit plasticky and really traps fingerprints. Getting the buds in and out of the case is pretty easy but can be annoying since there isn't much of a lip to grab onto. The angle the buds sit in the case is different than what I am used to. I found I had to mess with them a lot to find where they snap in.

Overall, I recommend!!

Really nice earbuds, criticism is peeps whining.

So, to start off my review, I'd actually like to address some of the other things people have said. Yes, these aren't the best. Sure, there are better. Of course it'll lack a feature you want, most things will. The brand isn't called EVERYTHING YOU GUYS WANT, read the specs instead of whining about things you discover after the pruchase despite the description telling you beforehand. Look at reviews on YouTube before you buy these if you're that skeptical.

BUT, enough about that, I for one like the sound quality.

The noise cancelation is pretty decent.

They are the best fitting earbuds I've ever owned personally speaking, the buds are nice quality too.

As other reviewers point out though, the case is indeed a fingerprint magnet and feels kinda cheap.

The bass can be a bit heavy but as a rocker I for one enjoy that.

The EQ customization is a nifty feature but I like them just how they came.

It does not come with a charger, but it's charged with USB-C which most modern chargeable devices use so I'm sure you have a spare USB-C.

They do have different sized tips that come with the buds which is nice.

They connect really easily to Apple devices so long as you download the FREE app for it.

They do not sound as good with Apple devices due to audio limitations with Apple, NOT a Nothing issue.

The pricepoint seems reasonable, could be a bit cheaper, but they could've made it a lot more overpriced too if they wanted.

I for one can't complain much, they're enjoyable and worth a shot.

Buds Yes, Case Meh.

YouTube reviewers won't tell you this because they focus too much on audio quality and features than actual user experience. The case is a fingerprint magnet, inside and out. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it just keeps it looking dirty. I've only owned these for couple days, and it looks like I haven't cleaned them in months. Speaking of the case, opening it one handed is a skill you have to learn instead of anything intuitive. It is way too difficult to flick this open because there's no reliable grip point. You can learn how to, but it's definitely difficult. Not to mention putting the buds back in the case...It's not necessarily difficult, but you have to lay them flatter than you think, or else they lay sideways. It took me a little too long to figure out how they wanted to be seated. Maybe a skill issue.

That being said, the earbuds themselves are great. The audio quality is very good, especially in this price range. I heard a lot of complaints about them being too bassy, but I didn't find that to be the case. They sound great in their "Balanced" EQ setting, but they have a fully adjustable EQ if you want to make any tweaks. The Transparency mode is...acceptable. I wouldn't rely in it with both earbuds in if you want to hold a conversation. It reduces your audio clarity by like 25%. Bout the same goes for the Noise Cancellation. Lower pitched sounds like voices or a TV get reduced to a hushed muffle.

The fit is really, really good. I have small ears, and have often struggled to find earbuds that work for me. When I had a Samsung, the Galaxy Buds Pro 3 were the best I'd had, but still not perfect. With my iPhone, Airpods Pro 2 are the same stroy-good, but not great. These fit like an absolute charm. I've never felt like I had to adjust them, and even if I do decide to adjust them, whether to change their angle or whatever, the seal stays comfortable, tight, and firm. Never feels like they're gonna fall out, even with a wild shake of the head. The range of ear-tips was very much appreciated, and I think they'd fit great in most people's ears.

Working in a tech retail store, I can absolutely and genuinely recommend these to a great deal of people. The price is very attractive, the buds themselves are pretty and unique, and the audio quality makes these significantly valuable for the cost. The ONLY gripe is the case. It's very slim, though a bit wide, but opening your earbud cases one-handed is a very common practice that is lost on these buds.

Use premium eartips like SpinFit Omni

I used Earfun Free Pro 2 (2021, $52) and expected Nothing Ear (3a) to be light years ahead with spatial audio, a built-in EQ, two-device connection, LDAC, and Bluetooth 6. Sadly, it was only a marginal improvement.

USE 3RD-PARTY PREMIUM EARTIPS. Like most other Bluetooth earbuds, the included eartips aren't good at all. It's a shame because I like the vivid yellow color. Because I didn't like the sparse sound, I swapped the yellow eartips for SpinFit Omni, and voilà, I could hear more details, bass and treble. But again, the sound quality was marginally better than the one of Earfun 2021.

SPATIAL AUDIO IS A JOKE. The product description claims Nothing Ear (3a) supports spatial audio. Ignore it. There's only an on/off toggle; no adjustment. It applies an excessive amount of reverb and some stereo expansion while drops details from the sound. Without spatial audio, I feel as if someone is playing music in the middle of my head similar to most other earphones or headphones.

NOISE CANCELLING. The ANC in Nothing Ear (3a) is slightly better than the Earfun in 2021, but don't expect too much. Even on the highest setting, I can still hear reduced noises from my desktop fan and traffic noises from the window.

OVERALL. Unless you really like the unique plasticky design (with vivid yellow or pink accents in these models), consider other earbuds in the same price range. I don't really think Nothing Ear (3a) is competitive in the $70-$100 tier except for its lovely plasticky design.

Think it over a few times

I’ve been using this company’s products for quite a while now. I own their smartwatch, this is already my third pair of earbuds, and I also have their over-ear headphones.

First of all, I want to say that I really like the brand. The sound quality is excellent, the active noise cancellation works great, and that’s exactly why I keep buying your products.

However, there are a few things that I hope you can improve.

The biggest issue I have is with iPhone compatibility. Whenever I record voice messages in apps like Telegram, the microphone selection is inconsistent. Sometimes the earbuds don’t switch correctly, sometimes they don’t record at all, and I have to manually choose the microphone every time. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it becomes frustrating when you use the earbuds every day.

Another thing I don’t understand is the lack of an option to locate a single earbud. If one earbud is in the charging case and the other is lost somewhere, there should be a way to make just that one earbud play a sound so it can be found. Considering how large and successful the company has become, this feels like a feature that should already exist.

Finally, I recently bought your newest earbuds, and I have one question for the design team: is there some secret to opening the charging case quickly?

The lid sits perfectly flush with the bottom of the case, and the entire surface is smooth and slippery. If you have short nails, it’s surprisingly difficult to open it quickly with one hand. It looks premium, but in everyday use it’s honestly inconvenient. A tiny lip, groove, or textured edge would make a huge difference without affecting the design.

I genuinely hope the company continues to grow and improve. The reason I’m taking the time to write this review is because I like your products and want them to become even better. Thank you for making great audio products, and I hope you’ll consider these suggestions for future updates.
