Beautiful Instrument, but Disappointing Arrival Condition

I was very excited to receive my beautiful green Panda Drum Pro. Unfortunately, the shipping box arrived torn and damaged, and the decorative woven trim surrounding the drum was already frayed when I first unpacked the instrument.

For an expensive instrument, I expected better quality control and more protective packaging. I have requested a replacement and sincerely hope the next drum arrives in perfect condition, properly protected during shipping.

Shipping did not protect the top of drum from being pressed.

The middle note is not correct. It is not tuned properly. I think during shipping the top got pressed down causing the note to be out of tune. The rest of the notes are perfect. So I will play without using the center note.

Perfect

I have very little music ability. I have a small tongue drum and when I heard the PandaDrum i wanted that too. I used the installment plan to afford it. Bought the black one. Perfect. Easy to play. Don’t need to worry about knowing any songs. Just hit a number and play around and make your own music. Make sure to remove the big rubber stopper on the back, so the sound vibrates in the air stronger when you tap the numbers unless you want it muted on purpose. Also I put the numbered stickers on over the assigned numbers, that came with it, to see them better. The song book is nice, but it does need to be in a spiral spine like other people suggested. I googled “Amazing Grace” for the panda drum for my first song and it was useful. Not familiar with the songs in the book yet. Reading the numbers in the book are helpful. Instructions are helpful. The sound games in the back of the book are interesting. It has some weight to it about 15 pounds so it won’t slide off the table. I bought a table stand for it to play. Easier to see all the numbers at an angle. And makes for a nice display. Don’t need to keep it hidden in the backpack bag with shoulder straps that comes with it. I keep the yarn on the balls of the drumsticks while I play , can be removed but not necessary for my use. The bag has a pocket on the outside for the drumsticks and a pocket on the inside for accessories and the songbook. A double handle is on the top to carry by hand. High quality. I don’t mind the price for what you get. Looking forward to making more music. Very calming as advertised. Beautiful to look at too. Haven’t use the finger picks that come with it or the drumsticks holder yet. No tuning needed. Perfect sound. The cloth on the outside edge dresses it up and stays where it’s at. Very decorative.

Beautiful Instrument!! Very pleased!!

I love this Panda Drum!! It sounds so soothing and calming. Beautiful tones. Very well-made I wasn’t expecting it to be the size and weight that it is. I’m very pleased!!! came with a bag to carry it in and an extra bag with the song book the Mallets & Finger tappers.. very pleased. I loved it so much that I ordered the other sizes. This is one of the best gifts I’ve ever bought myself.

15 tongue panda drum

I love this drum , very easy to play , I would recommend it to everyone. The only issue I had was seeing the numbers and could not attach the sticker numbers . All I did was use gold and silver permanent markers.

Is There Any Sound Sweeter Than The Hand Pan?

I absolutely love this drum! The sounds is incredibly relaxing and grounding, and it’s easy to play either with fingers or included mallets. It’s very beautiful and looks nice even if you task the macrame embellishment off, which I personally have. The carrying case and small case for the sticks are wonderful. It is a fairly large drum but not so large it can’t easily be moved around the home or taken with you. The quality seems extremely sturdy. I keep this out on my living room floor 24/7 and myself and toddler will play with it every day just to hear the calming sounds. It’s a steep price tag but not outside the scope of other hands of this size a quality.

Great Buy

I was really worried while I waited the delivery of my Panda Drum because choosing one was so hard as there are so many to choose from and so many othat appear to not be the real deal. This one is the real deal. It sounds amazing. Great quality. Love the songs in the book. Great for musically inclined kids.

Awesome Pure Tones, Great Fun

This variation on a steel drum offers rich tones and is very portable. The Panda drum comes with a nice pouch with snap closure to store the padded mallets, a songbook, and backpack-style carrying case. It also includes a strip of self-adhesive strips with numbered notes that can be applied to the drum to make the notes more easily visible. The quality of construction is first class, and the tones have a beautiful lingering ring. The drum weighs about 11 pounds and is easy to transport with the carrying case.

Don’t forget to try the 432-Hertz healing frequency note. Once you start playing with this drum, you will find it hard to put down. No matter how young or old you are, this is a fascinating and soothing sound experience that will bring hours of fascinating fun. It is as easy to play as aiming and striking a lightweight mallet – if you hit a sour note, just try, try, try again! I highly recommend.

Professional Quality

This is a beautiful steel drum that has everything you'll need to get playing - whether you're a beginner or a seasoned professional. The drum's tonality is on the D-major scale which give it a deep, warm tone that still has some brightness behind it. It is calming and soothing, yet still cheerful.

The drum is large and very well constructed giving it great range and intonation throughout the scale. Each tongue has a clean, sustained resonance that makes it just as enjoyable to play full songs as it is single notes. I love that the instrument comes with both mallets and finger picks to accommodate different play styles. Other accessories include numbered marker stickers, an instructional song book, and a really great backpack case that is as attractive as it is protective.

Professional musicians will appreciate this drum, but as a gift for beginners, it is really fantastic. The song book makes it very easy to get acquainted with the drum and playing your first song within minutes. In fact, the very first song is the main theme from Harry Potter which was very easy to learn. Beyond that, the song book is one of the best stock song books I've seen - including a large number of contemporary songs that you'll actually want to play. No "twinkle twinkle little star" or "Mary had a little lamb" in sight.

If you're looking for a professional-grade instrument that is well crafted, but still won't break the bank, then I'd fully recommend this one. No matter your skill level, this steel drum doesn't disappoint.

Sounds lovely

A small issue but for its high price I was suprised to see how fast the handle button broke off(see picture). It was fun to pellet the drum with the mallets. After a jam session I decided to check out the booklet it came with. I found it hard to follow the notes as the number on the drum blends a little to well against the blue color. The sounds can be quiet calming.

This thing is amazing. It's so much fun and sounds GREAT!

Who would have known that this could be so fun?! I originally intended this to be a family gift for Christmas, but after getting it out to test it out first (I had to do it in my car in my garage so they didn't hear what I was doing), I couldn't resist: I gave it to them right then and there. And my daughters LOVE it! Seriously. For hours after handing them the mallets they were still downstairs learning how to play song after song. I was eager for them to finish so I could get a turn.

Initial impressions:

-The case it comes in is super premium. I absolutely love it. And I can ear it on my back like a ninja turtle, so it's all the better.

-The sound is super nice and crisp AND on-key, although the video I uploaded doesn't show this well. It's really nice and crisp. And with the numbered chimes, it's very easy to learn and pick up quickly. It's not easy to master, but it's fun enough to play that mastery isn't the immediate point.

-3 ways to play make it super nice. Mallets for louder, crisper sound, finger picks for a more muted, tinnier sound, and bare hands for when you don't want to wake anybody up.

-It's very well build. It's heavy and sturdy, making it feel like you're holding on to a premium item.

-It looks GREAT!

-The knitting on the mallets could be better. One already started coming undone. One of my daughters crochets really well, so she fixed it in a hurry. But it should not have come undone that quickly .

We love it. A LOT.

Great gift for a music lover

The drum was packaged securely and efficiently in recyclable retail packaging.

These drums are very relaxing to tinker and play. The first, smaller one was commandeered by my wife. This pro model has everything going for it. The tones are more varied, as some notes have 3 octaves of pitch. The drum is tuned to the key of D. The number make it easy to play multiple notes together, especially if you know a little theory around music intervals.

The accessories are very thoughtful, as the included cushioned bag has a handle, backpack straps, and separate compartment to hold your mallets.

The only issue that I could site, is that the included song book is hard to read. It a colored set of blocks with number text. Actual numbered music notation would be easier to read. The contrast ratios on the colored blocks are hard to read, as is the rhythm.

Beautiful Sound, Great for Beginners and Kids

I received this steel tongue handpan through the Vine program and it’s been awesome! I prefer using the mallets while my technique and fingers get used to proper strikes. The sound is great when struck correctly with fingers, and very clear and clean with mallets always.

The kids love playing it, which is a huge plus. Unlike stringed instruments that can make you shudder while kids are learning, this handpan stays mostly soothing even during the learning process. That’s a big deal for family peace!

The case is great quality and it comes with everything you need—mallets, music book, finger picks, and carrying bag. The 432 Hz tuning creates a very calming sound whether used inside or outside.

If you’re looking for a meditative instrument that’s beginner-friendly and enjoyable for all ages, this is an excellent choice. Highly recommend!

Beautiful, complete and in tune

This Panda Drum Pro Steel Tongue Handpan in the Sandstone color is so pretty! It comes with a set of yarn mallets, finger picks, a music booklet, a cleansing wipe and a really nice carrying case with a top handle and backpack straps. My kids are the musicians and I am putting this away for Christmas, but I did want to test the notes. I got a tuner app and tested the drum as you can see on my attached video. It seems to be tuned perfectly. But, I have gotten cheap instruments before and they are have not been good and just a waste of money. I can’t say how this drum compares to the $75 Handpan drums which seem similar, but I can say that this Panda Drum Pro is beautiful, complete and in tune.

Exceeded my expectations above and beyond!

This drum beyond exceeded all of my expectations!!! The quality is unbelievable! It is so beautifully made. Comes with a little book that shows you that it is in D minor, and gives you a few different sample songs that you can play. We loved the Harry Potter theme! Everything is packaged up really nicely. It comes with a carrier bag/backpack. The drum fits perfectly and is very secured, even room for accessories. This would make an amazing present for music lovers, an amazing tool for kids and adults, and just a wonderful soothing, sound bathing experience! 100% worth the price!

Great Instrument for beginners!

I am already obsessed with this device. Its been a day since it has arrived and just put the honest review we're testing it and I must say all my family members are thoroughly obssesed. It comes with a booklet which gives explanation on how to play tunes on this instrument and I follow those instruction and playing some well known tunes and my house feels like a celebration while doing that.

It's a must have instrument at home for entertainment and also helps kids developing new hobbies.

My new obsession!!!

You don’t have to be a pro to have a lot of fun with this Panda Drum Pro. I come from a family where both my parents played musical instruments. Because of financial restrictions, us kids never had the opportunity to take lessons of any kind, let alone own our own musical instrument. I always loved music and had a deep appreciation for it. Now that I’m older, and free to do as I please (for the most part), I’ve been looking for a small-ish portable instrument I could have some fun with. And then I came across this drum.

This drum weighs in at 10.98 pounds! And yet, it’s still quite portable. The case has carrying handles and backpack-like straps to make traveling with this so much easier. For now, as a beginner, I’m just messing around with it in the privacy of my home. It comes with an instruction song book, which is nice, but I prefer to “do my own thing”. Love the crocheted covered mallets. They allow me to play in a softer manner, which is what I really like.

The drum is tuned to 432 Hz and set in the key of D Major. It has a nice bright, calming sound. Perfect for relaxing, calming, meditation, or just for being creative and having some fun! Great for people of all ages. No prior skills are required. Nothing to memorize if you don’t want to. Like I said before, I just do my own thing and I’m perfectly content in my way of playing. You may like things more structured, and the song book will help you along the way.

This Panda Drum Pro is built solidly and appears to be of the highest quality. It comes with extra number stickers in case you wear the originals off. It is a bit pricey, but worth every penny, in my humble opinion. Should last many, many years. Possibly even a lifetime. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend it to one and all!
