Half the cameras don’t work – huge waste of time installing this system
Honestly this has been incredibly frustrating.
We purchased the ONWOTE 16-channel system with 14 cameras total (the 12-camera kit plus 2 extra cameras). Installing this system was not a quick or easy job. We spent a lot of time running Ethernet cables, mounting cameras, and setting everything up around the property.
After finally finishing the installation, we realized something was seriously wrong: only 7 cameras work. The other 7 cameras don’t power on or connect to the NVR at all.
We spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot because we initially thought maybe we made a mistake during installation. We tested multiple things:
* Swapped Ethernet cables with cameras that are working
* Tried different PoE ports on the NVR
* Tested the same cables and ports with working cameras
Every time, the result was the same. The working cameras connect immediately, but the same 7 cameras remain completely dead.
At this point it’s pretty clear the problem is with the cameras themselves, not the wiring or installation.
What makes this even more frustrating is that this is a security system, and installing it requires a lot of work. Running cables, mounting cameras, and setting up the system took hours. Now we’re stuck dealing with multiple cameras that simply don’t work at all.
For a system advertised as a commercial security solution, having half of the cameras fail right out of the box is unacceptable. A security system is something people rely on for protection, so reliability should be the most basic expectation.
After spending so much time installing and troubleshooting, this experience has been extremely disappointing. Buyers should be aware that if cameras fail, fixing the issue may mean removing and reinstalling hardware that already took a lot of effort to install.
