Fun instrumental toy!

My daughter wanted one of these for her birthday & she was very happy with it! I will say it only worked for the first day & then stopped. But I reached out to their customer service & they immediately sent a replacement! That one is the one shown in my video. Very pleased with it & have had no issues over the last 2 months. There is 2 levels of volume control & 3 different pitch options. It was a little pricey, but still fun & age appropriate. And it's adorable!

Not bad. Pretty fun, but needs to be louder.

Got this for my kiddo and I think I’ve played with it more than she has The idea is awesome and though fun it has some flaws. I’m not sure if it’s just mine, but the print on the back for the tone and volume switches started to rub off. Also though it sounds pretty loud on the video, it’s really not at all. I’ve seen others had the same issue so I’ve tried the screw loosening trick, reseating the speaker, and of course new batteries. It looks neat and is easy to control. It does have a little bit of a learning curve, but easy enough to figure out. If I had to do it over I would probably look at the larger deluxe version.

Fun and Easy To Learn

I purchased this for my son's 13th birthday and he loves it as does my 10 year old so I'd say a person of any age would enjoy this instrument. He's been playing it non-stop for over a week now and he's getting pretty good at it. It's very intuitive so for those who don't like to read directions you can jump right in to playing it. It requires 3 AAA batteries and as will most battery operated things you will need a tiny screwdriver to get it open. The quality is good and it looks just as pictured.

Wanted one since i was 9 or so. Expectations met the product. Great and fun little guy. Black is a very good color for this, anz i does not chip. Im 11 and it is perfect and fun. Also vey durable and cute, and alot of different notes. There ara 2 main volume switches, but opening the mouth makes it louder makes 2 sub volumes.

Fun little instrument

This instrument is a huge delight to play around with. The idea of combining a mouth with a synthesizer is great. I liked it so much I made a bunch of sheet music for it that I posted on otamatunes [dot] com.

Love it!

It arrived very early and it makes so many beep noises which is so fun! But it doesn’t come with batteries which was very disappointing, but I am thinking of performing at the picnic with it. It also doesn’t come with stickers. I ordered a medium sized one and it makes me so happy!

Japanese Otamatone

My daughter loved this for Christmas. She wanted one that was not so big. It came quick and was pretty cool. I would of gave it five but batteries don't last long. Would recommend trying thiers or buying higher quality ones. All in all happy with the product fun Otamatone toy.

Cute, but not the best option for adults.

This is a cute little item, but it isn't quite what I expected/hoped for after seeing YouTube videos where people use these cute little guys to do covers of songs.

It's got a decent range of tones, and I know I'm not great with music, but it just didn't quite feel like "enough".

I'm not a fan of the immense amount of pressure needed to get the little guy to make noise, it makes it hard to do short bursts of sounds where you would usually just want to tap, you need to press really hard and fast.

It also doesn't allow the playing of 2 different notes at the same time sadly, so you're stuck to needing a friend or two with their own Otamatone to make anything with depth.

Overall, it's a cute and fun little toy, but I wish I had gotten the Deluxe version instead, it sounds like it has much more sensitive keys than this regular model.

This model is also quite small, I included a couple pictures, and you can see that just one of my heads is quite large compared to it haha!

Great option to get on sale to mess around with, but don't expect too much like I did haha!

Hubby loves it and it works great

Bought this for my hubby. It works great and he LOVES it. It takes 3 AAA batteries and they're super easy to install. Product is small.

It doesn’t work.

It doesn’t work, it doesn’t do anything. So a big waste of money. I now have a very disappointing 5 year old.

Worth the money

Its fun to play with its kinda easy to use.

Very cute and extremely fun

I bought this as a gift for my wife. She loves it and prominently displays it in her office. It is extremely cute and fun to play with. It has some versatility, so you can just mess around with it and have fun, but you can also practice and for real play it and enjoy the challenge of making music.

I had originally thought about getting the larger version, but this size is perfect to me. It is big enough to hold and play, but small enough for children to use as well. The smaller size also makes it easier to display without hogging all of your shelf space.

Music

Sound isn't as loud as I would expect.

Too small fingerboard

The fingerboard of this instrument is way too small even for a toy. Slightest move of a finger changes sound to a tone or two. I also assumed that to start a sound one must squeeze the rubber part, but it sounds with the pressure on the fingerboard. The 'Wa-wa' effect is not pronounced. It's not a touch either. The pressure required to play it is significant.

Good idea, but poor execution. Must be twice longer at least to be playable.

Sonic Silliness

A terrifically weird idea half-a**ed for indiscriminate music noodlers. Too quiet and stiff actioned between notes. Good for kids tooling with organized noise, however mine's on the shelf where it can be admired for asserting a delicious minimalist design.

Great little instrument

Honestly, for a for a musical "toy", this is pretty good. I love that there are no frets. You can make it sound really good with practice. If you need help just watch the video the creator made!

Very fun toy

Got this for my son’s birthday. But I love to play with this. Kids had lots of fun with it. And now the 1/8 note became quarter note. Hahaha

Alissa

I got instantly attached to it!

Definitely not unnecessary purchase but no regrets were made. I got super attached to it, it's very pretty to even look at but I keep reaching over to keep playing with it. So pretty!

Kind of regret buying this.....

I bought this for my 5 year old because she saw this on YouTube and wanted to try it out......it's a cute idea, but the noise......it sounds like.....I don't even know how to describe it. A train whistle on death's door? If you're trying to annoy your family, I totally suggest this product.....for your kid to play 24 hours a day? Not so much. It seems to run through batteries like crazy- I was replacing them like DAILY. I'm glad my daughter has stopped playing with it so much because although it's really cute and simple for her to just run her finger over the buttons, it's really not a great sound LOL

It is not what it seems, it looks cute on top of the desk.

In the video I watched before I purchase it, I thought it would teach how to play tunes and also, I thought I would be able to play same music I watched on the video, but not, it needs to be played like musical instrument it in order to make music to come out, I didn't know I was buying a musical instrument.

CAUTION: THIS IS THE SMALL VERSION. Nevertheless, it's a good product.

If you've seen an Otomatone in videos, you've most likely seen the larger one a.k.a. the "Deluxe" one. I mistakenly bought this one thinking that was it, but I was surprised to see how small it was compared to the videos. Lo and behold, they're two different things.

Anyway, you'll probably want the Deluxe version since it's apparently easier to play. However, that doesn't mean this is a bad product. This is pretty fun thing to mess around with. It might be a bit difficult to learn if you've never played stringed instruments before. It could possibly be easier to learn if you play guitar but if you play fretless stringed instruments like violin or cello, then this'll be a piece of cake for you.

This little guy is a ton of fun

This little guy is a ton of fun. If you're a trained musician, it's pretty easy to pick up and play popular songs and chord progressions on an Otamatone, though, as it says on the packaging, this isn't going to hit the exact notes an actual musical instrument would. Even if you're not super well trained as a musician, you can have fun making little patterns that sound good and on top of everything, my Otomatone has been a very fun conversation piece ever since I purchased it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my little guy!
